how to delete an email on phone but not in gmail account? - G2 and Desire Z General

Hi fellows,
so I got my Desire Z (I'm from Germany) yesterday and now I don't know how to proper set up my email...
What I have now:
I set up 3 google mail accounts in "mail" (not to be confused with "google mail"), and i set the pull interval to 30 mins. When I receive an email, and I delete it, it will be deleted in my google mail account as well.
What I would like to have:
My google emails get pushed to my phone. If I delete an email on my phone, the email in my gmail account should not be deleted.
How would I go about this?
Thanks!

Install k9mail (the best email client for android). In account settings change the value of "when I delete a message" from "Delete from server" to "Do not delete on server" or "Mark as read on server".

its need to set in mail setting.

Set up 2nd email account for "send from" only?

Hi,
I have my Gmail email forwarding to another POP email that is pulled down into my main email account on my PPC (Imate JasJar). What I'd like to do is set it up so that when I receive an email from someone who sent their message to my Gmail account I can send my response back to them showing a "from" address of my Gmail addy, not my POP addy.
I was able to do this on my Tmobile sidekick, I think by just setting up another email account that it never checked that had my normal POP settings but displayed a "from" address of my choosing. Then when composing a reply it allowed me to choose which addy I was using to send from.
I tried setting up a 2nd email account on my JasJar using my Gmail pop settings, but when I went to send an email from it also started to download 400-500 of my emails from my Gmail account.
There's got to be a way to do this, right?
Well, you could change the "outgoing mail" settings in your second pop account by choosing to use different outgoing settings, and entering your G-Mail settings.
That way you'd only have one pop account shown, which would receive mail from your second account only but send through your G-Mail account...
Hmm... That might work pretty out pretty well, I'm going to give it a test run today. Thanks fo the help.

Google sync on HTC hero with mail app?

After the new announcement for push email on the iphone using microsoft exchange, I have become interested in attempting this on my hero.
I know I can add gmail accounts to both the gmail app and the mail app on the hero, but there is a reason I want to try the exchange method. The gmail app gets push email, but the mail app doesn't. However, I much prefer the mail app on the hero, along with the mail widget. If using this method will work, it can mean I can use the mail app, along with push gmail.
Has anyone tried to add their gmail account to their hero using this method? I've tried, but it says it is unable to add the account. The account is verified successfuly, it just cannot be added. I'm not sure whether or not this is a temporary issue.
Any input will be appreciated. Thanks.
I was unable to add an exchange account (gmail) this afternoon, but I am now able to do so. Probably too many people rush to try that earlier today.
I added my second gmail account as an exchange account, and then set sync frequency as "as items arrive" i.e. push. Emails indeed arrive very quickly.
The problem is, I cannot send email! I tried composing a new mail, or replying to a received email. After I press "Send", the mail app acted like the email was sent but the other side never it. What's more, I couldn't find the email I sent in the "Sent" or "Out" or "Draft" folders. Manually refreshing the account doesn't seem to work either. I don't know if this is the problem of the mail app, or the problem with gmail's server.
Another problem is, com.htc.provider got force closed very frequently... although it has no problem restarting itself.
Okay, now I realize the com.htc.provider problem is caused by Peep rather than Google Sync http://bit.ly/5uWoi
The problem about sending email still exist though, and some of my received emails are getting "error" as their subjects, although the bodies of the emails display fine.

Its the same for me:
* sent emails never received by the other side, ... :-(
* some emails have "error" as their sender instead of the correct email adress :-(
Any ideas for solution are welcome.

I have the same problem. Maybe there's something wrong with Google's IMAP service? I have restored to an old backup just in case it was a settings issue but it still doesn't work.
Hope there is a solution soon.
Tried using the HTC Mail app and IMAP for Gmail seems to be working just fine. But the Google Mail app is still not working.
Any idea how to set the IMAP setting for the Google Mail app manually?
Don't mix up IMAP with Exchange (Google Sync).
IMAP for Gmail (or Google Apps) has been working perfectly for me, but IMAP does not support push.
Exchange Server for Gmail (or Google Apps) supports push and push email works fine. But it has problem sending out emails and some emails received has "error" as their subjects.
Why is Exchange Server for Gmail useful? Well, it is useful if you have more than one Gmail/Google Apps account (my first one is my personal Gmail account, and the second one is my university's Google Apps email account) The built in Gmail app support push, but it only support one account. Before Google enabled Exchange Server for Gmail yesterday, the only way to set up the other Gmail account is to set it up as a IMAP account. Now I can set it up as an Exchange Server account to get push email, however it is having problem mentioned above... I am not sure if this is a problem with Gmail's server or a problem with the HTC mail app.
To set up IMAP for Google App, just set it up as normal Gmail (i.e. imap.gmail.com and smtp.gmail.com, yes SSL), and enter the whole Google App email address as your username.
To set up Exchange for Gmail or Google App, use m.google.com as sever name and leave domain blank. Enter your Google account username and password, and if you are using Google App, enter the whole email address as username as above.
Hi tsekh501,
have you any news on this topic?
Would love to hear good / working news ... ;-)
Receiving "error" in the subject line here too. I am very interested to learn if any further progress been made..

I love that Google added Gmail exchange support. IMAP Idle is close, but Exchange is true push which is necessary for some of us. I think IMAP Idle gives much better battery life though IMO

But its not combined with google right? I see a separate app for Google push mail.
Just configure Gmail (using your PC) and add your various email accounts ("Accounts and import" settings tab). It automatically adds different labels for each email, thus on your Android phone you will see each email message in your inbox labeled accordingly. It is also good to check the "Reply from the same address the message was sent to"
check box in "Accounts and import" settings tab(using your PC).
This is how I used my G1 before selling it in order to buy a Nexus One
I realize that this is a google question, but also I noticed that on the N1 gmail client, I am NOT receiving the imported/forwarded mail from my old outside POP3 accounts that are normally (still) pulled into my web-based list of new mail on my primary gmail account.
Does anyone know why, or if there is a way to to fix this? The imported messages are not being pushed to the N1.
[UPDATE: It seems to have taken a while, but all of my imported POP3 mail is now being imported/pushed from my primary gmail account to the N1... thank you gmail!]

Gmail emails not deleting?

Hi everyone,
I have searched the forum for similar problems but can't find anything. I have my email set to check email every 15 minutes. Even after I delete the emails from my phone, when gmail is checked 15 minutes later, the emails return once again as "new". On the computer version of gmail, the emails are still unread in the inbox.
How can I set the "delete" on the email tab to actually get rid of the email? (preferable send the email to the archive function of gmail)
Thanks in advance.
anyone?????
I have the save problem
Use activesync (with push) instead of POP/imap, works perfectly.
Mine did the same thing until I changed my mail settings to say "delete from server" and also "immediately" if you don't change your delete settings to immediate then it wont actually erase the mail until the next time it connects and downloads it all over again.
GMAIL not deleting - Windows Mobile 6.5
I'm running WinMo 6.5 Cell ROM on a Touch Pro 2 from HTC.
I have exactly the same problem. I delete GMAIL messages from the Inbox on my handset. Next time the phone does a Send/Receive it brings down all the new mail again from the GMAIL server. Basically the handset is not marking mail as being deleted, nor is it marking the mail as read on the server.
I'm using GMAIL in MAPI/SMTP mode on the handset as this is what is accepted by default when setting up the GMAIL account on the device.
I've no experience of using ActiveSync/PUSH for mail. How do you set it up?

I use activesync to download all my messages from google, It also pulled my calendar and contacts to the handset too, I found the instructions by going to: wwwDOTgoogleDOTcom/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299 (wont let me post outside links, so Dot = .) Also on section 11 before syncing everything, I synced each item individually first then switched them all on as I was getting errors.
ActiveSync and PUSH MAIL for Google Mail is the best alternative for being able to hardly experience inbox and retrieval errors.
to delete emails go into your inbox and when you delete, use the left softkey (the bin icon) to delete and not the sense menu.
Gmail not syncing
I had the exact same issue. I searched forever until I found what worked for me. It appears to be an issue is you restore using nandroid. Here is the link on how to do it.
www(.)google(.)com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=113869
remove the () () of course.

[Q] email deleted on HD2 stay in Inbox

Hi, All
I have gmail account and use GMail app (not default email app). Everything is IMAP and Push, etc
When I delete email message on HD2 from Inbox it does not get deleted if I go to gmail.com.
It gets deleted from HD2/Inbox but it stays in Inbox on gmail.com
My "Accounts&Sync" for gmail is set to sync email.
My GMail settings on HD2 sync Inbox (last 7 days)
I even tried to manually hit "Refresh" button in GMail app to force sync. Still deleted (from Inbox on HD2) message stays (in gmail.com Inbox)
Also even if this deleted message is still on gmail.com/Inbox it DOES NOT come back to HD2/Inbox after syncing
Any ideas ?
did you set it up on gmail.com to delete messages thru sync

I'm not sure what you mean. My gmail.com settings are default.
"Settings->Forwarding and POP/IMAP" I have
When I mark a message in IMAP as deleted: -> Auto-Expunge on - Immediately update the server. (default)
and
When a message is marked as deleted and expunged from the last visible IMAP folder: -> Archive the message (default
