It was the ear piece speaker. It just one day started crackling and popping. I had hoped it was just my imagination and bad connections, but turns out the damn thing really is blown.
Practically brand new means grubby little hands have touched my precious atrix. Maybe I'll get lucky and they will be out of refurbs (I'll just tell myself that) and I'll get a brand new one.
You got a strong battery? Lucky. I got 4 extra batteries for free and they all have crap battery life. Well not crap, just not the 24 of Heavy usage like there are said to have. But they let me keep all of them

I called AT&T and they sent me one, then they had a follow up call to see if they were working and it didn't so she sent me another one/. That didnt work so I call a different time and got a different person, and he sent one out. So now I have four total
I am going to have to try this. You can never have enough extra batteries. But didn't they ask for the other ones back?

"I have a Motorola Atrix. From what people have been saying on websites and forums like XDA. The battery is suppose to last a solid 24 hours with heavy usage. It also states this on Engadget's website. For me, it only will last 5-8 hours of heavy usage. So what can you do for me? Could just have a new battery sent to me, because I don't want to have to transfer all of my apps and saved items?"
Thats pretty close to what I just told them and they are sending me a new one now. Thanks a lot for posting this. A secondary battery will be nice to have.

What's the turn around time for Motorola's Repair Center? I'm in Canada and I'm thinking of sending mine in. I have a replacement already and a friend is lined up to buy the AT&T one (he won't be rooting and putting his phone in jeopardy like me lol).

From an AT&T phone its 611. I don't know that 800 number to call. sorry. Just dial 611 and ask them for the 800 number.

I may be going to the Evo, we'll see. Sprint offered me a different model phone finally and I'm going to go for the evo. Third hero from them and their repair/refurb people can't seem to get it right... They said I have to pay sales tax on it though, which I found amazingly strange.
I will never leave the Hero forums, though, that was what got me into Android in the first place and I really wish I could still have a hero...
How did you swing that? Im on my 4th defective hero and they told me they will not replace them anymore. That they can only do so many replacements per year. I have insurance too. Oh yeah and if you do get an evo, it will probably ship with the new patch that prevents root. No work around yet either!

And I was pissed enough to be willing to pay the ETF on this line and close my other brand new line if they didn't take care of the issue by sending me a different model phone due to the circumstances. I'e been with them for a little over 3 years now and always been good with my bills and such so they try to keep me happy, and I really do appreciate that. The guy said I could pick the phone so I checked out online and decided to go with the Evo even though I'll probably never get 4g. It's the only other phone comparable to the Hero and that is made by HTC, since I like the HTC product.
Only thing is, though, is that he said they'd be back in stock in approx 2 weeks... well... I leave for vacation on the 21st and if they're back in in exactly 2 weeks, that puts it at the 20th. Plus 2 days for shipping and I'll have a phone sitting outside my garage for 2 weeks.
Can someone who works for Sprint, like a rep I'd get a hold of if I dialed *2, let me know what the expected arrival date is for more Evo's, please? I really need to stay on top of this so I can get it if they come in earlier. I can't have that phone sitting outside for 2 weeks. I'd owe you one if you could do this for me. PM me or whatever!

I'm pretty sure that after 3 or 4 replacements, you're allowed to switch the phone out for a new model... At least that's how it was for my sisters blackberry.

There is no "eta" (sorry) they've been available twice since the first time they sold out for approximately 3 hours both times before they sold out again. I work sprint retention.

Idk what ASL means, but 1x won't matter since I can use WiFi at my house (where the airrave will be).

ASL - Account spending limit --- your bill usually shows if you are part of the program. You also get a $4.99 fee / month on your bill if your not on auto-pay and part of the ASL program.
You also need to be in an area where its avail. -- its not avail everywhere, http://sprint.com/airave click where is it avail. Put your zip in.
Also don't just ask for one. That's rude. Explain that you don't have signal in your house, your diggin your new phones but dropped calls in home are worth the ETFs to you and the high cost if you can't get your signal in your house, and then see if they will help you out.

The newest OTA was rooted yesterday, huzzah!
There is no way in hell you are going to get an evo from sprint and only pay sales tax. If you did you must be sucking someone off because they wanted to ship me another refurb hero, i told them to shove it. i talked to 6 people and spent 3hrs on the phone with them. one guy actually told me he could get me an evo but of course the dipshi* didn't note the account. i hate sprint with a passion. they told me in the end that they are giving evo's out to no one for free, if you want one you have to pay full price or wait until your upgrade and pay the difference. what a bunch of crap!
Oh well in a few months im sure i will be able to pick one up on craiglist for $150 or so.
FYI this would be my 4th replacement hero in 6 months.
I also didn't mean any offense towards the OP but im pissed right now! I even offered to pay the difference on the evo if they would push my upgrade status up.

Sprint.com is out of stock for them. Getting it replaced when they come back in stock, in about 10 days or so.
So... TODAY, I finally got my fascinate exactly how I want it.

So, what happens...
The phone is sitting on the console of my car... Minding its own business... Some guy cuts me off and it falls between the small crack between my seat and the console. So, I park... get out of the car... and start to move the seat back and i hear CRACKKKKKKK......
So, I start moving the seat forward... Somehow, get my hand under the seat and pull out my phone... Screen is completely Cracked... ARGHHHHH
I have the Bestbuy insurance, so they will replace it, but now I have to start all over again.. Rooting... Installing... blah blah blah...
Ok... I feel slightly better now...
Gonna call Bestbuy now and start the replacement process
...good luck with that, most insurance policies through retailers don't cover cracked screens...

Certified Pre-Owned. Phones that come with nothing but a Battery. Also no manufacturer warranty, as far as I know.
Check them out on Verizon's website. Mine came with battery, charger, 16gb sd card, and 1 year warranty. I have had zero issue's, and the phone looked brand new.

I actually called Verizon and added the $5/month insurance...
Their insurance offers a replacement for lost phones.. the deductible is $99 for smartphones.
I cant make a claim for 30 days.

Phone works perfect. And that is totally the plan... I just need to get the new (or CPO) phone.
Its funny... I keep thinking about the guy that cut me off... The only reason I was on that road at that time, was because I happened to go to sunglasshut and bought my wife a new pair of sunglasses... She recently broke hers and was complaining that she wanted new ones. I was gonna surprise her tonight with the new pair.

CPO phone is actually great. People might think it is bad because someone previously owned, but I bought one in January and its running smooth as my brother's Fascinate. I actually do recommend it.

Squaretrade. Warranty service is far superior to any extended warranty. Accidental drops and handling. Water damage also covered. $99 for two years coverage with $50 deductible. They will replace your broken phone with a brand new one, or give you up to $499 for a new one.

Classic I know how that goes.
No doubt a cpo will work just as well but its a shame to renew a 2 year contract for a facinate now. Yea the facinate fing rocks after flashing new kernel, rom, radio, and voodooing the filetable to ext. But is this really a good time to lock into a two year contract for a preowned facinate?
E#verytime I have my phone exactly how i want it something new comes out like a new kernel or a new something and then i end up temp bricking my phone and starting all over... I guess your worse off having to get a new phone... but on the other hand you'll have a new phone!

Sprint or Asurion? Or both? Asurion told me 14 days when I needed a replacement but actually got it to me in about 10. When I did get the phone, it was brand new and not a refurb, which made me happy and the well worth the wait.

mine all started when sprint's "techs" just replaced my launch day evo ( was in mint condition no leakage nothing) since i was having 3g speed trouble .
EVERY refurb since thene i have had to have replaced for leakage screen pulling from the housing etc etc

Pretty good deal. I love how they advertise the picture of a white i9100 for the front and the back of the real Note lol. But I've bought from them and they're legit, but my keyboard box was all beat up, the keyboard was pristine. It took them about 1-2 weeks for my keyboard order to arrive, I believe as there is so much demand for the things they sell.

I've never had an issue with 1 sale. They're like Matrix status on eBay. It's a reputable company and if I'm not mistaken they are based out of Florida.

Dude, ive been married almost 3 years now and I know the work-around for your issue. You order it and when it shows up at your door and she sees it you say: "baby, summer is almost here. I got this for you so you can relax by the pool and read a nice book, or listen to music, or even watch a movie if you'd like" The she gives you a big hug and a kiss and when she gets tired of the damn thing its all yours.
PS: replace pool with balcony/backyard if no pool is available.

Nope just no LTE but for a majority of AT&T customers it doesn't matter anyways.

Hmm, the description mentions LTE, is that for some other system or are they just wrong? I live in Indianapolis and I believe LTE has rolled out here already so I'd kinda like to have it on my next phone.

Just got my blue SGS3 today and I've noticed one area where the finish appears scratched, but UNDERNEATH the glaze. Hard to photograph with my crappy old phone, but the photo makes it look less noticeable than it really is.
Should I keep it or send it back? Anyone else got this prob?

It's not a cheap phone and it's brand new... I wouldn't be happy with that finish either and would get it replaced.

PCadvisor is reporting that the Blue version of the SIII won't be available for a few days yet.
Got mine today in Australia. Finish is perfect as far as I can tell, has none of issues shown by op. Send it back.

^^ this. For a phone that costs $700, I'd think anything that looks like it shouldn't be there warrants a replacement.

Well I've called up my service provider and they've agreed to replace it with another new one - only problem is that they aren't getting another batch in for 2 weeks new one won't arrive til 27th June...
I can still keep this one til then, but it means I have to baby it/not take it out for fear of dropping it/not root it, basically treat it as a loaner.
I'm half tempted to say f*ck it, I'll just keep it - but you're all right, this is an expensive machine, I don't want a faulty paint job! Who's to say it won't get worse as well, since it's a prob with manufacturing process.
Get a replacement and ask for bill credit for your trouble... you're going to have to re input all your apps and info... worth a shot

Already ahead of ya - they've agreed to waive the 2wks fees (£17) that I'll be without my "own" S3. I thought about going ape and demanding a whole month (£34), but took pity on the girl in the call centre in India.
Plus it's not really Three's fault, it's Samsung's fault. Three haven't been too bad to me so far, so I won't be an a**hole difficult customer to them until it's warranted

You're half right it's not their fault but you didn't buy it from Samsung, you bought it from them. They have to stand by their products. And if she offered two weeks best believe she can do better

I'd recommend that you tell them your situation that you'll keep it till the new stock arrives and they ship it to you. I remember having a similar issue with my Motorola razor v9 flip phone (att USA). They sent me a new razor and asked me to return the defective phone once I've received the new one. This should work for them.

keep it and fanny about with it to your hearts content till they replace it. just remember and revert it to stock and triangle away before you post it back to them.

True, but do you honestly think they are going to open every box and inspect for bad craftsmanship? If they were part of the assembly process then sure, but they merely order en mass and then either drop ship to their customers or reship from their warehouse.
I think the OP is doing the right and ethical thing by not blowing this out of proportion. To many people these days try and milk every little "mistake" that cross their path. But to each their own, the important thing is that he is getting a replacement with no down time and a few bucks for his troubles.

Think it has something to do with Apple, whether they want to admit it or not. Had a black version been available, I'd have gotten that one, but I've settled with the white version for now(was going for the blue version, but after seeing it in person I'm glad I went with white when the former was delayed).
It'll probably not be that long lived if the Note 2 gets released in October.
