[Q] Phone playing music out of the blue? - Milestone 2 General

Ok, it's not completly random.
It usually happens when I'm listening to a podcast and playing with the phone, but has also happened with the screen locked. It just stops the podcast and starts some random song I got on the sdcard, sometimes cycling through various songs.
I've tried a few podcast managers, so I guess that's not where the problem is.
Anyone got a clue on how to fix this?

My device does too!
I own a Samsung Galaxy Player 4, and it RANDOMLY, COMPLETELY RANDOMLY plays music out of nowhere.
I've searched on this website and unfortunally I haven't found no solution to our problem. Your thread is from almost one year ago, it CAN'T be possible no one knows the answer to this one!

"Random" play on the music player is not random.

Is it just me, or does putting on random (or shuffle) on the music player seem to do the same thing every time?
I tend to have a lot of music on my SD card and set the music player to select all tracks and then shuffle them. I've been doing this for a few days now, and it seems to be the same order each day.
I guess I could just shuffle it a few more times to see if I get something different, but I wondered if anyone else has noticed this.
Yes same here, even if i have it on shuffle and repeat all, it wont shuffle my music and stops after all song i played.
Mine does shuffle, but the shuffled order is the same every time I shuffle. It's as if the random seed is the same after a long period of time or a reset.
Since it's random, it could be the same order each day

As in, not random???

Music player problem

Has anyone else been experiencing problems with the music player? When my screen goes black I get random pauses in the song playing just about every ten seconds. It's very annoying and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem or had a fix for it.
I have also encountered this problem. Did a little testing and noticed songs still in mp3 format don't have the random pauses but once a song formated in m4a (according to properties on HD2) starts, the random pauses resume. Any solutions to this would be great!!!
Ahh, that would make sense why some songs played and some skipped. Thanks for that, I'll just have to convert everything I guess.. for now

Music cutting in randomly

When I'm playing music, other music will suddenly cut in. I thought the problem was WinAmp, so I uninstalled / changed players, but the problem persists (now using UberMusic) .... any ideas???
I've checked currently running tasks and couldn't spot any suspects....
Vibrant KA6
thanks in advance.
Its probably your headphones. If there is a short in the wire your phone thinks you hit play/pause, and your samsung music player starts up. That's my guess.

thanks, but no; happens regardless of cord. I regularly use three seperate ones (connecting car, stereo and headphones). Just to be clear - one song is playing, then half way through another song cuts in and plays over the top - no pause at all.
I had a similar issue, but my music would just start randomly playing at any time. Sometimes just randomly, while locked and in my pocket, and it happened a few times for some reason when I opened up facebook. It's always one of the mp3's I have saved on my phone, and always the first in the playlist, like it was actually selected. I also couldnt get it to stop. It would either randomly stop on it's own or I'd have to turn the phone off. Opening up the media player didnt do anything at all. Hasn't happened in a couple months and I didn't do anything to fix it. Hope someone has an answer.
I get the same issue with mine. For me it happens most of the time with Google Music. If I press the play button from the lock screen, sometimes just clicking next on the music controls in the notification tray, and sometimes just randomly.
When I pull up Google Music, it will usually have whatever song is playing, but it will be shown as not playing. Sometimes pressing play, then pause will stop it. Other times, the only way to stop it is to let it play the song through or reboot my phone. Even ending the Google Music app from the Task Manager doesn't stop it.
Hopefully someone knows some more information on a fix for this.
P.S. This happens despite what headphones/cord I plug into the phone.
Try Headset Blocker in the app market...it's free and solved the problem for me...there are a few others but I don't remember the names

Now that I think about it, you're absolutely correct - this only happens with mp3's that I've downloaded and are stored on the phone mem ... perhaps it's one of the download programs. I often use GTunes, which has an inbuilt player ... I reckon it's possible that it's stuffing me around.
@chronos7 nothing to do with headset controls... as mentioned, happens even with a cord going straight into an amplifier.
just updated to the new version of gtunes, called gpod. Will report back after some listening
I had that problem with either WinAmp or DoubleTwist. Both are uninstalled now and I haven't seen the problem in a while.
It was quite annoying.. whenever I would disconnect the car bluetooth it would start playing.

didn't help ... sigh.
Extra info: it switches back to the original song sometimes. So, playing song a, song b cuts in for about 20 seconds, then switches back to song a. No pauses.
Try the headset blocker and see if that fixes the problem...I had the exact same issues and this solved the problem about 6 months ago and I haven't had the problem since...just try it and if it doesn't work then it's was free anyway but trust me it will work...
thanks Chronos, tried it, but no, didn't help.
Here's the fu**ing weird thing: i just copied all my music from my sd card to my pc. I then played some music with windows media player......... THE SAME THING HAPPENED! In the middle of a song another song jumped in for 15 seconds and then buggered off. Note that WMP never acknowledged any change, i.e. kept showing song a even when song b had cut in.
WTF? Corrupted files??
If it does the same thing on your PC it's not the phone, it's the MP3 file. Download from a different source. Some people still have trouble ripping/converting music so you get garbage/incomplete MP3 files sometimes.

I agree after some experimentation, but the problem originated on the phone itself. I can see this is the case because song a is polluted with song b and c, where both b and c are present on my phone and are completely unrelated to song a. I just encountered a Joy Division song with chunks of Prince and something else completely alien, but still all are my songs, not just ones that would have been inserted during the encoding process .... I wonder what program did this. I still think gtunes is a candidate, but have no evidence at all, except that in the aforementioned case all three songs were downloaded via gtunes.

Pandora problem

Am I the only one that's having issues with Pandora? I don't know if its the phone, or if it's pandora. I've disabled and restarted the app, and problem persists. Basically when listening to a song during my one hour workout, it will suddenly become static. Once that song is over, it becomes normal again and works fine for the rest of my workout. Was just wondering if any other users have had this problem, and have a fix? Happens at least once every time I'm at the gym. Never happened on my Nexus 5, just this 6p.
Thanks for the help.
I use Pandora a lot and have not had your issue on T-Mobile LTE...
Damn. I really like this phone but this problem is a little annoying. In a middle of a good workout and a static song starts playing. I was thinking factory reset but just wanted to see if its a Pandora problem or maybe it's just a faulty phone.

Audio randomly stops (youtube, browser, etc). I have to press play for it to resume.

Happens everyday (even with my S6). It'll stop when audio is playing for a bit, or after I hit the volume button. It doesn't do it constantly through out the day, but it'll happen atleast once everyday i'm listening to audio. Anyone else?
Anyone?
It is happening with my S8 either when playing games or youtube and even music.
This problem started after the software update. So i think it is a software issue..
Whenever the sound cut off, i just lock the screen and unlock it back....
Hope Samsung will release a software update as soo as possible
Games is fine for me, it's just players like YouTube, music apps, and players inside websites. Just gotta press play again. Pretty annoying, but happens atleast once a day, not constantly through out the day.
It happens to me in Youtube and NBA app when video is being played.
Sometimes the screen just shuts off completely too.
I agree it's not consistent.
To add, sound not working sometimes when i am using skype and even sometimes for my alarms.
What do you think, is it a software problem or hardware?
Seems to happen more through out the day now. It's pretty annoying.
This just started happening to me yesterday. I've tried restarting my phone, pausing the video and playing it again, turning the volume all the way down then back up. All of those things restore the sound but it'll cut out a few seconds later. Also audio plays just fine in my headphones.
I dont have my s8 yet, but this sounds like a problem I used to have on a previous galaxy s phone (i think it may have been the s4). It turned out I had a setting enabled where the player pauses or stops when I'm not looking at the screen. It's called smart pause. Could be something similar although i'm not sure.
Uggg
Same problem here. Got the s8 less than a week ago and I use spotify offline (downloaded) and Google Music for downloaded files and it always pauses after about 15 minutes, sometimes sooner. I don't use battery saver, and none of the 'smart' features are enabled. It happens with headphones, without headphones, on Bluetooth. Just pauses the song and I have to hit play again, super annoying and I can't find any fix. I'm really regretting this purchase.
I also have S8 and currently experiencing this kind of issue. Every after 1 minute of playing either youtube or videos on my phone it paused and I didn't even clicked it.
I have a problem like this on my s7edge. Then I thought it can be related third party apps. And yes when I uninstall Sputnik news app, it solves the problem.
