O2 MMS problem - Galaxy S II General

I'm currently on KE7 firmware O2 branded but had same problem when using KE1 & 2.
Using the default pre loaded settings but can't send mms to anyone other than myself. Are others on O2 experiencing same. If not can you please let me know your settings.
Thanks

Works fine for me.

I use O2 network for MMS no problem .
If its an O2 phone get O2 to set it up .
As always check your MMS setings message centre you have entered the correct number for O2 MMS .
jje

I had to input my settings manually using the link I posted after debranding with Odin as it messed up my settings. If you have the standard O2 branding, I don't understand why mms isn't working.
As jje suggested, you should take it into an O2 shop and they will sort it for you.
Edit: I didn't think O2 branded phones were on ke7. Afaik they are only on ke2' ?

mine was carphonewarehouse on o2, mates phone was O2.
just change setting to o2 setting link again this time worked, MMS sent first time. I look at my mates phone to see if its on ke2 or ke7

Hey guys
Ok so i too was having difficulty receiving MMS's (and probably sending too, although i haven't tried). I think it was because i changed my phone's CSC to XEU (i'm on O2). My phone has two APN's, one it seems is for mobile internet (APN: mobile.o2.co.uk) and the other is for MMS (APN: wap.o2.co.uk). I recently flashed KF3, so i updated a few of the settings in the MMS APN to those in the O2 link posted a little earlier. And when i selected the MMS APN and turned on my mobile data i was finally able to view the MMS's i'd received.
So my question is this. Every time i receive an MMS, do i have to go into the settings and choose the MMS APN? Is there a way to just have one APN that does both? I don't want to go changing my main mobile internet APN settings before i know for sure.
Cheers guys!

I gave up using the stock mms app. Could never send mms to at all.
I now use Handcent exclusively & have no problems sending mms

I too don't use the stock sms/mms app, i use Go Sms.
But can anyone tell me if you can use a single APN for both internet & MMS or do you have to keep switching between the two? I saw the link someone posted about what the MMS settings were for O2 users (like me) but the settings seemed to be for GPRS not mobile internet. If someone else on O2 could post their combined APN settings i'd be very grateful!

I can only send MMS if my contact number has +[country code] before the main number. It gets stuck on 'sending' otherwise!

02 MMS messenging. sending MMS not working
Hi
Got a Samsung Galaxy S2 and been using the ressurection remix ICS rom for some time but found my only annoying gripe was I wasn't able to send MMS.
I am on 02 UK.
I have now upgraded to resurrection 2.0 to see if it made any difference and it hasn't worked.
I am on Android version 4.04. The baseband is I9100XXLPR and the kernel is Siyah v3.2.6+ which is on the resurrection rom anyway.
I found some setting on 02 which showed how to configure setting for MMS on galaxy S2 but still have found it doesnt work.
http://mobilereviews.o2.co.uk/devices/device.jsp?deviceId=738&tab=8&step=2&settingId=3885
I have also phoned 02 Customer support and they couldnt help and tried to send some settings over the network but still didnt work. I think receiving MMS is no issue.
Is this because I am running another ROM and kernel? I have looked on the forums and some people can get it working but I am having no such luck.
Is anyone able to help?

Have you checked the image size? I found this on Resurrection that I couldn't send an MMS but then tried with a lower res photo and it worked fine. Seemed that the full 8MP image was being rejected - this was on Orange mind, but was doing my head in till I tried a smaller image
Don't think it has anything to do with the ROM i just assumed it was a network limit?

I had this problem.
The maximum size to send a MMS in the UK is 300k. I installed GoSMS and set 300k as the limit and this solved my problem.

Hi
I can confirm the size of pictures are under 300k and they still don't send I have tried different pictures varying different sizes :-(
It just comes up after a few moments trying to send the message to say messaging has stopped responding....

Sounds more like a general problem with MMS and getting the config from O2, can only suggest trying to clear / reset the settings. Enter them manually or get them resent from O2 from the website.
MMS works on RR other than the network size limit - useful tip that GO SMS sets the size, cheers Aaron!

Ireland 02 MMS settings please?

Would anyone be able to take the time to post here in detail the settings for O2 MMS in Ireland on a contract bill plan?
I was on to o2 support but it didn't work and got the impression the staff wasn't really up to 100% on the XDA - probably more used to regular cellphones.
I'd appreciate the help from someone with a working mms service on o2 contract.
Many thanks to all
Conor
you could try the o2 website,
there is a section in mms area (get the settings), which allows you to send yourself the appropriate settings via sms.
try it anyway and let us know how u get on.
I'm in the north so the settings may not be applicable for your region.
good luck anyway.
Thanks but no settings there
Cheers, but they only allow you to send the settings and install them automatically by sms. There's no option to send to an XDA - just Nokia etc...
Can someone just copy them down here from their o2 monthly contract XDA?
Thanks again
Conor
ok conor,
we'll give it a go then, what details do you need and I'lli try to supply them.
MMS blues...
Thanks David!
I'm not sure if N. Ireland settings are the same for Galway but sure, let's see!
For a start, does it connect via MMS Network, or GPRS or My ISP, or The Internet etc.?
I can't send at all. But I do receive notifications of a new mms and who it's from, but when I tap download it tries to download but gets stuck there forever without succeeding. Here's what I got from o2 support but it doesn't work.
Connect to server O2IE (the server name)
Gateway - 192.168.090.074
Server address http://mmsc.mms.o2.ie:8002 (I think!)
Thanks again!

MMS O2 Ireland
Hi Dan
Thanks for that - but I doubt the uk settings would work in Ireland.
O2 here tried to help so I guess I'm registered for these services.
GPRS works fine the prob is just MMS
Thanks again though!
If any Irish o2 pay monthly users could copy down their settings it might help.
Best regards to all
Conor
Conor,
sorry this took so long, got kinda busy elsewere.
have just looked and the connection was set on My Work Network,
I thought it was/should be, via the MMS network.
will have to try and see if it is still working.
the rest of the settings you gave matched mine except for the .ie replacing the .uk, and different gateway no's, this again could be a UK thing.
If I remember correctly I had some serious trouble at the beginning, I think it was something to do with the Rom version, when I upgraded it from 1.60, the MMS service started to function perfectly.
Rom?
Hi
My ROM is 1.60.00WWE
do you know if I'm up to date?
Cheers!
Conor
Hi Conor,
If you unlock your extended rom, there will be a couple of files relating to O2 customisation. It's made easier by using the horrible Active Today settings which can custimise your device for use in Ireland. I'm sure the settings are also made for the mms program. (sorry, I don't use it myself!)
As for the rom version, I think the lastest O2 rom is 1.66 which is available from their site, you could also go to version 1.72 which is available from this site. I'm at 1.72 and think it's fine.
Cheerio
Howard
Thanks Howard, David and all!
I'll try upgrading the RoM
very grateful indeed

O2 XDA Mini S with vodafone MMS problems

I've recently acquired an xda mini s from 02 as a free upgrade, however i want to put a vodafone sim card in it.
I've got the gprs working, but the mms isnt at all.
I've tried numerous cab files, can anyone help? maybe typing the settings in by hand?
please
Jaxx
sounds like you've done a soft reset after a hard reset bypassing the extended rom install? The only way to get the MMS application is to hard reset and do a "Basic" install then remove the O2 stuff from the Windows startup folder. Once you've done this you'll have the MMS app with O2 settings that you can just change to Vodafone settings.
Ok, tried this and still not workin.
What is going on here?!
do you meand MMS isn't working still or you still don't even have MMS in Pocket outlook
Do a search for removing the O2 stuff, there are many topics with the cab files to install to recover the MMS inbox
If however you have the inbox, just not the settings call vodafone and get them to tell / e-mail you
or go here http://www.filesaveas.com/gprs.html
I managed to fix this problem finally.
The problem was that the MMS software was trying to connect using the vodafone Live access point, which isn't correct. had to set up a whole new connection for the MMS settings, it is now working fine.
Any chance you could post those settings here as I'm having exactly the same problem?
SMS is fine it's just the MMS I cant get working, Inbox is there just the setting that seem to be wrong.
This helped me out:

I can now send, but not receive MMS with my voda sim on my mini-s
Perfect Thanks,
I can now send and recieve MMS, SMS and Surf the "world wide wait"
Not sure why you cant recieve MMS though, I followed your instructions to the letter and all worked straight away, albeit a bit slow but then I think that's a tarrif thing with Vodafone. (I'm on a corporate contract with my own unlocked Mini-s)
I dont suppose you know the URL to access the Vodafone live site as well do you?
Hello, I have the same issue. But l'm on O2 , using o2 mini S , device. I can receive and download MMS , but I can't send MMS to another person. Is the any thing I miss? l'm using corporate mode.
Not sure about the corporate mode but I do know that unless you have the settings in exactly the right places you will have problems.
This link from earlier in the post should help you solve your problem though.
The second link is for Vodafone but use it to give you an idea of where you should be setting up the various elements.
You could also try searching for "O2 MMS Settings"

Re: MMS capability after rom flash
After several research attempts, I am unable to find a solution ot my current issue.
I used the flash rom to unlock sim and aside from the keyboard layout being changed (which I found the fix for and will try later tonight), I lost mms functionality.
There is no mms folder in the messaging application. There is no mms settings page, no mms anything at all.
I have not noticed anyone else having this problem.
Any ideas?
Thank you all very much in advance.

I was able to get it working by installing a cab file called arcsoft composer Z ( u can find somewhere in the posts) but when i installed that my text messaging stop working! so once i uninstalled the composer Z software my text started working again and i found my mms setting were available for editing... its just happened to work out like that i guess....

[q] cyanogenmod mms problem

I'm going crazy with the question of the MMS in this build of American Android. I'm from Spain and my phone company Telstra (yoigo). I tried everything I've read but can not send or receive MMS. The APN is correct. Not if the problem is the build or in Spain we have to change any line of buildprop. I would appreciate answering me to post it in my country.
Thanks
make sure max message size is not set above 300k
ROM default mismatch some APN data.
Try correct your APN data.
For example, in my case: MMSC rom defaul was h t t p://202.222.042.204:8002
but MMS only starts to work using h t t p://202.222.42.204:8002
Follow and type your APN data.(the correct one for your country and carrier etc)
Look carefully for any differences betewen rom default and carrier request.

The APN is correct. I have no problems with other builds. I come to think that only works in U.S.A. so I tried to change the DNS in the buildprop. This has not solved the problem. I connected and disconnected and have exclusive 2G connection on and off wifi as I read in a previous post. Neither works. Thanks for the reply. Can you think of something else?

i dont just mean teh message is actually smaller than 300k, i mean that the setting 'max mms size' is set to 300.
I cant find this particular setting in my rom, lol, but ive seen it given as a solution twice recently, I suspect the roms in question are using the tmobile 1000k default size, and those threads have reference to a max mms size setting in their mms settings screen.

MMS requires Mobile Data on
Hi,
I can send and receive MMS as long as Mobile Data is on. However, adding a MMS APN does not work; when Mobile Data is off, MMS can't be sent or received.
I've verified the Netcom Norway MMS APN settings to be correct, and this works on my LeeDroid 2.2.1 configuration. For Cyanogenmod, this does however not work. I've verified this both on my DHD (CM 7.0.0) and HD2 (CM7RC4).
Too bad, as I configured the HD2 for my gf, but she does not have a data plan...
Thor
I can also confirm on hy Desire GSM on Telstra running CM7 stable that you can only send/receive MMS if mobile data is enabled.
Can anyone say if this standard/expected behavior for Android roms on Telstra?
Today i had a problem where i couldn’t send MMS messages using my SGS Android phone. Im currently running Cyanogenmod nightly 181 so i went looking for a fix.
This is what worked for me:
1. Download root explorer (It costs a few $ from the market, but well worth it) or an equivilent and give it root priviledges.
2. Locate the following file, telephony.db: /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
and
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
3. Rename the file. (e.g xxtelephony.db.xx) or delete it (I deleted it)
4. Restart your phone
5. Now try sending an MMS.
That solved my problem and i can now send MMS messages again. This fix may also work for other roms, so give it a try if you’re experiencing problems.
I had the same issue in my Desire S (Saga) with CM7. Send/Receive MMS only with enabled Data APN. I tried to delete the telephony.db and restarted my phone. After the reboot mms works fine, but they set my Data APN back to default (i renamed the apn to be sure that the data connection is disabled). I renamed it again. After the reboot also the telephony.db is back.
My first test was positiv, i now can send / receive MMS. Hope that this will not change.

MMS Hell

Hi everyone,
I'm having big issues with MMS and my GSII.
I bought it from Expansys.
I live in Australia.
I've got it running on the Telstra NextG Network.
I haven't touched it in ways Samsung wouldn't approve of.
I can't send MMS messages.
I've rang Telstra many, many times and they set this up and I turned it on and off and they sent me settings and I turned it on and off and they walked me through entering the settings manually and they transferred me to the really technical team, as high as you can go on high priority.
They told me to pull out the battery and sim card without turning the phone off, and to wait three minutes and try again and if that didn't work, to contact Samsung.
Of course, it still didn't work, and, of course, I came here.
I hope you guys can help.
:s
I'm not sure what information I need to give you that is helpful here, but I've taken some screenshots that may be related to the problem.
I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me out. I'm not sure what to do if I can't get MMSs to work.

Which error does your phone give you?
Server response error.
edit:
Just added the picture showing the error. Forgot that one first time.
I had that problem sending myself a mms. Server response error. On top of the fact that all mms coming in and out was a video instead of a picture with the stock mms.apk. I installed cm7 mms.apk and everything displays perfectly and i just sent myself a message.

Mine works fine and the only difference between my settings and yours is that I have authentication type for both Telstra Internet and Telstra MMS set to "PAP or CHAP". Try changing both these settings.
I have the same problem. After factory reset mms works for a day or two then the same error appears. I am on Rogers in Canada. All default apn/mms settings are correct.

How would I go about doing this? Sorry, I'm a bit of a noob.
Does it require rooting? I want to stay away from rooting until it's simple and fail-safe.

Try this: MMS "APN" Telestra.Internet and not Telestra.mms (since mms initiates telestra.internet
I had the same problem with T-Mobile and my sgs2. I think the problem lies with the messaging app as all was fine once I changed to go SMS, problem solved.
When I am sending MMS, I turn Wi-Fi off.
I usually add Topic/Subject and some text to my MMS.
This way my MMS sending works almost 90%.
Sometimes I have to delete MMS which is in "sending" status and try again. This way I got 100% success rate. I have no errors though. Try PAP on both Internet and MMS APN settings.
Have the same problem. Try to manually enter the phonenumber to the recipient. That works for me
hey guys, ive been trawling the internet for solutions and still cant get my mms to work (cant send or receive). has anyone got a working solution? i read somewhere that the galaxy s had a similar problem and needed a combined apn for internet and mms - does anyone have this?
(im on telstra in australia)
What a Nightmare
I also had this problem only SGS2. Bought from MobiCity and running in Australia on Telstra NextG. Unable to send MMS but all other SMS and internet working fine.
I looked up the Telstra website and entered their APN settings ... No MMS.
I looked up the Telstra settings on Ausdroid and entered these ... No MMS.
I found information on how to delete APN and put internet+MMS into a single APN as suggested for the original SGS ... No MMS. Grrrrrrrrr...
I used the Telstra website to SMS the APN settings direct to the phone ... No MMS and increasing frustration.
I sent an email to MobiCity telling them of my problem, as well as what I had already tried. They very helpfully sent me the Telstra APN settings ... which still didn't work.
I tried the suggestion mentioned here to type the phone number directly rather than use a contact from my Google contacts ... finally some success.
Then, thinking 'I'll be stuffed if I am going to lookup and type the number every time's, Installed GO SMS Pro from the Market, and it just works. Looks better, improved functionity including SMS scheduling. And Free.
It makes me think it is a problem with the stock messaging app. Anyway, thanks to the person who suggested GO SMS. Much appreciated.
I've was not able to send MMS to some contacts. It was the problem with spaces in numbers just like Outlook adds after the country code. I have cleared all spaces from numbers (via Kies) and now MMS works.
MMS error was something like 'cannot connect to server'. All settings for MMS was correct (like APN, ports, etc). SMS to a number with space works. Checked on 2 SGS2 with XXKE4 and XXKF2
I have a Hell of a nightmare as well with finding what I m looking for about MMS :
I want to change sending Priority to highest and can't seem to find a way in the SG2 menu or even with an app or MOD....
I posted a new thread on this issue.... : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16892768#post16892768
thanks for any help....
For all those who are on the Rogers network, I spoke to a tech rep yesterday and apparently it is a network bug that they are aware off and trying to fix. He said to try and input the contact numbers manually instead. I tried and it does work if you do it this way.
I am not on Telstra, but do you have the correct settings in the messaging app-settings-message centre/smsc ?
That was my prob a long time ago on my Sgs1.

I had the same problem. I had to remove the country code +61 from all my phone numbers for MMS to work. Standard MMS settings work just fine.
Big Thanks

Mine works fine and the only difference between my settings and yours is that I have authentication type for both Telstra Internet and Telstra MMS set to "PAP or CHAP". Try changing both these settings.

I just wanted say a big thanks for this information. I don't have a Samsung but an HTC HD2 and it appears that I was the only person on Earth who couldn't send an MMS with my nandroid rom on the HTC HD2... or there were lots living without it. Your suggestion re "PAP or CHAP" has MMS sending perfectly on my phone with Telstra NextG. Reproduceable too as I now have my wife's HTC HD2 sending MMS as well on Telstra!
