Several questions

Hey guys, just a few questions:
-if you add birthday data to your contacts, will you get notified on someone's birthday?
-> I ask this because I can see some of my contacts' birthdays in htc calendar as an all day event (how do you add events?)
-Is there an easier way adding tasks to manila homescreen than with calendar appointments? for example just typing what you need to do and then seeing it on the screen?

Contacts within TF3D are not conected I assume thats what your using, birthdays that show up are usually because they have been added in outlook contacts
to add a new event go to menu in calender and add new event and fill in the information need whether it be all day or hourly etc.

you can always disable the Home screen and just use windows then you can check tasks etc in options and then they will show up on home screen ..........does that make sense?

Google calendar sync on Android/Hero.

Hi all,
playing with the Hero. I am syncing my google calendar with my Hero and anything I add to the google calendar gets sync'd down to the Hero, but if I delete something on there Hero it doesn't seem to delete it on google calendar or if I add a new date on the hero, it doesn't seem to put it in google calendar.
Any tips?

worked one bit out. I need to make sure when I add the appt, it is added to the correct calendar, not the local Hero one. Now to sort the deletion bit
I can now add dates on the hero and they appear on google calendar.

How did you solve the problem?? I have the same problem, if I create a calender event in the Hero it get synced correctly to the google web calender, but if I delete it in the Hero it will not get deleted in the google web calender.
Note that if I instead delete it in the web calender if works so the problem is only when you delete an event in the Hero.

Thanks for pointing this out... I never noticed that you need to select the correct calendar or nothing gets synced to Google and thus back down to my Mac.
Anyone know how to make a particular calendar the default or if you can delete 'My Calendar' and the 'Outlook Calendar' ? Neither of which I would use.

The mobile remembers the last calender you selected so once you added an event to the google calender it will be the default calender.

Just recived a mail from HTC Supoort that they can confirm that this is a bug in the HTC Hero calender, so I guess the solution is either to try to remove the Hero calender an installa the standard one or to wait for an update from HTC :-(

hmmm... doesn't seem to sync deleted events at all to Google. Better ensure that any deleted events are done online or on the Mac/PC Google synced calendar.
Did they say when it will be fixed ?

you can also hide the outlook and my calendar
in calendar, press menu and then calendars
here you can untick the my calendar and outlook.
and JesperDS is correct, it should remember the last one you selected when you created an item and automaticlly default to that one the next time you create one.

Hi,
I have just noticed that despite having events in my Google calendar which go back many months/years (e.g Annual Leave or Shifts worked), my Hero doesnt seem to sync anything prior to Mid July 2009 in its calendar.
All that appears prior to mid July is peoples birthdays.
Anyone got any ideas how I can set it to synce EVERY event/item in my Google calendar going back several years??

Google calendar sync stopped
It started with Wi-Fi and now the same error message comes with gprs too.
The message is: "Calendar Storage has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again".
This comes after 15 sec use.

Google calendar question on Hero

I have searched and although I can find similar references, my question has not been covered...
I have set up a sync from my Outlook Calendar to my Google calendar, but when I select that calendar on my Hero, it is blank (even though on my computer it is populated.) Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong, please?

My google calendar didnt start working properly (adding in public holidays etc) until I opened it manually added an event on the add event screen changed to the google calendar in the dropdown at the top.
Apart from checking your google account settings on the phone are correct / match the only other thing I can think of is http://www.google.com/sync/pc.html and do it backwards.

Adding Calendar Item - Guests?

It's only a small thing, but can anyone tell me why when I add a calendar event, it invites the calendar name as a guest?
So, I have 3 Google Calendars of my own, Personal, Rota and Work. If I add an appointment to my work rota it appears on Google Calendar (web version) with a little question mark. When I go into it, 'Work' is down as a guest for which it is awaiting a response. I have to remove the guest and save it (only cause I want to keep it looking neat )
Does anyone know why it does this?

Googlemail calendar not synching to X10 or entried made on X10 to Googlem calendar

Hi everyone!
Need some advice please? I have GMail and Calendar working perfectly in my X10 but my friend’s calendar does not synch to her own X10..
On the X10,
Settings – Data Synchronisation – Google mail is checked..
Then choose select sync application – Google sync,
Background data,
Auto synchronisation,
Calendar,
Contacts
Are all checked..
Select Calendar,
From menu select more – My calendars
Both UK holidays and [email protected]
Are both checked.
All seems OK on the PC!
My idea is that when she set up the calendar and it asked Calendar to X10, X10 to calendar or bother directions, she maybe did something wrong there.
I cannot find those settings to change them!
Not sure if I delete the calendar from Google on the PC then add it again, if it would resolve the issue…
Or delete from the phone and reinstall that way.
I don't want to delete the google account from her phone because she added many calendar entries directly.
Any ideas most welcomed!!

I had a same problame. Delete from the phone and add new one.

If you don't want to lose calendar entries made on the phone, you should check out SE Sync:
https://account.sonyericsson.com/login
And on the phone: Settings - data sync - choose sync service/software - SE sync
It is free, works very smoothly, I have no idea why SE tries to hide it from everyone.
You would be able to store all calendar entries to SE Sync website and recover them after you have cleared the phone calendar.

I've seen somewhere on here that syncing can be re-enabled by disassociating the phone with the google account and then putting it back in.

@im_iceman I tried that but only for 30 minutes, and did not switch the phone off. I will try it again on Monday.

You can also try settings - applications - manage applications - clear the storage of both calendar storage and calendar.
That should make the calendar app sync again with the Google server.

Calendar question
Hi there!
I have been following this forum for many months now and find it the most useful place; all of you are doing a great job here!
I don't want to create a new thread, so writing my question here.
I wanted to have a look at the Calendar function of the X10 and went to the local store. They gave me an unlocked/unbranded one to play with for a good 20 minutes. Surprisingly there was no way to actually enter the Calendar application. In any attempt it required to fill in my Google account.
I have asked in many places if the main Calendar application of X10 is web-oriented or it is local (on phone). Many ppl said it IS local an there is no need to have a data connection at all to use the Calendar (of course, if you want to sync you need data, that's a different story).
Anyway, despite changing many options and settings (not to sync Calendar, not to use Google account, etc.) I have still no luck in entering the Calendar even to have a look at.
Note: X10 which I used in store was in no-SIM mode (there was no SIM within).
If you have any suggestions or some kind of workaround, please share them.

Yes, the problem is that she only entered her calendar items on the phone!
I will see her on Monday to try things again!
