Hey guys ordered my GS2 today just awaiting delivery. Im coming from a rooted DHD im just wondering what everyones thots are on rooting the galaxy?

from what it looks like there are many differing ways, one of the easier methods looks like flashing cf-root through Odin...

Use this, it's the easiest thing ever. On the other hand you can just flash a rooted rom like Cognition using Odin since it's already pre-rooted.
Go to Android Dev. in SGS II and look for Cognition rom 1.15.
Best rom out there.

Pg06IMG.ZIP unrooted me and I had to reroot so that's not what I'm looking for....I am looking for a stock ROM that doesn't unroot me like pcausey77 said

Stock IS UNROOTED and if you're looking for a rooted version of 2.2 or 2.3.3 go back to the main thread list and get the toolkit

maybe if you would read the thread you can see where pcausey77 said I needed a ROOTED STOCK ROM and Im new to all this so there is no need to act like that....and btw stock isn't unrooted when you first root your running stock...

Yes dr.ketan its LR8.
yes i have rooted my phone but it has the stock rom and kernel thats why i was able to get the update over the air. If u are already on custom rom then u should download the stock rom from dr.ketans rom page and flash it with clockworkmod recovery.

Stock ROM need to flash using Odin (PC/Mobile), it can't be flash with CWM.
Anyway LR8 is pack with new launcher and feature like LRQ or it having same old launcher?

Tw is the same. Popup play is added and signature unlock. The stock keyboard layout is slightly changed with a new button added for attatchments. The touch button at the right has a little different layout. Besides that everything is the same. Battery life is slightly decreased. I dont know if its coz my phone is 6 month old and battery is aged.

Cwm supports zip only, fundamentally its not possible.

Thanks. I just used a few custom roma, like alba, criskelo ,cm9 and ics stunner. Since official ics came out i am using it. Dr.ketan i am unable to install cwm since 4.0.4. I have the cwm rom manager but itals not installing the cwm.

CWM manager won't work on Note.
You need to flash custom kernel to get CWM
Hydracore and speedmod are known custom kernel for ICS

Yes you can root it, use cf-autoroot and then install a custom recovery so you can install the kernel you want to use.

For you to get the new update, you atleast need to be on stock rooted with no mods whats so ever and have stock recovery. And you can get update but if you have custom recovery its aborts it

Doubts about KNOX and ROOT

Hi all.
1st if all, i want to know whether i can remove this KNOX from my GT-I9500. I got it when i updated to 4.3.
I haven't rooted my phone and I'm using the custom rom.
I've heard that installing KNOX takes away my freedom to root my GS4.
Please help.

But it only works with 4.2.2

Hi.
It's impossible to downgrade if u are on 4.3 firmware (MJ5 version) plus the new bootloader.

What do i do then? I want to download the Omega rom and do the s tweaks to maxx out my battery life.

I'm afraid you're stuck with it, mate.
Wait for indie to update his new version.
U may want to try other ROMs that's available on I9500.
