rooted, otherwise stock 1.83 atrix (not unlocked)
Just spent a few hours getting my new phone all set up. When I was done I turned wifi off to see how fast mobile data was here. Now wifi won't turn back on.
When you turn it on, it sits at turning on for a few seconds, then shows scanning for a few, then wifi turns back off.
None of the usual tricks bring it back. On older android phones, deleting wpa_supplicant.conf would usually clear this up, but that didn't help either.
Just gave up and did a factory reset, even in the setup wizard wifi wont turn on. :/

Now that is crappy as hell.
SBF it with the 1.83 on the forums, and then try everything once more. If the wifi still flips out on you, warranty it.

Every once in a while I get no network/3G. I've been receiving this ever since I rooted on 2.3.4
I always have to remove the battery/sim (multiple times, sometimes) to get it back working.
Has this ever happened to you? Is there a fix?
I get that sometimes after turning wifi off. Just go into settings and turn your 3G off and then back on again. That makes it start up again for me.
I was reading another forum about sod. I have had this problem on all custom roms so went to ICS ota and still had sod. In the other forum the guy said to, "forget you wifi", so after I tell it to forget. No sod, not a fix but at least it works now.

Yep. I forget me wifi all the time, then have to go home and get it.
If I understand you correctly, you are leaving wifi running, and "forgetting/removing" the currently remembered wifi access points. Is this correct? As the only way to "forget" a wifi access point, is to have wifi on, then turned off after deleting the access points.

Yes, touch my connection that is already connected and select forget and then turn off wifi. Don't know if turning off wifi is necessary yet but will test.
Normally 1 min till sod and just tried to wake up after several hours and sod. Had gone 3 hour. Oh well not had any screen flicker since ice ota and really smooth and battery is back to excellent.
In last 2 weeks, I have "hard time" to turn the wi-fi on. Sometimes turn on and sometimes do not. It does not matter of what rom I am using, I still have the problem. Is my phone going to sh..?. Thanks.

More information would be necessary to tell you that.
- Do you see APs?
- Is the reported signal good?
- When you connect, does it connect at all or indicate a failure?
- If it connects, does it drop and reconnect continuously?
- Does it work on open APs with no security?
- Did you install any items that modify your wireless properties (like PMR?)
- Did you try with stock and see if it connects more quickly?
There are lots of potential issues totally aside from your WLAN radio failing.
The problem that I have is that in cm10 roms ( try few) the wi-fi slider sometimes is highliter and will turn on and sometimes will not be highlater and will not turn on. I went back to GB rom original and in Sense, I can turn on, but with error. It happen about 2 weeks ago and ever since, I have that problem. I can not remember what I did at that time, but I did not :mess: with radio. I did took the back cover of ( try to fix the sound). Did I mess up something there?. Look like the wi-fi acting up and will turn on when want to - I got nothing to say - just like my ex.
I decided to use some "bad" words against my phone and the wi-fi turn it self on. I am not joking. Go figure. The problem that I see - I can not use those kind of words in public.

Hmm. If you're having that happen on stock, that's not good.
Okay, so you did something to it mechanically two weeks ago for sound issues and then your radio started to act up? When you say 'back cover', do you mean just popping the battery cover off, or taking it apart to fix connections? Perhaps something got knocked loose or unseated?
I did remove the motherboard cover to get to the speaker. I think that my have mess up something. Time for new phone any way. Thanks.
I had CM11 on my Nexus 4 and did a full wipe, then flashed the official Lollipop image (using flash-all.sh script). The process went smooth, without any problems.
Now, I am having WiFi issues. When I turn on WiFi from quick settings it changes the icon, but doesn't connect to the network yet. If I try to access WiFi settings it opens them up, but I can see only the actionbar and a blank white screen. No networks shown. Sometimes I even get "The app is not responding dialog". It sits like this for about 30-60 seconds and after that it connects to the network and I am able to access WiFi settings.
Sometimes I can't turn WiFi on at all. Quick settings don't change the WiFi icon to the ON state. If I try to turn it on from the Settings, the switch does literally nothing - not even "Turning WiFi on..." shows up.
I tried to reflash the system - still get these issues. Tried reflashing just the radio module - didn't fix it. No idea what to do. KitKat worked just fine.
Does anyone else have similar problems?
Same issues, but on a Nexus 10.
I have exactly the same issues as you, but on a Nexus 10. Running LRX21P 5.0 Lollipop.

I used Wugfresh 1.9.6
Downloaded and installed LRX21T
Did a complete wipe (cache and factory reset)
Did a selective restore of ~75 apps from Google backup
Played with the machine for hours.
Rebooted, now got no wifi
Anyone suggest a workaround?
EDIT: I came across this post in the Nexus 5 Thread , where he suggests changing your router's channel to something below 12. I changed mine from 13 to 8 and now wifi seems to be working.
EDIT2: Sadly the above was a red herring. The problem seems more complex. Hopefully Google will release a fix soon

I don't think my problem depends on the available WiFi networks. But thanks for the response.
I have the exact same issues, Wifi doesn't turn on at all. It doesn't matter if I press the quick settings button or the button in the menu. It says Wifi on, but nothing happens. After the screen goes dark, Wifi turned itself off again.
Any suggestions? Thank you!

I'm having the exact same issue. Wiped with ADB and flashed LRX21T factory image from Google's website. No error codes during flash.
Wifi is great - if you leave it on all the time. As soon as it turns off, it will NOT turn on. I get no error message, no timeout like it usually does when Wifi isn't working properly, no crash report. Nothing. Just a stalled Wifi acting like it's turning on. If I exit Wifi settings page, and come back, it shows as being off. Turn it on, and it just hangs the same way.
So frustrating.
It's for sure not the network I'm on, as it also doesn't turn on when I'm not near Wifi, or when I'm at a friend's house. Rebooting the phones makes the Wifi work again...until it turns off for ANY reason. Then we're back at square 1.
I'm having this same issue...
My WiFi seems to turn itself off. Then there is no way I can get it to turn back on unless I reboot the phone.
Very frustrating.
I have the same issue.I sideloaded the OTA and everything went great,no errors during the installation.I was on stock 4.4.4.
When I turn on the Wifi it takes around 30 sec to connect to a network. If i click on the Wifi menu in the setting it usually freezes or I get a black screen. After that Wifi works fine, but another thing I noticed it doesn't remember new networks.I don't know if a factory reset would help...
Anyone find a solution yet? Did a factory reset eliminate the problem for somebody?
I got the same thing. Currently, I'm using Power Toggles to do the on/off setting.

Are you saying that Power Toggles fix the problem?
I'm facing a different issue. Whether I have WiFi on or off, it always appears active in the battery usage stats ('scanning always available' is off)
WiFi was off when the screen was off from about 3 am to 2 pm.

I am having the same issue. very frustrating. it was working perfectly last night on my home network, but now it wont connect to my work network. it has the same issues as everyone else. the wifi toggle will turn on, but it will not show any networks. then after a couple of seconds it will turn itself off.
^^i am having that issue as well. the battery usage stat page is showing wifi as on even though it is off.
Have the same issue. After some standby time, turning Wifi on again, it showed me networks where I am not close to anymore and didn't show me the actual networks where I am right now. This seems to be a serious bug that needs fixing. I don't want to reboot my phone to fix it. Didn't Google delayed the Lollipop-Update because of some Wifi issues?
I have all the symptoms listed in this thread. I filed a bug report too: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=80028&q=LRX21T
Found this thread when this problem popped up for me after flashing the factory images one by one. Might try to find a source-built ROM using a later version to see if it got fixed.

Ok, so my phone has this problem where it keeps turning on and off randomly, which I think is now known is an issue with some LG G2's and you know I hate it but I guesss I can live with it. Even though if any of you have a solution for that please tell me. But now one time when it turned off and then powered back on, the wifi stopped working. I don't mean my network, I mean the actual wifi on my phone. When I scroll down my notification bar, the wifi logo is grey but it's flashing, like it usually does when you turn it on, but it doesn't turn blue. When I got to the wifi section on my setting, the on and off switch is greyed out (but faintly blue, even though you can't touch it), and when I tap on the wifi section itself, it just says "wifi turning on.." HELP PLEASE

re flash the rom. i have things happened like that before, wiping all and flashing another rom fix, or go back to stock, sometimes the options settings are grey out. that fixes it.
