Battery level issues - Acer Iconia A500

Rooted.
Unit is not plugged in, yet battery shows as charging.
Level does not change, unless I turn the unit off, and plug it in.
If I plug it in it, unplug it to see if the power button changes color or darkens to "not charging" the unit restarts.
Confused, and would really like to know how to get the battery level notification show accurate status.
Anyone else dealing with this goofy issue?

Charging indicator?

Does the charging indicator on the bottom of the tab in the middle of the bezel light up for anyone when charging? Mine does not. Want to see if its a defect or related to any software changes I have made.
Thanks

True, but i hope they change that in a software update soon. i like to know that it's plugged in correctly and charging. The light should turn green too when it's done. It's must easier than turning on the screen and looking at the battery %.
just hit the power button and look at the icon on thr bottom left. If there is a lighting bolt its charging.

I knew about the lightning bolt but not that the indicator only lit when the zoom was off.
Thanks guys

Screen blackout

Hello, First post long time reader.Ha. My question is has anyone ever have problem on their Dx with the backlight? Drained battery completely,,plugged in,,fired it up,, just bottom four buttons lit and the screen was responsive. I let it charge then eventually it worked. Is this normal or should I exchange it before it permanently stays fuc*&d? Thx guys

This may not be a problem. There may just have not been enough battery to power the screen turning on. I'm pretty sure you're fine
Thx buddy!

Weird Screen Problem?

So yeah, was just using my N7 about 30 minutes ago. Just picked it up and the screen won't come on. Happened earlier this week too.
The weird thing is, my computer still recognizes it (obviously the tablet is still on) but ADB doesn't seem to notice it. Any ideas?
It was connected on computer or power?

Neither it was just sitting on my desk. Just got it to reboot after 10+ times. Really wanna know what's going on, because it's annoying as hell.
I recall seeing another thread about this. Disable auto-brightness. Your screen is on, just that the brightness is turned down completely.

Hmm, turning auto brightness off. Let's see if that'll work. Thanks for the help.

N7 died in my hands

Earlier tonight while browsing tumblr on my Nexus 7, the screen went black. I heard static from the speaker and the display had some very slight noise as well. After perhaps 15 seconds of this, the screen turned off and the speakers stopped their gentle hiss.
As yet, it has not turned on or shown a charging icon when plugged in. I have unplugged and reinserted the battery cable with no apparent change.
First, anyone have some tips for gaining fastboot access on a seemingly dead device? Secondly, I have seen some returning their nexi to Google. What advantage would I have dealing with them compared to Asus' warranty department?

Have you taken the battery out? Or do you mean "battery cable" as in the charging cable?
I read where people have held the power button [30+ seconds] and that brought their N7 back to life..
Try holding the power button in for 30 or more seconds while plugged into the OEM charger. I've seen this issue in the forums before and it worked. Good luck!

Thanks to both of you, it seems to have either fixed itself overnight or was resurrected by the divine spark of an OEM charger.

Glad to see you got it working!!!

No charging notification light

I'm on T-Mobile D801 and I notice that if I'm using my phone, while charging, my charging notification light doesn't come on.
But as soon as I close my case, it comes on.
Is this normal for this phone.

Happens on AT&T as well. Presumable because one could look at the status bar and see that the charging battery icon is animating.
Personally, I would be annoyed if the LED continued to glow for anything when I am using my phone.

I totally agree with you. I was just making sure it wasn't a glitch that's all. Thank you for verifying this. Cheers!
