Screen Broke, Need Help Recovering Files/Settings - Atrix 4G General

Today my phone fell out of my pocket and was ran over and the screen was completely crushed and ruined. The phone still works because I still hear it receiving calls, emails, and texts but I can't interact with the screen. I'm able to plug it into my computer and save the files off of it though.
What I really want to do is remotely control my phone through my computer so I can save my texts, do a titanium backup, and check my missed calls. Is there any program out there that can do this? BTW, I lost root when I updated so I cant use any programs that require root.

I'm pretty sure you could do this with the android sdk. Haven't used it myself but I remember seeing people with their phones screen mirrored I their pc. Also the phone screen is mirrored when your in the webtop.

Does the Android SDK require root to mirror my phone to my PC?

I think trying to emulate the phone through SDK is your best bet...other than that I can't think of anything else...

I dont think it does but not entirely sure i've always rooted my phones as soon as I get them and dont have much experience with the sdk just know it can do it. Hopefully someone who knows better than me can help you out on how to get it working.

use the webtop interface? it would let you use the phone without the phone.

I unfortunately do not have the laptop accessory for the Atrix. Unless there is alternative way to hook it up to my computer without having to install anything on my phone first?

go to an att store and try it there? you might be able to use it to copy stuff to the card or do what you need.

Search for a windows java program called androidscreencast. It would let your phone's screen show on your windows pc. You can then use your mouse to control the phone.

Replace the screen and use the phone. They replace very easy.

When you asked if is required to root earlier: no but you do need to somehow enable USB debugging

Is There a Way

Is there a way to actually control my phone from my computer? I mean, if I want to send out a text or something and don't want to have to pull it off the dock, or if I want do do something with the phone or whatever and just leave it on the dock, is there a program somewhere that allows that?
I knwo we can create virtual devices and stuff, but I want to take it a step further.

Yeah, well I dont wanna have to wait 10 minutes for their crap site to load (since the redesign). I want to be able to do whatever I want with my phone like I was 'touching' it, but with my mouse.
Haha have you guys tried PicMe?? Im quite sure that may be what you're looking for. You can control your device with your mouse, and you can use your keyboard to type.
Hope this helps
If all you want to do is control your phone Picme will work, but after trying it last night I found out that it would not work if the screen went to sleep. If you want to be able to access files from anywhere then I will post a thread of what needs to be done to get it to work once I finish getting it setup. Right now i have a website redirect to my phone using dyndns service but have not been able to get any app to recognize my external ip address.
I think I may have gotten something. I will let you know shortly
Hell to the yeah (oH THAT'S NOT COOL TO SAY ANYMORE)
Here is what I want to do.
1. Control my phone from any computer over wifi or internet
2. Access my phone from any computer over wifi or internet
I started messing with android's vnc server here. It looks like our kernel needs to be modified to use it correctly, but it still doesn't allow access to the content on the phone. I can also use swiFTP to access my phone storage over wireless but not through the internet
I have installed dyndns on my phone and have a website redirect to my phone and can verify that it does work because I used it for Picme.
I have also tried another ftp server, but could not get it to work over the internet.
Here is an app that is suppose to work on the phone as avnc server, but I can't get it to work..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6896000#post6896000
i can't work on any of this until later tonight.
i dont know if its completley possible, itll be a little difficult
What's crazy is in the past 2 days I have seen 5 threads started on xda about this same thing which I found doing searches. Do people not search.

Is there any way I could use a mouse to control my Nexus 4?

I dropped my phone at work unfortunately and now the screen along with the digitizer is broken. Is there any way I could use a mouse to get past the lock screen on my phone to retrieve some of my important data like text messages?
I'm also open to other suggestions besides trying the mouse.
Um I don't know really... Did you search because I can't think of anything .

Couldn't find anything but I'll still try.
Anyone?
you only need your power and volup/down keys to go into/flash/boot a custom recovery.
Make a nandroid with CWM and save it to your pc, you should be able to use titanium backup to pull the contents out of the nandroid and restore with it.
Weither or not it restores depends on the new device though, but this is true regardless of the method you did to back it up.

I use the other Recovery tool instead of CWM and that only supports touch from what I've gathered :-/
Use adb to pull what you need from your phone

There's an app called "Share KM", Keyboard and Mouse, in Play Store that allows mouse and keyboard on a PC connect to an Android phone via USB cable.
I've tried this on my Tab. But dunno on Nexus 4.
Give it a try, just follow the instructions.

Next time read better ....
he ask a way to use a mouse WITH Nexus 4 because his screen not responding, and not use the N4 as a mouse
Ace: you do not need to access to phone for making this, use Nexus4 ToolKit to dump the entire phone+storage data onto the computer. and after you can find everithing inside

Uhhh... That's exactly what that app is for. It shows a mouse pointer in the Nexus 4 and you can type FROM THE PC TO Nexus 4. You haven't even seen the app yet. God...

You can flash CWM instead of the touch recovery in fastboot. Look at the return to stock guide and use the very bottom section where it talks about how to root your phone and install a custom recovery. Install CWM recovery and you should be good

I pulled the necessary sms files from my N4 and tried restoring them on my new phone but I get force closes when I open the Messages app and nothing shows up. Any way I can restore them properly?
only way I know how is to use Titanium Backup to same SMS data in XML format. transfer that data to your new device and restore it with Titanium Backup.
Oh, try a USB OTG adatper to plug a usb mouse into your phone. I used to use one to use a mouse with my old Moto Xoom.
Use a PC and go to the play store, find SMS backup +, tell it to download to n4, then use droid explorer or android commander to navigate from PC to phone and open up the app and have it backup all messages
Now download it to new phone and say restore. If that doesn't work try the USB otg cable and a mouse. Otherwise a new screen is about 100$ but simple to replace

Screen Crack/Backup Options?

Sooo... My screen cracked under the glass. I've got a new device coming from Sprint, but in the mean time, I'd like to run some backups on Titanium Backup. I tried installing AirDroid to be able control my device from a browser, but you apparently need to run the app before being able to browse to the IP of the device.
I have the paid version of Where's My Droid, but apparently have neglected to sign into the web portal, so I can't use that either. I am rooted, are there any commands I can use with ADB to open apps, or something like that?
I have a lock on my phone, and it's the bottom half of the phone that's non-functional. Any ideas?! I feel that if I can use ADB to start up AirDroid, I have a shot!
Thanks in advance!

If your just trying to backup the apps and files you can just use ADB to pull them i believe. ADB cannot open an app to my knowledge though.
I tried that. I couldnt get adb to connect. It said no devices. I booted holding vol down and power, then it showed up, but said unrecognized, or something like that. Is it possible usb debugging is off? If so, is there a way to enable it w/o using the screen?

Thanks for this. I must not have USB Debugging enabled, or something. My devices doesn't show up in this, either!!
I've got an adapter coming to try using a mouse and I've got the HDMI adapter coming. Hopefully I can somehow get this beast unlocked and get AirDroid activated or something...
I've done some research on enabling USB Debugging remotely, and it seems as though it's impossible.
Windows 8.1 crack is here...then why should we download?
WATCH in youtube: bit{dot}ly/177dEIx
Download links are also there.
Perfectly worked for me...

Easiest way to screenmirror

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask you something, it is a thing which I did not tried earlier so I have no knowlage about it.
What I need is some app with which I can mirror the screen of my phone (S7 Edge non-rooted, Android 7) to my Windows 8.1 PC. I need also to be able to do stuff on the phone directly via the PC, like opening apps, and answering on instant messages.
Is there a way to do it without root, and if yes, what would you recomend? Thank you in advance.
Just search it in Youtube.... cuz I forgot the app

I have no access to youtube here, also I do not know what to search exactly from.
To get it in short, I need some sort of remote control of my phone via PC, but not like Teamviewer which keeps the display and phone awake all times. I need something to be able to use without the screen on the phone itself turning on, or if not possible like that, to turn it on just when I do something via remote and to get it again to turn of when idle.

Buying Essential. Related non-Essential Question

Can anyone suggest an app that will allow me to copy my SD data from my old phone onto the Essential over the air? I thought Google's File Go would work, but it seems to restrict which files I can transfer directly, phone to phone. i need access to files beyond the 6 categories File Go offers. I'd like to stay away from any kind of wiring or PC use. Thanks.
Dropbox seems to be a solution. I still would appreciate additional input. Thanks.

You can take an ADB backup... Which should copy everything on device to computer...
If you are rooted... You can do it via wireless ADB

I'm using an app called HandShaker...work fine for me...
X-plore file explorer will transfer over wifi sharing.
You might want to check into an app called superbeam. It uses wifi to transfer as well and you can use it afterward to transfer files from your PC to your phone and from your phone to PC.
