[OFFTOPIC] SGS2 is a total disappointment... "Important" functions NOT working...
I read about all the features of the phone, it all got me very excited but some things are not working...
First of all, it doesn't bring me beer when I use vlingo and say " get me beer"
Second of all, Crysis 2 is not running at all. Phone's not that fast..
Last point: I put my phone into airplane mode, threw it in the air.....
Worst transformer ever.....
The rest is working pretty damn fine, so its maybe not a total failure. What are you disappointed about?

I have not been blessed with a GS2 yet, still waiting. The only thing I could be disappointed about is: build quality/how it actually feels in (my) hands. Further the TouchWiz and Battery life are two things I am semi-worried, but you know TW can be replaced by custom launcher or ROM and Battery life should be decent with tweaks.

Build is better than it looks, but the same goes for the sgs1. Dropped mine once and nothing to see, wiped the grains off and no damage at all. For the sgs1 you could buy stronger backplates and the same will go for this phone, looking at its sales. Samsungs internal build quality is actually one of the best in the business so I wouldn't be to worried. Touchwiz 4 is quite nice. Huge improvement over tw3, still I ditched it within 2 days. Launcherpro all the way for me
It's so thin, i can barely see it, wait...
because the thing i am disappointed is, that we still not have it here in Germany.
We should get this Phone about the same time as UK, but forget it. We are still waiting for that. Most of the people are ordering the phone in UK or Austria because they have it already and not only that, they still get new charges.
I like this Forum and i would like to make some Tweaks on this phone too, but i don't even know when I can get it.

They ARE the best in the business. Look around, nothing comes even close. They manage to fit virtually everything in (more ram then anyone else, quality cpu, screen out of this world) light and this THIN -->

Other companies are feeling the pressure now. 4inc and over screens need lightness otherwise it just becomes a brick, but then they have to fit in all the top specs inside too and they don't have the tech yet to do that.

Now that I have sold my Nexus One. i was very sad immediantly just because the phone was sexy as hell and amazing speed. The college i got accepted to sends all incoming freshmen a iphone 3gs and are required to use it to keep in contact with professors.
Now that thats said i want to continue with whats the truth about the nexus.
1) i had a problem with the headphones along with alot of other people when listening to music threw your headphones that came with the nexus you would get a shock... for me it mostly happend when i was plugged into a computer
2) DUST...omg the dust i got under the corner of the screen was annoying the crap out of me. i couldnt get it sent back because i wanted to keep the engraving on the phone. and i didnt want to wait 2 weeks for them to send me my phone back.
3) the phones speed is AMAZING but i feel as if google hasnt completly utilized the speed and GPU yet. *if they can pull this off, things would be so much better than the iphone*
want to add other things about this phone *without being biased* ? go ahead lets see if we can get some good information in here for new android users

THe headphones that come with the N1 doesn't work well on other standard 3.5mm jacks because the pins are specifically designed for the N1. Apparently if you insert the headphones into your computer half way it should work like normal headphones.

There was exactly no reason for the OP as he just stated a few well-known issues that people can experience with this phone. Every device has a its own set of issues and the OP will now be fortunate enough to experience the many IPhone problems.

Your is a possessive term, where as you're is the conjugation of "you are". So in the future, make sure you check if your usage is right by replacing the term with "you are" and seeing if it makes sense to you.

The phone has a powerful processor and an impressive amount of RAM. I dont think it uses either one nearly to its potential (at least i hope not), which is kind of cool because, although the phone is smooth and fast, the performance ought to be able to be vastly improved with software updates. I like the phone a lot but i also think its fair and justified to expect a lot more from it down the road.
If anyone that knows about hardware can confidently tell me not to expect much more from the device please post that information so that i may sell this phone. thanks

I got mine the day it launched and I have no idea what people are talking about I havent had any problems with dust and really cant see how it could get under the screen, I keep mine in my pocket every day so Im sure it woulda happened by now if it could. Id also have to agree that the only thing the iphone has is the app store, once androids gets up there it will be a lot better because there's a lot more potential. Id already have to say that handcent, dolphin, and google voice are good examples of that because apple only lets you use their stuff and blocks something if they already have an option is pretty wacksauce in my opinion, why not let the people choose which they like the best, makes no sense to me. I don't really know what I didn't like about it. It felt truly like it wasn't the BEST smartphone experience I could have had. Everything just felt, weird? Slow? Uncoordinated? I don't know. I'm not sure what you mean by slow and uncoordinated. Please elaborate. I have never seen a phone as quick and responsive as the N1. If you're a hardcore blackberry fan they you probably wouldn't like the N1 anyway.

I bought the razr when it first came out and it was 600.00 on a contract. I had it two days, dropped it, and it landed on the corner hinge. The area that cracked is so thin that the screen came unattached and all i had was a keypad and speakerphone to make calls on. I had to send it back to motorola because at&t wouldn't insure it, and they lost it. I got it back 3 months later locked, and they wouldn't send me a code so I had to pay for one.
Never buy motorola without a swap plan in place, they lunch too hard on getting things done.

Never buy a motorola phone regardless. They're terrible designers.
The nexus definitely feels a little unstable in many respects. But with its hardware and being presumably on the top of Google's mobile priorit list, this phone has more potential than any other phone out there. Its almost as smooth as the iPhone with the potential to put the iPhone to shame. Just gotta be patient and let google iron out the software. This baby's still a baby!

Please explain how it's unstable. Are you rooted and running a custom ROM? I'm totally stock and my phone's been rock solid stable. A huge contrast with my rooted G1 with various custom ROMs.

Their phones really are quite ugly, though, if we're talking about design rather than build quality (which the dust issue qualifies as).
I got my Nexus One, and while I expected it to be good.. I did not expect this much! Literally the best phone I have ever had in my 14 year old life (After previously having G1s, MyTouch's, etc.) It feels so smooth, its so fluid.. I love everything about it! Google, I wuv you guys..
Now, as I've said before, a better phone better not come out by Xmas.. don't wanna sell this thing so soon ^.~

My 14-year old had one for a day. She couldn't do without a physical keyboard so we're waiting until an android handset comes out with one. She loved everything else and, despite the lack of a keyboard, my Nexus One is the best phone I've ever had. I come from Windows Mobile.

It takes a while to get used to the on-screen keyboard. I know from experience, I came from a G1.
After a few months, I still can't type as fast as I did with the G1 keyboard, but it beats having to turn the phone sideways and flip out the keyboard just to type a few letters in some app. The convenience of the big screen and using the on-screen portrait keyboard without having to turn the phone sideways outweigh the gained typing speed on my G1.
your lucky dude..14 years old with a nexus...anyway I love this phone..coming from a touch pro 2..I don't miss that phone one bit..not even the keyboard..well maybe a little lol but still this phone is great and so is swype.
Speaking of typing on a virtual keyboard...have you seen the video of a guy typing 83 wpm on a virtual keyboard? Albeit, it's not a N1...impressive non-the-less.

I just switched from touch pro 2 and let me tell you... There is no comparison. I had TP2 for a year and almost everytime I had to do something fast, look something up or do somehing more complicated than calling - it would fail me. It led to a constant feeling of doubt and being unsure if it will just freeze when I need it the most.
N1 is freaking fast. Everything on it JUST WORKS. There is no guessing, like on TP2 - "omg I hope this launches.. I hope I don't have to soft reset.." - everything is integrated, every transition happens in a snap, every task you throw at it is handled immediatly and with style. It's a reliable life partner.
If you are undecided like I was a week ago about switching to N1, do it - you'll wish u've done it sooner.

It looks almost black & blue already.
Its far better than the TP2 but it reboots by itself alot. I don't know why. I do understand you, coming form that phone also. But its not perfect yet.

My n1 never random reboots.....Ever since JIT got throw out the window, no reboots....I had almost 12 days uptime once....

Yes, I was pretty undecided up until now. I have a SE X1 and really, I know what you're talking about when you mention "doubt". I just hate the thing and WM makes it a nightmare. When I got my X1 I was thinking of keeping the phone for a long time, I wasn't expecting a $900 phone to turn out to be complete crap both hardware wise (flimsy, crappy keyboard, crappy paint, etc.) and software wise (WM!!!). Hopefully, I can use the N1 for a longer time with the updates and all...
I guess I'll be getting it now for sure, the only thing left to decide is whether or not it's worth it to wait the extra time to have it engraved...ha!

Actually I ordered mine engraved and it shipped the same day. Suppose to be delivered today .

I also came from a TP2 and I don't miss it or windows mobile at all. The laggy feel to if it was on for a day with no soft reset. Glad to see I wasn't the only one who made the switch.
And to fill that final need.......
go and download dildroid just google it. Now your phone can handle anything, no really, I mean anything!

Dude, be VERY careful about the engraving.
Read the warranty policy - if you engrave it, it becomes a non-refundable phone that can only be sent in for repairs, if needed. Also, think if you'll want to sell it in a year or two.. nobody wants your "My name is John and I have a 12" tool" engraving.
Not that it's a bad service, just make sure you consider that.

I'm thinking that if I do want some "engraving" on it, I could get away with a transparent acid-sticker of a sort.. at least that I can remove and sell/return if need arises.
Although only death can separate me form my N1 at this point.
If Adobe would hurry and release the fully gpu accelerated flash player for this phone, I'd give it a 10 out of 10.
Seriously! The ipad / iphone guys are crying so hard about wanting html 5 everywhere because they're not allowed to have flash.. I worry that Adobe's missed the boat on this one.
Not a single developer leaking the gpu flash 10 player for android either..
Right, bad new for me... My MD has decided today that everyone has to have a BB 9900, so my S2 which was going to be with me tomorrow is no more... To say I'm upset and pissed off would be an understatement, but alas, nothing I can do about it...
So if I hang around here beyond now it would be seen as a bit weird and creepy, so it's goodbye all... I won't miss the repetitive posts and questions, but I will miss the great humour and pen craft...

New BB arrived today, still hasnt been configured but I had a quick play...
Design is the usual, but back to the original width so larger than the recent ones... It is the thinnest one ever though... Feels well built and looks pretty smart... Keyboard does feel like the best BB one yet, but the keys above them are shiny so show fingerprints... Back is weird if you ask me... The battery cover is basically clear plastic/glass over a textured surface, again finger prints, but different I suppose...
Now then, OS7... What can I say? Same'ol'same old...As crap as ever but with a brand new lick of paint... Touchscreen works, but I just thought, what's the point really...

Anyway, I'd like to introduce you all to a great new charity... It's called the 'Get Caspa an S2 as his work decided to get him a BB 9900 at the last minute Fund', a great cause as he shouldn't have to suffer in this way... I'm sure you'll agree...
Rest assured, 100% of donations will go to the fund and remember, YOU can make a real difference in Caspa's life...

Don't you have a mobile of your own mate or do you just rely on your job to provide you with a phone?You can get the GS2 for free on contract in UK if you cant afford to purchase it outright although i always recommend purchasing outright and avoid long contracts.
Even if i had a job that provided a phone id still ensure i had my own phone and it wouldn't be a bloody iPhone or Blackberry either.
Just an observation
