front facing camera,anyone?

What are some of the apps that use front facing camera?
Gtalk does not use it?there is no y!messenger in the market either?
How do you guys use this?

gtalk works for me, but you could probably use fring for video chat

Google Talk uses the ffc just fine, in my experience.

how does one start the camera in talk?
I can see the camera icon against my name but I cannot seem init a video chat session. Am I missing something?

I tried Tango on my Viewsonic GTab and it FC'd something fierce. I assumed it had something to do with missing some of the phone components of Android and haven't tried it on the A500.
Anyone have a good experience with Tango?

if your contact has the camera icon on them it means they support it. And then you simply tap the video icon next to them and BAM, it works.
Works flawlessly and amazing too.

damn it, I have useless friends. No one with video capability!

GTalk does work, I have already had a video chat and it worked great. Have to play again but I think the rear cam works also.

Used GTalk with my netbook the other day and it worked great.

Sorry I made the suggestion for tango without actually testing it out. But to get tango to launch without closing you need to have the iconia in portrait with the rotation lock on. However since I do not have a mobile number for my tablet I don't think tango will work

Your friends probably just need to download the video chat add on for their PC or Mac http://www.google.com/chat/video
If you are trying to chat with someone that is using an android phone I believe video chat in google talk is only built in the newer versions of gingerbread

mate..it is already there in ur tablet....the name is "TALK"..
tested with my friend using HTC HD2....working fine....

ok, checked it out, how the heck do you get the video chat working? It only gives me the option to send IM's

Your counterpart needs to install video and audio plugin for Gtalk. Just by clicking option for video call (from PC) it will pop up an install screen .

Gtalk PC does support video call ?

so far only web gtalk (so from gmail...) support it
and of course Gtalk Android support

The other person has to be in gmail to do video and if your contacts once they have the plugin there will then be the little video icon I tested the other day with my brother from my iconia using talk to his Acer laptop using gmail chat.. we tried using the Google talk program on his laptop but video option wasn't showing up?

only problem i think is that i guess it records video @ 10 fps only..

With CM7 it doesn't work, with CM9 it's sooooo slow!
I can scroll down and up the notification bar three times and the record just shows one action...

working for me on cm7 rc1 but yeah it's quality is poor but i would say something is better than nothing

z-screen is slow

Alternative Apps for CM/AOSP?

Hey guys,
i'm currently pretty tired of LG Stock (mostly of the Calling delay bug..) and i tried some other rom and i'm gonna use CM.
So, since its a simple a clean rom i'm missing some apps/features, but i know there are alternatives, but i dont know about which ones are good, because i cant test them all.
- A 360 Panorama camera (360 camera? good enough?)
- SmartStay (Intelligent display)
- QuickRemote - or at least an remote app, i tried a lot of them but didnt find a good one yet
- A good video editor

Calling delay bug?
I had the same thing happen to me. i uninstalled the GMail update and that bug stopped.
go to googe play store. find gmail, uninstall. it will only uninstall recent update. done.
then uncheck auto update on gmail.

The main thing I would miss is the really nice AccuWeather widget. Not seen one that is as nice anywhere...

I'm using Chronos on the Nova Launcher... It's free as well and very nice

Wow, there are so many good alternatives, at least for the weather.

Have you tried the Samsung Remote app?
Its over on another thread here ported to be used on Lg G2

Anyone have a download link for that? I have reinstalled it on over dozen ROMs with titanium, but not an option here. I am assuming app.apk's can be installed here.
For some reason, Google doesn't make it available here on play store.

Thanks. The difficulty was finding a site that would not try to install a download app and also some very intrusive cookies (not unlike those that XDA tries every time I set them up on another computer).

The photo sphere feature it not just a 360 panoramic photo. It includes the sky and ground too.

Surround Shot is not installed by default/ stock. You have to get it from the Samsung/galaxy store. I did not see it on my phone you are talking about this right ? https://fs02.androidpit.info/userfi...axy-S5-camera-download-surround-shot-w782.jpg

CM 14.1 | NucleaRom | Google Cardboard

Hi there,
I'm using Google Cardboard quite a bit. In the latest NucleaRom (Nougat 7.1/CM 14.1) I have come across the following:
-- DPI is set to 420 via Nuclear Tweaks
-- in Google Cardboard, the view area is somehow scaled down to a fraction (full screen before, now it's about 1/4 of the screen) of what it used to be? => see as well the vid of somebody else with the same problem: http://youtu.be/UPJoNlolF0o
Anybody else had that problem and could fix it?

I had that same issue with cm14 and that seemed to do the trick, I hadn't tried cardboard yet so I didn't know about this issue and exactly the same has happened to me with Nuclear 7.1 . After using an app called vr calibration for cardboard and trying to calibrate it seemed that increasing screen to lens distance seemed to do the trick. Try it out and tell me how it works for you.
Edit: After editing the profile and trying it out with another app it is still the same so I guess it will stay like that whatsoever. We'll have to tell to Nuclear devs.

Well, in the mean time I went to https://vr.google.com/cardboard/viewerprofilegenerator/ and created my own 'viewer' by exaggerating the "Screen to lens distance" and the "Inter-lens distance". => Trial and Error

you want to use Google Chrome browser. Then, once called the above mentioned URL, you can "Save or Load Viewer Parameters". There you can paste following URL: http://google.com/cardboard/cfg?p=C...CAABIQgAASEIAAEhCWAE1KVwPPToICtcjPArXIzxQAGAA
Those are settings for the "Homido Mini" device (please keep in mind theyr'e counter compensating the screen resolution).
After pasting the settings URL, you need to click on the blue "Generate Profile" button. This will give you a DataMatix, that you need to scan via Cardboard as a new viewer (the same for Street View, btw.)
