USB to internal memory - Acer Iconia A500

I installed Astro File Manager and, I can now see the content of a usb drive. I can also rename and delete a file on the usb drive but I have not find a way to move or copy those files or photos to the internal memory of the A500 tab without using a computer. Is their a way that can be done?
Thanks for your support.

Yes there is. Long press on file, then edit, then copy. Then move up to the folder you want and long press, paste. There are also icons on top. Hope it works for you

[Q]Titanium backup: Transfers from internal memory to PC

Hi,
I am using TF honeycomb 3.1 rooted and latest version titanium backup and win7 64bit.
When I connect my TF to my PC, I can see titanium backup folder with all files in it, but for some reason I can not transfer the whole backup folder to my PC. It can only transfers 2 files.
So I look intensively in to it. I tried to use root explorer to zip the backup folder. But, I can not see my backup ziped file.
Someone having the same problem?
Thank
I have had this problem. When it happens do a few things. I reboot the tf , make sure usb debugging is off and try to get the tb bu copied as quickly after reboot as possible. YMMV
Try moving the backup folder to your external microsd card and physically moving it to the computer. It should allow you to copy the folder then.
Use adb pull command.

Able to download and install APK files?

Can you still download APK files amd install them on the SGT 10.1 even though it does not have a micro SD card? If so, how?
Yes, it still has got up to 32gb of internal memory.
Yes you can. Make sure you enable side loading of apps. Go to settings, applications then check unknown sources.
Now you can download apps and install them. use a file browser to find your downloaded apk and just run it.

How do I sideload thee? Let me count the ways ...
1. Dropbox.
2. Mount Tab as MTP device and copy-paste to internal memory.
3. FTP from remote server.
4. Mount network drive through SMB and copy-paste to internal memory.
5. Email apk file to myself through Gmail as attachment.
6. Bluetooth file transfer.
7. Download directly to Tab through internet browser.
8. ADB file push.
9. Copy from thumb drive using USB adapter.
There's probably a few more, but I think I made my point.
(For what it's worth, using a SD card to transfer files to a device reminds me of the good-old days of using floppy disks to "network" files around the office. Its basically the same thing. Used a lot of floppy disks recently?)
its surprisingly easy

If you use included 40pin to USB cable and attach to a computer, the tablet internal storage *should* show up as a drive. Not tried it myself.
Alternatively if you can download to tablet, you can use a file browser to find the /downloads folder and launch it to install.

USB drive is empty

Hi.
Rooted Nexus 7 with Stickmount and a 32gb USB drive.
Drive is mounted and recognized
sdcard/usbstorage/sdh1 folder is present in file structure
copied an mp4 file to that folder
es file and astro file mgrs dont see the file and call the folder empty
ideas?

Unmount your card then Reboot ur N7 and mount back its should work

With stick mount version 2 and android 4.2 you need to open the app that you want to use before you attach your USB stick! Read some of the stickmount threads!

If I want to use different apps with attached otg storage, I open the first app, mount storage, use app, unmount storage, close app, open other app, mount storage, then I can see it in the 2nd app.

The file structure in 4.2 is emulated, fused, and symlinked, so many of the directory paths aren't consistently visible in different file explorers.
The one that always works for me is /storage/shell/emulated/0/usbstorage/sdn1
Try it, and let me know if it solves your problem.
You guys are awesome. I kept the otg cable out of the port, loaded my video app, put in the cable and viola, my files came up and played fine.
THANKS!

External storage directory

I've connected a usb thumb drive via otg cable, but I can't find the directory for the thumb drive. I've installed ES File Explorer, but I still can't find it. I would really like to play my ROM files, but I can't find them.
Just to be clear androidcentral claims it works. I haven't had any success yet http://www.androidcentral.com/about-nexus-player-and-usb-support#comment-form
It seems it has some type of size limit restriction. If I only put a few rom on the flash drive, the usb thumb drive is accessible from ES File Explorer, but I have to copy and paste the rom files onto the Nexus Player's hard drive to access them in the emulators. I'm running out of space on this device, and I would like to be able to access my files via the usb directory instead of moving those files onto the Nexus Player.
Once we have root ,apps like stick mount will solve these problems...
This should be possible...
If someone could figure out how to manually create a readable shortcut that points to usb://whatever_your_usb_is_called and put that link into your home directory, this would solve the problem for most of this.
I used to be able to do this, but I forgot how I did it. Maybe I can connect my usb to my phone and create the shortcut there and just copy that over.

ES file Explorer

Hi
My SM-N9005 running Android 4.4.2 stock ROM got really sluggish so I connected it up to the laptop and transferred my images etc across to my extsd card, just drag and drop between int and ext storage, I didn't copy to laptop first. Now when I go in to ES file manager some of the folders are there but no images in the folders and I also transferred a few word docs that don't seem to be there. I know that you can't write files to the extsd card anymore but I thought you could read the files. Have I done something wrong?
