Samsung is releasing a new Tab under the Model No. P1013
the only confirmed difference from P1010 is the black back cover , nothing else
Hardware is the same , and it using Froyo 2.2.1
so far it is using the same ROM installed on P1010. you can find the model No. P1013 mentioned only on the back cover .
Where did you get it?
In the US?
Still under development. the one I got is for testing purposes only.

i want this back cover i think it can be inistalled on the p1000 model , another question will this be the galaxy tab 2 7" after the development is finished or it will be same hardware

I have tried 5 or 6 Samsung devices before being released, after release no hardware changes only software.
Last week I tried the galaxy tab 8.9 inches; honeycomb is laggy. But for sure it will much faster after fixing all of the bugs. It will be much better than ipad2.
By the way. You can install the back cover on P1000, not easy but applicable.

Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0), offers Ice Cream Sandwich on a seven-inch platter
It looks like Samsung has just taken the wraps off its latest tablet offerings, with the Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) -- an ICS-laced follow-up to the company's original seven-incher. Available in both 3G and WiFi varieties, this redux doesn't mark a huge departure from its predecessor, packing a 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and a 1024 x 600 LCD. The big changes, however, come in the software department, with the Galaxy Tab 2 shipping with Android 4.0 straight out of the box. Other than that, you'll find a three-megapixel rear-facing camera, a VGA shooter up front, Bluetooth capabilities, and HSPA+ connectivity. No word yet on pricing or availability, but it's worth noting that we first saw this announcement hit Samsung's RSS feed earlier this morning, and it appears to have been pulled since then. It all looks awfully official to us, but when it becomes officially official, we'll be sure to update this post accordingly. Until then, be sure to head past the break for a shot of its backside.

Maybe, the galaxy note 10.1 is good for you
They're yet to mention whether this or the new Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 have the Tegra 2 chip, even if I didn't have my original Tab there's no way I'd buy it with a Tegra 2.

Really, ohhh come on Samsung why are you doing this, this is an inferior model compared to the galaxy 7.7 the only thing it has going for is ICS which the 7.7 doesn't at the moment. This is why Samsung is playing catch-up to Apple even though I deeply believe that the tabs are supperior but churning all these different models for what? Just concentrate on one single model and make it the best device available.

I would rather get the Asus transformer infinity 700.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
that would explain why samsung doesn´t upgrade the original tab to ICS
7" is good for carrying around, so 3G is a must-have feature.
Hopefully this is the upgraded version of our tabs

Yes. the quad cores are missing from this one and Galaxy Tab2 10.1.
So we should expect one more 10.1 with quad core

I want this but the screen resolution is bumming me down.. wheres the 11.6 thats rumored to be 2560x1600?
The split screen feature is nice though, hopefully someone can mod it to run both video player and web browser side by side!
I'm not impressed... Hope the 11.6 gets announced..

I liked the part where he touched the back button and it took two full seconds for it to actually go back.
And nothing of value was lost.

Guess you've never used an Exynos device (Galaxy S2 or Note). Samsung usually doesn't have its drivers optimized until its about ready to release and even afterwards they still manage to draw out more power.
Sent from my Transformer TF101
I don't think I can justify this as a worthy upgrade from Tab 10.1. CM9 should happily carry me for a while, at least until a Nexus tablet appears sometime this year.

I had a Galaxy S2 and a Galaxy Note and now Im using a Galaxy Tab 7.7, it takes samsung a while to get things really going probably due to touchwiz, pre production software barely differs from production up until 4-6 months. No everyone sees it like you do

Drivers are the main difference from pre-production and final release. Galaxy S2 benched poorly and seemed laggy when it debuted last year but when it was released it had the best SoC and was the smoothest Android phone.
The GN 10.1 should have similar performance to the original GN assuming it uses the same Exynos 4210.

The Note 10.1 has a 1.4GHz Exynos processor. Getting away from Teg2 is reason enough to consider it even if everything else was the same. I love the idea of being able to take real notes in meetings so I might pick one up if it's available in the next 4-6 weeks. If it's later than that I'll wait for the 11.6.

I got my S2 1 day before release in my country and it came with the KF1 firmware, TBH I never noticed any 'lag' or slowdowns.. zero difference on my end upto the KG5 firmware which was the firmware in Sept-Oct. Well YMMV, some devices just run smoother than others even if they are both of the same model, based on experience.

what's the big difference between ICS and JB?
I had an N7 and the only difference I can find is Google Now (which did nothing for me on my tablet)
Also, what will we lose?
I know flash is not present but can still be loaded on, although not seen anyone say it works, but not looked that hard.
BBC iplayer?
anybody knows when is the update?
im waiting the update to my GT 3110
im from portugal, i dont know if the update out at same day for all...??!?!?
great thread
i am waiting for jb for my GT 3110 too, does anybody know when we will get the update?
I hope the "official" update for the Galaxy Tab 2 with have these issues fixed that the currently leaked versions have....
-portrait only home screens
-mike not working in some apps
-battery percentage on notification bar

Butter. Really, most of the differences are not changes you can see. They cleaned up the code and are compiling it with a newer toolchain. It helped optimize things more and provides for a more fluid interface.
I have an unlocked version. According to the TmoNews article, the unlocked versions should see the update first as they they have to go through carrier testing.
Hopefully the Tab version will come out quickly, then we'll just have to wait for AT&T to muck around with uit for 6 months before the rest of the devices get it.
There's a video with all changes uploaded in youtube, I can't post it 'cause I'm a new member but is there, the google event release of jb almost 3 months ago.

Second that. I still cannot hold any tablet but my p7500. Streamlined design, materials, the feel is just SO MUCH BETTER than on Note 10 and GT2 (p51*0).
Yep, there's no JB planned, but I'd reccomend WATCHING tryptosyll's builds closely. Stable and I really feel we might get a VERY nice 4.1.2
I picked up a tab 3 today, just wondering if its been rooted yet, anybody know?

I know but there is no Tab 3 section
Just curious. I saw that they recently released the Tab 3. What does it have over the Tab 2 besides a home button? Specs seem almost the same.
The main differences between the two are the processor 1.2Ghz and the 1.3 megapixel camera. It also has a nice alluminum bezel, micro usb port and the home button. Other than that not much difference.
Sent from my SM-T210R using XDA Premium HD app
yep, they dropped the funky charger, micro usb port like you said and the entire body is less wide--my screen protector from the tab 2 hangs off on both sides.
looking forward to a new section!!
Tab 3 7.0 rootable yet?
Do people able to root the device yet? Can we use the same method as the tab 2 7 ? Will it brick or anything?
Unless you see a specific root instruction for your device, do not try anything.
No matter how similar tab2 and tab3 are, they are different devices. Just wait for the new section for your device to be created.
Stop bringing your questions here, cuz we can't answer them. We all have tab2. How would we know?
There are probably dedicated threads for nexus 7.2 but nothing for our tab 3 yet. My 8 will be delivered tomorrow. Can't wait to root and debloat.

Im curious. Those of you who purchased the Tab3 7 inch. Are you upgrading from another 7 inch tab? What tab is this one replacing?
I am upgrading from the tab 2 7 inch just because they were out of stock on a return. wish I hadn't the tab 3 is no big difference, the stock rom is bloated and yes, the internet gets dropped when idle for me too.
I got the 8". Replacing a 1st gen Kindle Fire - tired of being restricted to the Amazon App Store etc (and rooting of course takes away the instant video and free kindle book prime benefits) . Also have the Galaxy S Blaze phone and very happy with it which led me to the Tab 3. 8" is a really nice size for use as an e-reader.
On both the Tab 3 and my S Blaze, I had trouble keeping WiFi connection when connected to my N router (I run one G and one N b/c I don't have a dual-band that will maintain the N speed and we still have some G only devices). They stay connected to the G (Linksys) with no problem. Never investigated further as it doesn't make enough difference for me to care. Something to think about.
