I just unboxed my TF...gave it the "once over" looking for all the things mentioned in the various threads....sharp edges, dust in the camera lens, dust under the screen, dead pixels, lack of charging indication, won't charge...etc....
So far....none of those problems seem to have made it to my TF....what a relief!
The quality LOOKS (appears) to be very good...and the finishing seems just fine...
I did the initial set up and everything seemed to go ok there too...no weird lock ups....no dead screen areas....
I set up gmail to be accessed from the screen widget...it just seemed to be a better way than just leaving that "0 emails" thing there....
I'm psyched! and I DON'T want to wait 8 hours to be finished with the charge!! waaaa...
It came charged at 61%...
Congratulations!
I got my TF yesterday, it's very nice although I have a slighly quieter left speaker and I think I've experienced my first SOD.

Hey I just unboxed mine as well a few minutes ago, and really have no issues either. But does yours have an led charging indicator? I mean when its off. Not in the actual hc os. When i first plugged in the adapter it turned on by itself, ran through the setup, and said it was charging. Im real anal with my gizmos and want it to fully charge before using it, so I shut it down. No indicator though? Im sure this is for everyone but can't find consistent results? Is your indicator on? By the way, congrats on getting one!

Most of the issues are Honeycomb-related and can be fixed easily via updates. The hardware on this thing is quite solid. Enjoy your new toy.

I'm a new user of Tapatalk and couldn't purchase it from the market on the TF, so I went to the Market on my Evo 4G and purchased there. Then I went to the Market on my TF and it showed up as an available app for install. It works great on my TF with no FCs.

Oh sorry mr Paul, but if you read the op's post carefully they said no issues with....lack of charge indicator. So, I thought he/she may have had a light or something? I know there isn't an led indicator now. THANK YOU. The device should still be charging after a shut down. Simple feature, and its not on the tf? Not a big deal.

I had only owned my Epic a week and this is what happened to the screen! I thought I was seeing things at first, then it got BAD. My wife captured this short video with her Evo before I took it in and traded it for a new unit.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I'm almost 2 weeks into my replacement unit and everything's fine so far.
That screen seems faulty to me.
Edit:
Or maybe even a loose wire?

Looks like a connector to the screen may have been loose :/..
I had it happen. Took it back and exchanged it even though after rebooting it appeared fine. I believe it was an overheating graphics processor (I've had similar happen on a computer).
At first, the guy at Best Buy was hesitant to replace it. I told him I didn't mind if he did a hard reset on it so he could rule out a software conflict (personally, I was confident it was hardware-related). Less than 3 minutes after being reset it was doing it again.
Now, I'll probably root it have some real fun!

I am having that issue right now! Anytime I even slide the keyboard out a little bit, my colors go all sorry and my wallpaper looks like old PC's with 256 colors! Lol or safe mode! I am 5 months into this phone, but hopefully it's still covered under some kind of warranty so I don't have to turn it on an insurance claim. Lol.

Wow! Seems to be a manufacturing defect in the latest round of shipments... Hope getting it swapped with a replacement was simple. Too much money to lay out to start with a defective unit like that, but as with anything, sh*t happens...just not cool when it happens to you!
With the amount of phones sold there are going to occasionally be defective ones.

I've had a similar issue, except much more subtle. Best way I can describe it: There will be random changing horizontal color bars that overlay on top of what is on the screen at about 90% transparency. It looks like something is interfering with the video output to the AMOLED. This only happens when the phone appears to be processing something like the loading screen for the Android Market or during the melody test in the *#0*# menu. It also appears to be related somehow to the battery charge level. The lower the charge, the more the effect. I'm just noting this issue here, and kind of wondering if anyone else has this issue. It doesn't really bother me at all, to be honest.

I think I was having the same problem.
It only seemed to happen when the battery was nearly depleted, and even then only when the screen was on high brightness and displaying nearly all white.
Seems to me like at low charge levels the battery can't supply enough power to keep most of the pixels white at high brightness, so it starts getting distorted.
Go to sprint service and repair store and open a ticket. They will either charge you $35 or it will be free if you're under tep, so long that you have no liquid on the device and it's not rooted. I'm a tech at one of the stores.

I had sixaxis app running and apparently when its running in the backround the screen wont turn off. I plugged my phone into the charger last night and when the phone was done charging the notification for done charging popped up and turned the screen on. because I had sixaxis open it didnt let the screen turn off and my screen was on all night. My question is have I damaged my screen by doing this? I fear of the infamous burn in now.
If you don't see an image burned in you're probably just fine

There is quite a bit of proof out there confirming that AMOLED will suffer burn-in. The most common cause seems to be a docking station where the user displayed an alarm clock all night or played music with the screen on for an 8+ hours a day.
So screen burn-in is a problem, but one night isn't going to significantly harm the phone, and typical users won't see any issue during the lifetime of the display.
Hya,
I'm new on here , so please be easy on me with my question  . I recently purchased Google nexus 7 tablet from some local website who asks the customers to report any defect with in one day, only then they will ship new product :crying: , So I'll get one day for checking . Since Google hasn't launched Google nexus 7 tablet here (India) officially, so I'm getting the imported one, website support peoples even ain't aware of how to get warranty if product gets turned in to black box .
I saw some q/a here and I found many peoples having problem with product (related hardware ones) . I'd be thankful if you guys could list some basic things to check pertaining to hardware of product to make sure everything is fine
Hi, I'm on my 5th replacement and everyone had a different fault!
First you want to check round the edge of the screen to make sure the glass is flush with the case and not raised up so you can push it down with your finger, If anywhere the problem is normally down the left side. (DON'T TRY TO REPAIR IT YOURSELF WITH THE SCREW FIX TUTORIALS!) In most cases the fix is just temporary and the problem returns. This is a defect!
The next thing you want to do is check for dead pixels & white light bleed out around the edge of the screen. This app is perfect for the job.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.ujacha.deadpixel
Next you want to check the speakers by cranking them up to 100% and play several video or audio files to check for crackling/distortion/popping.
It's well known that the speakers are very cheap but they should still be crystal clear with the volume at it's highest.
Now you want to check the touch screens response. There is an issue with the screen not responding after heavy processing/game play where the screen becomes unresponsive down one half of the screen and only locking/unlocking the screen solves the problem.
First I would advise hammering the N7 with a game that is Tegra 3 supported for example Dead Trigger or Shadow Gun to get it nice and hot if at any time the screen becomes unresponsive then you have the same issue.
To double check run this app, you should quite easily be able to detect all ten fingers on the screen at all times.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.the511plus.MultiTouchTester
The last thing I would check is the connectivity through Wi-Fi & Bluetooth, this is the least common fault as far as I know. Just check you have nice strong signals with no drop outs.
So after all that if you have managed to put a tick in all the boxes I reckon you have a sweet device!
I hope this helps you and any one else out there and that you have more luck than I had finally getting a perfect working N7.

Great question (although I don't know if it's a dupe). Thanks for all the info mr_tris. That sucks you're having so many issues. I haven't noticed anything wrong with mine since I got it yesterday, but I'll check all the things you mentioned when I have the tablet in front of me.

@mr_tris jeez!! 5 replacement means something and very horrible so to speak . I really appreciate help and advises you posted. I'll make sure to check them out .
The only problem I'll have if found any problem in device is that I'll have to wait another 20 days since the new product will be imported by website peoples for me to make replacement
One other thing to check: the gyro.
Does the screen rotate normally or do you have to turn the device so the screen is practically vertical (assuming you choose to unlock rotation via the notification panel).
If you are into gaming, try a driving game or something to make sure the cars don't veer left or right.
I had this trouble on my second one and have read of quite a few other people having the same problem.
The only real issue I've heard about is the screen raising above the bevel some. Yea this is a defect as the screws are too long and pushes the screen out. Returning it 50 times isn't going to fix it. Only by chance may you get one where the screw is slightly smaller (1mm). The solution is to make a little washer out of some plastic and put it under the screw. It doesn't need much to fix it. The cover pops off just like a regular battery cover and the screws are right there. If it is a problem for you, why NOT try to spend 2 min and just fix it yourself?
You wouldn't even notice unless someone pointed it out. You literally have to turn the N7 and look across the screen to even notice it. Hardly anything to freak out about.
Some people have blown their speakers already too. Most have been after a long session of movie watching or music. I suggest to not blow your speakers out (using at Max volume for extended periods) right out of the box. Let the speakers break in first. Honestly the speakers are so loud anyway that I normally have it at 50% volume Max. Probably not an issue either but its good usage practice.
I've also heard of one or two screens fritzing out with lines and fades. Probably nothing to concern yourself with.
I haven't heard of anything else but I guess it would always be best to check it out thoroughly.
I do recommend unlocking first thing because it wipes all data including storage and saves. I'm using EOS rom and its heavenly. Trinity kernel is also awesome because he tweaks the colors of the screen to pop more.

Most important things are:
Screen - check viewing angles and color reproduction in the dark. Best reference is to use a site like GSMARENA for high res photos and screen reviews.
Body - Look for cracks or scratches, especially around ports and the headphone jack.
Things to disregard:
Slow system - this is just something you will have to deal with in an android environment.
Warm after prolonged use - again, normal.

No I don't have money to burn lol but I just don't think its worth the stress of over examining for defects. If you look hard enough you will see that something isn't 100% straight or a tiny spec of plastic is sticking out or whatever and then it will stand out like a sore thumb once you've noticed it lol. Give it a glance over and if it looks good to you then enjoy your tablet.

Probably not the best type of thread but it's for anyone who has faced any issues or defects with Pixel XL. When I'm expected to fork out £819 for a top end of phone I don't really expect any types of defects.
Overall I'm quite pleased with the phone but I've noticed the pulse notification light is bit odd. Green colour is perfect but red or orange colours show as white and pink!!!
I'm sure that's not how it's supposed to be?
I've reported this to google who are looking into it and will get back to me.
Anyone else tested any features which aren't as expected or noticed any defects please let us know.

My Nexus 6p is showing signs of burn in on my screen, it's kinda annoying to see now it's very obvious on the status bar as I can see the WiFi, battery and time imprinted on my screen . I used the AMOLED burn in fixer used it overnight I'm not too sure if it worked or what not (I'll keep using it and see if it works) Is there any fixes that makes the ghosting go away on my phone or is it going to be stuck on there permanently?

Phone is a few years old, if you plan on using it awhile I would replace the screen/digitizer, fairly easy to do on your own. There is lots of diy videos out there. What I would prob do anyways. I use mine for my work phone. I haven't replaced the digitizer yet on this phone but I did do the battery once . If you do replace it, I would replace the battery while you have it apart. Only like 10 or 15 bucks for a new one.

I use mine for my work phone. I haven't replaced the digitizer yet on this phone but I did do the battery once . If you do replace it, I would replace the battery while you have it apart. Only like 10 or 15 bucks for a new one.

Yeah I already replaced my battery as it was shutting down around 30% which was pretty annoying. So you're saying that to fix the burn in, is to replace the whole screen? If its the way to be done to just get rid of the burn in then I'll probably consider doing it. Thanks :good:

I'm almost positive a new digitizer will start you off brand new as far as burn in. But I haven't done that on the 6p yet only the battery.

Thats true if its the only way to get rid of the burn ins then I'll may start looking for a new digitizer/ screen now then. But as I said Im using that burn in fixer app to see if that can cure the problem, I do it over night as the app says its best to leave the app running for 8 hours in order to fix the problem. I use my phone in in the day quite consistently.

Slow process on mine Nardow. I've been using that app for the past 2 - 3 days now and I can see a very small difference but I think its gonna take a while to get rid of it. Either to get rid of the whole burn in is either replace the screen or just keep using the tool to clear off the ghosting.
