OTA July 19th?(tonight)

has anyone gotten, heard, or know anything about the supposed OTA that is coming? supposed overall performance improvements, as well as better camera app, also supposed to fix that possible charging bug.

That should help you out, if you haven't seen it already. I may or may not hold off on the OTA because it may help with the Droid X rooting efforts. Chances are I'll get it though :-/

This is my first android phone so I'm just wondering...what's the procedure for an OTA update? Will the Droid X automatically prompt us when it becomes available or is there a manual action required?

automatic, so yes something will prompt you and if you don't click for it yourself in 3 minutes is the time frame i believe, it will automatically just do it. it will restart your phone after it downloads and then install and start up again.
i haven't got the update yet but i have been manually checking all day! i want it bad lol.

Someone on twitter said it would be released at 10:59pm. Idk where he got it from though.

Installed no noticeable difference. Now we will let the clock start ticking for froyo. Tick. Tock. And so it begins. May e this was secretly a maintenance update for froyo. Vzw tweeted today that froyo for the dinc would b late july or early august. U don't think the are going to give it to someone other than their flagship phone first do u?

seems to work alot better with the dock now. not noticing much else.

I wish SE would give us atleast an ETA the suspense is killing me!

yesterday i think i hit it at least five times, today it's certainly way above ten times. they better get us the update fast, if i keep this progress up, it'll be about 80 times on friday Not to mention the poor refresh buttons on my keyboard at home and at work

I'm in Canada and SE confirmed Q4 for us. So i'm just keeping an eye out for that first (legitimate) thread about 2.1. Keep checking guys! Don't forget if your the first one to pull the system for us unlucky ones!

I tried writing a quick script to do it for me since I was wasting too much time, but then i realized my phone has to constantly be in flash mode for this, and since I need my phone, decided to give up

Likewise. But I have pretty much lost hope since I live in Canada and we have to wait for Q4. So if you guys get it, please think of all the poor little Canadians in the frozen wasteland of Canadia and upload your ROMs somewhere on the internets.
By the way, what (if any) functions will we loose hy flashing an 10Xi ROM on a 10Xa phone?

I have to agree with you, that's why I check on the bootloader thread everyday. I lost all hope for a prompt update coming from Sony Ericsson. Those guys are going to loose face big time. I relly jope that the devs here will beat then to 2.1 or *crosses his fingers* 2.2.

Zero times, my phone is in getting fixed the usb terminal has broken so i hope my phone comes back with 2.1 but then again i'm in Australia and everything arrives late here.

Will I be lucky?

Hey guys, as we all know 2.1 is about to roll out for our X10's at any given day now. My question is Im with Rogers here in Canada but my X10 is debranded and not a single thing of Rogers is within my phone. So, will I be lucky enough to not have to wait for the Rogers to release the 2.1 update because knowing Rogers we will just be recieving 2.1 when your all getting 2.2 (if that happens) or will I be able to get it when its released without any waiting from Rogers?

I'm no expert, but if you have the version ending 26, then I don't see why not. Btw some people may slate you for starting another 2.x thread.

Just look at the main 2.1 thread, its been answered many times
And yes, I've done the same thing as you, and I expect we will get the 2.1 update without waiting for Rogers.

I'm in the same situation here. What firmware did you use to debrand? To check when the locked screen is up press menu > back > back > menu > back > menu > menu > back and go to "service info" -> "model info". Mine shows Argentina and I have an X10a as well. Maybe I'll need to reflash it with another firmware.
Is anyone else with an X10a stuck on the same 20? For those of you who have 26, which firmware did you debrand the phone with?

Why don't we all just wait for someone to get 2.1, then we can decide what to do.
I'm sure there are 100s of Rogers users in this forum, me included

It was debranded when I got it...but yeah I'm Argentina as well as a few others...hopefully we don't have to wait for rogers tho...if get it first or before many of you just show me how to share it.

Just restoring stuff now. Am on R2BA026 now, and now it says Generic LAM (b). Seems good now.

[Q] JI6 Update... I'm still waiting.

It is now November and I still have yet to receive the update. Is there anybody else out there still waiting for the official update? I've wanted to replace the ROM for a while now, but I told myself that I'd wait till the official update came out. Well October has come and passed and I'm still waiting. How many of you are out there still waiting for it?

Hearing that froyo is on it's way soon so it may not be worth it but odin is easy and you can have stock ji6 today.

OP, What exactly are you waiting for? An invitation? Even if your unwilling to flash JI6 via odin for whatever reason you can install mini keis on your computer and update that way.

I ran into many problem while trying to use Kies. Windows 7 just won't install the driver so I gave up on it. If a Froyo update is coming then I guess I can hold on for a while then.
I'm waiting on the official only because I want to have a back up that is using a stable official build. LoL I feel much better about it.

Thanks to all who helped me with this. I managed to make an old laptop running XP on it work and did the update with Mini Kies. So happy now especially since I can use my GPS correctly. Looking forward to what is to come for the 2.2 update.
Once again thank you all for the help.

That's what I ended up doing as well. I couldn't get Kies mini to run on my XP virtual on Fusion on OS X, so I had to dust off the old XP laptop...and locate and delete a bunch of hidden Spotlight files on my SD card OS X had put there. Turns out those file names had extensions that were too long for Kies to deal with.
Come to think of it, I never got the "automatic" Market update either (the one that lets you "update all" from a single button).

Kies mini doesnt detect the phone, like a piece of ****... if you turn of debugging it crashes. Talked to smasung support, and they have no idea, but its a big issue if you search google...

Is there anyone that knows about this update. I was doing my homework, and then it just popped up. Im normally not one who updates, I usually update right before the next update is released. But i know the Honeycomb is still buggy so i would be willing to update.

It doesn't update anything and it is not worth updating....

This is a worthwhile update.its a firmware and Google is.and will add some function and address some of the known issues but yes it could bring other issues.I am in Kentucky when its pushed to me I will update.

i had my tablet from launch, 2weeks later i got an OTA update, that took my root away, and have been unable to get it rooted since. now im being told that this is the 3.1, but i am already running?????

wow, hows that for dumb luck, here we all are hanging,sweating & desperate for HC3.1 and hes tossing up whether to update or not, i think i will calmly just turn off my PC before i SnAp..... hehehe

OK,everyone so angry, yes I have been running 3.1 for about a month.
Now this update is pushing across. I guess ill try it. Not sure why everyone always wants to update, from my personal experience I have always had bad luck updating.

Haha I just bought one of these today, and as soon as I hooked it up to the internet I was told there was an update! And I'm in Alaska!! Or maybe it went out today and now I just look like an idiot! haha
