Anyone know why when i try to update app whenever it has new version, once i click update button and try to install, it show "application not installed". Those apps are like angrybird, gReader, Titanium Backup. The problem is not all app like that. Some of them are able to install successfully.
Whenever i encounter this problem, the only way to update my app is to uninstall my old version app and install the latest version then it will work. Any way to update directly without uninstall the old version? I am using Galaxy S I9000, Froyo 2.2
application not installed
Hi, just uninstall aplications and reinstall a new version.
Have you tried the Repair Market feature in titanium backup?
Also, try clearing data from Market in Settings > applications > manage applications. You can also try Uninstall Updates for the Market there.

I installed a bunch of backed up apps using ASTRO. Now the apps are not showing up as installed in the market, and therefor I won't get updates when they come. Is there any way to fix this?
You have to reinstall your applications from the Market to get update notifications.

thanks. I was afraid of that.
Now I see the new market is out for 2.1 and below. Will it auto update all the apps when I flash something new or is that a Froyo ability not related to the market version?
I did the *#*#307#*#* enabled 3rd party apps verified that they would install and all was working as described.
Now market apps will not update, and I cannot download new apps. It gives me a "Download was Unsuccessful, please try again" notification.
I did the *#*#308#*#* originally afterward, and decided to do the 307 prompt to turn app security back off. But still unsuccessful downloads and updates.
Anybody have any ideas?
Thanks!

I cleared my market cache on some advice from another thread, to no avail.

Here was the suggestion from another poster that worked for me:
What worked for me in the end - uninstalling the market updates (NOT the updater) - from options > applications ... I've lost options like automatic updates and "update all" but at least i can now update *at* all and install apps.
I wonder when does Market get "upgraded" again...
I did this, uninstalled the market update, and it worked great.
I did a factory reset to solve my issue.

no need to hard-reset.
make sure sd-card is not attached to a pc.
re-login to google talk.
in options -> applications delete cache and uninstall updates.
reboot device
make sure mobile internet is on
login to marketplace and everything should work again.
i just flashed my aria with liberated-fr007, but everytime i open market, it just keeps showing "The application Market (process com.android.vending) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again" Force close. anyone has the same problem?? please help, thanks

I haven't had the same problem but what I would do is clear market data (menu > settings > applications > manage applications > all > market > clear data / clear cache) and if that doesn't work I'd reflash gapps...
Of course I dunno if you wanna take my advice as I dont know the difference between clear data and clear cache BUT, what I can tell you is, if it's not working now what have you got to lose?
Don't think you should be flashing gapps on the liberated roms. Just clear data if that doesn't work the try reinstalling the rom after a data/cache wipe.

Good call, 1, I don't use nor have I ever used the liberated roms and 2, didn't think of that when i typed my reply LOL...thanks for the correction!
Reinstall the vending apk juss let it over write the one on there then reboot I had the same problem and it work for me.... Use something like rom manager or an explorer that lets you go to system>apps and find the vending apk its all I did n now it works perfect
POSTED FROM MY SUPER BOMB HTC ARIA!!!!!!!!
how do you reinstall that vending apk? cause the liberated rom doesn't have Rom manager. i only see Astro manager on the menu. please anyone show me how to reinstall the vending apk, thanks
i had almost the same issue, but i could browse the market, just couldnt download or look at my downloads.
the fix i did was, with Astro Manager, browse to the /system/app/vending.apk > then tap it and open App Manager, click uninstall, and it asked me to uninstall the updates. so i did so. it didnt remove market, just uninstalled whatever updated files, so i still had market.. then opened up market again and it worked fine.
btw im runnin the latest liberated aria as well.
I recently updated to CM7 Nightlies and by default it has got ROM Manager installed as a system file. I want to upgrade it to a newer version but can't as it says 'app not installed' when I have already deleted the previous ROM Manager.apk file. HELP PLZ !
Either use Titanium Backup to remove it, or delete the apk from the zip before flashing.

I already uninstalled it through Titanium backup and shows nowhere but still when I try to install the newer version, it says app not installed
Was "remove market link" selected in TB? And have you tried installing from Google? By that, I mean login to your account on the web and install it from there.

I didn't notice about the 'remove market link'. Where should I look for it in TB? Actually I downloaded .apk and then tried to install it on the phone. I've been doing it for ages but had no problems till now.
You'll find it in Preferences. Also, Menu -> ..., Market options allows you to "Repair Market Links"

Ok I see the following options in Preferences: Normal apps (apk), Protected apps (apk), System apps (apk), Market link... all of these are checked ...there are also options under Freezer settings > Remove Market entry (checked)... under Un-installer settings > Remove Market entry (checked) .... btw, the TB version is 4.2.1
That's all right. Try fixing market links. With rom manager installed.

mate that's the point, I can't install ROM Manager ! ...
Then all I can suggest is clearing dalvik cache and try installing from market. Try online install from your pc, Google should push it straight to your phone.

So, I stupidly tried to upgrade my oneplus contacts app from 3.4.2 to 4.0 (which I assume is for android 11) and now the app just force closes every time and is unuseable. I'm on android 10 10.5.12AA
On google I used to be able to uninstall updates but I don't see that with the oneplus system apps.
Any tips?
TIA
Nobody?
Still can't use oneplus contacts app. It just force closes every time.
Had to download google contacts, which is ok but I've been enjoying using more of the oneplus apps.
How did you update? Did you remove the system app and then installed the new version or just simply installed the new versionv without removing?
If latter, just disable the app, it'll tell you that all updates will be uninstalled and the app will be restored to factory version. Once done, just enable it again, and don't update.
it was the latter but updates don't uninstall when you disable the app.
That's the way it always worked on my google phones.
I just tried again and it just disables the app and nothing more.
Thanks for trying to help.
