CM7 or OMGB - Droid Incredible General

Which one do you prefer and why? I currently use CM7 with Incredikernel because I like stock Android. Is OMGB more stock?

OMGB is pure stock gingerbread. CM7 is highly customizable. I flip between these two and SR 4.0 from time to time. OMGB is a solid ROM IMO. zero issues.

There's omfgb... highly customizable as well.... super fast, and zero issues

If you want completely stock Gingerbread, then it would be OMGB ftw, but if you want it with some customizations, try CM7 or OMFGB.

About a month and a half ago, I was hardcore OMFGB from the beginning.
Then I tried CM7....
So now I'm keeping up with the nightly builds.
To be honest, I wish I wasn't so obsessed with keeping up with it... but I like CM7 because it does have more tweaks, themes and support than OMFGB.
OMGB is the closest to stock Gingerbread that you can get.
OMFGB has some tweaks you can implement.... but not nearly as many as CM7.

I use CM7 nightlies. I really like the customizability, especially the CPU settings menu so I don't have to use third-party paid apps to control such things.

CM7
CM7 nightly

Omfgb
Omfgb for me! I like cm7 but found that I don't use all the features that cm7 has.
I put omfgb on my wife's Eris(after cm7, just too laggy on Eris)and I runs great. So being it runs great on old hardware I tried it on my Dinc, and never looked back!

Evervolv!!!

I can't directly compare OMGB and CM7, but I came from an OG Droid running Peter Alfonso's GPA14 ROM which is pure stock GB to the DInc now running CM7.0.2. As much as I loved GPA, CM7 is the clear winner because of the extra features. I have no lag with CM7, and if you don't use all of the extra features, it doesn't matter, just leave those features disabled. But if you want to use any of the added features at all, then clearly CM7 is the way to go. And you never know when you may want to use any of the other extra features in the future.

I just switched from omfgb to CM7 and its works great on my DINC. plus it was an upgrade from 2.3.2 gb to 2.3.3 gb rom. Much faster as well but as I said before I just switched tonight. Lets see if this bogs down.

I roll with OMGB. I just picked up an incredible off ebay since my OG DROID finally bit the dust. I like lightweight AOSP stock roms. CM7 has a lot of options and tweaks but that is often a hindrance rather than an advantage.

I haven't tried CM7, but I can attest for OMGB. I've been using it for over a month straight now with great battery life and zero issues. The screen transitions are a bit choppy, but I just run it with Launcherpro, and that fixes it.

I'm running the latest CM7 nightly (I'm actually downloading and installing nightly #80 as I'm typing this). There are a few bugs of course (it is a nightly build, after all) but it's stable and works well as my daily driver. And thanks to Juice Defender and Incredikernel I can get through a whole day with moderate usage without needing to charge. A couple quick questions though, is the latest version of OMGB 2.3.2 or 2.3.3? And how does OMGB's battery life compare to CM7's?

The latest version of OMGB is 2.3.3 actually. Its Gingerbread. I have been using it the past 12 hours or so and can't decide if I like it better than CM7.

I ment 2.3.3. Sorry for the epic fail.

I'm getting better battery life off of OMGB than I did from CM7. I've used incredikernel on both, as well. But a lot of it really depends on personal preference. I like the stock launcher and a more vanilla experience. Hence OMGB works best for me.
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App

I haven't tried OM(F)GB but the two times I've tried CM7 they run extremely well for about the first 12-24 then everything goes to hell and I have to take it off. Lets see how the compare to Incredibly Re-Engineered 2.4 (froyo). IR 2.3 & 2.4 have been my default rom since I got my inc back in March and I haven't really had a problem with them.

I can't directly compare the two as I've never actually tired CM7, but I love OMFGB......customizable, smooth, and rarely have any FCs

From my experiences, OMFGB runs extremely fast and smooth but lacks the wide spectrum of customizations that CM offers. The difference in speed is noticeable but CM7 with incredikernel runs fast and is great for battery life.

In search of fast sense Rom

I'm lookin for a good, stable, overclockable, fast sense based Rom, any suggestions? Thanks

RE:OP
The word stable is a complicated word, Is the original stock rom on eve stable, No, Myns two point two may be your best shot.
Overclocking has to be bought(no rom will carry that) from the market,
Try:SetCPU (very reliable, updated alot
AOSP roms are the fastest due to it strictly google(no sense), because sense slows it down.
I am happy with htclovers..

Don't be so lazy. Just read feedback on ROMs.
But I use Myn's warm
For sense roms, there are many that you can choose from.
The top three most popular in no order would be: MikFroyo, Myn, and Calkulin's sense based roms.
They vary to some degree depending on what you like.
Myn's tends to be highly themed, while Mik is more optimized. Calk would have to be in between I guess.
Just my opinion.
You will have to check them all out (not just the ones I've listed) to see which is best for you. We can only give you recommendations since we are not who you are.
It may work for some and not you.
Trial and error.
Note: ALWAYS NANDOID
Peace
I liked mikfroyo with netarchy SBC havs aggressive kernel. But I needed my wii remote so I've become sensless

Fastest would be Mikfroyo

I've tried mikfroyo and koni's elite. I'm more partial to koni's because of the theming. It boils down to personal preference of course but the cool thing about already being rooted is that flashing roms is so easy now that you can just about try them all to find out which one best suits you. I'm beta testing koni's elite series II that i just flashed this morning and so far everything is both fast and smooth.
Warm RLS5 is an "older" ROM (if January is old), so you'll have to perform some tweaks yourself (like SD card speed). Almost every aspect of Sense has been "warmed".
MikFroYo 4.5 is quicker (IMHO). Has the latest speed tweaks cooked in (heap size, SD, etc). Similar to Warm, Sense is heavily themed. For whatever reason, this ROM isn't the most stable on my phone.
Azrael X 4.0 is also quick, but very stable as well. Sense is lightly themed compared to the ROMs above. I keep coming back to this ROM due to its stability with my setup.
If you go with any of the 3 above, you'll need to flash a kernel that allows overclocking. I run netarchy, but it'll be trial and error to find the one that works for you. Check out the development section and read about the different ROMs and Kernels. Good luck.
Babiboi manila carbon fiber or mikfroyo...you can't go wrong with either one.both are fast, stable and smooth as butter.
Myn's Warm Two Point Two is amazing and beautiful. Just apply the SD Card Tweak to make it read faster from SD card and watch it fly. If you prefer a fast but relatively stock Sense ROM, minus the bloat, I recommend Sprint Lover's.
I bounce back and forth between these roms..
Mik,Cal,Azrael and CM..
Currently im using Zone's Mik 4.5 Pure version and im loving it.
There is NO best rom, only the one that suits your needs and visual liking. Most of the popular ones are stable for everyday use. (at least for my usage)
I also use ADW EX as my launcher and things seem to be much more snappier.

I am currently using koni's elite 1...works great.....looks great....very fast......
Beta testing Elite 2......even faster....looks great.....will probably stick with koni's roms.
But you can't go wrong with myns rls5.......used it since it came out.....but koni's is a bit faster and themed to my liking......tough choice but you can't go wrong with koni's elite or myns rls5...try them both...that is what this hobby is all about...lol

I've tried a few, but I like MikFroyo 4.5's speed, but I'm not crazy about the look. I am really liking EvoKings Ultimate FroYo right now...it's built off MikFroyo so it's plenty quick, but the theming is better. I want to try Koni's probably at some point, but it looks awfully similar to EvoKings. I haven't had any issues with any of them.
aamikam- mikfroyo (V4.5) ROMS has taking optimizing sense based ROMS to another level read up on it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11190976&posted=1#post11190976
many other mod/themers base their roms off MIKS stock ROM. ...koni, kings, avafroyo, babiboy, dark cocoa to name a few. find the right kernel/rom combo they are all over-clockable.
MIK's rom has a lot of mods you can add if you like that with aps2sd a net kernel. i dont even over-clock and that thing flies also stellar battery life. all depends on what you are looking to use or have in a rom.
I like Sprint lovers...it is my go back to rom....
I'm surprised no one mentioned King's Ultra. It's been just about perfect, and the theming is beautiful, akin to Koni's. I loved Koni's Elite 1, but I had terrrible battery life with it, using several different kernels.
Actually, my battery life pretty much sucks with every set up.
As soon as there's a HTC People mod for CM7, if there ever is, I'm probably gonna go that route.
i disagree that sense slows down the phone. that may be true of benchmarks, but not my real world use. the only non sense rom that i liked was MIUI. I use Warm 2.2, mikfroyo blows in my opinion.

Any rom reccomendatons

I was wondering if anyone had a rom recommendation. I have used Stock Turbo in the past and it worked well but I had problems with my uptime=my awake time. I had to get a new EVO (Dropped my old one) wondering if some people could give me suggestions on what roms they like and why.
I would like to have Wiimax, Google apps, and wireless tethering.
AOSP all the way.
CM7.
Destroyer for themed awesomeness.
CM7 for customizability
Salvage-Mod or Savaged-Zen for simplicity
MikFroyo for a fast sense ROM
Myns or Kings Unleashed for themed sense awesomeness
EViO 2 for Battery
Warm Z, Mik Z or Unleashed Z for Sense 2.0
Miui or VaelPaek for something different
That's my experiences and recommendations based on what I've tried.
For what it's worth, I usually stay on Destroyer (Variant of CM7).
+1 for Jstalford. He is right on from personal experiance also. I'm currently running Dark Cocoa III and love it. Its sense but quick, everything works, and its very stable.
CM7 or deck's gingerbread imo
Just depends on what you are looking for...
For Gingerbread, I personally use Deck's ROM with Cayniarb's Tiamat kernel. Probably the most solid combination I've used.
I also like CM7 which I will test out from time to time.
For Froyo... Most are good. I don't play around with sense much because I think GB is much better.
Yeah, if you haven't tried GB yet you definitely should, there's a couple small issues that are fixable with a little bit of work.
For sense roms, I'm really liking Virus Airbourne right now, really nicely themed. Netarchy kernels have been giving me great battery life as well.

Which rom would you recommend?

I'm currently running CM7, I haven't tried many different roms with this phone, the others I had on my phone at least(besides CM7) were Froyo(stock/rooted) and rooted GB. What other custom roms would be good for me to try, for example, if I want to keep hdmi functionality and 720p recording etc. Is there an AOSP rom where I can keep that functionality?
Liberty .9 is pretty smooth and has the HDMI and 720 p recording down, as well as being very customizable (liberty customizer prompts at first boot to choose which features asop and blur you wish to have).
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
I'm currently running DarslideX. It's a GB based prerooted rom. Has hdmi support, as do most GB builds. Been on it about 2weeks now, very stable, some blur, most bloat removed. There are a couple people making custom themes, sliders, etc for it. You can find it over at mdw.
My DroidX Thrives on the DarkSlide!!
I've had liberty and apex and the rooted leaked gingerbread but I have been happiest with cyanogenmod. Just waiting for HDMI.

Thanks for the responses. I did try Apex, then I installed MIUI.

Cm7 is very stable. I update with the nightly every day. I do have to flash the camera fix to make YouTube work and I also flash the dx2 sound pack from team black hat app although they took it off the app. Wish there was a good HDMI fix already but that's the only thing that would really make cm7 any better for me.
DX+CM7
I'm currently using MIUI and besides the questionable battery life, I love it. My phone feels completely different, in a good way. It's also very smooth and haven't run into any problems yet.
I've been using Liberty v0.9 since it came out. Very smooth, customization is there, everything works... Best rom I've used. Had a problem the first time I loaded it. Re-downloaded it and data wipe fixed it. Liberty toolbox is just as good as team blackhat app.
I'm running Liquid now, i looked at Darkslide X, my phone isn't activated yet, and wanted to know if i have to switch back to stock to get it activated(i may flash to a local company, not Verizon). I might try Liberty.

Agreed 100% MIUI so far has been absolutely wonderful. I would agree though about the battery life issue. Prior to MIUI I was running an early leaked build of Froyo, FroyoDynamite, with SetCPU active on stock kernel I was getting around 2 days of battery life. With MIUI I'm lucky to get a full day.
But everything is super smooth, and it is absolutely beautiful, and the ability to change themes on the fly is amazing. I would agree, it's like a brand new phone to me again.
So is it worth it going from liberty 2.01 to liberty gb .9? I've been holding off because I finally got my dx to run nice with minimal random reboots. I'd love to be on 2.3 but If its still unstable I'll stick with this.

Liberty .8 was good. I then went on to try other ROMs. I avoided APEX because of the bluetooth issue. Right now I am back on rooted 596. CM4DX blew up on me on build 23 and I have been staying away.
I'm trying to find out which ROMS do not have the in-call bluetooth volume issue. I am not getting very many answers though. I wish there was a list of ROM's that do not have the bluetooth issue.

Rom recommendations..

I visit about one every two months or so and don't keep up with what roms are available.

Don't mean to sound rude, but why don't you just peak into the development section?
No need to start a whole new thread for your question when its obvious what ROMs are around by just looking over there.

I could and have looked in the the development section but I would rather get some suggestions from the XDA community.
I personally prefer mik's ROMs.
Some are posted here (mikg) but I get them from themikmik.com
I also enjoyed miui, it's a different flavor of ROM. Miui gets updated every Friday, but I found a stable version and stuck with it for weeks.
Of course there are your stock builds and ports, and the classic aosp ROMs.
I'm sure everyone has their favorites.
I've been running mik3d for months. Its sense 3.0. Its pretty awesome.
Good luck in your search.

MIUI. has scrollable Widgets now, best battery life of any rom I have tried and is awesome with V6, 3G and kickasskernelizer tweaks.
Currently using FEARMEde Bliss Hybrid sense3.5... it still has its quirks but love the look and feel. MIUI is great too... if you like the iPhone usability and feel MIUI is the way to go. My son loves it!
Depends what you want...
I love Deck for AOSP. built on CM7 with all the extras removed. Very minimalist and with savage zen's BFS kernel sickly battery life. I personally got my Evo to about 36 hours on medium use.
For sense there's a few ways to go. I personally have found that the sense 3.x ROMs are very sluggish irrelevant of the setup (God mode and whatnot). If you want a semi-sense 3.x feel though you could try Salvage-mod-sense RC1 which is built on Barnacles speedy port of sense 2.1. The dev added in the 3.0 lock screen, and camera app but for the most part its stock 2.1. It's stable and just as fast as the ROMs built off of the OTA Gingerbread updates for the Evo.
There's also the last mentioned ROMs based of the OTA update. I personally loved Swagged out stock, and Smooth and sexy Gingerbread.
A lot of people will say stay away from sense for the battery life alone, but I've noticed with the Freedom agressive kernel or Chop Suey 9.1 SBC I get battery life that's on par with CM7. Not as good as Savage zen, but a good 12-20 hours depending on usage.
Hope this helps.
I've had the best luck with MikG for sense roms, and I've tried them all lately. It also gets updated frequently.
MIUI is great, but I have found it to be annoyingly buggy. I would go with the previous commenters route and stick with one version that works instead of going for the weekly updates (unless they add 4G!).
Another ASOP option is the Nocturnal Xplod rom thats in the earlier stages of development, but still runs really well with some nice animations. If it's been a couple months and you want something different I would try this.
Try this one!

[Q] What's your daily driver?

Relatively new to the G2, and I'm looking for a daily driver without having to experiment with 10 roms that all have one deal-breaking bug.
I like sense, which is good because it looks like pretty much all of the recent roms are sense or miui. I really wanted to have a sense 3.0/3.5 with 3d widgets, but it doesn't look like there are any stable, fast roms in this department.
So what's your go-to rom? I probably will start experimenting with all the newer roms anyway, but I want to get set up with a stable fallback first.
Thanks
As far as an AOSP ROM goes, I believe that meXdroidMod is hands down the fastest thing I've ever installed and it also has great developer support too. Here recently I've been all about MIUI so right now I'm running tun4fish's Bulletproof Miui. I'm in love with the speed and stability of this rom and the amount of customization you can do with it.
All in all it all boils down to personal preference. I like flashy, customizable roms so those two fit me. Play around and see what's right for you

Been running Bulletproof MIUI the last couple weeks. Solid daily driver with all the features I need and no issues.
When I get bored, I switch back/forth between CM7 and MIUI.
Been a meXdroidMod convert for awhile now. Really really fast and everythings smooth! Developer support is awesome too!
I started out with trying Virtuous Unity and Virtuous Doubleshot but found the Sense 3.0 ROMs were to slow for my DZ.
Settled for Virtuous Sense for the time being which is perfect for me. Also tried out Bulletproof MIUI just to try something completely different but that was definitely not for me so I returned to Virtuous Sense.
