MDA is dead I think....Please read and help

I was in San Diego for a week, used my phone, flew back to baltimore, got out the air port made a couple of phone calls, got in the car and got home. When I took my phone out of the pocket to call someone, my phone wouldn't power on. I plugged the charger in, nothing's happening. No led lights, no charging. I plugged it in for an hour and still nothing. I tried the USB cable with the black and red wires trick, still nothing.
I don't know why my phone's dead.....
Did anyone else experience a problem like this?
is this fixable? anyone know how to fix it? Anyone willing to fix it for me?

Your Battery is probably completely dead and unfortunately a lot of time on wizards the battery won't charge again until you give it a little juice to get it going. There's 2 ways of doing that, one is with a 9v battery and the other involves hacking up a mini USB cord. I've explained the 9v battery one twice this week already and I've seen the USB one on here at least twice this week also so I'm going to let you do a little searching for them.
Here, I decided to be nice and find one of my posts for you that explains how to do the 9v method. Check out post #9 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=321375

hey thansk, but I did mention i tried the usb thing, and my gf has a 8125 so i tried her battery which was full and it still didn't do anything.
I'm going to try the 9v battery method..

If you tried with a fully loaded battery from the wizrad of your gf and it still did not work then there might be more than just an empty battery.
Did you try to get into bootloader mode or do a hard reset using other battery?

is the bootloader mode when u press the right side buttons? if so yes I did try it.
I think I'm going to open up the phone today and try to see if anything is loose in there.

To hard-reset you may try more than once ... when I do it sometimes I need to do it several times until the question appears to confirm the hard reset.

hmm, myphone died before to the point where it didnt charge, I recomend giing it a little juice, you can use the 9v battery, what I did is hacked up one of m wall chargers and did it that way, seperate the positive and negative wires then touch it to the + and - on the battery for like 5 seconds. after that just plug the phone in, and you should be good to go. hope it helps.

Experia: Battery status doesn´t update when inserting fully charged battery

Hi everybody,
I almost always managed to find answers on xda-developers to problems or wishes I had when tinkering with my phone.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a solution for this one and hence my first post:
I always keep a fully charged spare battery with me just in case I run out of juice and I can't recharge.
However, when I exchange the run down battery by the full one, my battery status doesn't change and the phone switches off after a short while.
So far the only thing that works is briefly plugging in the phone with the replaced battery in it which will update battery status to 100% charge.
Obviously, this defeats the purpose of carrying a spare one around.
Is there a way I can force winmo to reset the battery status or another way to resolve it?
I don't mind if I have to rummage around in the registry if necessary.

tat is the case with some batteries.. i have 3 batteries and only 1 that is acting that way.. all u need to do is carry a usb plug.. just plug it in when u are at work or anytin just for 30secs it will update to its full status.. or u can buy another battery so u get at least 2 battery that works..

That sounds like a simple but effective solution.
I will try it next time I replace my battery.
the weird thing is that it does it with Ericsson's original battery.
Nevertheless, I may not always have such a plug on me.
There must be a trigger though when the USB plug is inserted.
If we know how WinMo recognises a USB plug has been inserted (maybe a switch in the registry), we can fool it into thinking it was inserted, and I wouldn't have to carry a plug around.
Any other suggestions?

nah.. its not about the plug.. its more of the voltage.. there is a trigger sumwer in the battery that switches on when you charged full. the thing is if you use a non-official charger like battery clip charger which im using, it is not as smart as the official SE charger/usb plug.. i think its due to the battery being charge outside of the phone too.. in the beginning it was always doing it so i thought my battery is faulty.. but after awhile, even charging it through the battery clip charger i sometimes come up with full battery.. so i got no idea why this happen.. another thing that could help is once u boot the phone up and it says its empty battery/low battery, do a software softreset.. that sometimes trigger the switch and turn on the true battery power for me.. only on stubborn times that i need to use the usb plug.

I understand that in this case WinMo can't change the battery status without at least a minor external charge.
Let me ask you this. What eventually switches off the phone?
Is it the battery's power management chip that cuts further power to the phone, or does WinMo cut the power when the battery status reports 0% remaining charge.
In the letter case I could write a script telling WinMo to ignore the power warning for a predefined time, which should allow me to reach a power outlet.

i never tried tat b4.. but usually if its 0%.. there are times when i used xperia for extensively heavy usage and it suddenly shuts off on me while battery is still abt 20%.. i cant remember if its this battery as well.. since i always bring more than 2 battery it does not really bothers me as i got another battery to sustain.. but from what i recalled is not the windows mob status report warning that shuts it off.. more of the battery power itself..

I guess I'll have to get one of those penlite powered emergency chargers to kickstart my battery for now.
In the mean time I'll continue looking for alternative solutions and report them here if I find them.
Does anybody else have ideas?

excuse my curiousity, but how the hell do you guys get the phone to stay on while you swap the battery? As soon as I take my battery out, even if the phone is in standby, it loses all power and cold boots upon putting it back in and powering on...just wondering as it sounds like a more viable option now to carry a spare batt!

of course you power the phone down in the first place before you swap it. you cannot swap it while its on. well u can and it will turn off but that is pure stuffing up the phone. never do it to any fone as per advised by a sony ericsson repair guy as it stuffed some of the IC chip inside. always power down before changing battery likewise any other electronic device..

hey does those emergency chargers work to jump start it?? let me know if it does.. sounds like a brilliant idea, would be easy to use when u are on the go.. i might get one seeing that they are pretty cheap too..

[Q] After several cycles on WP7 HD2 won't charge

After several cycles on WP7 the batt was fully drained and now it won't charge (charge LED goes on for few seconds and then goes off). It won't load either, just switches off on DFT screen. Batt is standard.
Guess it is critical not to allow batt to drain fully on WP7?
Is there any solution to this?

Had a similar problem with Android...battery drained completely and wouldn't charge. I solved it by cutting the end off of a spare USB cable, removing the battery, and charging directly from the cable (red wire to positive/black to negative). After about twenty minutes I put the battery back in the phone and it booted Right up. Or, if you have more sense than me, you could just pick up an external battery charger...I'm just the hack apart a cable and do it caveman kinda Guy...

I can confirm a similar experience; I thought it was worth trying the fully-drain-then-fully-recharge regime suggested elsewhere on these forums as a means of extending battery life, which does struggle a bit on WP7.
The fully discharge bit was easy, but it is worth everyone bearing in mind that magldr - as advised, I believe - will not allow the phone to charge. As a result, I was getting into WP7 (just) only for it to almost immediately shut down. But it was at least doing a small amount of charging before it did.
After a sweaty fifteen minutes or so of restarts (I was having to take the battery out to force the restart as it wouldn't start on the power button), it decided it had enough charge to...well, charge and all was well.
My suggestion would be not to risk going beyond the critical warning WP7 gives, at least until magldr is able to offer charging.

Almost the same issue here, without having let the battery fully drained...
I can't charge my hd2 anymore.....if it's turned off.
But, it Can be charged if wp7 is running! I don't know why...
I had This issue when I received the phone. It took me a whole Day to charge the battery the first time : orange LED turning off after 10seconds (HD2 switched off or in wm6.5
Once the led is off, can't turn the phone on or charge it again until I remove and put the battery back.
It was in summer so I thought the phone was too hot, so I cooled the battery with a fan, replaced it, retryed... At least 10times, and it finally charged.
SO weird, I'll test This again with wp7, who knows?

I am wondering whether it is some kind of magldr bug?
I'll try the trick with the cable directly to the batt. It is not very practical though if you drain your batt, where there is no access to spare cabling.

Why dont you do some pics bud and create a topic?

I am cutting the cable as I write. Will take some pics.

If your battery drains completely, just remove it, replace it back. Without starting the phone, connect it to your PC. start and enter the bootloader. You'll be then able to charge. I did it like that last week.

Running cable directly to the batt is confirmed to work. Just revived mine with this trick.

Less of a bug and more of an unwanted side-effect of having this excellent capability, I think. I seem to recall that the developers are aware and looking to see what can be done.

I guess it is possible to completely drain the battery, in which case this won't work. But if there is some power, removing the battery and replacing it should kick the phone into life for long enough to do this. This was going to be my first try if persistent rebooting hadn't eventually worked.

Like I said, if connected, but not started, to your computer, you'll have enuff time to start it then and entering the bootloader, of course, you gotta be quick for this to work.
If it doesn't respond, don't laugh, confirmed to work, remove your battery like explained and put it for some mins in the fridge before replacing it (it's only chemistry playing here, somehow better than cutting a USB cable in 2).

You know nothing about chemistry at all! Cold kills battery charge if your going to use temperature use your armpit for 5 mins!

I finally made a dual boot Android/WP7.
At first, Android said my battery was fully charged, just like WP7, which is totally impossible as I used MAGLDR to format the SD card (wp7 & android partitions) and that it took me almost 1hour, without any possible way to charge the battery while I'm in bootloader mode.
But when I turned the phone off, plugged into the wall.......TADAA It was finally charging, with phone turned off
So, it seems that dual boot may be a way to solve this issue

You're arguing against yourself here aren't you? Cold may be fine for storage but you need heat to coax a little more power out. You even say 'you need to wait until they've warmed up before using them'.

Wrong idea, sorry guys.
I thought that HD2 was charging since I installed WP7 and Android in Dual Boot. But it's a fake : if the phone is turned off, and that I plug it, the orange led turns on. But that's all, even if I unplug the phone, the led remains turned on !!
And now, Android as well as WP7 are telling me that the battery is fully charged but I'm sure it's not even 50% full.

Not recognizing battery

So after a long fiasco of installing an old GB leak before installing the latest version, to running into force close loops and freezing at the M logo. So finally i reflashed everything and rebooted and bam! i finally got 596 to work. But i noticed that my battery logo had a question mark and that it basically wasn't recognizing my battery. I thought maybe a simple reboot will fix it, went in cwm and flashed the 596 deodexer and rebooted. Got into the lock screen when i noticed it immediately said Connect Charger. When i unlocked the screen after about 10 seconds it went black and my phone wouldn't turn on. If i connect it to pc the led flashes blue for a second meaning the battery is dead but with the battery not being recognized it cannot charge. If i connect it to a wall charger it loads up the M logo and goes to the battery charging screen, when you completely drain your phone and need to wait til its 5% to turn on, but again has a question mark in it. I don't have any external chargers either. Whats my best course of action? Do i have to go out and buy a new battery...? All helps appreciated.

If you can boot even for a second, boot into clockwork recovery and find the option to wipe battery stats. I would try that.
Also, even with a charge, booting while plugged into AC causes it to show the charging screen. Unplug it, turn on your phone, and in the middle of booting THEN plug it in.

Thank you for the reply, ill try wiping the batter stats asap might have to end up ghetto rigging a charge into it. Ive heard that car chargers/external chargers will still charge it, is this correct? I would love to try your second idea except for again i don't even have a charge anymore. i tap the lock button and the led flickers blue for half a second, which if im not mistaken means the battery is completely dead. While i guess its always possible, never really expected my phone to just randomly stop realizing there's a motorola batter inside of there.
Edit: also if im not mistaken i believe that i had tried to plug the charger into after/during boot up and it still says its not a certified battery or whatever the message is and refuses to charge.

Not entirely sure about the car charger idea. It might work. Kind of skeptical on that if it won't even charge when connected to a computer. You could always purchase a new battery, maybe the extended. If it doesn't work just return it. If you don't want to purchase one, I possibly could ship you an extra one just to borrow and try to see if it's a battery or phone issue.

If you have a friend with another droid x you could try borrowing his or her battery to see if the actual battery is the issue without buying one...
It sounds to me like the battery stats on your phone got corrupted when flashing the new software and need to be cleared, which as said before can be done in CW recovery. There is also an app called BatteryCalibration which will help the situation also after you actually get booted up.

I have actually seen the app before, at the time didnt really notice what it did but i understand a bit more now. If any of the actual charging methods work ill definitely try that. Might just have to hook it up to a split usb for a while to get a decent charge.

Thanks for all the help man, really appreciate it. Ill try the car charger i suppose, wont hurt. Worst case I do actually have a friend with a DX so i can see whats up with that. Ive been meaning to pick up the extended for a while now just never really got around to it, guess this might give me an excuse. thanks for the offer to send out a battery though

No problem. I've got a bunch of unused stock batteries for various phones from all the extended battery upgrades we've gotten.
In any case, if you can't wipe battery stats, trying a friends battery or something would be the next best thing.
What I would do if you borrow a battery, if it STILL shows the question mark then it is a phone problem. Boot into CWM and wipe battery stats while using your friends battery, then try your own.
Even if your friends battery works without giving the question mark, wipe stats anyways and maybe it will stop doing it for yours.

Great news gentlemen! so after trying the usb split usb method to charge my phone, the first time it didnt work. i just figured i didnt have the wires pushing on the battery poles enough so i retried it. Ended up forgetting it was plugged in and about 30-45 minutes later took it off. plug her in and my phone started up, good signs so far. Finally my os loaded and lo and behold, there's my battery showing green! So i quickly throw it on my wall charger and its charging too. Wiped my battery stats just in case anyways and reflashed everything. Got 596 loaded up and running and deodoxed. After trying to install a battery mod i got a few boot loops but after a wipe didn't work luckily i made a 596 nandroid before trying it. Flashed back to that and everything loaded up fine. Cant thank you guys enough for the help you've been. making a nandroid once my full set up is back to normal haha

[Q] Battery Dead? Cannot Boot? NIGHTY CM7

Hi, I have flashed my phone into the Nighty CM7, I finished setting up and restoring my apps, then I wanted to boot into ClockWork Recovery so that I can backup my rom.
However I ended up with a dead reboot, its stuck at the M Logo. I waited till my battery died. I charged the phone for a night, and I ended up with the big battery sign with a QUESTION mark in it, the light beside the USB Port wont let up.
I connect it to my computer using the USB Cable, the Light beside the port lit up, but it wont charge nor boot, I tried to put my phone into RSD Mode so that I can flash my stock rom again, however it says "Battery Low Cannot Programm" and turns back off. I cannot put it into Recovery Mode by holding x and the power button.
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME? I CANT USE MY PHONE?

Ok, to be honest, this was stupid. Your first step is now get battery charged.
You have following options:
charge it in alive Milestone 2
charge it in some universal battery charger
charge it via wires (yes, it sounds risky and definitely it is not too good for battery life, but someone here successfully done it) - manual attach wires with coresponding voltage and give it few minutes - only to hold charge few minutes for RSDLite... Or you can maybe bypass battery and put wires directly on phone - but this is really risky and I dont recommend it.
Of course - best option is #1 or #2... But you can't do anything without charged battery...

it doesnt work when the battry is charged charged, thats why i waited till the battery to die untill i start over again. I have looked online and dont think this is really a battery problem~

Look at here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19197228 - I think it's the same situation. You have to charge the battery to use RSDLite.
tl;dr Low battery = "Battery Low Cannot Program", charged battery = "Battery OK / OK to program" in RSDLite.. so...

Yep, you can't charge your battery (in your phone) when you have bricked phone (thats why I said it wasn't good to let it die, because now you have one more problem - how to charge this battery)
And I wrote how to charge it in my post #1 - basically you have two options: universal battery charger (charger, where you put battery and it will charge it) or another (working/alive) Milestone 2...

Your lucky then! I don't know anyone with an ms2 so had to go macgiver style and charge the battery directly with wires. I swear the battery has never been the same since, although every battery/system tool claims the battery health to be "good"

If you're refering to me - I've done that already and no luck
I've tried every trick on battery calibration I've found on this site and google searches and it never shows any noticable improvement.
So now I'm just more vigilant with battery saving tricks
