I have a mt3g with the headphone jack on top. I followed the tut on the unlockr site for rooting it and after i flashed the sappimg.zip I am stuck at the htc magic screen. I can go into fastboot and hboot. Right now, fastboot says
Sappire unknown 32a eng s-off h
hboot-1.33.2010 (sapp31000)
cpld-13
radio-3.22.20.17
jun 2 2009 17:27:03
I have been trying to reflash the sappimg.zip but it hangs up while unzipping the system file. I have tried to use adb but fastboot doesnt show any devices. Any help would be great. I am on day two trying to figure this dang thing out with no luck.

You already have a S-OFF SPL. I don't think you need to keep using SAPPIMG, just follow the instructions on CyanogenMod's wiki and it'll be all good (mine is 32A but I don't think you'd have much problems with 32B )
I finally got adb to recognize it in fastboot. I dont have a recovery, or at least it wont let me boot into it. I have tried to flash amon ra but it just hangs up and says failed on the command prompt. I will go check out cm wiki and see what I can come up with. Thanks for your input.

I tried to install a rom, and it is stuck at the green splash screen. I can still boot in HBOOT, but when I try to with my SAPPIMG.NBH, fastboot will not read it. I had to use a different memory card other than SDHC, is this why? If not someone please help.

Sounds familiar. I had the same problem a week ago. Install recovery again through the ADB in fastboot ..
no problem
no deal
ADB only works if it has an operating system to communicate with. Fastboot does not load the OS.
I'm having the same problem, check out my post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614023
if you're lucky, you can use fastboot to load a recovery image. check this out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=530492 and scroll to method "via fastboot -> Requires engineerings SPL!".
if your SPL is good you're good, if not the solution is much more complex (goldcard, change spl, ... )
Well I fixed it. I had originally used the wrong rom (for 32A). So I am a complete noob. But somehow eventually HBOOT eventually read my img. I have to be more careful next time.
Hi,
I've just upgraded to Amon_Ra recovery 1.7.0 and when I go to boot screen the phone simply reboots to its normal state or freezes (less frequent), which is strange. So I can't do anything such as loading a new ROM.
Has this happened to any of you?
My specs are:

EDIT:
Fixed. Just used recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img
How did you reload 1.6.2? I used universal androot and fastboot won't let me load a new image.
I just followed this thread and flashed via the fastboot method.
Cheers.
thanks.. damn that won't work for me as I have a perfected SPL (S-on)...... Will have to think of another way
Russ
ah... re-read the options and downloaded the android terminal from market place. Did reloading the 1.6.2 RA recovery that way. Gave lots of out of memory errors but worked!
thanks again.

Hi all,
I'm in the process of trying to upgrade past CM 6.0 on my Magic (mytouch 1.2). I'm currently hitting a brick wall and was wondering if someone could give me a nudge in the right direction.
In fastboot - the device gives:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT -1.33.0013 (SAPP31000)
..
RADIO-2.22.23.02
So that's what the phone is currently running. I can run Amon-Ra's 1.70 sapphire recovery on the phone as well as CM6.0
I was trying (hoping to be able to anyway) to upgrade the radio / SPL to take advantage of some of the GB stuff people are porting over. I first flashed an update to an Engineering SPL to 1.33.2005 in recovery, and then I fastboot flashed a new radio, 6.35.16.19 and SPL 1.76.2007. I attempted to flash Clockwork's recovery at this point, and have hit a brick wall. I can go back to the original version of the software with no problems, and my phone boots to fastboot even with the new stuff installed, but I am unable to boot to recovery, either by holding menu down, or trying to boot the image from fastboot.
I did make sure to format my SD Card, I've fastboot erase system -w'd, and also erased each individual partition, with no luck.
Any suggestions?

It's at this point, after doing 'fastboot erase system -w' and 'fastboot reboot-bootloader' and then rebooting, that I am unable to enter recovery mode. The phone just hangs at the htc magic splash screen. I should note that I am able to enter fastboot and hboot with no difficulty. Attempting to do 'fastboot boot "recovery.img"' has also proved unsuccessful.
I suspect that my problems lie in my original version of the SPL being S-ON. I get the feeling I'm going to need to go dig out my gold card, since the update I'm using to get to 1.33.2005 seems to indicate '32b'. I might also be reading too much into it.
What ever you do... STOP NOW.
You are working in the blind dude... you are 1 step away from bricking your device.
You cannot have 32A radio. Your device is a hybrid, a 32B with 32A ram... Just look at it as you have 32B with a little extra ram...
Follow this guide and continue from step 4 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734617
Thanks for the save. I'll definitely admit that some of this is higher level than I'm used to. Appreciate you saving me from myself ;-)
So, I've got a MT3G that is apparently bricked. My buddy tried flashing a CM6 ROM and didn't root it properly - I'm assuming anyway since it's still S-ON. It powers up, gets to the CM Andy on a skateboard and gets stuck in a loop there.
I can get into SPL but that's it. I've attempted to erase the recovery and flash a new one with no luck. I can get it recognized via ADB with [ fastboot devices ], but I'm not sure that helps me much.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I don't mind the work, just need to find a way to get it past this point. If I can somehow manage to get it rooted from here, then flash a recovery so I can a ROM, that'd be awesome. Here's everything from the SPL screen:

Hi!
You're not recognized via ADB if you type [ fastboot devices ] and it gives you your phones S/N. You can be at FASTBOOT, HBOOT or RUU. To be recognized in ADB you have to boot in to RECOVERY or in to SYSTEM.
If you have working HBOOT (can boot to HBOOT with pressing VOLUME_DOWN+POWER), I suggest you to make a goldcard, download a stock rom for your MT3G (In FASTBOOT you can type [ fastboot getvar cid ], and the first 8 digits will tell you your phones CID number.). Extract the downloaded RUU and find the rom.zip (rom.nbh) file. Rename it to SAPPIMG.zip (SAPPIMG.nbh) and put it in the root of your goldcard.
Start up your phone with pressing VOLUME_DOWN+POWER.
If you get error about "Model ID" then your MicroSD is not a goldcard and you downloaded a "wrong" RUU ("Wrong" RUU (Phones CID not correct) can be good, if it is for MT3G like you have. Only you must create a working goldcard.).
If you get error "Main Version is older" then try to find newer RUU.
I hope, I helped you...
And then make the rooting with more care
Yesterday I got a phone from a friend. Mytouch3g
he gave it to me because it got stuck on the green splash screen.
I thought to myself hey i can probably fix it... well im out of ideas.

When i got it i was S - ON
i followed this tutorial
http://theunlockr.com/2009/08/14/how-to-root-your-mytouch-3g/
And i have gotten to S-OFF
Now i tried to flash some ROMs that i downloaded from here but no matter what i do it still gets stuck on the the green splash screen.
Also the recovery flash didn't stick
i always have to run this to get to the custom recovery
fastboot boot recovery-RAv1.2.0H.img
i don't know what else to try or what rom to try to get this thing to boot to android. And im afraid that if i keep messing with it I will brick it completely.
Please give me some ideas or directions on what to do.
Thx.
Im on TMOBILE US
OH I also tryed the RUU's but non of the US once worked.
I would just like it back to stock.
No one has any suggestions or ideas?
I spend many hours on the website and the interwebs and followed all sorts of tips and suggestions.
Also none of the threads with the stuck on the green splash have any resolution and concrete solutions.
Are you actually flashing the recovery, or just booting it? Try fastboot flash instead of boot.
Also you have the 3.22 radio, so you have to either change it, or use an ebi1 kernel. I would recommended finding ezterrys guide to update to 2.22.28.25 radio and 1.33.0013d spl

Several issues there... your flashing an old version of ra for the 3.22 radio to the system partition. You need to do this:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
And you need the G version of amon_ra recovery.
and you need to get back to an eng spl to do that...
OK well it sounds like i'm am definitively doing this wrong.
There is so much information and so many threads of doing different things, how ever i did not find one that has a complete spoon fed step by step tutorial.

RADIO
The new froyo OTA for the Fender/MT2.1 is RADIO-2.22.28.25 This is the same 2.22.28.25 that was pushed to the 32B phones.
If you have a rooted phone and wish to upgrade you can use the safe zip file I've provided before:
update_2.22.28.25_S.zip // mirror
md5: 2e384ab42da375458fdb135063b7536b
This will verify your system can safely install the new radio and ask you to install it.
Note: please ensure you have a backup before flashing this radio sometimes is known for some wacky things on first boot until you can get into the system and verify the clock is set correctly.
HBOOT
The new 32b HBOOT is the one you have always been using 1.33.0013
I've more recently have made a hacked version 1.33.0013d primarily for the Dream to have a larger /system size; However currently I also recommend it for 32b magic/sapphire users due to its reduced restrictions on flashing NBH files, as well as access to fastboot erase.
Since I don't think there is any nbh file safe to flash on the fender/MT1.2 the benefits of installing 1.33.0013d seem minimal on your phone.. however for advanced users, it will unlock fastboot erase. (useful for swapping roms; however most people can just use Super Wipe)
If you do wish to update to this I have a special update.zip to migrate from 1.33.0013 -> 1.33.0013d
update-1_33_0013-to-1_33_0013d_S.zip

how do i flash these?
BTW i appreciate all you help and support and if i figure it out, I will put together a detailed set of instructions for others that encounter this specific issue.
You have to get an Eng spl. Probably by flashing a sappimg with one. I'm on my phone and am too lazy to find one for you.
After that just flash recovery, radio, and hboot like ezterrys thread says.
fastboot flash hboot hboot.img (1.33.0013 or 1.33.0013d hboot)
fastboot flash radio radio.img ( 2.22.27.08 or 2.22.28.25)
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
I'm pretty sure those commands are right, but they are from memory and could be spelled wrong or be in the wrong order.

Then i flashed the myTouch 3g splash screen .
