Ok so Ive Tried Z4Root, Ive tried DroidX Root, Universal Androot, and I just tried doing it the long way with no avail. So...where to next..
I Guess I should clarify that im on a Milestone X
Z4root....it runs through its steps but instead of restarting my device it just goes back to home screen, doesnt matter how many times i pull the battery and retry i get the same results...I have tried 1.1 and 1.3 and I have rebooted uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled, rebooted, ran program again and same results apply..
DroidX Root...Ive tried using sync mode, usb mode, and pc mode, debugging is on and it will either give a fail message or it will hang on waiting for device. I also have the debug log i could send for reference.
Universal Androot......runs for about 3 seconds and crashes requiring force close
Manual Root... when i typed in the code (./rage*.bin ) it started working but hangs up and the $ never shows back up
SO, is there any hope?
thanks in advance

Update: I finally got my phone rooted using Gingerbreak 1.2
I've used both z4root and universal androot to root both an X and a Milestone. So If those don't currently work the way you are doing it, try rooting with the SD Card Un-mounted. Doing that allowed it to work on my milestone.

I was going to recommend gingeroot (or command-line) but it looks like you got it figured out.
Can't believe how easy rooting the DX is now. WOW

First up I'd like to point out that I'm fairly happy with what's going on. I've put more custom images on my Hero than you can shake a stick at
That being said I cannot for the life of me get my Streak to take a new image. I'm praying that someone can figure out what I've screwed up and point me in the right direction :/
A couple of days ago I successfully installed Steve's 1.1.1. I immediately upgraded that to 1.2.0 with the amss update too. At this point my Streak stopped booting, getting stuck at the Dell Logo :/ I've tried for the past couple of days to fix my situation, trying just about everything I can find on the site but nothing got me booting again.
So I went back to the 1.6 nandroid backup I'd made
However now when the Streak boots into 1.6 I have a couple of issues:
1) The Home and Menu icons flash/alternate occasionally.
2) I'm getting No Service AND my baseband is reported as unknown :/
The full details 1.6 reports are:
Baseband Version: Unknown
Kernel version: 2.6.29-perf
OEM version: GAUSB1A110700
Build number: 4399
As the Official 2.2 has been released I thought I'd try that. So following the guide I've applied it via fastboot but this just will not work either. I've tried 4 or 5 times now and after 15mins of sitting at the Dell logo I conclude it's failed.
Can anyone suggest anything I can try ? I'm guessing I've somehow screwed the combination of baseband and system image but I'm lost as to what I need to straighten it out :/
Ok, well after trying to recover what feels like a thousand different ways. I've managed to get an O2 1.6 image on, with an identifiable baseband version. I did this following the guide on modaco
So now I'm going to try for 2.2 again.
I dont know where to start.
Well I got samsung galaxy S just today (thats bell version, vibrant)
and I tried unlocking by rooting them
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682

the phone works if its not connected to pc
but when it is connected it doesn't work..
the phone goes dark
then the loading circle thing shows up
then the empty battery thing shows up then the phone turns dark
then the loading circle shows up etcs this repeats..
I can't do anything since it won't connect to pc
my computer doesn't even recognize it, it doesn't show as connected device.
I tried changing the usb settings to
samsung kies/media player/mass storage
none of them works, also tried usb debugging mode
but same thing happens
my phone would turn off (turn dark) then the loading circle then the battery (empty battery) with loading circle, then dark. T_T
i am trying to get my phone to work for 5 hours and I can't do it
I feel like i screwed up my phone and it won't work forever..
What do i do? I really need help.

Hard- and Software specifications:
Modelnumber: GT-P6800, bought in Austria
Android Version: 3.2
Baseband: P6800XXLA3
Kernel-Version: 2.6.36-P6800XXLA-CL614409 [email protected] #3 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jan 5
Buildnumber: HTJ85B.XXLA3 P6800XXLA3
History:
I successfully rooted my device with root_P6800_P6810.zip according to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21930246&postcount=7
In the following hours I installed, updated and used a couple of apps, among them LBE and Permissions Denied. I didn't do anything spectacular to the device IMO.
It's hard to remember, but I dare to day, that somehow Permissions Denied is involved in the "death" of the WIFI module, as it was one of the last actions on the device.
No matter how hard I try, it's no longer possible for me to receive any data over WLAN as well as GSM/3G.
It's however odd to see that the P6800 is still connected to my WLAN router and replies to PINGs.
Phone calls are still possible.
Measures I did so far:
At first I checked every possible setting that is associated with the device, WLAN and so on.
I did a factory reset through the corresponding phone code. No cure.
Having read numerous of threads and postings in XDA I successfully reverted back to P6800XXLA3_P6800OXALA3_ATO, most likely the firmware the P6800 came originally with, through Odin. But no cure for the WIFI module.
Strangely, I can still see an icon for "Superuser"(?)
I would be pleased if some kind soul could help me to get my device out of the state it is currently in.
Thanks.
You should try doing a factory reset (under settings->privacy). That's the reason that the Superuser app is still there, though it shouldn't work any more since you flashed a stock ROM. If it still doesn't work after that, you could try reflashing a stock ROM through Odin, but if your router is still seeing your tab, then it's probably not a hardware problem.
FULL wipe in CWM recovery, including System partition etc
Then immediately boot into download mode and flash your stock firmware.
Edit : if all good, root and reinstall CWM recovery again

Default [Q] Kies won't connect to phone! HELP!!
Hey everyone, my first post to the Forums!! I am new to the android scene, finally got rid of my iPhone5 for a GS4. The guy I bought the phone from has Kangabean installed, i was reading around on the forum for a few days before deciding to post this question.
I'm trying to back up my phone using Kies, and my phone will not connect. It shows the connecting part, recognizes my GT-I9505G and then spins endlessly. Basically i would like to put my phone back to a stock ROM and start from scratch.
Here is what i have done: Hopefully i didn't mess anything up?!?!
#1 installed Kies from the Samsung website.
#2 connected my phone with no success.
#3 tried 3 different cables
#4 ran the connection error and reinstalled the drivers 3 or 4 times now.
#5 removed Kies and tried to re-install the program
#6 used Super U? and removed the root (read somewhere on the forum about this)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

I have a Motorola Droid Razr M (XT907) that upon last reboot decided to stop at the Motorola Logo and won't continue the boot process. I can get into Fastboot and Recovery, but so far, neither has been helpful. I have read several threads concerning similar issues, but have not found a solution yet. This phone has not been previously rooted or unlocked and to my recollection the latest OTA has been installed.
When in Fastboot, it says Device is locked. Status code 0.
I'm working on a Windows 7 PC. I have installed Motorola Device Manager and the Motorola USB drivers. When the phone is in Fastboot, it is recognized in my device manager as Mot Single ADB Interface. When I run Motorola Device Manager it replies:
There are no updates for your device at this time.
Current Version:
98.12.4.xt907.verizon.en.us
I have also installed RSD Lite version 6.1.5. When I run it, it shows my connected device, however all of the fields look so:
ESN: N/A
Technology: N / A
Software Version: N / A
Flex Version: N / A
Bootloader Version: N / A
DRM Version: N / A
I have not been able to find the correct FXZ image to repair the phone and fear it may well be lost. I'm only 12 days away from phone upgrade eligibility and it's cost prohibitive to upgrade early, so I'd like to repair the phone enough to use it for the next 12 days.
Any and all suggestions would be great.
Thanks
Go through this threadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2869432 thoroughly. It contains everything you need to know. In short, flash your phone to stock KitKat 4.4.2 the .10 build, not the .15 build, unlock your bootloader and then it's up to you whether you continue on stock or flash a custom ROM. Do check (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3042687) that you have the latest drivers and the latest version of RSD Lite installed and if you have trouble with flashing check to make sure you're using the correct cable...
