I can't reply in develompment sub-forum so I post it here:
I have installed this rom with a previous full wipe, and I have a problem: Lockscreen doesn't show up. I have try changing some normal and cm settings related to lockscreen, but nothing worked, when I wake up the phone it goes directly to the home screen. I tried wiping and reflashing several times but didn't have any luck. Any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks.
What about previous builds? And what about Ele's v2.4?
Have you tried another rom with 2.3 (chronos etc)?
can i piggy back on your thread as I have not reach 10 post yet.
I am now on elelinux v2.4 as well and i found that free RAM is <30MB most of the time, just occassionally hitting not more than 37MB. this make overall usage a bit laggy.
when previously on elelinux v2.3, free RAM is ~40MB most of the time and overall feels faster than v2.4.
APPs installed are exactly the same for both version though.
update: I was using hero kernel12a and had this low free RAM issue. minutes ago, i flashed it to Las Ventura kernel and seems that i got >40MB free RAM and overall usage feels faster.
google apps
Hi tried to install this rom but google apps no longer working, installed gapps but phone goes into boot loop, so back to old softwear.
Any help would be most welcome.
Cheers
I had that issue too... and i have to install CM nightly instead looking for a change but...
Maybe a long shot, but did you wipe the Dalvik before installation?
Yeah deleted both but still having the same problem.

I installed this Rom and Everything is working ok no boot loop's etc except it is super slow and laggy, i mean like i have to wait 15 seconds for anything to load up or close or scroll it's seriously messed up! i would post on the devs thread but i haven't earned enough posts yet.
Exactly the same here. The sense 3.xxx roms just east more ram than our phones can handle. Tried all 3 newer sense roms. Same issue as you described. Went back to g lite 2.01 and installed go launcher and themed that. Very very fast. Always has around 200mb free ram.

Enable SWAP
I had the same issue. It was painfully slow. especially while is synced up all info from google/facebook after initial install on my wifes phone. I enabled swap as posted in this thread and it made a HUGE difference. I do this anytime I install a sense rom on the DesireZ.
[GUIDE] Setting Up and Activating SWAP Partition Without Breaking USB Mass Storage
I've got a Samsung Epic that's completely stock running Gingerbread EI22. The problem I'm running into is that after the phone's been booted up for say 12 hours with normal use, there will be media playback issues. YouTube will be real choppy and the stock voicemail app will give me an error message when I try to play a voicemail file.
When this is happening, my available RAM will show something around 30mb available vs. 182mb on startup, so I'm thinking something's eating up all my memory. The running processes don't add up to the amount of RAM that's being used, so I could just not understand what that number means.
I've tried a hard reset and reloading the OS via ODIN, and the same problems persist.
If anyone would be willing to provide some insight on how to diagnose this issue, that would be helpful. Thank you.
I don't think it very normal but I know that after not rebooting your phone system apps collect cache the consume the ram and starve other apps for it. I do know that I've heard bad sd cards cause the issue as well for whatever reason that may be but that could be a soulution another would be to root and flash a custom rom and kernel.

Running apps is not telling you the whole story. Get something like Memory Booster Lite, look at the task killer and see what is really using up your memory. You may choose to uninstall or freeze some of the memory vampires.
i am having a memory leak also, but i got it after i flashed marcusant revival v1 and samurai assassin kernel. I have read through that whole thread and i appear to be the only one with that problem with this combo. I did not have it on acs ics 5.5, which is basically the same rom. I can't post on that thread yet.(not enough posts) I have checked apps running thru task manager and running services and nothing seems out of the ordinary. or nothing that didn't run on the other rom. is there another way to track down a ram leak?
Doesn't revival rom have the 10 lockmod in it? If not its definetly not the kernel try updating to 3.3 if you haven't already.
Sent from my OG Epic
It does, but i put it on acs ics. Maybe my phone just doesnt care much for this rom. I did flash 3.3 because i saw that so many people liked it over 2.0.6.
Thanks again for your suggestions

I took your advise here and switched to non lock mod theme and all is good now. Free ram is usually arouses 160-170mb which is great compared to 50-70 before. Thanks for the info.

Finally got my MIUI rom working perfectly & saving battery life. All the sudden it starts buggn out...Random freezes, reboots, lagginess...What is the deal?? I noticed when I reboot the phone it fixs the issue but why all the sudden when I didnt change much?
Im using no frills CPU controller could it be that my min is at 128 which is causing the issues? Also whenever I go over 998 it gets really buggy...??

I don't know about CPU tweaks, but Miui takes awhile to settle in. First thing I do after an install is reboot then be patient for a couple days.
Yeah. Agreed. I usually do about 5 reboots, just in the flash/setup process to help it settle in faster. Check out my guide, man. Maybe you're missing something in how you do it and that's why you're having those problems.

HipKat, what's the probability of the "issues" you mentioned in the latest versions of MIUI being fixed in the highly anticipated MIUI v4? Further more, what's the latest news on the development of MIUI v4?

Hello all,
Today i installed the CM-9 ROM by ErwinP on my 1 year old Wildfire.
Its good with some issues:
1. Camera doesn't work.
2. gallery has a bug. The albums were visible when we tap and hold on the screen and drag to left or right. when we lift the finger the screen goes blank.
3. menu loading is slow every time.
4. screen lock is present but you have to select slide in the lock screen settings.
For any further issues, i'll update here, as I am new to this forum.
Some facts:
The ROM after install takes 151.8 MB of internal memory.
I have custom MTD partition of 160MB and 15MB cache. I'm getting 290 of internal memory but the system initially is taking 40 MB(I don't know why.)
So, usable is 250MB internal memory.

first two issues you pointed are already given issues. read op to check common issues present as well as replacement app particularly for gallery and some other stuff.
other than that i think i dont have any issues like the other things you mentioned.
try 210/25 custom mtd partitions...it worked for me
@pauch_19: thanks for the information. I will look into alternatives to the bugs. Also you can try my custom MTD settings if you want more internal memory. Can you help me in getting the Market app to work(or any alternative app).

Did you flash Google apps first? Or just install 3.4.4 apk?
You need to flash gapps I think, don't bother with 3.4.4 you should get an auto update to the new play one eventually.

Yeah, you'll need the entire gapps since the market also relies on some extra stuff.
(I had the same problem when I just installed the market .apk on my Elf.)

that's probably the reason why you have more space on your internal memory because you forgot to flash gapps. incase you havent, flash gapps as what scratch and nejc suggested.. its also posted in op. its the latest gapps, about 52 mb in size so you will have to set your mtd partitions to default which is 250. im using the modified version which is just about 19 mb.
goodluck!
First of all thanks to all(Scratch0805,pauch_19 and nejc121) for your support in providing the information.
After getting the solution suggested by "Scratch0805". I again installed the ROM and along with the gapps at the same time. This time, I have taken the partition as 200 and 20. And after the boot, in terminal i found that system is using 186.4 MB. Still 13.6MB left.
Note: i installed the gapps with the size 51.88MB unmodified zip.
Now, everything works as it should have with camera as the exception.
One thing I want to know, what should be the CPU settings to follow for more than a day of battery life. Previously, i was using ON-DEMAND with 264-672MHz
and getting less than 22hrs of backup in CM7.

mine is 352/729 smartassv2. on minimal - regular use, mine last a day and a half..i really think it depends on phone usage.
@pauch_19 : So, it means you are not using any apps to control the cpu settings.
I also used the smartassv2 governor and i found that backup decreases as it was in on-demand.
But, the smoothness in using gets better in smartassv2. So, can you tell me which governor will be better in terms of battery life and speed or any post where its mentioned.
atm i dont have too many apps which is also i think one reason why my phone is alot smoother, responsive and gives me a very decent battery life. In performance - processor, my cpu frequency minimum is 352 and 729 max. i used this values even when i was on cm7 nightlies coz its much stable..havent tried it at 768 though cpu governor is smartass v2.

I'm using the miui rom which is basically a modified version of cm9, I use setcpu just to set an underclock profile for when the screen goes off. My settings are on demand176/576 and powersave 176/352 as I've noticed that unless i'm straining the cpu by playing angry birds or watching a video with on demand my cpu tends to stay low doing normal things like making a phone call or checking xda but with smartassv2 it seems to jump high even when it doesn't really need to.
Sent from my Wildfire using xda premium
@pauch_19 : As for your settings goes, it good for performance. And you are also getting good life out of it. Nice to know that. I also read a post earlier where members are saying CM7 is better than SplashMOD. If its true, kindly tell me If you know which CM7 nightlies version do i use and how to remove the apps(I once used CM7 # 256,I didn't like the camera UI but it was smooth though) I then, switched to SplashMOD 1.6.
@Scratch0805 : I like the CPU settings you were using. I will definitely try those when I'll install the SPlashMOD v2.0 downloaded yesterday. But, I haven't tried on 176 because i thought then I'll get delay in getting calls and also lag in the background process. If these are not the issues you are getting, then I will must use these, and I can say that I will get at least 35+hrs of backup. And how MIUI is as compared to CM9?
thanks again for the responses I'm getting.
Somewhere in themes and apps section is a thread for miui camera, its a flashable zip which will give you a much nicer camera ui than the cm7 one.
Miui is beautiful as a standalone Rom but gets even better if your prepared to put some effort in, it has the same bugs as cm9, but spend a few hours setting up workarounds and it runs like a dream, I only have 2 problems now 1 is the camera (nevermind tho, I have a digital cam anyway) 2 is if you like theming your phone miui is awesome for it, the only problem is it was designed for hdpi and gingerbread so all the top themes need modding to fit ldpi and ics.

@Scratch0805 : I don't have any knowledge of modding. But I will definitely try MIUI ROM and can you tell me which CM7 version you are using, just asking if I may try that one anytime soon along with the miui camera.

Personally I haven't tried Splashmod so I really couldnt say CM7 is better. I only tried CM7 and Im really impressed at how Cyanogen turned it into a very nice and fast rom. Before trying erwin's CM9 I was on nightly 256 build 14 and everything is working well.
I will try that one also with the miui camera Scratch0805 suggested. If all goes well, at the end of the day I'll be using CM7.
The camera should be fine on any rom I think, splashmod is basically either cm7 or oxygen (can't remember which one its based on atm as the "dev" changes his mind more often than I change my wallpaper ) with some apps removed or substituted for another. Underneath though it will always be cm7 or oxygen.
I'm on miui v4 atm and loving it but I'd recommend till you get into the swing either cm7 nightly 256 or keep an eye on the cm7 thread and look for the unofficial builds which have been built by erwinp and cobje, they may have a few bugs though I doubt anything serious otherwise they wouldn't release it + we are still clinging on to some fairly talented people that will most likely suss out the bugs and let everyone know how to fix them in the thread.

I'm reaching 72 hours uptime mark and RAM manager has started to act up. I occasionally feel lag and unresponsiveness when switching apps. Battery time is very good, 2 hours and 45 minutes of Display time, mostly browsing on low signal 3G (l'm on vacation), That's around what I'm getting on CM10 so it's pretty good for me.
I wish I have stronger Nexus device to run this ROM to it's full potential
Its the best rom ever for the nexus S, for the first time ever I have been able to populate my homescreens with lots and lots of widgets and yet it doesnt lag at all with scrolling. And the atrocious ram usage of the RC roms has been fixed with the stable, I can keep my phone running for a few days without any serious issues. This really gives almost new life to the nexus S just make sure you are using greenify.
Has anyone else not been able to get some apps to connect via 3G with this rom? They all seem to work fine on Wi-Fi, it's just with 3G that I'm having problems.
I experience crashes when playing videos using software decoding in MX player. The nightlies also have this problem.

no .. but remember to clear dalvik cache before flashing
The stable ROM has exactly the same problems as the previous nightlies (I've installed with full format of cache, data, system, dalvik, whatever):
- after few days it becomes laggish
- unreliable, happends to reboot itself. You can't even get to unlock screen sometimes; it happends even if somebody is calling you and you can't get to answer the phone
- do not use Chrome Browser otherwise it gets even worse
- if you use Swype keyboard the overall performance seems to be worse. With standard Keyboard it gets a little snappier but nothing that could be catalogued as "fine"
- people says it's cool because they keep the rom 1/2 days and then install nightlies or other stuff: when it's fresh from reboot it work fine, lots of free ram
- have more free ram by using Greenify but still the problems don't go away. It's overall heavier than a 4.1.2 (Which for some good reason Google made it as latest release for Nexus S)
- I've tried SlimBean with Thalamus Kernel and it's a little better for some stuff but basically the problems are much similar

What is the problem in giving it a reboot every few days? Nexus S has ALWAYS gotten slower even from the gingerbread days if you didnt reboot in ages.
I honestly think you should do a proper clean install because I really dont have that many problems as you say. 4.2.2 is the smoothest the nexus S has ever been, I am even running next launcher very smoothly and redraws are minimum. On 4.1.2 homescreen navigation was quite jittery with widgets and wallpaper scrolling, on 4.2.2 it literally fly's. That alone is enough reason for me to live with the slightly more ram usage.

Never had these problems with earlier Android. The reboot proves what I'm saying: he can't be reliable for long run since its performances degrade automatically.
If you read what I wrote I said I made a full clean install: wiped data, factory, dalvik, formatted data, formatted system.
Everything running great only problem is the GPS bug with Google Maps after exiting the app & turning off GPS for some reason GPS won't turn off only a reboot fixes it but other than that 10.1.2 stable is really great
