Hi,i rooted my cell two months ago, nothing ever was wrong with my vibrant, yesterday my camera fails to activate and a window appears and says "warning, camera failed", is there anything I can do to get it working? I'm a tattoo artist and need my camera, does anyone know how to fix it?

Power off the phone and remove the battery for about 15 seconds and then give it a try...
Nah, its still not working, thanks though, does anyone else know what to do?

Flash a new rom and try again. If that doesn't work then it may be a hardware problem.
If its a hardware problem, how do I fix it

If your phone is under warranty then you'd do a warranty exchange. If it's not then you could buy a new camera assembly for it but that wouldn't guarantee to fix the problem as the hardware error could be on the main board somewhere. It's most likely a software problem. Since you're rooted you can just reflash the camera firmware.
Have you tried a 3rd party camera app?
Its been a few months since I rooted my cell, the camera was always working unroll the other day, and which apps are you talking about, and where would I get the drivers for my camera? And would a rom fix it?

Goto the market and download Retro Camera, it's free and while I don't personally care for it, if it can take pictures then you can prove that your camera hardware still works.
As for camera firmware you can try this, it's clockwork flashable and should work on 2.2 and 2.2.1 altho it is pulled from an older 2.2 build. Some people have had luck with it, other have not http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10952849/Camera-Stock-signed.zip Use at your own risk, I am not responsible if you phone slips into null space.
Assuming that your camera is not working because of a software glitch then yes, a new rom should fix the problem.
Thanks for the assistance, but retro camera won't work, said something about unable to set up and report my cell and model number to etc......ok, now that it has to be a hardware malfunction, how do I unroot and get the bloatware back on for the warranty?

I would try flashing that camera firmware zip first to just be sure. If that doesn't work, then ODIN back to stock as mentioned above and do a full wipe.

NOOOO
What does it mean to Flash?
My version: It means you are going to replace your current system image/OS with one that you have downloaded from one of our wonderful developers.... you flash a rom by installing the .zip file you download from XDA or the developers site. You flash them using Clockwork Recovery (which is part of Rom Manager in the market)
XDA wiki: Term meaning to write something (usually a ROM image) to a non-volatile chip. The term originates from original chip writers (EPROM blowers) which used to write to a chip by fusing tiny areas in the chip making individual links either short circuit or open circuit.

Yes it would unless you back them up somehow.
Are you running a custom rom right now?
No stock rooted why?

I found this:
"Be careful in Service Mode that you know what it is your changing. If you hork up your phone you can reset it by doing a Factory data reset in Settings / Privacy / Factory data reset."
from here
but be careful, you'll need to reinstall your apps if you do that, but if you flashed the rom again you'd have to do that anyways.

I've had great battery with Macnut R13.
I've actualy never had below 24 hours unplugged.
but fair warning: some people say the opposite so I may have just got lucky.
It seems to be about 50/50 have good battery life or dont lol
Also I hear great things about Team Whiskeys roms.
as well as Auxura (Although the guy developing the rom recently stopped development on it)
if you want to stay with 2.1 you might try team whiskey
or if you like 2.2 then any of the above would be great roms
everyone has their own opinion though so you might try a few before you find one you like alot.
Okay one more question... let's say I flash a rom right now... then flash another tomorrow... will the one I did the day before be completely erased when I flash a new one I've heard of people experiencing bugs and this happened ..

Generaly yes you should not have a problem.
but if you do run into trouble you can use odin to start clean, in fact alot of people prefer to use odin to get back to stock before flashing any rom.
but its up to you, I generaly only use odin if things start acting weird (which is next to never)
Wait... isn't Odin how you flash new roms?
Also can u link me to a good tutorial on flashing roms I'm trying to search it from my phone using xda app but its taking forever

Go to your files app.. then sgstools folder there should be a app called camera.apk
Get root explorer go to system > apps and delete camera.apk and the one under it is like camera.odex delete that too.
Now use root explorer to go to sgstools and move camera.API to system apps then go clear all data foe camera app reboot. Done.

Does updatimg the system mean updating the kernal? Iv tried some research n I dont understand the benift, aLso, to update the kernal do u just install the zip under bootlaoder?
Have you messed with the DCIM folder on your SD card? Such as opened it and accidenctly sorted by date or size? I did that once and my cam wouldn't save a pic...let a lone even open the app. So I hooked my phone to computer and ascended the date from old to newest. meaning the newest pic was at the bottom of the folder. unhooked and rebooted phone and all was fine... just my two...
So I decided to root and install Bionix on my phone after the Kies 2.2 update pretty much destroyed my phone.
I've searched on the forum so far to no avail.... My GPS is far worse running the Bionix-V 1.2.1 rom... The rom is absolutely wonderful, but the GPS takes minutes to catch on, then when it finally does get signal, it either has me going in the wrong direction, or a street over or something... which doesn't help any.... but then after about a half hour it will finally work normally...
Does anyone have a fix for this as I sold my cars dashboard stupid garmin GPS cuz I had my awesome Google Nav... in which the GPS doesn't work... Yippeee... What a dumb mistake.
GPS really slow to fix on a signal on mine too. Sorry, I can't provide many details cuz i'm a noob.

I recommend downloading SGS Tools from the Market and using that to get into LBSTestMode and deleting your GPS Data. If that doesn't work, flash a different modem.
I had the same problem you're describing. Deleting GPS Data cleared it up immediately.

My bad, come to think of it, it might have been pulled from the market. You can find the latest version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775154&page=37
I remember coming across an interesting thread about a month ago which provided instructions on how to physically modify the gps contacts on the circuit board so that it made a better contact with the gps antenna, thus improving the gps once and for all regardless which ROM you use. As one can expect, this is not for the faint of heart. Since I don't use my phone for its gps, I didn't have any reason to try the solution out. The only reason I remember it was because it was the first time I've read of a non-software solution for the gps issues that plague these phones.
If you were inclined to try it, I would imagine that you can locate the article easily by googleing it. If not, pm me and I'll see if I can find the article in my browsers history.

It's the link in my signature. Although if his GPS was working before flashing the new ROM it's most likely fixable without having to crack open his phone. You're right, it's not for the feint of heart, and sadly it appears to be a necessary thing for most SGS owners to undertake.
Oh my bad, didn't realize you already provided the link.

I have sgs tools installed already. I have the latest version. I hit gps fix but same results.
The gps on this phone has never worked correctly since i bought the phone in august.
What do you mean flash a new modem. Could u provide a newb guide.
Thank you guys, or if someone has another suggestion please list it.
Thanks!

Don't hit GPS Fix. Do this:
Secret Codes > GPS-Test and settings (LBSTestMode) > Delete GPS Data
You can flash a new modem the same way you flashed the ROM through ClockWork, but try deleting GPS data first. Personally, I prefer the KA7 or KB1 modem for GPS, but every device is different.

Give it some time (a day or so). Don't be afraid to try out different modems. I keep pretty much every modem and ever kernel in folders on internal SD just to play with.

They'll flash DI18 and it'll be back to normal.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I flashed dI18 and it wasnt back to normal as well.
There are fixes for both of those that don't require root. Screen rotation can be fixed doing the horizontal calibration under display settings. The other requires flashing a file to your phone with odin in a rather simple process found here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970452
Edit:
By the way, I did have screen rotational problems even after calibrating but I reflashed EB13 with the Samsung tool after wiping data and cache several times then calibrated it again and it fixed whatever the problem was. Also seemed to fix my TWS problem that was still there after the first install.

Could be the way you flashed it. There are problems some people run into when they flash using usb ports that aren't directly connected to the mother board. Reflash and try to use a port connected to the motherboard.

look thru the forums for the 'lagfix', its the adb command yamahasensorcalibutil or something like that.. its just calibrating your sensors... works great on a good install of most eb13 or ec05 install...
Use terminal emulator, if you don't have it yet get it from the market. Open it and type /system/bin/sensorcalibutil_yamaha place the phone on a flat surface, and hit Enter. Reboot the phone and sensors will function at normal speed.
You ca use adb also. Good luck

You can either root it and fix it, or take it to Sprint, have them ODIN it which won't fix it and have them order a replacement which takes 3 days.
