it could be, there isn't any other update that i know of needed. if they give a ****ty 2.1 update alot of people will be pissed.

we will have to wait and see. there is no reason to not give us 2.2. if they don't i still think they dropped the ball with this phone. guess it doesn't matter, ill be upgrading next month anyways. just thought id share this in case it does mean something.

If they really are only releasing an updated 2.1 then they really are major a-holes.

i agree, we do not need a 2.1 update when almost every other phone gets 2.2. who knows maybe they will surprise us with froyo.

Yeah, I'm hearing the Droid would be able to run it, but with minimum requirements. I also heard about dual core Android phones. Who knows what Android has in store for us..

I would too, I'd love to have Froyo and Sense, and official drivers should make for more stable cooking bases too
Htc Desire got the 2.2 Froyo sense update...a dev can port it to cdma...

Not true. We would need a Legend/Aria/MT3G Slide 2.2 ROM to port it over. IIRC, the Desire has an ARMv7 processor while the Hero has an ARMv6 processor

Hi everyone. Yesterday I traded my Epic for an Evo (for my own personal reasons - regardless of how FUBAR they may be to you). I love the Evo and everything is going well... UNTIL the guy I traded makes me aware of a small little problem: Sprint says I can't activate the phone with a custom ROM on it.
I guess I must have forgot to tell him to not let Sprint in on the phone cracking, but too late. Now he is saying he needs me to help him put the phone back to stock. It currently has Quantum ROM 1.3 on it and clockwork mod and all that stuff.
Do any of you believe that the phone won't activate with this ROM? If so, do you have any recommendations of how to get this guy up and running - remotely? He lives 40 miles from me and it was a hassle for us to meet up yesterday.
Flash the modem stickied at the top of the Dev page using ODIN and you're golden. Why don't you just call sprint and activate the phone. You don't have to bring the phone into a store.
We did call Sprint and they put it in the system and everything and said it was done. However, the phone never activated
BTW, I am at that page and looking for the stock ROM. I see a couple of 2.1 ROM's, but neither of them seem to be the stock official 2.1
The stock tar is stickied at the top of the development thread, just follow the directions.

I took a chance at the method at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786266 and it worked perfectly. His new Epic works great and is back to Android 2.1.

But realistically if your gonna make those kind of statements at least claim why you feel that way >.>
Last time I checked my evo was slow as piss and everything lagged, including the Notification area, App Drawer and the whole 9 yards. On top of that it liked to eat battery like a starving child. Htc needs to learn how to make graphics drivers. XV6800, Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2. The cycle never ends, well besides the G2 of course.

The Desire is like the biggest HTC android phone ever, mainly because it's outside of the USA, too.
Is that only people who allow statistics to be sent back? If so the numbers could be short.

I have been using Ultimate Droid rom, and it's so much better than CM7. It's way more stable, and offers more customization.
I wish it had the following Cyanogen does, because it would be nice to have some other Evo users to help support and exchange ideas.

Have you tried CM7 final? I haven't tested UD so can't compare, but CM7 has made me a believer and I'm definitely off the Sense wagon. Anyways, I noticed that UD incorporates wimax source from teamwin/cm so that's gotta say something for CM.

I have several ?s about my evolution. First, I backed up my Sprint Sence but decided to install Rom Manager. When I checked my backups, my HTC backup was gone
Or is it? If I need to reload sense, what do I do? Second, I loaded the latest Gingerbread Tom which works very well except for a couple of things. The HDMI does not work and the music player doesn't play my music like HTC Sence and Cyanogen Mod 7 did. I showed it the correct folders, but I guess it is probably in the wrong format. What do you suggset. THANKS!

1) Flash a Sense rom the way you flashed the others if you want Sense. If you can backup/restore manually, don't use ROM Manager.
2) I'm sorry your HDMI doesn't work. I'll bet if you read in the thread where you got the rom, it'll tell you that it doesn't work. Solution: Flash a HDMI capable rom.
3) You can either use the music player from CM7 or download another one from the market. There's about 952 of them. I doubt that the file format changed when you switched roms, but that may be a bug with the the Evo 4H.

I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
I love the My touch 4G to death, but my wife doesn't seem to like it much. So, I'm need to find something to replace hers. Her's is being used unlocked on AT&t. So, does anyone have any suggestions? On eBay I can sell it for $200-240 so, i'd like to sell it and buy a replacement. It needs to be GSM (AT&T or T-Mobile phones are fine), in my price range and have similar specs. I have really can't think of anything. She hates it so bad she's using her old Samsung Magnet until I find her something :/ lol

For the text message signature she could try using Go SMS Pro in the market.
The only gsm android phone I can think of with a keyboard is the G2. I've used it in the past though and found it to be slightly slower than the MyTouch due to the smaller ram and lower processor speed. I agree that she should stick with the MyTouch.

The Virtuous Unity ROM do have signature option as stated by saranhai.
So no need to change the phone, just change the ROM.
Just go for VU 2.37

HONEY HD THEME IS BOSS. along with VU of course
If anything don't get the g2 I had it. It's slow as hell outside the stock Rom. Has a good build quality to it though.

if she wants to have a physical keyboard then your gonna have to switch phones, id say go for the mytouch 4g slide just cuz it would be a more familiar platform and cuz the g2 would be a downgrade in hardware
Hard to imagine not liking the phone over those two reasons. Swype is so much better and faster than conventional texting. And as for the signature, I'm not rooted and I use GO SMS. As already mentioned, it has the option to add a signature. Plus it's much better than the stock text. JMO. Each to their own I guess.
After a solid year with my MT4G (which I am still in love with...) I just bought the GSII
Have to say so far, this phone's bad ass.
