I have a Verizon Droid X that I bought to hook up to Alltel's network, and have voice and text no problem. I'm using a thread on howardforums but am unable to linke to it...new user and all...Google "Droid X on Alltel" to see what I'm trying to do.
It seems everyone else can get data but I'm unable to. QPST will not save the settings not matter what I do. CDMA Workshop is out of my budget range and QXDM makes my mind spin. Can anyone offer any help?
On a side note, I have a friend who owns an Alltel authorized reseller store. I can put my hands on an official Milestone X to pull whatever I need to accomplish this, or anything else the community may want to get their hands on. Would it be helpful for me to pull the Radio, APN, SPF, ROM, etc from the Milestone X and flash to the my Droid X?
spf
I would be interested in the spf for the milestone x if you can get it thanks
spf

It would be absolutely awesome if you could grab an SBF. I threw a Verizon SBF on it without thinking about it about 2 months ago and Moto has been screwing around with it ever since. First they threw a generic on it, then threw Verizon back on it. Genius!
sbf
oh your right its sbf but iether way i could really use the file i have no data because im running the verizon sbf with my milestone x on the alltel network.

Good, I'm not the only idiot (good natured) who threw on the wrong sbf.
Bumping an old thread because I have a friend that's selling his VZW Droid X & i'd like to know if it'd work on Alltel with no issues.

The Bravo is Bricked! I rooted it, got board, tried to install custom ROM through a Droid method (REALLY STUPID OF ME!!), and now my phone is stuck in boot loops. It goes into recovery and all, bootloader too, so I fugured I could just flash an sbf with RSD and get it back running again. The only problem is I can't find an sbf file for this phone ANYWHERE and it's driving me crazy!! So if anyone has any information on where you could find an sbf file for this phone or when it would maybe be available I would love it
Thanks
Unfortunately,
Since AT&T is the only carrier that has this phone, you will have to wait until an upgrade is released from AT&T
And it would have to be a major update such as 2.1 -> 2.2 where the SBF is available.
You could always try calling AT&T and see what they can do for you in terms of warranty....long shot
So, no?
Come on, I have got 400 viewers of this thread, nobody has any ideas?
Yea dude I have been wating for the same thing. I have been pretty hesitant to do any major modding to my bravo until I know I can get it back from the grave should I do anything to totally mess it up. Is there no way to get what we need untill an update is released for the phone. I am pretty new to android having previously being a jailbroken Iphone user for years, but is there no way to get what we need from the bravo somewhere in its file system. Like I said i am still learning the different aspects of modding android so if anyone does know a solution, I'm all ears. Thanks.
Haha
Yea, got a little to crazy with it. It's because I realized it's potential, and noticed at had roughly the same specs as the Droid X, not thinking I ran the Bootstrap thing that allows custom recovery, so I could use an awesome custom rom, and it died. I mean I could completely recover it, it goes to the bootloader and the recovery, but hey I think were in luck, 2.2 for this things coming 1st Q 2011, and it'l be floating around somewhere, someone will grab it.
Awesome news. thanks for the heads up.
hey, where did you hear that it was getting updated to 2.2 in Q1? I can't find any news about that on the web, although it'd make me really happy...
I feel bravo is the loneliest phone in the world.
I also haven't seen anything about a 2.2 upgrade. Checked the Motorola upgrade site and they don't show anything in any quarter of any year regarding upgrading to 2.2. Could be a pipe dream.
Have you tried Super One Click or z4root to see if you can recover your system.
may be because the Motoglam (similar if not almost identical to the Bravo) is getting an upgrade in Asia where someone thought that the Bravo is getting the upgrade... I hope it does, would be nice for it to happen...

It's not similar at all.
Motoglam -> TI OMAP3430 (500 Mhz)
Bravo -> TI OMAP3610 (800 Mhz)
And similar doesn't mean that much, the Defy is 99% identical with only the addition of a flash and a search button on the face plate, but some of the things that can be done with modifying the defy can't be done (yet) on the Bravo.
Now the other major difference in he Defy and Bravo is that the Defy is is a non US phone, looks like mostly EU.
From what I can see here http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-EN/Android_Products/Software_Update_Landing_Page?vgnextoid=69fd5fc943dc0210VgnVCM1000008806b00aRCRD so far there are no plans for updates.
2.2 sbf..
ay killa...don't know if you knew this or not but there's a 2.2 SBF out now through Bandroidx. Works straight through Bootloader and RSD. Pretty automatic. Flash is sweet too.
Does anyone know if the Moto xoom will be flashable to boost mobile or metro or cricket like how the samsung tab is
Great question. I don't know the answer but the question is can any Verizon 3G work on Sprint/Metro(same company). You don't want Cricket. My quick look makes me think the odd's aren't great. But I think the EVO was fully ported to MetroPCS.. so maybe.
I don't think a verizon phone can work on sprint and vice versa. If metro works on sprints networks then a sprint phone could be flashed to work on it. It has to do with the wireless technology in the device. Plus, even if it was the same, I doubt sprint would activate it.
Sent from my EVO using XDA App
I doubt it honestly
My research showed that in some markets Metro has a program in place for reprogramming Sprint and Verizon phones for use on their network. However, I suspect they won't do it for a product like the XOOM.
I hope that someone figures it out. I am partially hopeful, I just bought a 11,000mAh battery for my EVO so that I can tether for hours at a time. Testing it right now with everything turned on, streaming tversity video to the phone for hours and barely drained the external 30%.
I'm honestly fairly ignorant on the matter so if I sound stupid give me a pass..
But..
If the hardware could do it, isn't it 'just' a matter of which 'radio firmware' is being used? (with regards to porting to a different carrier)
Motorola Xoom
Hey everyone, hows it going. First I would like to thank everyone here for all your hard work on these new android devices and helping people like me figure out problems to how to get these devices working.
I just got back from the store where I picked up the new motorola xoom. I've noticed that its on verizons service, but would like to know if anyone can point me to the proper direction as to how I can get this device working on crickets network.
I have a droid x, droid 3 all working on cricket data, mms and all working. next task is to get this xoom working on crickets data... any idea's as to where I can start off...
I'm not finding any informaiton about this device at all for flashing. I found someone who claims that they can root there xoom, ... its a start, but not really wanting to do that without consulting the professionals first.
please note that this is not my first go around with custom roms or rooted gingerbread roms. also please note that I'm aware this rom is the hunnycomb rom.
any help is much appreciated .... sorry about the spelling and thanks for all your help in advanced.

If by the new Xoom you mean the XYboard, it is not yet rootable. The original Xoom is rootable and has a number of awesome roms and overclocking kernels. Take a look around the forum and you will see many wonderful things. I'm sorry that I can't help you with getting your Xoom to run on the cricket network...

I must have the original then, I just got finished rooting the xoom. I do have a Sim slot that has a clear card in in, just in front of the microSD slot that says "replace with 4G card after system update"
So seeing as how I got this tablet rooted.... lets see if I can get it working with data, .... any help is appreciated
I've been searching Google and XDA both but can't even find anyone else ASKING about this let alone doing it. I had a Sprint Touch Pro once that I got working on Verizon using instructions I found on XDA.... would I be able to do the same with the Shift? The only keyboard android device we have is the Droid 1/2/3 and I can't stand those phones. The Shift is just about perfect but I'm not leaving Verizon anytime soon....
so, can the Shift be modified to run on Verizon? A coworker said it could be hacked to run on Boost Mobile, would the same principles apply?
From my understanding its near impossible to activate a sprint phone on verizon without knowing someone on the inside.... I could be wrong though. I know Verizon would need to add the ESN to their database.
Sent from my CyanoSpeedy
well, I can say you definitely don't need to "know anyone on the inside". When I activated the Sprint Touch Pro on Verizon, it was just me and the instructions I found on XDA. I don't remember all the steps, I had to use a program via my laptop to change pst settings, and I THINK I had to flash the Verizon ROM? That would probably be the road block to getting the shift onto Verizon getting the ESN into the Verizon system was as simple as activating via *228. I know I didn't have to actually speak with anyone...
Like I said, I could be wrong. Just my .02. Hopefully you can becsuae my shift is 10 times better than my dads droid 2.

*bump* anyone? no one? not something that can be done thru epst?

Can you please share the bootanimation? THX
Yeah, same phone but with some extra hardware like the "Gyroscope" and plenty of bloatware
