Well I just got my "Airave" (totally free, no monthly fee), b/c I had poor signals at home & "was" getting D/L speeds around 50-200kbps with U/L speeds around 30-120kbps, but now with the "Airave", I'm blazing fast, & can probably go faster with some tweaking, but anyways, here are my new speeds results from the app "Speed Test".
SO LETS SEE THOSE HTC HERO CDMA 3G SPEEDS!
oh, & I have full bars all the time now, w/ signal around -34dbm!
nobody, just want to see comparison HERO 3G speeds with the "speed test" app from market
That is really fast!!! I've never gotten over ~100 kB/s, or ~800 kb/s, even in downtown Chicago...
My service straight sucks on base. I've been prl'in between Verizon and Sprint to get acceptable download speeds. So half month V, half month S.
holy cow dude. lol. Yeah i've never gotten what i would expect 3G speeds to be. I'm usually around 60d/25u.
What kind of tweaks are you guys running, if any?
no tweaks prl 01337 and an older varzion radio.

None. Just the latest prl. But here's what I'm gonna do. Reading what you wrote, I'm gonna see if I can get one of those devices you mentioned.
I'm gonna try at dinner chow. Wish me luck!!
I'm in a known bad area for sprint near an airport, so not that many towers to speak of. Just ran 351kbps download and 56kbps upload. Pretty sad. Running the newest prl and just ran a ruu last week to get the newest pri but it didn't seem to help much.
How exactly do the Airaves work? Do they connect to your home's high-speed internet connection?

Yes. IIRC they connect between your modem and router so they can prioritize cellular traffic.

Here is the sprint webpage all about it. http://www.sprintenterprise.com/airave/tellMeMore.html
Just got off the phone with sprint. They're sending one my way. Hooah!!!!!
here's mine:
ignore the red and blue boxed ones...those where from when I tried out kifno's tweak
The ones from April 21-28 are wireless speeds ~30 min north of Chicago
May 2 is just south of the heart of NYC - Carroll Gardens
If you want OP i can take another test in Pheonix next week
Sent from my Android using Tapatalk
i officially hate u lol 256kb/s.. im lucky to get 140 lmao
no tweaks really, im running an old outdated knifo script, that imo & from testing works better than his new ones, but yes call sprint, & complain about poor signal (dont mention 3g), dropped calls or static in calls, you have to go outside to get a decent signal, & even then you still get dropped calls, & request an airave for free (mention that you have a friend that got one for free b/c "they" were having the same issues) & 90% of the time Sprint will send you one for free & may even wave the $5 monthly fee, just complain that youve been paying for a service that you are not getting @ 100%.
yes it connects to your internet, but it doesnt effect it at all, im still getting 20Mbps dl, & ~3Mbps ul on my internet.
they are just offering "fiber optic" internet now where im at, w/ speeds between 10Gbps-80Gbps, yes gigabites, now thats fast

I have noticed I get MUCH faster while USB tethered, and when I have everything killed on the phone. SO all it's doing is routing over WiMax and the lapotp/computer is doing most of the work makes sense though.. it's having to do less work so the CPU can focus on routing WiMax packets only.
Anyway, I was doing some updates over ubuntu's update manager tethered and I hit 12.7Mbps down!
XDA scales down the pictures so much I have a zoomed up pick too of the network metrics
Guess I should mention I am running BBv0.3 (Hope pete comes back soon and fixes v4 or even drops froyo v5 on us)
And I have used Titanium Backup to pull nearly all htc sense stuff off that ROM as well as removing anything I didn't want running in the background.

Very nice! Though painfully slow compared to the 300+Mbps I'm used to on my LAN.

Actually those tests were run, and I am currently sitting on the basement level of a large concrete government-style building. Granted I have a tower about 2 blocks from where I work though, still I haven't seen all these "penetration" issues people complain about with WiMax. Houston has some strong signals though.
I've actually started noticing 4G is a LOT better after the update, but it has always been very good here in Boston, even though it's not even officially launched yet.I have read somewhere that new markets have newer equipment, and Sprint is literally adding WiMAX base stations to all sprint and nextel towers. It will only get better with time.

They actually cap it for some reason. I think it is faster than the test showed because I can upload things via FTP fairly quickly.

It's your standard LAN. It's just the second-fastest in the country. Top speeds around 2Gbps, but unfortunately my router isn't even fast enough for it, and I didn't want to shell out for one!

Well those numbers were from the JSC area, and I can get 4-6Mbps where I live in West U. The "signal" strength is kinda pointless IMO because it's more your connection to the tower than your bandwidth to the internet. I have noticed better bandwidths with 1-2 bars than with full 4 bars a lot of times
well i live in an area saturated in 4g well everywhere in town but where i live...sigh
anyways los from an antenna and nothing near your speeds, and like i said my small town is saturated by 4g i can literally walk 3 streats down and 4g kicks in
I wanted to test out the wireless tether speeds with the WiMax update not the Radio update.
I got happy results for me inside my home.

And to be fair that 12.7Mbps was a peak... not sustained here is my highest "sustained" test. It seems like after a few second peak of anywhere from 10-13Mbps I get throttled back to around 9-10 max sustained. Still though very impressive for a freaking cell phone internet connection! Ha.
I hardly get 1 mbps on 4g in galeria area. I find it very spoty in Houston.

I think some people have come to expect too much from WiMax. I have heard complaints about it not getting more than 3Mb/s yet they don't complain about the 900kb/s they get otherwise with 3G - its more than triple yet they want more.
I am happy to get sustained 3Mb/s speeds wirelessly anywhere. Hell 2Mb/s sustained is better than any Wifi at Starbucks or places that offer free Wifi. Most of them let you ride off their T1 line. Can we say 1.5Mb/s shared to everyone!
I am very happy to get the speeds that I do. It's SOOOOO much better now with the update. I am interested to see where I got the 5Mb/s before the update to see what it will give me now. It's a local starbucks that I frequent. I am curious.
Great speeds by the way!

As good as it is, 2.5-3 mbps is equivalent to AT&T 3G speeds, that's why people complain.
You can say their network sucks, but it's bigger than Sprint's 4G at the moment
No 4G for me here, and I would be happy with 3 mbps sustained, but I wouldn't call expecting more than that unreasonable for 4G. It should (and will, eventually) handily beat other existing 3G networks. Looks like it has already started according to the OPs results.

LOL wow that's pretty bad. But that's not the phone's fault. There are many factors in play that can slow down your connection.. Network Capacity, Bandwidth, Signal strength, etc.
It's still pretty bad though. Try again later, things should improve.

i live in allendale michigan during the school year and the past month or so my speeds have been just like this. my guess would be from an increase in network traffic from all the new evo's. ill do a test right now at 11 pm, will probably be much faster than i normally get nowadays. its damn ridiculous, before the evo i used to get 1.5 mbps download all the time.
IN BOTH TEST I HAVE 4-5 BARS. (i can see the cell towers out my back door)
test 1
download 357 kbps
upload 127 kbps
ping 477 ms
test 2
download 95 kbps
upload 169 kbps
ping 829
these are horrible, data is pretty much unusable at these speeds.
edit: btw i do live in a college town (grand valley state university) so there are a lot of cell phone users.
Suck it up! Data speeds at my apartment are TERRIBLE even though I've got fantastic service. I've got tons of these extremely slow data tests.
It's been a while since I was testing - I've given up. I just steal the neighbor's wifi for my phone now.
BTW, I'm like 45 mins west of you, hockey4life. I'm in Muskegon. It's only bad right near my apt. though :/ It's fine all the rest of the time around town here.
1.27mbit up HAH I'd love to see that. The only two which are moderately fast on my speedtest list are when I was trying out 4G in Grand Rapids!

Have any of you tried using real signal from the market? Just because the phone shows you signal bars, it doesn't necessarily mean that you have good signal for data. Real signal will show you your actual signal strength as it relates to both voice and data service.

no, but in my case the tower is right outside my house so it definitly should be high.
also, its not just in my house where its bad. it is everywhere in this area. the only time i get good good data speeds is far from area. i made a report and they said they would send a technician to look at the tower but doubt they actually will. if im stuck like this for the rest of this year im gonna flip.

Looks like quite the improvement to the speeds that I get at my house in Idaho.
But...I get 4G in most places that I'm at + I use android tether all the time, even at school sometimes. I try not to complain about Sprint's ****ty 3G too much, especially since the price is right.
Getting awful 3G speeds in Kalamazoo, MI as of late.. i'm lucky if its above 100KB down - upstream seems a little slow but closer to normal..
Hmm.. Whats the deal?
I think those 3g speeds are great compaired to my 150kb down and 110kb up in my house.
There's 4g about 15 ft away, but unusable 3g inside.
do any of you michiganders have any improvements? how about anyone else? im starting to wonder if things are gonna stay like this, i cant take these 2g (or 1g) speeds. there is essentially no reason for me to be paying data right now cause the only time i can use my phone pretty much is when im on wifi. if i was a new customer i definitely be using my 30 days right about now and switching carriers.
for the past few years ive been a sprint advocate with their good data coverage, good speeds, and good pricing but this is just horrible.
Though T-mobile boasts a significant 4g area, there are still many areas that do not even support 3g. Such as mine in the North Florida, Pensacola area. I knew before I signed up that the coverage said it was Mobile web, clearly the lower of the 3 options in my area but I wasn't prepared for that suckfest this is. Running speed tests I average about 0.05mbps down speeds and 0.11 up speeds via speedtest.net's app. The old 56K modems were 0.05mbps, so effectively I have a 56K connection speed. Why is this so bad when there are areas that are sporting upwards of 10mbps? And as far as the throttling over 5gbs, I don't seem to use more than 1gb, and that's pressing it, most of the time I use my home wireless but I couldn't imagine this speed being throttled if I cross that cap, what the hell would they dock me down to? A 14.4 connection?
Many people will claim T-Mobile's EDGE network sucks. Perhaps this is true, but I think it has more to do with the G2's radio.
I get similar edge speeds on my G2 as my old G1 or Dash (when i force the G2 to 2g only speeds) around 200-300kb/s......if you CONSISTANTLY get .05Mb/s or less, you can call t-mobile technical and report abnormal speeds at your address....have them create a work order.....I live in a 4G 'hole' that should be covered, and just had t-mobile create a work order (i have a work order number).....if my speeds don't improve in the next week, I will follow up.....I am only getting 1 Mb/sec when I should get many times that (and I do, except here at my home.....and the coverage map claims 4G speeds at this address)
Those speeds sound about right for Edge. That's what I get whenever I get stuck with that network.

I would say they are cosistently .05mbps, I'm a bit concerned about talking to anyone at tmobile about anything after my visit to get screen protectors and absently asked if they had been getting a lot of people returning g2s because of the hinges. The sales rep said "no not that I know of but you're supposed to be getting an ota to fix messaging problems" and clearly this guy was a robot with no basic conversation skills because I said "I don't see what a software fix has anything to do with a hardware issue" and his response was "of course but the ota also allows you to make wifi calls on any open wireless network". At this point I just said thanks and left. This was in person, not over the phone and I bet if I gave the guy that toy that teaches kids how to put a square block in a square hole he would fail miserably.

I was in the mall today and stopped in to ask about the 3g/4g thing in this area and she straight up told me its military issues. She said 2014 before their contract is up, and there's nothing to say they won't just renew it. Looks like I'll just ebay this phone and go sign a contract with Verizon. G2 is my first smartphone, and I love it. I didn't know anything about all this 3g/4g stuff before hand, but its gotten to the point that it annoys me to have such ****ty data speeds, and now that I know it won't be changed until 3 years from now if even then, or I move I'm pretty done with it. 20 bucks more a month I could have an equally good phone and a decent network speed.
The chick told me they do have the edge network here, like that was some great accomplishment, and its "almost 3g". I don't know what 3g speeds are but I'm betting they're not less than 1mbps. In the heart of pensacola I hit 0.17mbps data speed, so that's like saying windows 3.11 is "almost" windows xp. Damn disappointing for such a kickass phone. If I lived in a 4g area I would be euphoric.

Reposted on AC also, trying to get as many peoples input as possible!
Going to start of by saying this isnt a slam against Sprint. I was happy as hell to go back to them after having ATT with my iPhone. This post is to get a general feel for the speeds people are experiencing.
Sum it up as short as I can, I wanted to watch the Seahawks playoff game tonight, so I fired up the ole Slingplayer. To my disappointment, it looked like complete crap and was literally freezing up. So I decided to run a speedtest to see what kind of up/down speeds I was getting.
This is where it gets crappy. I had a friend with a DroidX on Verizon, and another friend with the Samsung Galaxy phone from AT&T next to me, and asked them to run a test also. Speeds were as follows
Verizon- 2.1mb down 950 up
AT&T- 2.3mb down 650 up
Sprint - 393kbps 655kbps up
Uh...yeah. So I ran it again,186kbps down 397 up...WTH
I know Sprint isnt exactly the best carrier and all (and yes I do still love em for the prices) but is the network THAT crappy?
Alittle info about my phone is this:
Android 2.2
2.15.00.11.19 Baseband
2.6.32.15 netarchy-toastmod 4.1.9.1 cfs
3.70.651.1 Build #
Azrael X 3.0
PRI 1.90.003
PRL 60674
I have tried to update my radios with the combo pack at first, but the radio itself stalled at Formatting Cache, so i tried to use them seperately, and once again, stalled at formatting. Everytime I try to update my radio (to actually have it run the full course), it stalls at the formatting part after the self reboot. I thought I would give it time, but 10min of sitting on that screen and nothing, I manually reboot and manually format cache thru recovery. I also updated my profiles each time I try to reinstall the radios.
Am I missing something here or doing something wrong? I know about tower signals and all, but since the area I live and work will NOT be getting 4G anytime soon (as its outside Milwaukee and 4G will not reach that far when and IF Milwaukee gets it), I would at least expect my 3G service to be better than that!
Don't feel so bad. I live in Milwaukee and...
About a year and half ago I could consistently hit 2 mbps on my Touch Pro / Diamond. Then a few months later I was down to about 1500 kbps, which was more then fine. About 6 months ago me and a friend (different plans etc) both started experiencing close to 400 kbps. On our TP2's. It has gotten much worse. I have an EvO, he has a TP2 still so it is not phone related. There are days I can't get above 47 kbps. Most of the time I seem to hover around 87-187 kbps. I have literally waited 2 minutes for webpages to load. And this has been going on for about the past 2 months. Numerous calls and troubleshooting has lead me to believe sprints network is just way to overloaded. I am about to leave Sprint and grab some t mobile and HSPDA+ love. I give till March 31st, only because someone I know claims Sprint 4G may become active here. Apparently there is already a network in place and it is a licensing issue. I doubt it is true, but that is how long I give sprint to get their network together.
Regrettably T Mobile isnt an option for me since I live out in the Falls. I have a store about a 5 min walk from me and the sales reps told me not to even bother about a year or so ago lol.
Even walking thru malls when those sales people approach me, all I say is I live in Meno Falls, and they stop the sales pitch lol

To the OP, your speeds are indicative of 3g (or less) speeds. Was the phone in 4g mode when you ran the test?
Sadly, sprint and verizon 4g technology is not compatible, otherwise swapping out to a verizon prl might be the trick.
Come to think of it, there was another thread here regarding using verizon's 3g even in areas where sprint does have coverage. Did you try that?
Around the oshkosh appleton area I get 300-1000 kbs down and around 700-800 up.
So wait. How can I piggyback off Verizon with a Sprint phone?? I know both are CDMA but thought theres a big difference between chipsets etc.
Oddly enough too I used to able to use my IPad sling player at work also, thought somewhat choppy at times, but it's NEVER been as bad as it's been the past week or so. I did read somewhere that people are having issues with the new radios so I wonder if that could be the culprit and if flashing to a previous radio would clear things up. Then again I think the 3.70 update requires the new radios to function properly though I could be wrong
Anyway back to crying over my non functioning sling players on iPad and Evo due to lack of any decent reliable bandwidth lol
It's not your radio. I've been running the same radio since the 3.29 update. I'm on the 3.70 build now but, the radio hasn't been updated. I used to get close to 1st meg down here in louisville but since christmas it's lucky to get 150 k.

Hey, we aren't talking of 4G. And no, his speeds are less then 3G. And the issue with Verizons PRL is if more then half or like 500MB is roaming data, then Sprint likes to terminate you.

Nice. What Radio/Rom? Not that it makes a diff.

Not your radio. Several phones in my area do this.

You and me, in the same boat.
Milwaukee Area
I was recently up in the Milwaukee area over the holidays and the 3G was actually pretty solid at about 1 meg.
In KC, I am lucky to get 256 kb on any given day. Wisconsin doesn't have the 4G network yet - but honestly 4G is over rated (Great speeds if you are outside standing next to the tower and don't mind being tethered to an power outlet)
It is easy to forget that Sprint and other cell phone providers Internet access is still cell phone technology in a world of cable modems and DSL... That the speeds are comparible but there is cell phone "lag" due to the wireless transmissions. And that lag definately will be a factor in gaming and streaming video where packets have to be on time.

I think that's more of a Wi-Max issue than Sprint. LTE doesn't have that problem because they operate at a higher frequency. I believe Sprint and Clear are going to switch to LTE and that might actually be the reason for the delay in some areas. I read an article yesterday about Clear having an LTE network running in Phoenix right now with speeds touching 90 megabits. Google it.
As for my speeds in Brookfield the best I got today was 787 down and 621 up. That's been normal for me.

Indeed. Bottom end of 3g. Fwiw, this little tweak might help

look at the bottom, http pd proxy port and proxy address
I changed mint to
port:0
proxy: 0.0.0.0
I was having issues with shoutcast streaming in winamp and other programs. This change bypasses the proxy, but may also help in the op's case.
DOh! Forgot about that... It's right there in sprint's terms and [email protected]# So really, such use is suitable when traveling, where bulk of the data usage is in a sprint market. But where less than majority (49%?) is while roaming. Of course the 49% is my interpretation. They don't really define what majority means.
http://shop.sprint.com/en/legal/legal_terms_privacy_popup.shtml
Off-network Roaming: The primary use of your Device must be for domestic purposes within the Sprint-owned network. Domestic means use in the 50 United States and U.S. Territories (except Guam). Sprint reserves the right, without notice, to deny, terminate, modify, disconnect or suspend service if off-network usage in a month exceeds: (1) voice: 800 min. or a majority of minutes; or (2) data: 300 megabytes or a majority of kilobytes. The display on your device may not always be on and will not indicate whether you will incur roaming charges. You can monitor usage online through My Account. Roaming is not available with single-band phones, or to customers who reside or whose primary use is outside an area covered by the Nationwide Sprint Network. Sprint may limit or terminate service if you move outside of the Sprint owned-network.

Been having horrable data speeds on 3g the past 3-4 months. And ive been calling and complaining everytime i have problems and making note of when i called sprint and what was done to the account. I have tried everything they asked including going to the store and getting a refurbed evo. But at the store when i got the refub i dled speedtest and got the same results...so i told them to keep it and give me my original phone back.
Point of this post is to DEFINATLY call and complain...dont let it go and look it over. Take notes on what they said and did to your account and spit it back at them the next time you call. They wanna charge me an etf for something that is not my fault since i want to cancel. I wont accept that...this is there problem...i shouldnt pay for full service if i aint getting it or be punished for cancelling when it is a problem on there end. Here is notes from todays convo with them as an example for others that should do the same. It may be the only way for them to fix there service or the only way they look at you and be like...hes to much of a pain in the ass to keep him so let him go. I will continue to call and complain until it is hopefully fixed or worst case they cancell my contract...todays notes.
Feb 15 spoke to 3 sprint reps and 1 supervisor in the cancellation dept..had my bill adusted to 101.09 dollars for poor service the past 3-4 months. So far total credits issued for poor data the past 4 months is $16 for invisable screen protecter..$20 for data booster at home...$30 for a credit issued for january for poor data speeds and $36 today for february's bill of poor data speeds. Total of $102.00
I've also noticed slower speeds for some time now, along with my home comcast internet. too many people online these days? (my internet used to be blaazzzing fast for 9 years!)
This has happened to me since November. I got my evo on launch day, and was getting great speeds, about 1500kbps down consistently. One day in November, my 3g crapped out. Since then, sprint has given me 6 phones, 3 refurbs and 3 brand new ones. All have the same problem. This leads me to believe its a network problem, I mean how could 7 phones have the same exact problem. But, my friend has an evo, and side by side his is normal, while I get less than 70kbps. And the evo's in the sprint store are fine as well, along with all the other phone models.
I have spent HOURS and HOURS on the phone trying to get this taken care of. I'm not trying to get anything from sprint, I just want my 3g to work. I love the evo, and I love sprint's coverage in my area.
They have given me 6 phones, and I haven't paid my bill in 3 months, since they keep giving me credits since they cant figure out the problem. I really could care less, I just want my 3g to work correctly.
So no, it really DOESN'T pay to complain. I have spent hours of my life complaining about this, and have gotten nowhere.
Same thing here. My 3G data speeds crapped out last November also. Sprint has no idea what the problem could be. I think everybody who is experiencing slower than normal data should raise serious hell with Sprint every single day. This is NOT a coincidence. I suspect something fishy is going on and I'm not going to pay these premium unlimited data fees for terrible 3G data speeds! I'm going to demand Sprint to credit my account 50% every month until they turn 3G back on like it used to be. If not I want out of my contract. Either way I can easily sell my two EVO's on Craigslist to cover the etf's.
I can't watch Sprint TV, YouTube, or stream any online video content. Web browsing is VERY slow. My data speeds have gone from 1.6mbps to .30kbps since last November and now I never get speed results faster than .76kbps on a good day. It seems like Sprint flipped a switch one day out of the blue and data speeds went to **** ever since.

What happened was more people got on the data network and Sprint hasn't invested in capacity like Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T has to support more 3G data traffic.

As we all know, HTC and Sprint borked downloads for apps like Rhapsody, Mog, Thumbplay.
I recently ran across the subject and i found a fix. It is very simple.
1. Get your MSL, There are many ways, call Sprint, Download the app MSL Reader from the market, CDMA workshop
2. After you have your MSL go to your phone and type ##3282#
3. Click Edit Mode
4. Click Advanced
5. Scroll down to HTTP PD Proxy Port & HTTP PD Proxy Address
6. Change HTTP PD Proxy Port to 0 (zero)
7. Change HTTP PD Proxy Address to 0.0.0.0
8. Go enjoy Downloads and a .20-.60 mbps increase in 3G speeds!
-All credit to original finder of this fix, i am just passing it along and found the speed increase. Also when you flash a new rom it will back to old settings so remember to re-apply and it wont make you more vulnerable to anything.

The Proxy changes do indeed help. Be sure to give them a try. That being said. my 3G and 4G data speeds are roughly half of what they were four months ago (Baltimore market). The only thing that has not changed is my RSSI or signal strength which comes in at -62.00 dBm every day, all day. The Rx signal to noise ratio has been reading "Not ready" for the past couple of months. What happened to it? How do I calculate CINR without this part of the equation?
I've complained numerous times about my poor signal coverage and pour 3g and ay first they gave me a airvana airave unit which really doesn't work to well with the evo..... but at least they did something....
I have an Airwave on the way. Sprint has also credited a month's bill yet again. Let's hope Sprint/Clear can get their collective acts together soon.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
For slow 3G speed, an Airvana is not the answer for the simple fact that it hooks into your existing broadband connection.. you could just get a WiFi router.
That's what I told them. They said it was an "Airwave 2.0" and acts like a repeater of the 3G signal. Either way, it is of no cost to me. It does show a willingness of Sprint to work with me, even if the proposed solution is no solution.

It's obvious the more people who start using smartphones will start to slow down the service, but its the same with Comcast internet as much as I hate it. The companies all get u with the little filler words "up to". The speeds are not and never will be garunteed, at least not in the near future. Let's just hope these clowns actually give us TRUE 4g speeds in the next few years(70-100Mbps) as the technology grows.
Not 100% true. My company says up to as well, but its only allowed to be 5-10 percent off that speed, otherwise they send someone out.

I mean there is wiggle room. But when a company says 20Mbps and u only get 13, u r within that range u are talking about. I know Comcast, if u pay for 20mbps service, u can be getting 12 and they can do nothing about it on their end. It's because some units share a single.signal, same with cell towers, the more people using , the slower it'll be. And grandma and grandpa are starting to get smartphones, so it'll keep getting slower unless sprint stays on top of their game.

Yeah pretty much if you have a WiFi capable device.
I've gone from amazing 3G reception to constant dropouts and I work downtown Chicago across from the Sears Tower...I have no idea what has happened but being connected to 3G is hit or miss.
They also sent me an airave, which did indeed help in my home. But that does nothing outside of my home. Also, if the 3g works with the airave, that should mean that there is no problem with the 3g radio, so its not a hardware problem, but a network problem.

I dont think this is the problem. As I stated earlier, two of my friends have evo's, and side by side, their two get normal speeds, while mine gets crap. Also, in the sprint store, I tested their display evo, just fine, and a few other random phones, all were fine.

I live in the north subs and my parents are downtown Lake n Deerborn, and my parents phones have been crap lately too. Maybe sprint is over emphasizing the 4G downtown(much faster there then where I'm at) and could be messing w 3G speeds. Probably not the exact case but I can see sprint concentrating highly on 4G where it is abundant and short changing 3G a little bit.
I'm no pro so don't take my theory to heart, just thoughts.
