Just realised when I looked closely at the white background of the email hub, the white icons on the main menu tiles have burnt faded-yellow outlines into the screen, most likely because I had the screen setting set as "always on".
Can I fix this by placing the phone on a plain black screen for a good while? Or even switching it off?
Cheers
I didnt think the omnia 7 had a always on setting? I had a screen burn problem too: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=973337
Thanks for the link to your thread comera. Your screen burn-in was crazy big! Mine is just a few white bits from the main screen icons. They are only visible on a completely white screen and since I use the dark theme it doesn't really matter. They are very, very slight anyway.
The screen off "never" option is a registry edit. It has proved useful on occasion but I made a mistake one night and forgot to switch off the option and also the screen. Ah well.
If anyone wants to enable the option then here is the code but please be careful with it.
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Lock] "DisableNever"=dword:0

Hey guys I downloaded a theme to my phone but i do not like the portrait picture. How do i just change that picture to something else? Thanks!
SEARCH/READ THE USER'S MANUAL!!!! But, if you hold your stylus down on the picture you want as a background, you'll see the little circle things, then a list of options, like right clicking on a mouse, select set as desktop background. Then select how washed out you want it, and select ok. There, that was your freebie. Use Wiki and search the forum from now on.
no i want to change just the portrait picture. only when i slide my slider. i know how to do that. i remember seeing a deal about that now i cant find it.
I'm pretty sure there's no way to change JUST the portait picture. You mean like having 2 seperate desktop pitures with one to display in landscape, and the other in portrait, right?
Yeah. But I found a way of doing. Just a little more work than I intended. Thanks!
HEY! this is give and take here... So spill the beans, how did you do it?
Yeah! this I gotta know about. You may have found a secret no one knows. The other question is: how can you re-size a pic so that when it is used as a desktop background, it only uses a portion of the screen and doesn't obscure say the whole "black theme" in use?
I'll let you guys know as soon as i get it done. Haven't even tried yet. Been playing around with different ROMs to see which I like better. So far I'm diggin the Touch-It Light.

if you want to change picure ionly in portrait mode, bud not landscape, you must force edit the Theme you want.... or, ... maybe if it is multiple images theme, just replace one of them, but most are 1 file, .... in that case you have no chance without any program..
Google search for ThemeGenCE. It works like a charm and allows one to change the portrait (slide closed) and landscape (slide open) to different pics. it will also change almost all of the colors. I'll try to post a screen shot of the Halo3 theme I built with it. I've built about 12 different .tsk files with it so far and all of them turned out pretty well. It will also let you import an existing theme and modify it. I used the black touch skin and applied my own pics.
It automatically resizes pics to fit the screen...
Yeah. That's what I was gonna play with but never had the chance. I forgot what the prog was that's why I never bothered. Thanks!!
the gloss from WM6 doesn't show up when you make a theme using ThemeGenCE?
The gloss???
wow thats nice....this will work with the wing correct???
Yes... I'm currently running it on a wing. I'm having some issues getting the color fades on the start bar to work. It has to do with the WM5 tab but the descriptions are a bit cryptic as to what fields they actually represent. So I built one with a LOT of really out there colors to see what field effects what part of the screen. If you don't use the stuff on the WM5 tab then it will just be solid colors. The Halo3 one wound up just being green instead of the orange/green fade at the top. That screenshot is from the previewer in the program not what actually wound up on the phone.

Probably a stupid question but what were the size image options you put in? In the options it asks about the size of the screen & the size of the start menu
When you activate the to show the Battery at S2U2 the wallpaper disappers. I tried to find the backgrund in the gfx folder, but there are only some for a small part of the screen. The rest stays black. Is it possible to change the screen?
Dude... seriously?
I'm not one of those guys that loses their minds at people who don't use the search function. And yes, I know everyone has to start somewhere... but c'mon.
I use search functions, but in this case I don't seem to find the information. The rest of editing is quite simple. But the hole screen thing with battery I don't find .
My god, it's in the S2U2 settings man!!!!!
The normal wallpaper is in the settings, but if I change to showing the Battery, the wallpaperr is gone, and I just have a green battery on a black wallpaper.
The included S2U2 settings lets you choose when to have the battery screen show up.
However, when you choose the battery screen, your chosen background goes away and you are indeed left with a black background and a charging green battery. This is supposed to happen. I don't believe the default settings allows you to choose a background WITH the battery showing. Someone correct me if I am mistaken.
Unless there is some workaround, you have to choose between your wallpaper or the huge green battery w/ black background. I personally just have the battery show up when i plug my phone to charge

Go into the S2U2 customization thread. The skinners there have designed some batteries without background i recall.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354111
Bill80, you'll have to do some serious graphical editing of your battery files.
As previous posters stated, background is intentionally black when charging, and there is a thread which covers editing and modifying S2U2 graphics.
Sorry, but you'll have to read most part of that thread.

Thanx for the answers . I played around with the battery files, and got it at he end. Just scaling the wallpaper file down to the screen resolution, cutting it in 3 parts and overlaying the middle part with the battery (making it transparent). Replicate and widen the middle part to design the look the battery state, and voila.
The tread is over 500 pages long, impressiv. I had looked the before (also via search function), but just to many information to be usfull (at least for me).
Greetings all,
I have a S7, and when I have a open white area, lets just go with messages, When I open up the message (text, stock) and compose a new message, I get the white screen however in the background I can see the home screen icon's very faint, with colors. I did a screen shot and when on the phone you can see the icon's, however when I move the screen shot to the PC I dont see any of the icon's, I was hoping to post the pic, but the pic is perfect. I dont know how to explain this, but it weird. I have done two factory wipe's, this is stock, I have not modified this phone. The carrier, (If needed) is T-Mobile. Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.
Ciao~

If you take a screenshot and it does not display the same as what you are seeing it means it is NOT software related unfortunately this is screen burn
thats what I figured, but its very bad, I have never had any of Samsung Phones every do this. If the display is burned, why would the icon's have color? I see only the background icons, when the screen is white. If it was burned should I see it on all the screens?

The screen burn burns in the colors a possible way to test this is change your background icons from what they were previously and see if the colours have changed on the screen where you can see the burn in..
Alternatively Get a screen test app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ua.dp.ustav.screentest should let you put solid colors on the screen) and set it for all white (there shouldn't be any other color showing) then for all black (there shouldn't be anything but black or a uniform very dark gray). If either one shows any sort of picture "ghost", the screen has burn-in.
Apparently it helps slightly if you set the screen mode to cinema. (Settings>Display>Screen Mode>Cinema)
Hope this helps
Does anyone know how to remove the gray tint on my home screen on the image attached? I just noticed it yesterday and when using a widget for Circle Launcher, it has a black bar. I think that one is due to the screen resolution but I cannot change it to full screen in settings. It does not show up in the list. This one also just started happening.
Hi team!
I just got the Essential yesterday and am really enjoying it. One problem I'm having is after applying a theme to my lockscreen notifications using substratum I'm unable to find a matching black lockscreen wallpaper. Everything I try is making it slightly more gray than the notification backgrounds and I really want it to just be black. Applying the same background in the home screen does look like the black I'm looking for - it's just the lockscreen giving me the issue so I don't think another pure black wallpaper will do the trick.
Try this.
It was created with a editor and is as black as you can get.
You will need to zoom to get it to cover the whole screen. Otherwise you get a thin gray bar at the bottom.
