WP7 music player (Beta 2) - HTC Aria General

You will not be disappointed. Probably the best music player UI ever (at least the alpha versions were. Waiting for wp7 for the beta)

Technically this is released. Putting it in the market would cause some issues for the dev. I'd assume

But it is named Alpha2, so I assume that there will be a beta version (at least)...

Downloaded it. Love it. Any place to submit bugs/feature requests for development?

There is actually an updated version of this out called Alpha 3. You can find it on Fede's twitter page.
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App

Alpha 3 is much improved. Volume buttons seek working, and playback stops when you remove headphones now. Also no more lag in volume switching and seem like the album art has improved as well.

Wow, really nice music player. Deleting mixzing player as we speak.

Beta 4...amoungst other things, it now has a widget

alpha 4 is a big step from alpha 2. all the fc's i had encountered before are no longer, and you can actually read the now playing in the drop down notification.
really liking this. uninstalling doubletwist and hopefully wont be reinstalling again.
alpha 4 says it will expire june 15th. excited to see a final release around then for the market.

Alpha 5 is up:

The next thing Fede needs to add is a custom equalizer. Until then I have to stick with PowerAmp.
Aria CM 7.0.3 with XDA Premium App

very quick and smooth. noticed today (while still on alpha 4) the battery is used much less than earlier versions as well. listened to music for over two hours and it barely put a dent in the battery.

Cm7 has a built in equalizer. Plus there are a couple free ones in the market.

Awesome. Hopefully Google will release the Music API's soon, and we can get some integration with the Music beta going.

Tried it for over 2 weeks. The UI is great, but it still hasn't torn me from PowrrAmp paid. My personal opinion though.
Aria CM 7.0.3 with XDA Premium App

The only thing it really needs as of beta 5 is a scroll tab. It takes too long to have to scroll down through the entire track list. Well that and a search feature would be nice.

This is awesome, thanks for the find. I use this one. I like it because it finds the picture of the artist by it self. It's really cool! Thanks!

Widget please for the new music player in 2.2

I love the new music player and its features but for the life of me I don't understand why a widget was not included with this player.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I guess because the widget was for the android 2.1 player not the samsung player that comes with 2.2. Not to mention that would make it redundant having the controls in the notification bar after you start the app and a widget. What the should do on the other hand is give you the option to always have the controls shown in the notification bar. I also would have preferred a auto-rotation toggle over volume toggle... Because the volume buttons did a good job of that on their own, but now the simple task has become more complex and redundant...

may be bcos its not final yet??
Cough up $5.00 for PowerAmp and leave all default players as an afterthought.
Seriously, PowerAmp should be default. It's just that damn good.
Download Pure Music Widget from the market. Its a dollar, runs flawlessly, has like half a dozen widgets you can choose from and is awesome. Also works with almost every stock player on any device. Was actually my first purchase on Android.
Just get MusicMod. Free... Awesome...

Winamp has been working out for me. 2 widgets to choose from and lockscreen controls. Oh, its free too.

+1 on winamp

I second the need for a default widget, its crazy. The samsung music player is really nice, I rather use it than another one. I like the idea of always being able to keep the controls in the notification bar as an alternative to a widget though.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I got player pro but I'm really loving the look of the new player so yes a widget would be great.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I agree, the new stock player is nice. It is however lacking 2 important features for me though, the widget and headset controls. If they updated it to include those features, I'd drop winamp in a heartbeat. But until then...

Doubletwist for me. Lockscreen controls, nice simple widget. Player is free and I got the wireless sync with doubletwist desktop for $0.99. I found the sync works better than the Winamp one for me.

The features in poweramp are nice as is the ui, but the sound quality of the oem samsung player cannot be matched.

Exactly.. I hav always used "Mixzing" since the 'Moment' 1st came out & I went to Android.. but for the 1st time, the stock player really has my grasp.. I'm a Producer/mix engineer so I know what i hear as far as music goes (not sayin no one else does as well) but the look, function & the 5.1 thing did itfor me.. 5.1 feature is 2nd to none with any of the players mentioned period...

How do you feel about the new google music app?

I downloaded yesterday, and it's ages better than the old stok music app, but i feel its really "heavy" its the app that runs less smooth on my phone, somehting im bummed about is that the album art looks too small, i want it bigger ala winamp also the widget is HORRIBLE , it's been the same since android 1.5, we need more choices, there's not even a previous track button on the widget!
What music app? Android one or HTC? And choose htc music widget, it have back button.

Unless you're talking about stock music player and not google music service ?
HTCs player looks much better.
its a lil bit slow.
also dont like the landscape interface.

Now that we have 2.2, what are some killer apps I need?

I mean solely for Android 2.2+. I've already gotten Netflix, Crackle (sadly, doesn't work, the sound goes really, really slow) and a few games I got off of Amazon's deal of the day that were 2.2+ only. There's obviously Flash 10.3, too. The other one I got (which I've been trying to get ahold of since I got my phone) is Kongregate Arcade.
Anything you guys know of that's a really good Android 2.2+ app that I'm missing?
If you put up the money get voodoo control plus and get voodoo sound v10... it makes this phone sound awesome via headphones xP

I'm actually working on trying to get the i9000 front facing camera mod to work on our Continuum. I need an i400 I can tear apart and do some fitment testing. I've seen some photos of the i9000 camera and the i500 (Fascinate) camera which I think is the same as the Continuum camera. It might work with a little trimming here and there. Ill post back once I have some results.
This is gonna sound pretty silly but the new Captain America game requires 2.2. I'm not much of a gamer but I actually bought it for $1 in the market and it installed then after the ~150mb download it gave me the error message on my stock Continuum. Took my son to the movie and we loved it, was looking forward to letting him play the game(which was well reviewed). Bah.
So happy to see this 2.2 update stuff. I'm going to have to do my homework now and make a visit to the darkside. I love this phone, will be more than happy to de-bing and de-bloat it!
Speaking of games: Plants vs Zombies and Peggle on the Amazon App store.
Was lucky enough to catch them free, but could not get them to run on Eclair.
+1 for netflix and google-music.
Being able install google search has been very nice as well.
So the Flash works well with this release?
Yes. I just spent the weekend streaming a UFC event on it :3

PowerAmp and playerpro are pretty much the same in features, I always preferred playerpro's interface. UberMusic has a fantastic UI, it's made by the launcherpro dev.
If you haven't tried miui I encourage you to do so; it's my personal favorite rom and has the best music player IMO.

Thanks for the reply. I will try miui rom the next time I flash.
MIUI music player still the simple, clean, and great for me..recommended!

Better music player than sense 3.0 one?

I kinda hate the UI on the thing, browsing for music is complicated to say the least.
What are other music player options available for android? I would prefer something free but if its a paid app I'm willing to pay for it.
Also some of my music has incorrect album info, any way to edit this on the phone manually?
Thanks guys
I use PlayerPro from the market. It's a paid app but well worth it. Very easy to navigate and you can edit the song tags in the app.
Can I edit stuff for example, I Have two songs from The Killers, one says the artist is TheKillers (without the space)?. This causes 2 different artists to pop up
Going to start reading some reviews.
I'll give another Hell YA on PlayerPro. No matter what rom i'm on i HAVE to have playerpro. its one of the apps that solidified my love for android and its customizability. PlayerPro is literally the PERFECT media player.
EDIT: and yes, you can edit all the info and tags on all your media very easily
sweet, going to download the trial when I get home later, may end up purchasing it
Poweramp is one of the best out there, unfortunately its paid
definitely worth it however
I use cloudskipper. It's free and has a built in equalizer and pretty sweet lockscreen controls

poweramp.. all the way! paid but well worth it. If the song has lyrics, it will scroll em. If you want it loud, use the preamp. If you want it REALLY LOUD, QPST mod!!!

+1 for PlayerPro.
I could tell you a million things that I love about it (and why I chose it over PowerAmp), but I'll let you try out the trial and decide for yourself.
The PlayerPro trial will play music past the seven days, but it loses functionality. Read the reviews for the paid one along with the trial - but take some of the trial reviews lightly, some people are using it past the trial period and it isn't working to its full potential.

I agree. I too have tried many of the music players and I kept going back to PowerAmp. Great music player. Lots of settings. Easy to use. The ability to sort by folder is awesome.
