║GUIDE║ Transparent Sense 3 Rosie Navbar ║ m10 Image Editing - Desire Themes and Apps

Please can a mod move this to the right place, i think its either android themes or android software development, thanks
Ok I've has quite a few people asking me how to make the Sense 3 navbar semi-transparent so here is a guide on how to do it...
btw, sorry for terrible paint skills
Firstly download the latest m10 tools from here, thanks to Diamondback and Flemmard
Then extract them to somewhere on your computer and open m10editor
Once that is done open up Rosie.apk in the editor by selecting load file and navigate to where its saved on your computer
Once its decompiled Rosie navigate to m10 Files and select Rosie_Workspace.m10 and decompile it.

}
Expand the lines like this,
look for btn.navbtn_side_anim-Centre, btn.navbtn_side_anim-Left and btn.navbtn_side_anim-Right
change these opacity values from 1 to 0.75
look for 2 navbar.png
and change them from 1 to 0.5
Navigate back to the Start and click save
Push it to your phone to see if it worked
Done!

Image editing
Ok, so I'm going to be editing the lockscreen ring as an example, you will need to edit the files in idlescreen_base.apk and fusion.apk in order to fully change it
Im only going to show the idlescreen_base.apk part because its really repetative
As always you are going to need the latest version of m10 tools
and don't resize images, you will break them!
Open up the m10 editor
Press load file and navigate to where idlescreen_base.apk (or whatever other .apk your editing) is
Once it's un-zipped navigate over to m10 files
Make sure 'decode images' is ticked
Then double click 'Lock_ring_motion.m10' and decomplie it
Now expand the bars until you get to 'Textures', this is where the images are
Click on each texture until you find the one you want (note images are upside down)
Right click on the image and press 'Show in Explorer'
Then right click on it in the explorer and press 'open with' and use the program of choice (I use photoshop) and edit it how you like
Then save it using the same name in the same place
Then navigate back to 'Start' and press 'Save file'
Push it and reboot to see if it worked
Done!

app drawer is xml so i would say no

Works perfect thanks!!
As for app drawer though I dont seem to be able to get it to work, also rosie is acting weird, my original rosie is over 12mb and using m10 tool it stays that size, if i decompile and recompile with apktool it goes down to less than 2mb
Gonna try and work out this rosie app drawer.... lol

The load file button is matt, so I can't load rosie.apk

you have to link to zipalign.exe and adb.exe
if you dont have these just make 2 text files and rename them to the above and link to them but then make sure you dont try and push directly to your phone and also untick the zipalign box when saving

Ok. With root explorer i navigate to /system/app/rosie.apk, then I copied it to sd card. I past rosie.apk to computer, but when M10 editor trying to unzip the apk, it says: unzipping failed

Thanks major damo.
I want to try this but got drunk last night and phone is completely dead! >.<

I didn't know insertcoin was sense 3, this only works on rosie from sense 3, rosie from earlier versions of sense don't contain any m10 files so this method can't be used

You can use GIMP to edit images and its free. You need to pull a few files.
framework-res.apk
com.htc.resources.apk
rosie.apk
To extract them, rename them to .zip files, then once you are done editing, rezip the apk and rename to a .apk and push to proper location in recovery.
These three basically control most of images, icons, check boxes, buttons, etc that you will see differences with. You can edit other apks too to make them more custom to your phone. The only thing that stinks is some apps like facebook and others that get updated normally, you would have to revert back to original and then update. For now you have to push the files you edit back to your phone until nand is fully unlocked. Soon you should be able to use metamorph to apply themes. Just make sure you keep a stock copy of the APKs you edit in case you need to restore an icon or restore the apk completely.
Also you might notice that something you edit in one of the APKs doesn't apply, it could be because its in 2 locations and you need to edit or replace it in another APK. Like the signal bars for example, these are in the framework-res.apk and com.htc.resources.apk, so you need to replace the files for the signal bars in the com.htc.resources.apk file.
Here is a few examples of some light theming I did with mine.

You don't have to resign them, just rezip the files to make it an apk again, if your file you make has the extension .zip, just change to .apk
Make sure you make a nandroid backup before you start theming. Sometimes changing pngs can cause things to look weird. so you can revert back. Also you will notice there are files called .9.png files, these are different. If you edit these sometimes you can have issues which make an icon look incorrect sized or stretched out even. Look up tutorials on editing .9.pngs I think if you use GIMP it recognizes .9.png files and you might not have to do any extra work, but I haven't really messed with these to much.
You can find gimp with google search, its a program like photoshop, and the price is FREE.

Any stock apps you don't have to resign. 3rd party apps would have to be resigned I believe. TNS gave some pretty good info on how to theme. There is a breakdown somewhere on the net that gives you step by step directions. It might be the one posted above,i didn't look so I'm not sure. I use photoshop to build .9.pngs instead of using the .9 patch tool. Also the easiest way to make your theme us with mm or as a vendor overlay. A vendor might be too hard for you unless you know how to build from source. If you have any questions feel free to pm me.

How to use Root Explorer

Root explorer is pretty straight forward but can be confusing for some people who have never used it before. I have made this list based on the most commonly questions I have read about how to use Rood Explorer. I hope this answers your questions but if it doesn't, post the question and I'm sure I or someone will help you out.
When it won't let you manipulate a file ("this file system is read only") just touch the white button on the top that says "mount r/w"
When you long press files and folders for the sub menu, you can
Extract all
Delete
Rename
Copy
Move
Change Permissions
Properties
Add Bookmark
Send
View as text
Open in text editor
Zip a file
Create Tar
Change owner
You can also press menu for
New folder
Preferences
Bookmarks
Search
Muli-select
more gives you
Home
Refresh
New file
About
Exit
This program pretty much explains itself so just give it a little time and mess with it for a bit.
That's funny.

You will need the .apk file for the app you want to install. Put it on your sd card. Then Just copy the .apk file in the system/app folder. you will need to hit the R/W button up top in order to copy/ paste it there. After that it will show up in your app drawer.
This guide should help people out.

This reply is actually incomplete.
Those are the first steps necessary, but the most important step is, once the file has been successfully copied, to long-press on the file (or press "Menu" while the file is highlighted), and choose "Permissions". A series of checkboxes will appear. The Permissions will need to be set to match the other files in /system/app, which will be rw-r--r--. That is, all of the first column boxes should be checked, and the top checkbox in the second column. Any other checkboxes should be unchecked. Once that's done, press "OK", and it will confirm the permissions have changed. The Permissions on the file you copied over should now match the other files in the folder. THEN, after you reboot, the app should appear in your app drawer .

1. pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk (option 0)
2. Decompile apk (option 9)
3. add your pic to drawable-hdpi (must be a .png) and resize it as 480x800 ( if not, the picture will be stretched to fit in the resolution ) _ you can rename the file lockscreen_background.png for example
4. open the file res\layout\keyguard_screen_tab_unlock.xml with notepad++, and find the line
Code:
<RelativeLayout android:gravity="center_horizontal" android:id="@id/root" android:background="#70000000" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"
change to
Code:
<RelativeLayout android:gravity="center_horizontal" android:id="@id/root" android:background="@drawable/lockscreen_background" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"
5. compile the apk (option 11)
(when recompile do)
5.1. Hit yes to "system app".
5.2. Hit yes to restoring the files:
6. -Open the "keep" folder and delete resources.arsc and res\layout\keyguard_screen_tab_unlock.xml
7. when it is done, rename unsignedframework-res.apk to framework-res.apk and put it back to /system/framework/ again (you can just drag it to the zip file with 7zip)
Code:
[COLOR="DarkOrange"]=============Lockscreen Note==================
Once you have my theme, no needs to follow my Tuto as i already coded the xml for the lockscreen
You only need a picture 480 x 800
Open my zip file theme with 7zip and drag the picture in :
Framework > framework-res.apk > res > drawable
Then go back and 7zip will ask you to apply the changes on the apk.
All done, enjoy it!
===========================================[/COLOR]
Enjoy it
Thank you
I was wanted to know this tip.
I'll be make my theme apply this tip.

1. Make sure that the executable script(AKA "build") is placed in the root(meaning the base) of your SD card.
2. Using terminal emulator, input this command.(press enter after each line)
Code:
su
sh /sdcard/build
--this should change your build's manufacturer from LGE to Sony Ericsson--
--if an error appears, take note of the error message and post it here--
3. Reboot to recovey and flash SE_timescape.zip
4. Enjoy!!!!!
SMALL WARNING:
No undo.zip as of now, so if you're kind of fidgety on what's in your phone, stay away for now. But, if you have basic knowledge in removing system files, just fiddle with the zip file and you'll know exactly what to remove.
Bugs(help needed):
-app drawer button is placed a little bit high
-photo and video widget may present some errors

funny, that shouldn't happen. try to re-download. this time I uploaded the one I actually used on my phone.
i am currently using se launcher (for xperia) how is it different with that? Also app drawer button is not high for my launcher.
This launcher sucks. App Drawer doesn't show all apps.
good work man ! but the timescape font is HUGE!
looks ugly :/
it wieked on CM 7.0.2 )
i flashed this archive into recovery
and before i changed this string in build.prop

That's exactly the same procedures as the 1st post.
the downloadable "build" script will automate the build prop change needed, while the SE_timescape.zip is a signed(edify) version of SEUX.zip.
About the fonts, YEP they're ugly alright(as you can see on my screenies) I wasn't really planning to use timescape but I really wanted the photo and video widget to work. So if anyone can help here, I'd greatly appreciate it.
Another thing, I wanted to use the SE launcher from this thread but was unsuccessful. Again, if anyone can help out, please do.
Even though it has a few bloats, I still like this launcher(+ photo widget and folders - really cool). I also think it's really fast. I don't have much time to tinker right now so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I really don't know where you're getting at but trust me, both files are one and the same(only difference is with the update scripts which can be fixed by toggling signature verification). Anyways I've re-uploaded the SE_timescape.zip which is now compatible with all optimus one recoveries.
Have you tried the large photo widget? Did it work for you?
BTW, here's a screenie of the pinch gesture, really nice:
Can we use this on the optimus s? I would love it

It doesn't work as expected. Speech recognition and responses are very cool, but the app gets stuck almost every time after the first response. :-(

To Fix EDIT MOD :
To fix the network error, edit two lines in the build.prop to add GT-I9300
The 2 lines should look like the following:
ro.product.device=GT-I9300
ro.product.model=GT-I9300

you can try else you have to copy app in system /app
I got it installed, placed in the system/app folder. Changed the build.prop files. I still get a DC after asking it to call someone.
Any ideas or thoughts on getting it to stop fc-ing? Also I find this weird, I had 45% power before hand. Now I'm at 17%. Check out the drop in my screenshoot.

To get the S-Voice to work..
1A. You need ICS, if your on GB, ttyl
1B. You NEED rooted device
1C. Do NOT directly install like a regular APK
2A. Open the apk file on your PC with WinZip / 7Zip
2B. Extract "libsvoxtts.so" from \lib\armeabi\
2C. Transfer both these files to your ICS device or you can push via adb
3A. Copy the voicetalk.apk (i tested with this name) to /system/app
3B. If there no space, remove some apks not required pref by Titanium Backup
3C. Copy the voicetalk.apk with say ES Explorer or via ADB PUSH
3D. Change permission of voicetalk.apk to rw,r,r
3E. Press and hold >> Properties >> Change (ES Explorer)
3F. Copy the libsvoxtts.so to /system/lib (do check this is required or not)
4A. Edit build.prop (with build.prop Editor or manually)
4B. Edit property ro.product.device with value GT-I9300
4C. Edit property ro.product.model with value GT-I9300
5A. Restart Phone
5B. Start S Voice from launcher
5C. I saw during setup trying to change Hi Galaxy to your own command crashed the app.
