I obtained root and rebooted so I could wipe and flash the Syndicate ROM. I had it on my SD Card (at least I sure thought I did). After wiping, I choose to flash a zip file from the SD card, and the ROM file isn't there. Now I can't boot, I can't apply a ROM. What's my best bet here?

take out the sd card and just put it in another phone or on the computer and to the rom you want on it and then put it back in your phone
Did you check all the likely places? Sometimes I dl it to my phone and forget what folder it went to.
Since you have cwm its no biggie. Just power down as ^^ and 3 finger to your recovery.

Thanks. That did get the zip to become available in recovery, but unfortunately, I got a message that the installation was aborted because it couldn't open syndicatefro110-standard-signed.zip.

Thanks. I've rooted before (HTC Hero), but a few things have changed. I'm now downloading both versions of the ROM I want direct to the SD card (via adapter) and will try to recover using one of them.

Hey guys. It's been awhile since I've rooted my phone, and the only thing keeping me from flashing a new ROM was the fact that I intended to return my current Hero for one that wouldn't get dust under the screen (I have some in the lower left hand corner). Well, I've decided I'm either too lazy to go return it or I just don't care that much anymore. So, I would like to get a new ROM now In your opinion, what would be the fastest ROM right now, that is the most stable? Keep in mind, I do NOT want to use Apps2SD (I only have a Class 2 card). I also would like to eventually add those optimized APK's that have been zipaligned in the future, and I want a lock screen that is clear (displays carrier/time text though... I've seen one around somewhere), and I want a clear notifications pull-down. The only thing I've been paying attention to right now has been getting 2.0/2.1 on our phones, so I've lost track of all the ROM's that were made (maybe someone can sticky the ones BESIDES MoDaCo's?), so that's why I'm asking for your help.
Also, I've made a nandroid backup, and of course, rooted. Is there anything else I would have to do to flash a new ROM?
Thanks so much guys!
Fresh's 1.0 is my favorite
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584032
or his main site here: http://geekfor.me/
If you run the delock mod, it will remove the lock icon and make it clear:
http://bit.ly/delock
There is a known message app issue, make sure to run this update as well:
http://bit.ly/freshmsgpatch
Other than that, the apps are already zipaligned, just update via recovery.
Alright, that's pretty much what I needed to hear Thanks so much! Oh, and it doesn't have Apps 2SD right?
it does have apps2sd, but only uses it if your sd card has a EXT2/3 partition
i used fresh 1.0 as well. no complaints. however the new 2.1 rom looks tempting.

you don't have to restore to stock or anything, just run the install after making a backup and your existing settings/data will stay intact.
I'm not using apps2sd and running it just fine.
I think you can set it up if you prefer it, but I didn't want to.
so the option is there I believe if you do ever want it

no, just select choose zip

No, just flash over what you have now. It *should* work just fine.
to be honest, I can't recall.
try it without first, if it never boots all the way and sticks,, then power off and wipe data through recovery.

to my knowledge....no. i could be wrong though? i think the only thing you can flash is the stock RUU from your pc.
Even that would be welcome;
I"ll search for how to do it, or if someone wants to post on here too that'd be awesome
Hmm...
I wonder if it would be possible to set up an RUU, swap out the rom.zip with a custom ROM, and flash using that...
Probably not, I bet it has a checksum of some sort.
search for the stock RUU, download it and flash it. it's on here, flips made it i think. i just did it to my old hero i sent back to sprint. i did it without a sd card and from my pc.

this is how you flash windows mobile roms, without hard spl
There is a thread with this info in it, but it is buried deep in over a hundred pages and I thought the warning for HelixLauncher bared having a new post.
Here is the link to download the update.
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/passion/signed-passion-FRF50-from-ERE27.1e519a24.zip
Looks like that link is dead... here is a mirror
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/113487/signed-passion-FRF50-from-ERE27.1e519a24.zip
And one more just in case the others go down.
http://www.filefactory.com/file/b1chb29/n/update-nexusone-FRF50-signed.zip
Warning!! If you use Helixlauncher, uninstall or remove its defaults. It will go into a Force Close loop, making the phone unusable without booting into recovery again and performing a factory wipe/reset.
How to flash the update, I used these steps and it worked fine, but remember, there is always the possibility to brick the phone.
1. Download file from link up there.
2. Rename the file to update.zip.
3. Note that if you're using Windows and don't have "show file extentsions" turned on in the file explorer you won't see a .zip. Just rename it to "update" (no quotes, of course) because it's already a zipped file.
4. Copy the update.zip file onto your microSD card.
5. With your Nexus One off, hold down the trackball and press the power button.
6. You'll be booted into a white screen with three Android robots on skateboards. Select "Bootloader."
7. On the next screen, select "Recovery."
8. Your phone will reboot, giving you a picture of the Android robot and an exclamation point inside a triangle.
9. Now press the power button and volume up button at the same time. It could take a couple of tries.
10. Now (using the trackball this time) choose "Apply sdcard:update.zip" and let things run their course.
Taken from the update-1 instructions on:
http://www.androidcentral.com/how-ma...your-nexus-one
Also, I don't think my phone rebooted own its own after the update. After a minute or two, I tried hitting power and power+vol up to get the menu and reset manually. During that time it reset and booted up fine. So I say give it a few minutes before trying to reboot after the update finishes.
Edit: a ton of threads have popped into existence about froyo, but I didn't see any with early warnings about Helixlauncher.... ah well, maybe this post can be helpful for someone out there.
Edit 2: From what I am seeing, AT&T phones are on a different build of Android than the T-mobile N1. Seems like if you have an AT&T version you are out of luck for right now. This update was meant for the demo devices given to the Press outlets around launch, before the AT&T phone existed.

Thanks!
about the HELIXLAUNCHER:
there is NO NEED FOR WIPING everything! i had the same problem after updating and these force kills were really anoying.
here's what you have to do
1. remove your sim card (necessary because other wise your phone will reboot in safe mode - don't ask me why, but it did)
2. get into safe mode: (menu button long press while the X flashes on the load, give it a few tries, it vibrate long if it works)
3. delete helix
4. reboot
5. pray and thank me ;-)
worked for me!
Trying to go from stock DK28 to EB13 (then wait for an OTA to EC05), Samsung obviously doesn't have the file on their site anymore - and they don't have one for EC05 either. Did anyone save a link to it? I'd rather not bother with Odin if the .exe is available. I searched the boards and couldn't find a link.
Thanks in advance.
I have it floating around somewhere. I will see if I can find it and upload to dropbox.
Thanks a lot.

Run the exe it will install the flashing utility. Then just launch it and it will literally walk you step by step on what you need to do (with pictures). It is great - I wish they would do this every time rather then OTA updates.

Thing is, after I wiped, I could not figure out how to get the new rom installed. I did, but NOW I can't get it to connect to laptop inDM Command mode. It keeps showing up as my HTC but I can't find a port for it to finish my mission.
