Only GB (CM7) MAGLDR (Boot AD SD) will not start - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

[Q] SD Card and NAND MAGLDR

Hi Guys I have a few questions.
I have flashed Magloader and one of the features is to boot ROMS from SD.
Well I can't boot any ROMS they all hang on the loading animation towards the end.
Originally I was not aware of the Panasonic formatter so I just did full format in W7 to FAT32 which has worked flawless in WM65.
So I then formated the card with the panasonic formatter but did not tick erase so just full format but it did take about 2 hours.
Then copied my data back accross.
RE tested and still the same issue.
All ROMS boot fine with WM65 but since I copied data back 1 ROM will now not boot with WM65 either.
I have a 32GB Card not sure of class I paid £55 for it so guessing its high up there ?
The card is not partitioned at all so full 32gb.
Any suggestions ?
If not I am thinking of going back to WM65 because I got like 4 - 7 drian on that which is acceptable for me and more space for apps.
You cant boot standrd SD card builds with magldr yet. You can only boot SD cards builds that are designed for magldr. The only current ones are designed for haret.exe on windows.
There is work going on to make magldr support startup.txt so in future it will also boot the standrd ones.
Thanks for clearing that up for me !!!!
So guess problem sloved !

HELP SD Android won´t 1st boot

Flashed some day´s ago WP7 but I reverted to WINMO again... and when I try to put an Android Built on it won´t boot...
I get a cmd lines, kernel something and it get the HTC screen and it get stuck in it... Tryied lot´s of diferent sd builds but the result is the same.
I already formated my sd, tried in other WINMO rom´s and other sd and the result is the same!
I have HSPL 1.66
I have the last radio
I have the same as always and previously the the Android worked fine...
Strange!!!
HELP
Please
You said you formatted your SD card, but did you repartition it? When WP7 is installed it consumes all but 200 MB of your SD card so if you try to reformat it, you will only have 200 MB free unless you repartition it.
Did you say you tried other SD cards? Also, are you running Android from the SD card via Haret from Windows Mobile? Or, are you running a NAND Android ROM?

1- Sure i repartitioned it at full size... wipe de partition, and format a new primary partition in fat32.
2- Android SD via Haret.
Thanks
Do you have Android SDK installed, so that you can run logcat and see what's happening?

Nope, don´t know how
Dont think it´s a problem with the Android SD builds, I tryed some diferent and the problem keeps there...
The problem must be with WP7, but now all is the same as before but Android don´t boot and I need Android but don´t want to but NAND on it right away because I like WINMO still...
Please help, I´m not the only one with this problem...
I get a cmd, black screen and some text, the last is...
"jumping to kernel (custom)"
And them it crashes on the green HTC BOOT SCREEN.

Try Task 29 via bootloader, flash stock HTC ROM, Reformat SD card on PC and then again on WinMo. Transfer files while in WinMo on SD card or via SDcard adapter, and try booting Android again.
Did you by any chance transfer files on SD card while in Magldr if so the files may be corrupted (known issue) which may explain the problem with kernel not booting up.
Hope this helps.
Sorry for hijacking but nobody will reply in my thread and I'm becoming impatient lol. Can anybody help me?
Hey guys. I'm currently running this ROM, I've been using it for a few days and have had no problems but today, when I turned the phone off and turned it back on, it took ages to turn back on. Then when it did it all looked them same but was kept freezing etc., then up in the notification bar it said "SD Card Removed Unexpectedly" then my phone went crazy with FC's.
So I took out the battery and restarted the phone. Then, it would turn on and go to the lock screen but then it would reboot and be at a continuius* boot loop of the HTC 'Quietly Brilliant' screen.
So then I took out the battery again, this time I took out the SD card too and booted up and my phone was normal again. Obviously with no phone storage though as there was SD card in. Then after I just skipped the setup I put my SD card back in to my phone and went to the music player and all my saved songs on my SD card played. But no internal storage (I have the SD card partitioned with a 1GB Ext3 partition). Then with the SD card in knowing it still works I rebooted again, only to come back to the HTC screen again.
So basically, how can I fix this?
If I'm going to need to format my SD card is there a way I can backup what's in the Ext3 partition?
Thanks,
L.

lrbpereira - I'm the guy that posted having the same results as you in your other thread (this one seems to be getting all the action, though). Just curious, which ROM are you trying? I've been trying Warrenbread's, but I'm thinking about trying another just to give it a shot.

Hi, i´m on Dutty´s 14 PTG. I tryed Energy and the result was the same...
I think it´s someting that WP7 installed on the phone memory... Don´t know why task29 don´t resolve it... But I can´t put the Android SD working...
And it´s seams that this is a problem that isn´t only mine... you - koz - have it too...

Sorry, I should have been a bit more clear - I was curious what Android ROM you were trying to run from SD. Have you found a solution to this yet? Did you try flashing back to a stock ROM, then HSPL & then try an android rom from SD? I'm considering giving this a shot, but I haven't had the time lately.
EDIT: I resolved my issue by reformatting the SD again (I've done it multiple times & multiple ways). This way worked for me. First, back up everything you want to keep from your SD card onto your PC. Download this & install on your PC: http://download.cnet.com/Partition-...62200.html?part=dl-6285158&subj=dl&tag=button . With SD card in the phone, connect to the PC in USB mass storage mode. Start Partion Wizard and format the card to FAT32 at 32kb and as a primary drive. After that, drag-n-drop your flavor of Android onto your SD and boot it up. Hope it works for you.
EDIT 2: After getting android running, I reinstalled all my files/folders back onto the SD card, however, this broke android again (I couldn't get it to boot from SD). So I tried turning it into airplane mode while running windows mobile - and it worked. I can now boot to android from SD as long as I first turn on airplane mode. So, I don't know if the above reformatting was part of it. If someone gives this a try, it might be good to turn on airplane mode and try to boot before attempting the above formatting info. Please post results if you try it and I'll try to edit the above.

[Q] Problems in ICS Beta 7 build 14 (SD) and Wind 7.5 Mango (Nand) dual boot

Hello Great minds here,
Device HTC HD 2 / 16 GB (Transcend SD Class4) with two partitions 7.4 for Win and balance loaded with ICS at root.
I installed windows 7.5 SP 1 Mango (Yuki) working great - Tons and loads of thanks to Yuki (team).
I installed ICS Beta 7 Build 14 working great with almost all features looked in so far. thanks and applaud to Ankuch. Many thanks for such work. Installed as per the tutorials for dual boot. However, I face the following issues:
1. In settings option of ICS total internal storage reported only .96 GB. On using ES Explorer error reported no SD card mounted. SD card formatted with , FAT 32 as primary partition , unused 6.17 GB. For win it is logical partition.
2. At no point of time did I run Haret.exe or ClrCad.
3. Reports no USB storage, this is as advised by ROM Chef.
4. Is there any application which gives an option to boot into ICS or WIN as startup. Tried exceller Boot loader but the thread notified that it is for adndroid / ubuntu, so did not load. Pls advise if there is any application.
5. If I boot into win 7.5 and then switch off to boot into ICS, the booting fails. Reason I noticed that win 7.5 locks the SD. Then reboot into win 7.5, unlock the SD and then boot into ICS thru Magldr. Kindly advise whether this is correct or I have done some installation error.
Thank you in advance for the amazing knowledge and ideas you people.
Thanks a ton.

1.Is the partition set to primary??
4.u r using maglrd right?? Not sure about that but after unlocking SD u can choose from maglrd menu
5. Yup that's correct
Sent from my HTC HD2 using xda premium
Yes the partition is set to Primary for FAT 32 and for windows it is logical.
could there be an issue that since ICS is loaded on the SD, Sd is not recognised. On starting file explorer it reports SD not mounted.
Got boot loader called excellor boot loader but is for windows 6.5. Unable to locate one for windows 7.5
Yes can boot in from Magdlr.
Thank you for the support.

can u make sure that you did it correctly by following this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-cUdB4_5f4
Saw the video today. No I don't think I did everything correct.
Trying to re do everything once again and then get back to you.
Thanks.
Ok now the first problem crops up. I haveof one partition flashed SP1 of Windows 7.5 (Yuki Rom). Then reset the phone as shown in the video, however, when I check the memory card in the manner suggested in the EASEAUS Partition Manager the SD reads only 14.73 GB of only one partition there is no 200 MB FAT 16 partition. Tried doing resetting many times but the same prob.
Re installed everything but the problem remains the same. On starting ES File Explorer " SD crd not mounted or not present".....Kindly HELP
Hi,
I have an identical setup as you and coincidentally had the same problem as you.
I referred to this video tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944288 and am now happily running Tango (Yup!!) on NAND and different versions of Android on SD.
Try it out and let me know if it works for you.

[HOW TO]Format SD even when Windows cant reconize it

Hi guys,
today i had bad day. Cotulla released the new HD2 Ultrafruit Rom and i wanted to try it out.
So i followed the flashing steps which worked for me and mostly everone in this forum. Like:
-1st it's recommended to flash an old rom wm 6.5 and let it boot entirely
-Format your SD card too
-Flash magldr 1.13
-Enable 24MB extra memory in Magldr services
-Delete MBR of SDcard in Magldr services
-Flash the rom with DWI & Set a correct time & date.
But somehow my new Transcend SD wont get formated via 6.5 ROM and clearing MBR hasnt made a change to this. I tried serveral times with different approaches and no success.
Another problem was, that when i inserted my 2 old SDs, no matter which one, in my HD2 i could boot just one time. After a reboot, the touchscreen didnt response.
Conclusion for me on this Friday 13. : No phone for me.
But finally i've found a way:
I flashed Yuki and Xboxmods Rom which is able to hande cabs WITHOUT a SD inside. So i had some MB left on my phone memory which allowed me to install DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab from Xboxmod.
But as we know just inserting a SD wont let the phone recognize the card. This works just with a reflash or a hardreset from the Info screen of WP7.
I did a hardreset and after that the DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab was still installed and my SD was recognized. So i could execute the storage lock app on the phone and unlock my SD.
After that my Windows 7 PC could see the card when i went to MAGLDR and its Mass Storage Mode. Then i formated the SD with the Panasonic SD Formatter with Options/Format Type = FULL (ERASE) and FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT on.
->Voila i had my 16GB cards back to life.
The absence of a SD Card Reader wasnt helpful too.
Hope this little How to helps others too.
haha, exactly what happened to me I tried many things, but nothing worked. And then I thought "Okay, lets move to the Q&A Forum and look for answers" .. and your topic was the first one great.
worked perfectly.
Sory about your bad experiance!
We dont need a hole srory to explane how this is done if thats why your reading this! it go's like this...
1.Flash magldr 1.13 (or) if your alredy have it services/clear sdmem
2.Enable 24MB extra memory
3.flash xbmod yukixda 7004
4.install DEV_STORAGELOCK.cab
5 use the app & unlock your card then take it out untill your newly flashed rom boots up then put it back in!
I know he just sayed that but I figure i take out the unusefull parts! make it simple!
I know this is a frustrating experiance to have but never the less hears your fix!

[Q] HD2 with Windows Phone 7.8 can't do 4EXT recovery

Sorry to be such a late bird, but I'd like to have WP7.8 + NativeSD Android 4.x dual boot on my HD2.
So I did install MAGLDR 1.13 and flashed Dynamics_HD2O_HD2_2_21_Western, which works like a charm.
After that I followed the instructions of http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1880905, but this is where my issue is.
I have set up my SD card as outlined and put the 4EXT recovery (tried all three flavours) on the FAT32 partition along with EvoHd2v10final-fixedx.zip.
Then selected the recovery folder as AD Boot Dir in MAGLDR and tried to boot AD on SD.
After that I get 123456 GO GO GO but after a while first the green htc screen appears, stays for a while and then the phone reboots into MAGLDR.
What can I do to do a NativeSD setup?
Do I have to do a MAGLDR Repartition or a MAGLDR Update Recovery with HD2 Toolkit 4.3? With what parameters?
I have tried several Task28, Repartition parameters, ...
I tried with and without "Use Last 24MB" - some say it's required, some say it may cause bricking ...
I'm a bit lost. Please help!
Thanks
ScruffR
BTW: Would there be a way to copy the SD-ROM to the EXT4 partition manually (e.g. on a Linux box)?
Well ...

Dear friend ... why don't you try this guid :
First Let Me Tell You To Make A Copy Of All You Have On Your SD Card ... The Things Required Are :
1- HD2---------------------------------------------------------------------------->One
2- 2GB SD ( Optional But Its Better To Have One ... )--------->One
3-8 GB SD --------------------------------------------------------------------->One
4- WPH ROM ---------------------------------------------------------------->One
5- Native SD ROM ---------------------------------------------------------> As Much As Needed
Alright First You Need To Install Magldr 1.13 On Leo
then Put The 2 GB SD ON The Phone And Flash The WPH ROM ( You First Have To Go TO This Address On Magldr Services>Use Last 24 NAND And Enable It Then Flash The ROM)
Step Two -
When The WPH Rom Booted Shut Down The Phone And Take The SD Out And Use A " Mini Tool Partition Wizard " ( in PC ) To Copy The Big Partition To The 8GB SD ( First Format Then Delete The Fat32 Partition And Copy The Big Partition Of 2 GB SD To The 8GB SD But Don't Forget To Drag The Partition To The Right Part Of SD Diagram To Make The Partitions Show The Left ; Unformatted And The Right : The Coppied Partition
Now Right Click On The Unformatted ( Left ) Partition And Choose Create Then Creat A 64MB 4EXT To The Right ANd Then Creat A 2 GB To The Right Too Now Format The Remaining Part With FAT32 ... Now Your Partition Diagram ( The Diagram Showing The 8GB SD Should Be Like This:
/ Fat32 / EXT4 (2GB) / EXT4(64 MB) / Unformatted (The Copied Partition) /
Now It's Almost Done ... First Apply The Changes ( May Take Half An Hour ) Then Put The 8GB SD Into HD2 And Check If The WPH Still Works On Not ( It Should Work But IF Not Then You may Had Made A Mistake ) ... Alright Now Power Off And Take SD Out And Make A Folder In The SD Named "ICS" And Put All The Items Included in This File In It ... Now Put The SD On The HD2 And Go to This Address Service > BootSetting >AD SD Dir
And There Find ICS And Then Go TO The Main Menu And Choose Boot AD SD Now The SD Recovery Boots And You Can Flash Any Native SD Roms On It ( Or Boot SD ROMs On It ) ... Then You Have To Connect The Phone On The USB To The Computer And Do This Rename :
"ICS" -------------> "ICS4X"
"NativeSD" -----> "ICS"
Now You Can Get The Android Boot Easily Without Getting To The Magldr Menu ( I Mean Just Rename The Roms Folder TO "ICS" And Reboot Then Choose Boot Ad SD On Magldr To Get It Boot - You Also Can Do This Rename On Android's File Manager )
That's It ... Easy And Delicious As A Piece Of Cake ...
The Combination I Recommend Is BOXMAX S3.5 And ChauTien CM 11 ( They Are The Bests Of The Rest )
Wish you Bests
With Best Wishes

Obviously the 4EXT Recovery versions I tried were faulty. All three of them didn't work with my setup, but just to save some hassle, I tried your 4EXT Recovery_1.rar on my pre-partitioned SD before going through with the whole procedure you pointed out - and it worked immediately.
Thanks
