Is anyone else getting weird youtube playback on the A500? A lot of times the video will just stop and won't load up anymore about halfway through playback-
I have had this problem too, so I make sue its standard def and it works out OK from there. I believe an update will fix this issue which is supposed to come from Acer in June.
I have experienced major buffering times. Kind of annoying!!!!! Hope that with the 3.1 update this gets fixed.!!!!!!!!

This has been happening just recently on my tab, but also my DroidX when doing HD. Could be from another issue. Day I bought my tab it did videos just great.
* For detail; My DroidX is running on Gingerbread!
When I watch a Youtube video on the A500 it seems to be a 50/50 chance it will stop running the videostream after a few secs, while the audio stream happily plays away. When watching the same videos with my Archos 10.1 there is no issue.
Same here
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I only recently started having this issue as well. It was well after the OTA update, but up until not too long ago mine started randomly stopping between 25% and 75% through HD youtube videos. Hopefully the update fixes it. My Captivate started getting much more picky about playing (SD of course) videos over 3g. Maybe its something on youtube's end as well? I've seen in over places that a number of people have been having some trouble with youtube keeping up as of late.
One (kind of) fix that I've found is that videos sometimes play better through the browser on the tab... Food for thought.
using my friends tab the past week and having all kinds of flash issues.
YouTube video and audio are pretty much never in sync. Other flash based sites just freeze after a few seconds. Is this normal?
Use dolphin beta for pad.works well for me
is it just the Acer?
The beta browser is an improvement, but there are still some issues. This is frustrating I am guessing its a software not hardware issue?

Hey guys
I bought a xoom a couple days ago here in Canada, and Im updated to 3.1 [latest official update here].
I find that some videos in youtube cause various screen distortions, almost like audio noise is being displayed on the screen. So far this only happens in youtube. I've seen this happen across the video player area, and I've also seen it happen elsewhere on the screen.
If its just the app, then its no problem. But I worry that this is something else and may be a hardware issue so I want to get it taken care of before the 14 day return period. Any ideas?

I would test every app with audio and video to see if it really is only the YouTube app. Also try YouTube via the browser. I never use the app, so I can't give much feedback there (no pun intended).
I have downloaded a bunch of players and haven't seen the behavior with any of them,
but I'm still worried. And uncertain.

I have the same issues sometimes with my phone.
I think YouTube has good days and bad days with streaming...especially in HD.
I could be wrong...but I dont think its something to worry about.
I tried to search but found no recent threads on this.
Has anyone else found that Netflix video and audio go out of sync pretty regularly??? I find that the video stutters for a second, and the audio is then out of sync. The video speeds up and catches up with the audio a short time later, then shortly later the problem happens again.
I have netflix on my tablet o.o and it works great. No out of sync audio with video or any problems

Odd.... Are you using a ROM or anything??? I am totally stock (not even rooted yet).
I've read about it on another site but not experienced it myself. Are you on the most up to date version of Netflix?

What is your download speed? Your internet speeds could be too slow.

I'm pretty sure its gotta be your internet speeds bro.
I meant to add in my original post that it definitely wasn't my bandwidth.
Any other ideas on a stock 10.1???
The last version of Netflix was horrible like that for me, but the current is perfect. You probably already did this, but uninstall and re-install? Hope it works for you.
The current version of Netflix works great for me. I'm on Task's latest rom.

I am using Overcome's ROM at the moment.
I posted earlier that I had not had the same problem but last night I was watching Top Gear on Netflix and experienced some pretty bad stuttering, but when I played the same show today it was fine.
Sometimes when I start Netflix its out of sync and/or stuttery. Usually I just reboot the tab and then it works fine.
I have the same issue.. My audio/video will get out of sync. I have a T-Mobile galaxy tab 10.1 with stock everything without a root.
I was having this same issue wile watching some videos with my kids today. I usualy fixed its self but it was very annoying. I was on stock 3.2 at the time, latest version of netflix and my intenet is prety darn fast.
I'm running Task's 7.0 rom at the moment. I'll have to test and see if it makes a difference.
I am having some video issues. For some reason. within the browser and Youtube apps, when I play a video, the video plays very rapidly, without sound. About every one second, the video progresses between 13-18 seconds almost like im fast-forwarding. Any ideas? Nothing special is done to my TF, its now stock. I was having screen issues after I got my Transformer at the beginning of December, so I unrooted it through the most recent OTA and sent it in for warranty repair. I have had it for weeks and haven't noticed the problem, but honestly I can't say that I am positive I've watched a video since I got it back. I haven't been taking my tab to campus because the wifi there is a b**ch to log onto, and at home I've been using my PC because its easier to do most of my homework there. So I haven't been using it a whole lot but now that I want to, its pissing me off.

Hi guys,
So whenever I'm watching a video with the YouTube app in HD it constantly stop play, loads, then plays, then loads then play.....you get the idea. At first I though it was a bandwidth issue but if I'm on other WiFi connections that I know are faster than mine I have the same issue. If I take it off of HD mode it runs fine. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a known fix for it? Or is this maybe a WiFi hardware issue with the N10? It sucks not being able to watch YouTube videos on my N10. Thanks for the feedback guys!

ya mine just keeps trying to load every like 30 seconds, its horrible. Issue only happens in HD.
To be honest, I'd be more willing to peg this issue (which I've seen as well from time to time) to the Nexus 10's rather underwhelming Wi-Fi performance. It's the one thing about Android that always really bugs me-- of all the devices I've owned, the iPad/iPod Touch (gifted that one though to my roommate) have had the fewest issues with Wi-Fi. And it's bizarre. There's no reason it should happen, but I've seen the gauntlet of problems (including everyone's favorite "Avoiding poor connection").
installed smarttube app from play store and no issue withe the same video. no problems with skype video. only youtube - even just 10 feet from router with every other app rocking it.

It's probably partly because of your connection speed and partly because of the way buffering works on the native Android app, which seems badly done.
Generally speaking, the native Youtube app for Android is pretty badly done. It doesn't let you choose the exact resolution you want like on the Flash player, ie 360p, 480p, 720p, or 1080p, only HD or not. It will automatically start downloading in HD if it thinks your connection is fast enough and won't let you switch to non-HD until after it has buffered in HD and starts playing a bit. It doesn't let you order a channel's videos by popularity, though you can get around that by going to the website, ordering by popularity, and then clicking on the videos from there. It will buffer a video, but if you switch to another app and then come back, it will often randomly lose that buffering, meaning you have to wait while it downloads all over again.
It is amazing how bad this app is after so many years of being out.

By far and away though, the biggest annoyance for me (after the ones you listed) was introduced more recently. Why, oh why, Google, would you not let me disable watch suggestions? They never work, especially with my subscriptions!

Sometimes I know the connection is okay, but YouTube just likes to be a jerk. It happens to me occasionally, but something I've dealt with.
Generally, I download the YouTube video and watch it (or watch it on my train ride later!). Usually those kind of apps are helpful even if you have a slow connection so you don't get that stuttering when trying to watch a video.
I've heard some good things about this YouTube Downloading app. Personally, I haven't tried it; I use TubeMate from the amazon app-store.
In a different way, this should help.

I'm watching a video side by side with my Note 2 and it looks like the Note 3 stutters when playing back the same video. Nothing crazy but it's there. I mean there's stuttering in the browser. Now there's stuttering in Youtube. Videos my freaking 3 year old hacked touch pad can play smoothly. What the hell is going on here?
I can't be the only one experiencing this. I'm starting to regret upgrading to the Note 3. My only hope is a custom rom comes along and solves all this crap.
No issues with me, and I watch two videos at a time. I'm using a T-Mobile n3.

The same thing is happening to me but only when watching the Hulu plus app. I switch it to med quality, everything plays smooth. But only in High quality its unwatchable. It might be the app itself.

I too am having these issues. Minor stuttering on Youtube App and Hulu Plus app on high settings Major Stuttering. I guess I'm trying to determine if this is a software/app issue or a hardware issue. I also tried a Movie Trailers app with HD Trailers. I think it was called Cine Movie Trailers, and it had minor stuttering like the youtube app. If someone can try these apps specially the Hulu Plus app which seems to have the biggest problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Wan to make sure before I request an exchange.
Thanks!
It could be smart pause, try disabling it.

Dont bother with an exchange. It has to be a software issue because our devices are more than capable of playing videos. Besides im on my second exchange and the same stuttering happens in both apps

I have this issue on my tmobile Note 3. I first noticed it in the Hulu Plus app whenever I set the quality to high. Second time I noticed it was streaming video through video players such as mx video and the stock video player. This would happen with standard avi videos as well as 720, 1080 videos. Haven't tested youtube though.
Hello everyone!
Update: So I went to my local AT&T store to check these issues on the demo unit and installed the Hulu Plus app and the playback is exactly the same that we're experiencing. On the YouTube app though, the playback was smooth as butter and what I noticed was the YouTube app on the demo unit had the old YouTube logo on it's icon. So when I got home I uninstalled the youtube app updates and returned it to it's factory installed state. That resolved the YouTube problem!!
As for the Hulu Plus app, I contacted Hulu and went through their troubleshooting steps with no success and then answered some questions about my device. The representative then stated that the data was passed on to their mobile developers. So I'll keep anyone updated if that yields some results. If you're having these issues with Hulu Plus, I encourage you to notify it to hulu customer support on their web page. They gave me a 2 week credit on my subscription for my inconvenience.
Hope this gets resolved soon.

Thanks. The hulu plus app is definitely jacked. What i find interesting is the adds usually play right, but when it gets to the actual show, it stutters.

Yeah, I found that odd also. But I think the ads play at a lower picture quality. That's what I think anyways. I'm not sure what's happening there
Hi everyone,
Just to let you guys know that Hulu sent me an email saying that they "put a fix in place on their side of things" and instructed me to shut down my device for 60 seconds and turn it on and play a video. So I did and videos seem to be playing smooth. No more stuttering! The app seems to have lost the option to choose video quality instead it chooses it automatically depending on your connection speed. Video quality is very good though!

So have you tried to uninstall Apex to see if the stuttering in YouTube went away? I have Nova installed and can't remember if I tried the youtube app while I still had Touchwiz on because I installed Nova almost right away.
I'm going to try this tomorrow I guess just to say I tried it because you never know. Though I doubt it because I also have stuttering in scrolling on almost any browser and that I definitely checked while I was still fully stock, no Nova and no root.
