When I record video using the camera app I cannot stream this to my ps3 or Sony TV using allshare or twonkyserver because the file format is not recognised (mp4) I don't really need to record in this hd... so I really need to record in non mp4 format or transcode it to something else.... does this make any sense? Anyone got any ideas?

I own few Sony HD CAM / DSLT camera device. Some record MP4 HD video file, some record AVCHD format full HD video.
Since ARC has HDMI output to TV, so it will be useful carry one device to anyway.
I can replay MP4 HD video files, but not able to play full HD video, does Sony device fully compatible to each of their product ?
Any good recommendation.
thanks
James

Hi guys, I have some questions about DLNA on GalaxyS.
I have the device that you can find in my signature.
I use the DLNA withTv-out to see films on my 37'' FullHd Tv, but I noticed some problems, hope that you can help me to solve them.
The player does not open MKV files.
The player does not keep the aspect ratio of the films. 16:9 videos have no problems, but the 2.39.1 (2.40) movies are distorted
If these problems can't be solved with the standard player (there aren't aspect ratio options, instead the classic video player of the SGS) there are better players that can replace the standard one?
Thanks
I think these are the very annoying limitations of dlna. You have to use avi afaik, i'm not sure about mp4 though.

Uhm, i don't understand what is "avi afaik". Should i convert the mkv films?
afaik - as far as I know
avi is container for audio video, like mkv

Aaaah sorry
DLNA supports all kind of codecs under avi (divx, mpeg4, etc) but not MKV.
I think that there is no solution about this problem

Actually I think it is a limitation of the tv set. Because the other day I went to bestbuy infront of the television section. Fired up dlna and found tons of tv sets there to use it with.
Long story short I had a 720 mkv video of tottenham vs real madrid and was able to play it on a LG tv. As a matter of fact everything was able to play on the lg tv. But on samsung only avi's was allowed to play video.
I have used MoboPlayer, VPlayer, RockPlayer and they all stutter when I play avi videos.
Are there any recommendations on how to eliminate the stutter on these players or a different player that might be more effective?
Usually depends on the bitrate of the file. And also avi and mkv with less than 2gig plays nicely on rockplayer and moboplayer in my experience.

I was wondering if the Bravia engine works when using third-party videoplayer or picture viewer...
Use
1. ARCMEDIA
2. VITAL PLAYER
If you put the .avi files in DCIM maybe it will appear in the pictures app and you'll be able to read it with stock video player ? Maybe i'm totally wrong

DCIM is for everything recorded with the camera and has nothing to do with the gallery widget or the gallery itself, but the last h.264 mp4 i made for the Arc wasn't read by the stock player.
Arcmedia interface is a bit crap.. and there's no homescreen widget either.. wonder if there's a way of modding the stock media player to use more codecs?
Is there a way to play mp4 and m4v videos on android? If so how?

if the file doesn't play natively, you can always convert them using a program like handbrake.
Mx video player
Mx player works great for the videos ive ripped. What can I use to play or remove the drm from videos i've d/l from itunes?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
There is no hack for drm (not to mention that to post one here or anywhere else would be highly illegal). My only suggestion is to sign up for Netflix and play your Apple videos on an iPod Touch.
Terminators run on Android...
hey
i was looking for a program to convert my videos so i can watch them optimally on the nexus 7
any suggestions?
thanks

I don't think you need to re-encode your videos. Personally, I just use MX player. It supports almost all video formats. You can download the app for free on the Play Store.
+1 for MX Player.
Can't say I've found a video it won't play tbh.

Bs player works better for me. Mx sometimes degrades picture quality.

+1 for MX player. So far plays anything I've thrown at it.
1080p Anime MXV files no problem.
Only files I have had problems with were ones that were poorly encoded.
