Hello people
I've just come into possession of an 02 branded HTC Universal, which has been unlocked.
Everything works fine except for 3G data/internet. The phone can find a 3G (UMTS) network, but it can't use it for any kind of data.
I have a web'n'walk (3G) tariff, and I've tested my SIM card in a T-mobile phone and 3G works fine. So tariff and SIM are fine.
The problem must be with the phone. T mobile say it's not their handset so they can't help - so I'm depending on you lot!
Are there some settings I need to change to make this work on Tmobile's network? There's GPRS settings, modem connection settings etc. Any of those could be the culprit. I've tried settnig up a modem connection with general.t-mobile.uk, without putting in any username, password or domain, and that doesn't work.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Sharif
yeah u need to input the settings
goto connections and add new modem connection and type in 'T-mobile Internet'
then click next and in the access point type in 'general.t-mobile.uk'
then the next page your on to the username password settings where use the following
username: t-mobile
password: one2one
Do you know the 3 uk settings?
I have the same problem but i'm now on the 3 network.
http://www.europe.htc.com/support/software/htcp3600.html
use the program at the bottom of the page "network settings wizard" sure its not for the universal but it works. I used it to setup my three settings.
Does anyone have any experiance in using P3600 in USA with T-Mobile? In particular, I am having hard time getting to Internet and receiving MMS messages.
Because of the specifics of the USA cell and PDA market, getting a PDA working with a service provider (if you don't buy it from the service provider itself) can be tough. I have set up my Trinity to connect to EDGE, it shows the "E" on the top of the bars, but it still has a hard time browsing the Internet. There is not much help offered on their website, so I was hoping may be someone has had an experience setting it for T-Mobile.
Any help would be appreciated.

you'll probably have to call T-Mobile and get their MMS and internet settings, or it might be somewhere on their website.
I have set it according to their instructions here: http://support.t-mobile.com/knowbase/root/public/tm21625.htm?
That shows my phone connected to EDGE by I am still not able to access the Internet.
I've just spent a week in the USA with my Orange M700 - everything worked fine, probably gonna have some horrible roaming bills though as it's still on the original orange account
I'm in the US on T-Mobile, no problem with Internet. The only thing I had to do was enter the server address -- internet2.voicestream.com, and all works.
MMS has been a bit more trying. I do get inbound notifications of MMS coming in, but haven't played around with it enough to get it working. Then again, I don't use MMS so it hasn't been a pressing issue. I'll play with it tomorrow and see what I get.
dada21,
Connecting to internet2.voicestream.com helped! Thank you.
On T-Mobile website they were suggesting connecting to wap.voicestream.com and using a proxy server. But once I took out the proxy server and used the server you suggested it worked fine.
With the MMS messages- yes, I get only the inbound notifications too. Don't get the actual message.
Glad internet2 worked for you.
Getting MMS working was a *****. Here's what I did:
I set up a new connection under "Work" to wap.voicestream.com
Under Messaging, MMS, settings:
Gateway: 216.155.165.50
Port: 9201
Server address: http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
Connect via: Work
Sending size limitation: 248K
WAP version: WAP 1.2
I received MMS perfectly but didn't test sending yet.
Let us know how it works for you.
Background - I just bought a used 700wx from a friend and had it activated on my Cell provider, Sasktel, in SK, Canada. He had it on an expensive data plan and was tired of paying for this. A friend of a friend works for them and just transferred my account to this one from my previous phone, a Samsung A920 with Wap browsing. Sasktel provides their services using CDMA.
I would like to set up a WAP connection using this phone but am unable to find any connection software for this. The only connection I seem to be able to set up in system/connections are the TCPIP connections. I have the gateway IP address and port and my friends friend at Sasktel says that once I dial in with a wap connection, the authentication will automatically happen.
I have done some searching and seem to find that GSM phones have a GPRS setting that meets the requirements for a WAP connection ie; just the gateway and ports information.
Would anyone have any info that could help or point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Carl
I don't think Treo will support WAP, the method of login is a bit different and not known by many people
OK So I have the T-Mobile Wing, I had it unlocked and am going with Cincinnati Bell now because they have an Unlimited EVERYTHING plan for 60 a month. So Ive unlocked the network and everything works fine except WAP Internet. It connects to get my GMAIL ok. But when I attempt to load IE and a website. It says cannot find page. Here is the WAP setup i used. I know the Wing isnt the p5500 but its similar and the settings are the same throughout every phone. Anyone able to help me? Cincinnati bell tried to tell me my phone was incompatable with their network, but then the wanted to sell me a phone lol. Like I said EVERYTHING works except WAP Internet......
If you have unlimited internet access, you do not need to set the WAP which routes all data through a proxy.
I had to setup a WAP modem on the herald though. it wouldnt just connect. so i enter the proxy cincy bell gives. it all connects. but wont load a webpage
I've got an unlocked AT&T Tilt running Ultimate X V6 rom.
I'm in lowgar afghanistan and I'm trying to configure my phone to connect to their access point. I called them up and they gave me the following information...
APN: internet.mtn.com.af
User: wap
Pass: wap
number: *99***1#
ip 192.168.4.145
I've setup two separate connections (one using the APN name via gprs and one using the dial in number via cellular line) neither one seems to work.
I don't know what to do with the ip... I'm thinking it's a proxy for their internal wap sites but who knows...
I've disabled HSPDA. When I try to connect to the APN I get a message that there is no modem on the line. when I connect to the number I get a message that it cannot connect for an unknown reason.
Does anyone here have working settings for MTN afghan? Or know what I need to do to make this work?
Areeba
Don't use the username or password. All you need to program is the APN and proxy. I am not sure how familiar you are with Windows Mobile, but plugging in those two will take you where you want to go. Have been using Areeba internet on my unlocked T-Mobile Wing for 3 months and all is well.
RE: MTN Afghanistan
I am using MTN Areeba with Nokia 95 8GB,
I got settings from Network and it works fine.
Here is the more detail info about Setting up MTN Areeba Manually and other manual.
