ROM that works with HID keyboard? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hey everybody,
Just a quick question. Any SD builds out there that support a bluetooth HID keyboard? I tried three so far and they aren't even pairing. This is my killer app and it's a bit of a downer....

I believe cm7 had it

That's what I thought too...but it's not pairing even though the same keyboards work on my other devices. The folks following the AmeriCanAndroid ROM says it's a known issue but not much discussion has occurred that I can find.
I'll see if I can borrow some "brand-name" keyboards like the Apple Wireless or something...

Soundds good

Txbytes or rom bug?

I have not really done too much troubleshooting on this but I noticed apps like Network Counter and TrafficInfo show keyboards like swype and 1 or 2 others as xmitting traffic out. Thougt someone more familiar with how droid reads net data might know why. I dont think either net app is malfunctioning nor the keyboard apps so it might simply be a bug.
Only tested on a gtab btw.

I guess I should have titled this "is swype swyping your data?" Lol

XDA App FC's [Wifi Xoom]

Like the title says XDA app force closes when trying to create a new post every time. It also force closes when I try to hit the back button to exit. When I go back into the app it loses my login settings.
Have tried a factory restore and uninstalling/reinstalling the app. No luck. Seen a few more force closes in other apps too. Should I exchange this thing or what?
Its not the zoom fool. Same thing.happens on my epic. Im constantly deleting and reinstalling xda app. Somethings horridly wrong with it lol

I assumed it worked somewhat. Since people are posting for the app with their Xoom. I will give it a few days and see.

Looks like original tapatalk works for those that are having the same problem.

I had the same exact problem with the xda premium app on the xoom; also i sometimes got FC problems on my galaxy tab with the same app but most of the time it worked normally on the tab. Now it consistently FC on the same doing the same actions as in your situation.
It has the same problem on the Gtablet. You know though, if you have 10 inches of viewing space just make a bookmark in your browser and put a link on your desktop.

Bookmarks are great and all but xda's site is slow in the browser.

Same problem on my Nexus One, Nexus S, and my xoom.

Lol... the app designed for one of the largest android communities on the planet is freakin broken? I would chalk that up as extremely embarrassing.
Use Tap Talk Pro, it is basically the same thing. And works for many other forums too.
No problem on my nexus S ....
Is there any plan for Honeycomb optimized XDA App?
With thread list in the left and content in the right.
That would be awesome

XDA (non premium) app FC's on my new Wifi Xoom. But it works fine on my Dinc, fwiw. Hopefully someone in XDA Developers can find a solution. I also don't understand why the XDA web site is so slow on the Xoom browser. Much slower to load than every other website that I regularly visit. Don't see this on my Win7 PC using Chrome.

I agree and has been the case since I got my Xoom (slow in browser and slow to type).
Same problems with my MZ604 as well. I can reproduce a crash every time by logging in, click a forum, then click an individual post, kaboom. Even if I click into a few different forums first, once I hit a post, FC.
I've been able to view posts before, but once I clicked on a post with an attachment it no longer worked until a reinstall.
I also get this weird problem with xda app on the xoom where the op kind of blurs and slows everything down when scrolling, even if its quoted. I've been using tapatalk on the xoom instead

lets just hope they are working on a tablet version. #Team Xoom and EVO

A500 can't find Bluetooth headphones

Just bought a Motorola S10-HD Bluetooth headset but my Acer a500 can't find it. Anyone else having problems with Bluetooth? Know a fix?

Can you take them back?
Contrary to popular belief, some bluetooth devices are not compatible with some Android products. Just like with Windows.
Are you rooted? Custom Rom?
Unfortunately I tossed the packaging, so returning is not an option. It works fine with my LG Revo so I'm fine with keeping it. Just a little bummed that it won't work with my a500. I'm rooted running kjy's honeylicious icy faux rom. I doubt its the rom, likely incompatability issues like you said. Thanks for the reply.

Not sure why they don't work for you. I have the same pair and they work fine.

Finally got it to see, pair and connect! I didn't realize I had to make the a500 discoverable for it to find the headset. Can anyone say brainfart.

Have you looked at droid vnc (don't know if there is something else similar). I thought I saw another app that would also work, but haven't tried anything yet.
I did. I couldn't get DroidVNC to run on the tablet without crashing.

Ugh, sorry, I was planning to try it out myself but hadn't had a chance yet. There is another thread on androidforums about this also with some possible usable apps:
http://androidforums.com/android-applications/8858-remote-control-my-phone.html
You dan do it wit WiFiKeyboard that is in the market
Just tried that wifikeyboard and seems to work well for me. hopefully it is what the OP was looking for too
I use it to get cheats in gta 3 ;p
There is this... haven't tried it.. http://www.androidtablets.net/forum...blet-android-phone-your-pc-other-android.html
And other than that I have a Microsoft keyboard that has a little 2.4 ghz dongle and it works great. Mouse works too. If you really want the keyboard-tablet experience. Lags in not-native roms.. perfect in gmail, talk and a few others.. My two cents.
And of course there's always the transformer..

[HOWTO] Use your Epic as Mouse/Keyboard for other Android devices

So, as far as I know, this should be able to control PC's too, and maybe PS3's. But, I've only tried this on other Android devices. Should control anything on CM7.X, or anything on any form of Android 3.0, 4.0, and 4.1.
Prerequisites(Epic 4G specific):
Has to be on an AOSP based ROM(CM, AOKP, Paranoid, etc)
Step 1.) Enable Bluetooth on your Epic 4G and other Android device.
Step 2.) Pair the devices together
Step 3.) Now, install "BluePutDroid" on your Epic from the Play Store.
Step 4.) Open BluePutDroid, hit the Start key on the top left
Step 5.) Swipe up the "Log" bar to make sure there were no errors. If there were, try step 4 again.
Step 6.) Tap the device you want to connect to(your other Android device)
Step 7.) When it finishes loading, the screen should be green. Swipe on this to move the mouse on the other android device. Tap once to click on the other device, and hold down till the screen turns red to do things like scrolling, drag and drop, etc.
If the S/W keyboard shows up, hit menu "Toggle Soft Keyboard" to hide it. If it keeps enabling itself, install "Null Keyboard" from the Play Store and set that as your input method while using BluePutDroid. Also, the H/W keyboard works great. So you can use that to type, or navigate with the Dpad
This app works on other devices as well, but I can't go into great detail on ROM compatibility and such.
If your device has CM7/9/10 or any AOSP based ROM, this will work.
This will work on the (rooted) stock ROM of some devices, such as Nexus S(all forms), Galaxy Nexus(all forms), and Galaxy S3 (all forms)
On other's it will not work on the stock ROM, regardless of root, such as Galaxy S(entire first series), and many older HTC devices(not sure of newer ones).
According to the app developer, this is kernel related and nothing he can do; if it works, it works. if it doesn't, get.cm
Thanks! I'll look into this.

I can confirm that this works with windows and linux - I've been using this app for nearly a year, and it works well
But I didn't know it worked with other CM devices - that's an awesome find

Would this work if the other device doesn't have bluetooth?
Amazing stuff though, I wish my netbook had bluetooth that would have made it even more amazing lol.

Lol. There is an app called WiFi Keyboard that'll let you type using your Epic, but its not near as awesome as this. And all text gets sent through in Caps lock

There's apps for PCs similar to this. Like RemoteDroid and gPad. I'd prefer gPad because it has many other uses, like controlling windows media player, microsoft powerpoint, and using it as a mouse/keyboard obviously. But again, it's over WiFi. Bluetooth is beta AFAIK.

This app has been around for at least a year - the benefit of bluetooth is faster response times than over wifi. I think that's partly the result of the direct connection, and partly because the wifi methods involve a computer-side server (often using vnc, which uses some processing time to send a live stream of the screen, even if the connected client app doesn't need it, such as with a remote kb/mouse app)

I can also vouch for this on the ps3. Donate, help him out and no ads.
My wife was giving me **** "you are so techy, why can't you ruin the ps3 with your phone". So i googled and XDAed until i found this app.

I love to log on while the wife is using the computer. Move the mouse as shes trying. Priceless. I use advance touchpad. Its via wifi but very responsive, and it gives me all the keys. I have to be able to windows key + p to switch to my TV.
