I can't get the GPS to lock on. I have used all the fixes. Sense clear. GPS assistance app. Etc. Anyone have a take on this issue? Thanks in advance and go cyanogenmod!

Download GPS STATUS APP, free in the market. Open the app, select menu, then tools, then Manage A-GPS state, reset. Go back to tools, MAnage A-GPS, download. Then menu again, radar and let it pinpoint your location. once it pinpoints, select menu once again and select status. It should work by then...

What version of CM7 do you have? RC1? It is widely known that RC1 still has many GPS issues for people. There are fixes in the thread for modifying a few files. Or you can flash to any nightly later than around build #4 (they started over at #1 after the RC1 came out) in which they fixed some GPS issues for many people.
Thanks alot man. Im really new to this is there a link for to fix the problem? Im not sure how to do the nightly because me and my friend just rooted last night for the first time.
Sorry if i sound annoying

Just flashing a newer build is probably easier than doing a fix and modifying files if youre new to this.
The latest nightlies can be found on cyanogenmod.com . HERE is the link to the G2 (HTC Vision) nightlies.
The latest is #7 right now (cm_vision_full-7.zip). Just download and put on your SD card (remember, only use the builds for "Vision", the codename for the G2). Go to ROM manger and click "Install ROM from SD card" then select the file and you're good to go. Don't forget to do a Nandroid backup first just in case it doesn't work out for you.
All these builds are is small iterations and changes baked on-top of RC1 and before the stable release. For the most part at this point their no more/less stable than RC1.
Thanks alot. Would i need i need reinstall the zip for google maps?

Nope, if you're coming from a previous version of CM7 and don't wipe data (theres no need to) you shouldn't need to reflash any Gapps.
Well i did the nightly cyn7 and still not working. I even went back to the RC1 and still not working. Idk what else to do. I was thinking of going to cyn6 since its stable?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Did you flash the nightly over RC1? Just make sure to clear the caches without wiping the data. And then flash it over.
Did you enable Google location sharing (the exact terminology of that may be off)? If you're stuck at "Waiting for location" you might need to toggle that setting.

If anyone still is having issues and you have Juice Defender install, uninstall it. For me it seems that Juice Defender was the issue. I noticed that Juice Defender and Gingerbread do not get along. GPS works now. I also install nightly 8 after clearing the cache.
Thanks man. Also how can i get my quick buttons back to work?

The shortcut may just be corrupt, look in the app list and see if it's there (and re-create your shortcut.)
If it's not in the app list (and your trying to use the EOS release) then it's possible that you need to format your /system partition and try installing EOS and gapps again.
If your on the OTA, I have no idea how to help.
Airesch is probably correct. If you're using a shortcut to launch the Camera try deleting it and launching it from the app drawer or making a new shortcut.
Exactly as said, if you on rooted image of team eos hellybean ROM, gapps has a little issue and it was advised to do the following to fix all apps shortcuts including camera, and video chat, however, face unlock is till begin worked on,
Wipe cache,
Wipe dalvik,
Format system partition,
Flash ROM again,
Flash gapps right after,
Then reboot,

Working here dadavices. Not sure what to tell you. I'm on bone stock JB Xoom
Similar problem here with OTA stock update - except mine was the calendar and calculator app - even though the apks and odex files were in system/apps..
Is camera listed in Settings>Apps? With V411?
Does it allow "uninstall updates"? This did not fix mine... but was related...
My cured ... two solutions..
A) Full wipe after the OTA update fixed it.. and.
B) If you have a ICS backup - revert back. In Settings>Apps - run "Uninstall updates" on all system apps that have the option. Revert back to stock system and boot partitions - and let the OTA run again.

Hello Experts,
It's been ard two months I am struggling to get my gps work on my s4 which was working when I bought the phone and was on stock Samsung OS.
It's started when I rooted my phone. Subsequently installed CM10.1 nightly (I guess 24/7/2013-nighly). Now I am on cm10.1 rc2.
Gps status show 0/0 sats. No satellites in view
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

As you are rooted, something worth trying would be FasterFix from PlayStore. You'll see what it does.
Good luck!
Thanks for response. Yes I am rooted.
Recently I installed latest modem (mh8) as well Which didn't help either.
I tried GPS status, GPSFix, gps test etc. Those didn't help. But never used to keep the gps open for more than 5 minutes.
Will keeping it on longer help?
Thanks.

Also if someone can tell me the permissions on gps.conf file if it matters.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
My GPS error was caused by a software conflict - in my case, Yahoo Weather. It stopped the GPS from getting proper signal or lock, but when I uninstalled the app it returned to normal. The latest version of Yahoo Weather has fixed the issue.
Think about any apps you may have installed at the time of rooting. Rooting itself should not cause this issue.
You could try taking a full backup, reset the device and see if GPS works again with no user apps installed. If it does it sounds like a software conflict, if it does not then it is a firmware/hardware problem.
Yeah read that thread which talks about yahoo weather. I don't have it. Infact I did wipe few times to install new nightly. And checked gas just by installing Google maps, which didn't help.
Could it be a hardware issue? How can we confirm? My gps status show 0/0 sats in view.

If all else fails, unroot, flash the Original FW via Odin.

To see if is hardware you need clean install
1. Download odin 3.07 ( you have option NAND ERAS ALL )
2. Download MH8 ( If you are with knox ), / MF8 ( NON KNOX BOOT )
3. Download PIT
4. Odin - check NAND, PIT file, PDA AND START
5. After flash your phone wont boot ( stuck at samsung Logo )
6. Boot in recovery ( volume up )( original recovery )
7. Factory reset + format cache.
8. Will reboot automatically the phone
9. Install GPS TEST. And let it search for maxim 5 min. ( will be cold start )
Come back with result

Wow, thanks.
Few questions though
1. If I select NAND ERASE All, will erase everything what I see in internal memory?
2. What is knox boot?
Thanks again.

When you are entering in download mode and you have 2 lines there where is writen Knox kernel lock 0x0 and knox warranty void that means that you have secure bootloader ( you can flash only MH group or GG ). If you dont have I recommend to flash MF8 Or BGMA.
And yes NAND eras all ... is deleting all from internall memory

Hello there,
I did as you mentioned above. Unfortunately it didn't help. Is there something bad with my GPS hardware? I remember it was working when I was on stock ROM when I bought the phone.
I saw a post for GS3 which states tightening the screws to fix gps issue. Can we do something similar for GS4?

I don't believe it's cyanogen, basically just rooted with the sprint hotspot hack and custom recovery. I currently use the touchwiz launcher afaik, is the framework different?
If you just Rooted the stock firmware the setting can be found by going to settings -> my device -> display-> check the multi window check box. And you should be able to run split screen
