I remember hearing about this prl update about a month ago but can't get it.
Its weird my brothers epic has 60676.
My Evo and moms epic have 60677.
Hmm
got that about a month ago in Philly
Thanks, anyone notice anything new from it?
Original thread regarding 01115 from about a month ago. Over 400 replys. You can get more info from that thread.

PRLs don't throttle. PRLs tell the phones in which markets they are to roam over to other services when home service isn't available, and what bands to use for home and roaming services. THAT IS IT THAT IS ALL.
PRLs do not set speeds, increase speeds, decrease speeds. If you think you get better speed because you updated your PRL, you are going to be wrong 99.9% of the time. If you think you get worse speed because you updated your PRL, you are going to be wrong 99.9% of the time.
Plain and simple.
I figured I should chime in here. I was on the 78 PRL, until I got my Airave. As soon as it was added to my account, I updated both my EVO, and fiancee's Hero. Both updated to 01115. Not sure if it's related, but could quite possibly be. Dunno

I sit here and literally shake my head when I see people post about data speeds, etc after a PRL update.....
Hello,
I don't get into the custom ROMS, I rooted so that I could perform titanium backups back in January with unrevoked 3.
At that time I had
PRI = 1.77_003
PRL 60671
I have not had any issues with the evo, nor have I performed any updates.
I was curious as to how many versions have went by so I looked at Settings > About Phone > Software Information and the
PRI = 1.77_003
**** PRL = 01115 ****
I thought that updating a prl would unroot a phone.
I didnt think that the prl was an automagic update?
Did I miss a setting?
Has anyone else had this happen.?
I dont notice anything different on the evo...
comments?
Thanks for your time

From what I have read, not all users will receive the 01115 PRL . . . depends on individual acct "type" . . . my understanding is that people that have "corporate related" accounts, ie, employees of GM, etc, that receive discounts thru their employer affiliation, get PRL 01115 . . . others get PRL 60678 for an update . . . supposedly a difference in towers being provided thru the two PRLs because of recent reduced national coverage . . . guess Sprint is maybe taking care of the "big boys" first??

You are wrong!! I am a simple employ with 4 lines in my account for 7 years and I have the 01115 in all my phones, so that is not the reason.
My wife's evo has that new prl. I'm still on the older one. Is it worth going back to sense to update or not worth it?

With the 01115 I have 3G when I am roaming and that is big plus! I use roam most of the times bc Sprint 3G in my town is way too slow slow slow.

Just did a quick *228 cos I saw someone in the Eris Section saying they got it.
Well what do ya know. it went from 518.. something to 52011. Upstate New York. No idea what PRL Version is or what this means. I think it has to do with the romeing towers or something?

Tried this, went from -86 to -92. Fewer bars too, although those don't really mean anything for this or otherwise. I switched back to 65144, db's went back up. Who knew?
In your case it looks like Verizon removed access to some towers that were near you that gave you better signal strength.
Verizon/Alltel Hybrid PRLs may stop working soon
*228 got me 52011 here too. But I originally had a Verizon/Alltel Hybrid PRL (65024) that was working absolutely great (4 bars!) until a few days ago. I live in a fringe area for Verizon. But there is an Alltel tower about 1/2 mile away. Unfortunately (for me), I just read that Verizon who in 2009 acquired Alltel, has recently unloaded Alltel, or at least a good chunk of it. The company that bought Alltel is called Atlantic Tele-Network, Inc. Or ATN. This probably explains why my Alltel Hybrid PRL no longer gives me great reception. I'm back to 0 to 1 bars now. When I did the *228/2 today I had my fingers crossed...but it didn't help. Still 0 to 1 bar, and dropping calls again...
How can I check which prl I'm running. I have been having great reception so prob won't mess with anything, but curious how to check. Thanks

As for any concern of losing root. You should never lose root doing a PRL update. Now doing a Firmware or HTC update coupld possibily knock you out of having root access. That's why a lot of rom's disable the automatic updates.
How about the HTC Software Update?

+1. please.
"The Preferred Roaming List (PRL) is a database residing in a wireless (primarily CDMA) device, such as a cellphone, that contains information used during the system selection and acquisition process. In the case of RUIM-based CDMA devices, the PRL resides on the RUIM. The PRL indicates which bands, sub bands and service provider identifiers will be scanned and in what priority order. Without a PRL, the device may not be able to roam, i.e. obtain service outside of the home area. There may be cases where missing or corrupt PRL's can lead to a customer not having service at all." - Wikipedia
In simple terms its just telling the phone which towers/network it prefers to use. I use PRL hack to use Verizon because I was receiving text messages rather late with the 60671 PRL so i have been using PRL 00001 can anyone confirm if that seems to still be an issue with 60672?

I dont think that your getting texts late is going to be common nationwide. I get mine rather quickly with 60671 and I live in southern utah. It may just be a tower issue or something in your area.
Confirmed as well even though they have been made flashable updates recently
Here is the lehman terms about the PRL's. People who are on individual accounts will be receiving PRL 60678. It will not have 3G Data Roaming enabled.
Business and corperate accounts will be receiving custom PRL 1115, which does enable 3G Data Roaming in the six states listed below.
For all the details please read the attached files. You didn't get these from me
My FAQ for You:
1. No Samsung device has received a new PRL since 60676. We haven't received any notice of why or when Samsung devices will receve the new PRLs.
2. 60677 had numerous problems. All throughout Florida people were reportedly not getting any data at all while roaming, let alone 3G Data while roaming. So 60678 was pushed out to fix the issue, but it disabled 3G Data roaming for the time being. It may be enabled later on down the road.
3. Manually changing you PRL will not break your phone...but expect your PRL to switch back as your phone does a daily check for updates to the PRL. That is why alot of the community was switched back to 60676 after manually updating to 60677.
4. If you get any type of corperate discount on your account, you will receive the 1115 PRL.
-------------------------
National & Custom PRLs Available for FL, MI, OH, WVA, & WI
Sprint has released Custom PRL 1115 and National PRL ending xxx78 that will impact subscribers who roam in these states.
Custom EVDO PRL 1115 – Provides Business IL and CL subscribers with continued 3G/Mobile Broadband roaming services.
Consumer accounts in these states will experience a loss of 3G/Mobile Broadband roaming services. Refer to PRL Newsflash (xxx78).
Delivery of this Custom PRL is dependent on eligible Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Phones/PDAs and Mobile Broadband devices.
Devices not eligible to receive the Custom PRL will receive the National PRL and won’t have 3G/Mobile Broadband roaming in these areas.
National PRLs (10078/50578, 20278/60678 and 60778) - Removes 3G/Mobile Broadband roaming coverage for all consumer accounts with push capable phones/PDAs and Mobile Broadband devices.
This coverage was previously enabled with PRL xxx77 and is now being removed since it didn’t provide the expected on-network capacity relief.
In an effort to strike the right balance between customer experience and roaming cost of service, the 3G roaming coverage will no longer be available for consumers but available to Business customers via Custom PRL 1115.
Consumers receiving these National PRLs will still have 1xRTT data roaming service available in the impacted states.
Sprint will begin proactively pushing the PRL to subscribers with in these locations first, then to the entire base. Subscribers with Mobile Broadband devices have to accept the PRL update prompt via SMARTview to receive this release.
Hmm so no roaming and 3g for me

Yes the only rish is that it will be pushed back. Nothing else.
And you're very welcome
(I'm thinking about manually updating to 1115 for the time being.)
I manually updated mine to 1115.
I'm assuming they wont be able to roll it back on Epics like mine that have the DATA & PRL update "internal/unknown error" issue, that still isnt resolved. Mine has been sitting on 60677 since I manually updated it when it came out. (No choice, since the automatic update doesnt work.)
May be it's different on other people's though.

You wont need it, unless you travel to one of the affected states & Yes you can update while there as you are under a Heirarchy as an account type/ Corporate - Sub type/Individual, also to everyone else, if you are a BCS/Premier or Business/General Business or Public Sector account you too will get this - even if you dont receive a discout
BTW, This is not a Sprint error, rather a problem caused by higher Gods in the wireless world.
Anyone successfully running ROAM CONTROL on Syndicate Frozen Rom? I cannot get it to work whatsoever. Tried uninstalling, reinstalling, but the software does not respond to "force roam". Wondering if its a compatibility issue with SFR.

this has been covered ad nauseum...
Sprint's roaming agreement w/ Verizon is for 1x data only, not 3G
there 'may' be a workaround/PRL hack but you'd have to search more for that answer because I just don't have it and I'm not gonna do the searching for ya

This.
It all depends on what PRL you're using. There is a PRL out there which will enable 3G roaming speeds, but few phones have it. You can manually update your PRL, but Sprint will usually roll you back within 24-48 hours. I've thought about manually updating my PRL, then freezing the service which allows it to be rolled back, but haven't gone through with it.
Reason being, I'm in Chicago and forced roaming on Sprint doesn't work in the Chicago area as stated by the dev of the app.
Works well up in Wisconsin, but not around here.
There's a thread somewhere about updating your PRL...search for it and read through it. That will tell you everything you need to know.

I've changed my prl over two months ago and they.switched me back to sprints after about 3 weeks. I chanced it back after, to what I wanted and haven't been switched back at all. Maybe the roll backs are location based? A lot of people say they get forced back to a sprint prl but I never do

I notice when I use a Verizon PRL I can download 3G speeds at my place at about 600Kbps. When I use a Sprint PRL and roam it is always around 100Kbps and the ping is very high, usually around 1000ms.
Sprint coverage at my house is terrible, to the point where I can barely send text messages. Verizon works great though, I even get 3G working here at reasonable speeds.
Now the problem with the Verizon PRL is that I can't get back on the Sprint network and I am always roaming no matter what. At work Sprint service is fine. I have roam control which is awesome but it would be nice to roam and have good data rates too.
yes there is
(dont try and flash the zip you have to write the PRL with QPST)
That's the one I'm running now. Maybe it is just connecting to a different tower than with the Verizon PRL.
Oh, wait... I'm using 01115 for a PRL. I will give that one a go. Thanks
yea that gave me 3g speeds (didnt run a speed test but it was fast) but my wireless signal kept dropping....
other prls give me 1x and I get about 6-15kbytes/sec download xD
yeah on roam control ping with verizon is ~1000
im in the same situation.
If i do the QPST thing, how easy will it be to revert back to my sprint prl? Because like you, i would only need it while im in my house.
Step RIGHT out the door, BOOM 6 bars. Its like my house is lead or something lolol
