Hi all,
This evening I turned on my Galaxy Tab 10.1v, only to notice something wasn't quite right with the screen of my brand new device. Initially it began with ghosting/noticeable blurring of app icons and widgets when swiping home screens left/right. Which is not how it had behaved literally hours prior when I was using it during the day, where the icons/widgets would remain crisp during swipe motion.
Disregarding this for the moment I proceeded to open up a podcast I'd been in the middle of watching earlier, again only to notice more issues with the display, certain gradients/tones were being drawn blocky which lead me to believe that an update to the media player I'd been using may have somehow broken decoding. After flipping back to the home screen it soon became apparent that this wasn't the case. My background image along with the icons/widgets we're all being drawn with slight imperfections (colours looking off and blocky gradients). At which point I figured something clearly wasn't right.
After testing a few other apps only to find the issue worsening I figured I'd try powering off the device. Turning it back on I was now too seeing the same symptoms in the boot animation, and once Honeycomb had fully loaded the screen was a complete mess! Feeling pretty worried, I figured it may have something to do with an app I'd installed and I decided a factory reset of the device could be a solution... I wish this was the point in my story where everything turned out fine, however, this isn't the case.
After the factory reset process was initiated the tablet powered into what I suspect was recovery mode and set the wheels in motion for a full system restore. This took a few minutes, and once complete it powered down and back on once more. Same issues still remain, screen is a complete mess (see image attached).
Basically, I'm after feedback here. What should I do in this situation? A trip to the Vodafone store where I purchased the device is my first thought, as to be honest this smells like a hardware issue above all else. Has anyone else encountered anything like this recently who can share their experiences?
Fingers crossed all turns out OK!

That looks like some serious dithering issues (try running your computer on 8-bit colour) I'm betting on something really funky happening with the Tegra's GeForce ULP (overheating/faulty chips). Try powering it down and leave it off for several hours and turn it back on. But I'd sooner bring it back to vodafone straight away.
I have the same problem.
Can you update on your status?

I don't know if anyone else has ever had this problem but when out in the sun ( I think this is the only time to actually see it) I can see a burn in of the previous view. One example is sliding the app drawer up then sliding it back down I can see the apps and a thick bar that is the app tab sliding down. I am using the T-Mobile G1 and am wondering if this is a hardware problem or something else.
i noticed this too, i on't believe it is an issue and i don't think we can fix it. the only time i see it when i get my recommended daily dosage of sunlight wich is about 15 minutes, the rest of the time i am in a dark room in a basement on my computer
Ok I just didn't want to go on thinking my phone was supremely messed up.
i am a vampire, so i shouldn't have a problem with this haha
but good looking out.
i get the same thing.. only with mine I can see it when the device is turned off... recently its been overheating so i'm hoping TMO UK will switch it
I usually see it right when i force the device off (pull battery or Call+Menu+End reboot) for about 5 seconds and then it goes away. I'm not sure if my phone's behavior is normal and yours is messed up or what but something is amiss somewhere
I guess it's simply the way these LCD screen is updated. You don't really get 1ns response time with these small screens. They may even been designed this way to save power.
If you watch carefully, you may see the screen slowly fade away when you turn off the phone.
Yeah I tried it and you're probably right ( not sure how it saves power) but it does fade away after I turn it off.
My rooted 32GB has just started doing this (2nd time this has occurred now). When I try to unlock, it just makes a click sound and relocks and blacks the screen. The first time resolved itself. Not sure if a reboot will help (probably so), but wondering if anyone has seen this or has any suggestions.

Is there any magnet near the N7? (if you have case, maybe the it is not working to well, most of the case is not prepared for daily use )

Does the screen turn on and everything looks fine, but there is no touch response at all? Do the hard buttons prompt the menu's like power down and volume control but there is absolutely no touch input? I am asking these questions because if it is doing this you are having the same issue as me, I had been working on this issue for a solid month with absolutely no luck and the issue kept getting more frequent.I have re-flashed stock Google images both 4.1 and 4.2 with absolutely no luck. After the clean installs I did not root it I left the it completely stock and the issue is still there, also I thought it may have been my Poetic magnet case, well i took it out of the case and it still does it. I even removed my $20.00 dollar Steinheil Ultra Crystal Screen Protector thinking that may have something to do with it but that's not the issue. After every reboot it will work fine, so I was completely frustrated and could not find that many people on line with this issue. I finally had to send mine back to ASUS and they stated it was a screen assembly issue and they could replicate the problem, well I got it back last week and five minutes after booting it up the issue is still there so needless to say I have to RMA it again. What really bugs me is the Nexus 7 worked fine for two months not one problem then, I left it in a cabinet for 2 days without touching it and that's when the issue started and it has just gotten worse.
I apologize for the long story if this is not your issue but I just wanted to save you a lot of hassle if it is.
My issue isn't as complicated, fortunately for me. The screen is black (even though cover, with magnet, is open). I hit the power button once to get the screen to light up and slide the unlock. It looks normal but only flashes for an instant, then makes the click and the screen goes black again.
It self resolved again, so I actually am suspecting that it could be that when the case is folder over, the magnet may possibly be causing this. So thanks for that suggestion. Next time it happens I'll be looking specifically for that to see if I can narrow it down.
So I'm here in the US, but I'm using the Korean SHV-E300L. About a week ago, my phone fell off my bed and cracked slightly, but the touch screen responded perfectly. However, last night while I was texting, I noticed the screen scrolled a little slower than normal, and I couldn't quite text as fast. Today everything was normal until a few hours ago, where the screen would seem to hang and not respond, and sometimes the notification panel would start to drop, but never fully descend. I went into developer options and turned on "Show touches" and it shows a persistent input in the upper left corner of the screen. Other than replacing the screen, is there anything software related that I can do about this?

Do you have a stock firmware or custom? If you have a custom try re-flashing it if you never had issues with it. The best way to go is if you are on stock firmware soft-reset your phone by holding the power button until it forces power off then turn it back on. If that doesn't fix your issue then your hardware is messed up.
The S4 screen is very sensitive and I hate it sometimes because the smallest air bubble on my device makes the screen go crazy touching all kinda stuff. Good luck!

Well I literally just rooted it after posting this because I needed to get some files. But it's the stock ROM, firmware, etc.

try doing a soft reset then it should help or at least im hoping so.
It hasn't worked but for some reason when the phone is in landscape it does a bit better. I'll try to do a screencap video
Also, If I just unlock the phone and let it sit, no touches register
I recently got a somewhat new YD201. It was never really in use and just laid there for about 1-2 years, so it was completely discharged. I started charging it, everything went fine - the back screen worked without any issues. Then, after some more charging, it randomly stopped. It's now stuck at a particular screen and won't move anywhere, even if I try unlocking it (I'm getting the vibrations but no visual feedback). No matter what I do, I'm stuck at a frozen back screen.
The phone seems to be usable outside of it but I'd like to use the back screen too if it were possible. Is there anything I could do? I already tried a factory reset but that didn't help.

Sounds like the screen is not getting any power. It could either be a faulty connection or even a broken screen. Maybe it got a nasty bump or was under a lot of pressure?
Were you using it when it froze or was it in between uses? Might someone have messed with it?
Display is only showing the left side of the screen. Right side of the display looks like static. You've all seen this before on the forum. Touch still works on the entire screen.
The squeeze fix never worked. Tapping on the device or any other physical manipulation has never fixed this issue at any time. No changes, not even a flicker.
This issue persists even during boot, during recovery and fastboot. Persists after factory resets and even bootstack changes. I have not attempted a full reset to stock as under the circumstances it seemed like it'd be ineffective.
Opened phone. Ribbon cable was secured. Popped it off, reseated it. Didn't work. Reseated it again no go. Applied a strip of electric tape to the sponge pressing on the Connector in case it wasnt applying proper pressure. No good.
Here is what did, strangely, improve the situation.
Played a video on it one day just to listen to it. While doing so, spun the phone around absent mindedly on its axis like a figet spinner. At some point the problem had gone away. Cycling rotations seemed to have fixed it. Then when the screen went off, it came back when I turned it back on.
From this point forward whenever I reboot the device the screen was fixed and remained fixed until the display is turned off. If I cycle the display the issue returns. A reboot fixes this until the display goes black even once. If I leave it on for hours it never returns.
---Wtf.
Autorotation doesn't seem to fix the issue anymore. For a short time, it seemed as if I could turn off the screen by other means and it would come back on without issue as long as I didn't touch the power button. This is no longer the case and this only lasted a day.
----
So tldr
• Screen has half screen issue (right side)
• Ribbon secured. (Phone currently open for testing)
• Rotation fixed issue. For a shirt time shutting off display by using shortcuts and coming back on with fingerprint had the phone working with no issue until I'd push the power button to turn off the display. This would have the issue return.
• After one day this no longer works and issue returns whenever the display turns off regardless of mechanism.
• Rebooting the device fixes the screen, and remains fixed until such a time when the screen turns off either manually or idle. Upon powering on the display hte issue returns and goes away on reboot.
• Soft reboots do not fix the issue for some reason.
• If I go into recovery with the screen fixed, and power off the display and power it back on the half - screen issue returns. This isn't a ROM issue.
• I am rooted. On an old 8.1.0 AEX ROM I have been using since last year. I stopped updating or messing with my phone as I found the zen in stability. No issues the entire time, until now.
•At the end of my rope.
Thank you. Hope this is clear enough. Really appreciate the help.

did you do anything to the phone before? Battery change for example?
I suspect your screen flex cable is bad, but since you could recover from it by turning it off and doing some voodoo magic, it kind of sounds like software... maybe just try one of the new device-specific Pie ROMs
But yeah, wtf
Actually thinking about it, it's probably the screne controller. It should have an off state and maybe a low power mode (for always on display). Of course a screen swap on the Axon makes little sense at this point.
