Hey guys
Have a prety dumb question but forgive me Im a new Iphone convert. Im trying to find an easier way to send multiple pics in one MMS via my Atrix 4G. I found a way to do it but it seems a little overly complicated for such a beast of a phone. Any other way besides the slideshow route? Or maybe an app that can make it faster?
Thanks
I believe handcent sms has batch send / multiple sending and supports mms. Its free in the market.

Also if you go into your gallery and multi-select the ones you want to send you can then use the share function to send them that way.
Can't believe I missed that. Sorry to waste a thread. Thanks for the help guys.

I try asking here, because I find different answers around. Is it possible to use sms or mms straight out of the box?

i have the wifi version and when I go to the Google voice webpage I can send text from mind I tested it yesterday.
I use Textplus on my wifi 10.1, it does sms and mms through wifi and it's free

Ive got the 10.1v which comes with 3g and we definately dont have send sms/mms capabilities straight out of the box. not sure how other people are able to have it.
I also havent found another app that gives the tablet that option to send sms/mms on its own, but will have a look at this textplus app mentioned above.
You could use the textab program ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133277 ) but this app relies on your phone being connected to the device and uses the phones sms send receive function, merely displaying the messages on the tab and allowing you to send a message through the tablet.
and we are unable to make calls either, no dialer program, and havent really looked but dont think there would be one that would be honeycomb compatible for download from the market.
This i was afraid of! I have seen some sales spec. say can sent sms/mms. I have a wifi us version now, and i not find textplus etc not really that great.
I want to be able to text sms direct from the 3g - otherwise the model is useless for me.

Keep in mind that the 10.1v is a somewhat older device than the 10.1 - so there may be features in the (brand new, just hitting the market) 10.1 3G not present in the older (available in some other countries for at least some time) 10.1v 3G.
someone can confirm if the 10.1 3g is able to sms??
I asked 5 shops now - and got different answers!!

This is what the sales-ad. says:
" Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 3G*brings you the new and creative means, which comes with novel assortment of the straightforward messaging features like SMS, MMS, Email, Push Email and IM. These messaging options are simple, instant and elaborative to covey you, your ideas and messages."
But asking the shop direct - they dont know
Asking Samsung. . . sent an email 2 weeks ago - and still no answer

Thanks for the info, but I NOT interested in any web solutions. I just want to know if the 3g version can or can not sent sms - out of the box.
I quess nobody actually know it - even Samsung seems to be in doubt LOL

i've got the 10.1v. it definetly can't send sms out of the box. there's no such sms-app on the tablet. i guess it's the same with the 10.1
but installing an app like chompsms should enable the 3g tablets to send sms through their sim-card, not a web-service. (did not test that, because i don't need sms functionality on my tablet. for this i use my mobil )
i know chompsms and thats a greart app. I used it on my phone before.
If chomp is working on the tab - i can live with it - as it have far more features.
Thanks. . .

I have 10.1 3g and it works fine. It has messaging app insalled same as any android phone, however does not have any app to make phone calls.

Before I got my Nexus, I used my Droid X as my primary internet browsing device. Now, of course, I use my Nexus for that but I don't have an easy way of sending links or pictures to all my friends (preferably straight to their SMS inboxes). I'm using Google Voice for texting but you can't send pictures. Anyone have any good alternatives? It would be nice to have a hacked stock Messaging app that can utilize your Google Voice number or something but I'm not sure how feasible this is. Also if anyone could assist me in getting calls to work through the Voice app I'd appreciate that too
Check out Tablet Talk in play store. Don't know if u can send pictures though.

I hate that samsung converts a picture in the SMS app to a slideshow. Is there anyway around this?
And why do they do this?
Its not just Samsung. Even on my HTC and aosp, mms shows up as a slide show.

That's the only good thing I liked about my Xperia X10. It would show SMS pictures individually.
Anybody know why Samsung (and I guess HTC) do this?

I use to use Handcent, but honestly I try to reduce the amount of redundant apps on my phones. I guess I'll just have to live with it.
The space is negligible for redundant apps. And I tried samsungs stock messaging. Back to handcent, tried and true for me, plus emoji.

Do people still use MMS ? Have you tried a Sms replacement app, will probably have it's own way of handling the image when it arrives.

If you can tell us how to send media via sms, I'm sure we would all ditch mms.
What??

Use other app for that.
Well a quick alternative to this: open the slideshow, press menu, press 'save attachments'. Then you can save the images to the SD card and view them as images.

Read the specifications of the MMS format first.
It's a multimedia video file! You can even record a video within the MMS specs limit and send it to someone, with sound! How do you expect it to be played back when even if you are sending one picture its actually translated into a 5 second slideshow / video.
It's the old phones that didn't support this. Save the image from your mms if you're so upset with it being a video.
So I installed the 4.4 rom on my XT907 and it works great. Fast and super smooth. The only issue so far is that I can not seem to send pictures in a text. I've tried the stock app. handscent and Verizon messaging. None of them seem to be working. Anyone have any insight on how to work a round this?

Apparently MMS is broken. Nothing we can do about it ATM...

That's what I was thinking and I know this is very early alpha but to be honest of that is fixed this rom is good enough for a daily driver. I also had a little noise when listening to Pandora One over Bluetooth I haven't had much of a chance to try anything with that this far. However the noise was not there while running the Carbon ROM 4.3 dailies.

There is also no options to change the apn settings. On the 4.4 thread in the general section, someone mentioned that mms works when using the phone w/t-mobile. The rom is also based off of the tmobile moto x. Hopefully someone will figure it out soon.
Ahhhh that makes sense then as I am on Verizon. I'm hoping that someone can get it working. I am very impressed at how well this works so far. Dhacker and the rest really do great work.

in the FWIW department, I don't use stock messaging for sending pics. given that google hangouts has taken over messaging capabilities, I just send pics via hangouts (granted, the other user must have hangouts as well, but since all androids have hangouts and hangouts is available for iPhone, I've just convinced my iPhone friends to get the app).
otherwise, I would normally send pics via e-mail or post them to my picasa web album and send folks a link instead - that way, it won't count against my mobile data.
Stupid question but, where is this Kit kat Thread/ rom?
EDIT: Doh, I found it in General, I was looking in Development. _thanks!
work around for receiving MMS (not sure if sending works) is to download 8sms (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thinkleft.eightyeightsms.mms&hl=en).
In setting add your phone number and chage MMS port to 80. Dont remember where I read this but it works for receiving MMS

I've been receiving mms thru hangouts the entire time. Sending
Is the issue.
So when I send pictures through go sms the KB's are low which results in blurry pictures sent. I ticked the mark for preserve image resolution and have raised the mms limit high and still sends photos under 100 KB... Through stock message app it will send over 1000 KB.. Any ideas?
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
I don't know anything about that particular messaging app, but you should be aware that MMS message attachments (pics, videos) are routinely transcoded, re-sized, or re-compressed by the carriers. This happens *after* the message leaves your device, and you have absolutely no control over this. The only reason some message apps provide a user preference (for sending) is so that users on limited data plans don't accidentally chew up too much of their data quota.
There are no "standard rules" for this carrier manipulation of your multimedia content - carriers can do whatever they want, whenever they want. And they do. Generally though, smaller messages are less likely to get fooled around with too much (Carriers will aggressively re-size/compress larger images and videos because it saves them in system capacity when the message is sent to the destination handset).
If you want control over how your pictures look - don't send them by MMS. Use any other method.
Definitely true.. But with the stock message app the photo sends big.. But I use go sms as a preference so I was wondering if anyone knew why it would resize so small. On my old phone I changed a few things and the picture too would send big on go sms and now on new phone (gn3) it doesn't.

Go sms pro has an option called "Big MMS" if you try to send anything over 300kb.
