Email and SwiftKey - Galaxy S II General

I have SwiftKey installed and it gives me good prediction when I type. However on the email client that came with the phone it doesn't give predictions! I've changed to other keywords and back again but same problem.
Any thoughts?

Same problem here mate. This problem is not specific to Swift key but also other third party keyboards like Smart Keyboard also.
I have brought this to notice of the Swiftkey team....they are looking into it. Hope they do something fast as Swiftkey is so much better than the native keyboard!!!
You may follow the link below which has the thread opened with Swiftkey support group...

Fantastic, thanks for the info.

It seems auto-correct does not work with any 3rd party keyboard in Email. Grrr.

Thats right. Just received message from Swiftkey support saying its a Samsung issue since they seem to have defined the field in the OS incorrectly and that we should wait for them to fix it in a future software update

Ok so the next question is what is the best alternative email app to use?

I may be crazy...

So I have haptic feedback when touching some things on by Tab, but when actually typing with the keyboard, I don't have any...I swaear I had it before.
I do have "vibrate on key press" checked in the keyboard settings too. I'm using Pershoot's Kernal with stock KME.

It only works with Samsung keyboard, so maybe you are using Android keyboard ?
Wow....that is exactly right, I feel like an idiot now!! I knew I wasn't crazy haha.

Works on other keyboards too - eg SwiftKey Tablet.
Regards,
Dave
this is probably the most annoying thing about the touchwiz update. I wonder if there's any way to change it..
Yah, any devs out there know of a way to turn haptic feedback on for the stock android keyboard...?

[Q]Better than Swype?

I just want to know is there any keyboard which is better than Swype in matter of recognition and word deletion/correction?
ICS keyboard is the best one I've seen so far for android, as I'm a really fast typer coming from IOS (vest keyboard over all), I installed ICS keyboard from the play store and set the auto correct to aggressive so as I type every few words my eyes just look to the screen to see if the keyboard auto correct wrong any words then I correct it manually or just continue talking.
PS. ALWAYS READ WHAT YOU TYPE BEFORE HITTING THAT ENTER BUTTON, BECAUSE WHEN YOU DON'T, WE GOT SITES LIKE DAMNYOUAUTOCORRECT.COM.

I beg your pardon but ICS Keyboard doesn't support Swype/Swipe input.
SwiftKey 3, is good.

Swiftkey 3
Swiftkey or swype
SwiftKey 3 rocks

Swiftkey 3 has the best word prediction and correction that I've seen.
But the current Swype beta is close to it.
Both will get better the longer you use them
I can enter in text faster using Swype beta than Swiftkey.
Even faster again if I use the S Pen.

Swift key is one of the best in terms of prediction. But sometimes I find it a bit laggy.
I'd liked Swift Key 3 but it does not support swyping input on keyboard guys.
I liked the way it recognizes and corrects words.
I used to love Ultra Keyboard...but it doesn't work properly now on ICS....gets force closes...
I prefer Swiftkey 3. My flatmate prefers swype.
Pretty much everyone I know uses either swiftkey or swype.
new swype beta also has word prediction.
I have found that the standard ICS keyboard is best primarily, in addition to it being very accurate, It allows for speech recognition where you do not have to speak all at once- you can take breaks between words without any problem, whereas swype does not. Be sure to enble personalized recognition in settings as it does not do this manually. IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE AND I DONT EVEN HAVE A WEIRD ACCENT.

I meant alternative keyboard other than swipe, I never did get used to swype, but that's just my opinion.

After so much suggestions towards "Swift Key 3", I am on it now.
I'll try to get used to it.
But I am now really fast with "Swype".
Don't know which to use for a long time yet.

International s4 keyboard

Anyway we can load it on to our US versions so we can have auto correction ?

thats true, does swiftkey have auto-correct and dedicated number row?
im using one which has autocorrect but not dedicated number row
what was the samsung thinking with no autocorrect lol
No numbers row but auto correct works well. I had heard Samsung removed it on US versions cause of Apple. Kii has a paid one with numbers row and autocorrect with swype feature but the swype freezes some

Touch Wiz Samsung keyboard autocorrect

Any idea why it doesn't even work with an international ROM?
Still doesn't automatically autocorrect for me.
EDIT: Oops this was supposed to be in Q&A sorry.
It doesn't auto correct period. Download smart keyboard pro or root and flash Xperia keyboard which has the best auto correct ever.

I think this is it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2196653.
I was going to install it but it has to be flashed and I don't have custom recovery installed yet.
I didn't read up on it so I'm not sure if its 100% compatible with the sg4 bit it is under general android forum.

I installed the xperia one, honestly it was as good as I thought. I just stick to swift key. There was a guy a while back who said his Samsung keyboard had auto correct maybe ill see if he can put it up
Found it. Not that good. Auto correct is crap compared to swift key

I bought swiftkey a long time ago and try it after every update but never use it. I would use stock Sammy keyboard over that.

I agree. But hey to each his own right.
The Samsung keyboard, even though it's a version of SwiftKey, is crippled without autocorrect so I just use the normal SwiftKey which is amazingly awesome. I thought I really wanted the always-there number row on the Samsung keyboard, but adjusting the key hold duration to ~200ms on SwiftKey makes inserting numbers nearly as good while taking up less screen space.

i find my autocorrect tooo slow :/
I have to wait before i can press the space bar, kinda crappy
There is a guy in the VZW section who got the international S4 keyboard working with autocorrect. But the autocorrect lags.

That is a great suggestion for the SwiftKey keyboard. I have multiple keyboards loaded and find myself constantly switching back and forth. Different KBs have their pros and cons. I like the number key on the Samsung KB, but missing AC is not so nice.
Reducing the key hold duration per your suggestion makes SwiftKey much more usable for me. It's now back to my default KB.
Heh. The KBs I have on my GS4 are:
A.I. type KB free
AnySoftKB
Kii KB
MessageEase KB (never really got into this one)
Swype
Samsung (OEM)
Google voice (OEM)
TouchPal KB
SwiftKey KB

(4.3)Solution for Swype keyboard not working

For those having problem activating the Swype keyboard on 4.3, just disable the 'auto replacement' option in the Samsung keyboard settings.

Doesn't help...I use touch pal keyboard instead... wonderful and also has one hand setting like the default Samsung one and also had extra features and is themable too

Make sure the language is UK English. You may or may not have to reboot, YMMV.

Back to samsung keyboard
I was kept using Swype for some year, then i changed to Swiftkey, but now im back to stock galaxy keyboard.
It seems the current swype keyboard is more accurate than the earlier version..... It tends to get the words more correctly as if checking the sense...
Swipe Keyboard not working
Being using Dr Ketan initial version for 3 days. Swipe keyboard doesn't work on first day, but 2nd day, it works again. Then on 3rd day...loosing it permanently. Thought of changing to Wanam V4 would have better luck. But same.
Too bad that Swipe keyboard not working. Hope the official release would solve this issue.
+1 on disappearing Google account
Sent from my GT-N7100 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Swype keyboard sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It's really random so it's kinda hit or miss if this will fix it for you.
The disappearing Google account can be fixed by doing a full wipe. I had this too and this fixed it for me.
Yes, it works now. Thanks for the info.
