Pull battery...put the battery back in... hold the volume down, the camera button, and the power button all at the same time until u see black with blue writing. Use volume rocker to go down to wipe data then press the home tab. Confirm and ur phone will be wiped resulting in by passing the lock code. Another way....... figure out the lock code.

If you incorrectly enter the pattern 5 times or so, a button "Forgot Pattern?" should appear and you can unlock your phone with your Google account information.

just keep in mind everything will be erased from your phone. I'd figure your passwords out, man. It will save you a major headache.

turn the phone off, when off, hold volume-up, home button and power button...a menu should pop up, navigate using volume buttons to factory reset and select using the home button (I think)

Why don't you call your seller and ask for the code...
Looks like "hot" SGS to me :|
You would be lucky if he enabled "USB Debugging" on his phone. Flash the phone and your phone would be brand new. This is theoretical though. Never faced any problems like this.
Doesn't seem like you bought the phone eh mate? If he has Tracker Apps, you would be screwed my friend.
Just do the factory reset, it will work.

Broken volume up button?

So the other day my phone turned off and my phone started doing the 3 vibrates and blinking orange LED thing. It finally turned on earlier today, so I was wondering if there was a way to fix the volume up button so I don't have to worry about my phone getting turned off.
Is there a way to fix it? Or remap the button to a different button? Or even just disable the button in general? Or even just plain break the button. Anything as long as the phone doesn't think its being pressed lol
Edit: does anyone know if the app buttonmapper would fix this? I don't wanna try this and have it not work and get stuck with the flashing LED again
Thanks!

No problem, you could try using a jewlers screwdriver set and prying up the volume up key. And its a rookie mistake just don't do it again

Haha I did that, and it wasn't working before, but I just tried to boot into recovery via the option on CM7 menu, and it booted into CWM just fine. Then I hit reboot system now, and it did that just fine. Does it boot differently when I have it boot directly into recovery? And does it boot differently when I hit reboot system now through CWM?
I know it changes the bootmode (or at least it does on the Kindle Fire), but I didn't think it made that much of a difference. Oh well. I guess I won't question it too much as long as it works.
So, when I turn the phone on using Volume Up+Power, that boots me into hboot, right?

So then Volume Up + Power boots me into recovery? Or does it not do anything?
Vol up and power boots you into some other mode, I don't remember what it's called.
I believe it's the original recovery, cause when i bricked my phone several months ago (i got impatient and decided to just flash the original stock img file (i thought it was as easy as idevices) without having the engineering hboot. Anyways I think it took me to the stock recovery mode

Oh. Alright. Do you know if there's anyway to change that? So that I can make the volume up button and power do nothing, and make it like camera button and power?

have you tried force rebooting your phone? long press the power button for about 10-15 seconds. after it powers off and reboots, check to see if that spot is working again.

force reboot your phone again, if you press down volume down, and hold it down as its rebooting, itll boot into the bootloader. you can get into recovery or power off your phone there. there are also free apps that will power off/reboot/reboot recovery/reboot bootloader.

phone water damage

so my brother dropped his phone is water, we did the rice trick. about 5 days later we went to see it and it turned on. but it wont get pass the Samsung
Galaxy S4.
so i used odin to try and like restore the original os.
everything worked fine but the same thing happen.
i tried going into recovery mode but it wont load recovery .
now i'm just letting it sit there on the Samsung screen maybe its gonna take a while to start up idk.
So my question is what can i do to fix this. maybe you guys know something that can to make get passed this screen. or at least go into recovery because i think its not loading because i couldn't wipe the data and cache eta..... i think that why it wont boot up.
or maybe the phone is just messed up forever.

By Taking out the battery putting it back in and then holding the volume up button and the power button. It goes to the samsung galaxy s4 screen to say that the right booting recovery but then it just stays there doesn't do anything.

Your suppose to hold volume up and power button and home button at the same time. When the small blue writing appears in the upper left corner let go of the power button only. Then when it enters recovery let the other two go.
Try that method.

If you dont mind waiting instead of taking it apart place phone in rice for about 24 to 48 hours. Rice sucks moisture out of the phone. If thst dont help then you can consider taking apart.

Bypass Activation

Looked around and found this to work,
On the Choose Language Screen: Vol +, Vol -, Back, Menu, Home

Interesting, thank you for this.
If the phone has already been activated once, does one need to re-activate it if there is a factory reset/data wipe?
