events as follows over the last 60 days - DROID X
used update.zip to upgrade to non rooted GB
sbf'd to .340 to reroot and updated to GB rooted.
Donated to Liberty - got Libert v0.5 GB.
Rebooted phone after setting permissions, 6hrs after putting Liberty on, infinite boot loop.
tried to sbf to .340 - it still shows liberty the rotating hawk? boot logo after the default moto logo... still boot looping.
Suggestions?
and I can't get into the Dx android recovery either........
You did an sbf and you still have the boot animation? That should not happen. Was it the full sbf?
Yes, same one I used when going from Liberty 2.0 back to stock then to unrooted GB a month ago.
finally got into android recovery - wiped everything and sbf'd again. Works.

So, I rooted my phone via Z4Root, bought and downloaded Bootrstrap (awesome) then i installed the Tranquility 3.6 rom.. hopefully P3Droid looks here.
When i went to market to download Bootstrap again, because I wasnt feeling the rom too much.. It would download, then as it was installing, the phone restart, making it so the app was in an endless loop of "installing"
I rebooted the phone, and nothing.. so i used RSD LITE to do the SBF thing.. and it didnt fix it.. Tranquility F'd my shiz up. What do i do?
do a factory reset from the phone settings/privacy/data factory reset. I had the same problem. Apps would download then it would soft reboot during install. Evertime.
your gonna lose the tranq toolbox app after the reset. FYI.
whatd you do to fix the soft reset issue?
The factory reset should fix that. Well, it fixed for me at least.
Well, i cant bring up clockworkmod recovery, what would i have to do?
Loading the SBF does not automatically erase the current ROM. SBF to the latest OTA, and then do a factory reset using Motorola's recovery. After booting back up you will be able to start the whole rooting process over.

Well i rooted again, and loaded tranquility 3.6 again, but i STILL cant access Clockworkmod Recovery from TranqBox or w/e its called (phone isnt near me to look at it, sorry dudes!)
When i go there to 'reboot to clockwork' it just sticks at the Moto logo (i changed it from the tranq one) and doesnt move.. do i just reinstall bootstrap ?

You definitely need to have the Droid X Bootstrap installed. You will not be able to boot into Clockwork without it.
So I decided to give Tranquility a test and see how it compares to my currently running ApeX. I followed the usual procedures, data wipe/factory reset.....twice.
then installed TranQ and the TranQ App update.
The phone then boots up and freezes on the animation screen. So i reset it, then it won't boot at all past the Logo screen. Randomly it decides to boot up fine, but then 30 seconds of android and it reboots and freezes up.
So for some reason it won't let me boot into clockwork recovery, so i decide to just do the system only SBF it and be done.
So I've SBF'd it twice now, the first time it did a random restart and froze, and also kept the tranq boot animation. I did the 2nd sbf and it's got rid of the animation screen and back to droid, however the tranq boot logo is there.
I haven't proceeded to reactivate the phone yet, and just leaving it alone it hasn't restarted itself. I'm planning on rerooting and reinstalling clockwork recovery and see if i can get one of my old backups going.
But, any theories to what would have jacked it up so bad? and why the stock moto logo wasn't put back when SBF'ing?
update:
rerooted just fine using Z4, installed clockwork recovery just fine too.
Right now I'm doing a data wipe and reinstalling ApeX 1.3.1 from scratch from clockwork recovery. Then I'm gonna restore one of my backups.
Hopefully all goes well
update:
recovered to my backup just fine. Still didn't get rid of the tranq boot logo, thankfully i had a zip stored away of the stock logo so I installed that.
All is now well in the world.
Lesson from this......if it's working fine, leave yo sht alone!
Logo is stored in different place then a system sbf will update. That's not tranQ 's fault. I still use gummyJar though. Too much blur in TranQ for me
I had the exact same problem when I went from fission to tran q. I literally had to do the. 320 sbf then the. 340 sbf to get tran q to install right. Didn't like it and put fission back on
yea i had to do the same thing comming from fission, and because of it i am just staying on tranquility until Obsidian is more stable, then GOODBYE BLUR :-D
The trick to installing TranQ is to install it over stock. If you try to install it over another custom ROM you will have nothing but problems.

I feel your pain, but you shouldn't be discouraged (as long as you Nandroid, Nandroid, Nandroid!).
I also spent a week fiddling with TranQ before giving up due to random reboots. But I went ahead and installed GummyJar. It was worth it!
When you're ready to climb back onto the horse, you should try GummyJar. If you prefer a no-bur ROM, it's probably the best in terms of speed and stability.
well i had tried Gummy before, but it was a little buggy for me. Phone would restart after calls, hardware buttons wouldn't always work and a few other little things.
I actually just switched to Fission and it's pretty brilliant thus far. No problems at all, and the fission manager helps a lot

IT IS TranQ's fault. It is the only ROM that does this. Before you get rid of Tranq, you have to go in to the tools and set your boot logo back to stock. I have flashed many different ROMs and it is the ONLY ONE that makes sure to "leave its mark," LITERALLY.
had same problem when I went from fission. I had to sbf .32 then sbf .34 then did the tran q and it worked just fine after that. I didn't like it to much so I went back to fission. To get rid of the tran q I just did the same sbf method I did and went back to fission.

You're right on w/this..Its too bad I found out the hard way..
Hi all, yes, I'm a noob..
Trying to help a friend that screwed up his phone.. DX, had Froyo 2.2.1. and 2.3.340, was rooted with z4root, Koush Bootstrap, and Liberty 1.5. Did a wiped cache, factory reset, removed Bootstrap, and unrooted. Now the phone just boot loops with the Liberty logo (apparently forgot to change it back first) and Droid eye. I can go into the stock system recovery, wipe cache and wipe data/factory set, which I have done several times however it still boot loops and my pc still does not see the device, nor does RSDlite v4.8 with motohelper 2.0.49 driver 5.0.0, followed the sbf guide by maderschramm but still no luck seeing my handset. When I put an update.zip file on the sdcard and try to apply it I get E:signature verification failed Installation aborted. My eyes are strained from reading so many forums and trying to figure this out on my own to no avail, would appreciate any feedback.
Use the linux sbf tool here, its always worked for me

DROID X running liberty GB V.8
I have had a rooted DX and it was running Gummy Jar and I wanted to try something new so I went to APEX 2.0 RC2. when doing this I got stuck at the Google screen, I could only get into stock recovery so I had to SBF and got into 2.2.1 then rooted again and got a bootstrap and could get into Clock Work Recovery via clicking the button in the app. I installed the Apex 2.0 RC 1 because of my issue. I got the same result I was stuck on the Google screen an couldn't get into Clock Work Recovery, I tried 4 or 5 different ways. So i went ahead and SBF again, no i am on 2.2.1 rooted again but am afraid to try and flash over a new Rom because SBFing is such a pain. Thanks
I am in need of some help with my Droid 2 that I rooted and flashed. Everything was going smoothly up until I flashed the rom and now i am stuck at the Motorola M and in a boot loop. I have pulled the battery and tried to re-install and still nothing. I re-installed to sbf and tried the whole process over multiple times and still nothing. I have watched many how to videos even though this is my 4th time rooting a phone i know they are all different, and i seem to be doing all the right steps and no matter what i do im stuck at the Motorla Logo. Please help!
What are you flashing it from? Froyo? GB?

I've tried both medthods...Froyo originally. So I tried OTA to GB and then flash it...that didnt work either. What is the last sbf for the droid 2 anyway?
You should be on OTA GB when flashing it.
Check your MD5, lots of people seem to be having problems getting it to match.
Look at my thread on the Droid 2 Global section.. do steps 9-11 only.

If you're flashing Liberty you can try using Rom Manager. Otherwise after you install GB and root, install Bootstrapper, run it's installation tab then recovery. Once in recovery wipe cache, wipe data, then select zip from sd and install.
Make sure you have the proper version of Liberty for your phone.
Hi, I am also having the same issue
I had Liberty 2.0 v2.0.1 and wiped data and installed from SD, stuck at splash screen
I pulled the battery and tried 2 more times, still same issue
Then I wiped the cached, wiped data and installed from SD and I'm still stuck at the splash screen, any help is greatly appreciated!
1) Try wiping davlik cache as well
2) Make sure you have the version of Liberty designed for your handset. It shouldn't flash anyway if it's the wrong one, but anything is possible.
Are you guys using Rom Manager or Bootstrapper by the way? Just wondering.
Also, if you're coming from a Rom already on there and you mess up you can use Clockwork to restore your last saved system image.
