Just wondering why anyone would unroot unless they have to repair it using warranty?
I can think of 1000 reasons to root, but only 1 to unroot.
well i might have to unroot cuz i am receiving this rooted and unlocked mytouch 3g
i want to start fresh with it
imo it'll make a lot of things easier with roms and stuff
go to www.theunlockr.com they got vids and guids for it

Hmmm, should be a lot easier for you to get started with roms and stuff now that it is rooted.
But it sounds like you want to go through the steps by yourself to understand how things work?
Anyway, there is many different ways to root a magic all depends on HBOOT.
You should be happy you don't have to go through this, some mobiles still not root-able.
ya though it will make everything easier i just feel i need to do it by myself in order to understand it more
thanks ronni.rasmussen

IF YOUR PHONE IS ROOTED, DONT DO it UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING!!!! IF it is rooted thats easier for custom rom, unrooted means only provider Roms!
well if you wanna UNROOT your phone, try using the stock RUU, that should do the trick, unless your having a rogers, then PLEASE LEAVE IT ALONE!!
Because the new update is a perfect one, that means you cant root it that easy!!
Do any of you guys know whats in the new rom RUU_Buzz_HTC_WWE_1.25.405.1_Radio_13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31_release_142189_signed.exe up on shipped-roms ?
If its the 2.2 update would it be possible to extract the rom and intall it with custom recovery ?
I don't know but I don't think its an update to Froyo...
Because when the Desire get the 2.2 update, the build number became 2.XX.XXX
But nothing's sure until someone install it
I'm scared of installing it because I don't want to loose the Clockwork recovery (I don't know if it could delete it or not) and because I didn't reveive any OTA notification.
PS: Sorry for my english I'm Belgian.

You're correct in saying this is not 2.2. However you can run the RUU and re-root using unrevoked3.
The updated rom feels very snappy, and scrolling seems smoother.
Yeah i just realised my stupidity , obviously it would be 2.2xxxxxx if it had been the froyo update .
Oh well at least thats my phone debranded from 3uk and my phone definitely seems to be running much faster .
Or.. just flash latest WildPuzzleROM
its based that RUU
forgive my noobishness but can i flash this file and if i dont like it - switch back to my old one when i have a nandroid backup?
it likely is more complicated isn't it?!

yes you can
branded on 3
I have a question, if i de-brand my 3 Wildfire, would the free skype/messenger still work, because as far as i know unless your using a branded 3 phone, skype/messenger wont work, even if your using a 3 sim.

Well i can confirm that if you're in the UK both msn and skype will still work perfectly once you have debranded from 3 . I'd imagine the same would be true outside of the UK too , as long as your using a 3 sim card i really cant see a problem .
Hey!! Guys i m newbie on my hTC Wildfire so i want to ask which shipped rom to choose at shipped roms site....
Plzzz help in this problem...
or if i choose any of them it causes problem or not..???
thnx in advance
HTC Wildfire
White
Buyed from UK
UNLOCKED
You can choose any, as long as its not operator specific (TMobile, Vodafone, Tesco etc.)
For your region, you can choose RUU 2.22.405 WWE. But remember, you will lose root if you flash this. If you want to retain root, flash a 'safe' version of the RUU (Which is untouched, with just the HBOOT removed to that root ability is preserved) From the WildPuzzle 2.2.1 thread (v0.0)
I tried to use the "safe" one, but it didn't "boot" the sense.
I wans't able to see "desktop".
That's my problem with modaco's rooms also.
With Openfire 'n CyanogenMod i haven't got any problems.
About WildPuzzle.... well i didn't try it!
Can someone tell me why i can't use stock rom, and those ones?
I wanna try OTA 2.2....

First boot on Sense ROM's take a long time. ~7-10 minutes. During this time, if you unlock the screen, all you see is the HTC Logo, which is normal.
If you get OTA FroYo, remember, you wont be able to root and flash any more custom ROM's.
if i rooted my wildfire & installed a custom rom so how to unroot in future if i like..????

That's the million dollar question which none of the experts here will answer.
I hope you have not rooted yet. There's nothing to gain from a rooted phone for casual users. App2SD available in Froyo. Leave it alone.
One thing that experts don't tell you is how many times in a day you will have to pull out the battery for each custom ROM. Bollocks.

Download a RUU from Shipped ROM's. Install HTC Sync, connect your Wildfire to your PC using HTC Sync Mode, and, run the RUU file (It is an EXE File). It will then install the RUU, and, you will lose your root.

Lol, I have been using Wildpuzzle for about 2 months or so with no battery pulls what so ever. Yes, some roms have bugs, but if you take some time and read the topics (if you can read), you`ll find out answers to these bugs, or just know about them and avoid those roms.... it`s that so hard?

I've only ever had to battery pull twice, on very early CM builds. I've tried many ROMs, including Sense ones.
You're doing it wrong.
Iv not pulled my battery out at all :/ ... im no expert
Hi I'm new to the custom rom's and instead of searching through countless topics, mixing up instructions. I was wondering if I could get some directions.
Play is unrooted 2.3.3. I would like instructions on how to put a custom rom on the phone, and which custom rom would be recommended. Thanks in advance people.

is your phone fastboot enabled? (does the notification light in the power button turn blue if you hold the search button and then connect the usb to computer?)
If you want a custom rom but dont want to search and read these forums, i give your phone a week before you brick it.

or we could help people within the comunity to understand what's out there, the risks involved and how to get around the problems that could arise? we all need things explaining to us once in a while.
Oh im sorry i see your point, it is always good to be helpful, i am trying to be helpful as well when i say you should search and read, i mean look at all the countless threads where people didnt want to read, theres like 3 help im bricked threads per page.
lol. i know what you mean. and i know it can be frustrating. it's just a shame that the play is so much more complicated than the x10 that i was previously on. it was all flashtool and update.zip stuff. practically unbrickable!! loved it. fastboot and adb complicate things, and i feel that some of the tutorials can be a little confusing to total noobs. so we need to be accomodating to their lack of knowledge (i hardly know anything, so i'm still quite noobish), but also, people need to accept their own actions and consequences. not sure what i'm getting at now, but things need to be simpler for people who want to start out
Actually the way of installation is exactly the same for any custom ROM in this phone.
1) unlock your bootloader, either for free if you bought a factory unlocked phone or for some cash sending Alejandrissimo a PM, which you have to use if your phone is branded and/or Sim locked. You only need to do this step once.
2) install a custom kernel. There are two: DoomLord's kernel and the Cyanogen Mod kernel. The latter allows you only to install CM7. Doom's allows you to install the others.
3) Enter in Clockwork Mod recovery and install the ROM you prefer as long as your kernel of choice supports it.
As to which ROM you should pick, I use CM7 because it's stable and fast. Visit those threads and see for yourself which is the one you like best.
my personal favorite (until cm7 became more usable, and also because i like dooms kernel) was zerojay's aptly named zerorom. it's a very clean and fast sony based rom full of optimizations and tweaks. i'm currently trying out the FXP028 release of cm7 to see if it's more to my liking than it was in previous releases.
Unfortunately locked to Rogers. Is there a free way of unlocking the bootloader and how?
Again I'm currently running 2.3.3 nonrooted. Had it rooted on 2. 3. 2. but ofcourse lost it with update.

well, one free way could be if you could swap a branded phone to someone who doesnt care and has a generic model

True, but paying $20 dollars to get it unlocked sounds like less of a pain in the ass

Bump, has anyone been able to get Cyanogen mod onto the Rogers r800a? This locked boot loader is really causing me grief. Have the phone rooted, cwr is installed as well as busy Box. Getting closer, but still no cigar.

You won't brick it, if kernel is incompatible device with either not boot, or bootloop, flahing stock rom with flashtool will fix it though.

hey my play comes in the 3erd and i will like to know is there any working ICS roms for it and how to go about doing every thing i need to. i use to have the lg ally running velocity v1.2 but by the looks of it with my new play i have flashing roms and recover look way harder then the ally was so i need some info guys and a guide and what roms are save to flash and what recovery do i need to have also and thanks for you help also!!!
I havent seen any ICS roms for the r800x but recovering/flashing roms is made very very easy with this from the android market "Xperia CWM Auto-Instaler"
You don't even need to unlock the bootloader, just needs to be rooted and then go about setting up the Xperia CWM Auto-Instaler and just make a nandroid backup. I would reccommend using Cola's rom or IT-ROM (which is based off of Cola's rom) for the r800x, they both have worked perfectly for me and I'm currently running IT-ROM which definitely makes the r800x run much smoother/faster.
Wifi, 3g, sms, ect all worked without any issues, and if you're somone who is worried about being able to overclock, I know someone is working on that with Cola's rom, but I dont think it's finished yet. But, those roms take care of basically any speed issues one may have with their r800x, it definitely did the trick for me.
Good luck

Read more prior to posting... There's a lot of info in here (no ICS), and unless you take the time to sift through it all and understand it, you will mess up your phone.

ya i know that as i have done all of this with the ally but what i dont know is with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14815942&postcount=4 do i root and then flash the recover and then install the rom because i know the recovery does not work with stock and thats what i will be on or do i install the rom and then the recovery if i have more info on this then im good
How are planning on installing the ROM without recovery? Seriously, read everything again so you don't brick your phone.
And make sure you're installing a ROM for locked bootloaders.... If you try to install that CM7 ROM it'll likely never boot again.

ok i looked up some info and i can not unlock my bootloader on the R800x i am so happy i did not try and flash the CM7 lol
you can unlock your boot loader it just cost $$ , someone with setool , a paper clip and not minding voiding your warrantee. I would not suggest it until you've gotten a bit experience under your belt but when you get there its worth having done in my opinion , many people vary on this subject and they're right also.
There is limited real benefit to unlocking the R800x, since the devs have been focusing on the locked ROMs... Not much out there, unless you're planning to develop it yourself.
