Anyone have the HBO go app? Its not showing up in the market for the tablet, but its shows up in my phones market. Unfortunately I can't use the app on my phone since its a droid 1, but I'd think the tablet would support it. If I dl it to my phones SD card, then put that SD card in my tab and move the app from the SD to the tab would this work?

Figures, the app can't be moved to the SD card. Anyone know of a work around? Or have the apk?

its not availed for android tablets yet.
I sideloaded the .APK to my tablet and it says it won't work on my device (Iconia), nor does it work on my Droid1. Seems to like HTC devices

i'm lazy, so instead of switching back and forth, i just have another browser handy and pull that up when you want to go to sites that you know work better in desktop mode. ;D i have dolphin send a desktop ua all the time, the stock browser android.
I have been watching HBOgo and Cinemaxgo through the browser every since I got the Acer 500a. I was so excited to be able to watch HBO on "the go" on a bigger screen than my iPhone 4. I heard today that they are supposed to have the "Go apps" available for all platforms in ist a couple of months. I hope my ears were not deceiving me. It would be a lot easier.

Hi
Does anyone know how I can stop my streak from displaying mobile versions of sites I view?
Thanks
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Its done siteside. There should be an option on the page you're viewing to view full site. Or have a look at the URL and usually it'll have m.URL.com or /mobile/ in it which you can change.
You'll need to run a browser that doesn't identify itself as a mobile version. Some browsers have an option in settings.

Type about:debug in the URL bar and press Go.
It doesn't seem like anything happens, but it does........press menu - Settings - now there's a "debuger" section, go to UAString and tap.........choose desktop.....now websites see it as a desktop........
Jenn over at streaksmart.com posted a how to not so very long after the Streak launched...its not 100% but it works for some sites...

Anyone know how to make this stick permanently? A lot of sites seem to ignore the user-agent string whenever I try it, or at least when I type "about:debug" and then go to the relevant settings section it's always set to "Desktop" yet sites ignore it and keep going to mobile versions! The root of the SD card seems to also get filled up with .trace files for each site visited while in the debug mode...
The lack of a permanent UA String change is extremely annoying for certain sites such as www.nationalrail.co.uk where there isn't a "full site" link anywhere and the mobile version is rubbish. The service specific app in Market for this website is £3+ as well!
Facebook is another website that completely ignores the user agent string and will go to mobile (or "Touch") sites regardless.
I know there's a free Android Facebook app, but I don't WANT to have to use an app, I completely agree with the RIM guy saying "there's a website for that"
Sometimes the website will behave when you do the about:debug cycle, but it's hit and miss whether it will still behave when you click any link! Full Facebook, for example, reverts to the "Touch" version when you click "home" at the top...
Please anyone, if you know how, please let me know how I can PERMANENTLY disable ALL mobile optimised sites? I don't want to EVER see another "m.website.com/wap" ever again!
I suggest you try using Dolphin HD Browser.
After I used it a few times, I've set it to my default browser and it works for every website I've tried so far.
It's from the market and free! In addition, there are no ads except if you use add-ons, and only show up when you run the add-ons. Alternatively, you can always buy a license.
The only add-on it comes with is bookmarks at the beginning, and I personally use a different color theme add-on. As long as you don't run either, you will not get any ads! The user-agent switcher is a built in functionality and not an add-on (in addition to a plethora of other options).

Thanks for the reply, I'll give it a go and see how I get on with it. Already tried Fennec and Opera and neither felt as good or fast as the stock Froyo browser...
Xscope browser kicks ass. Change ua agent to computer

Instal Dolphin HD then an add-on called 'desktop toggles', you can then switch between mobile and web view at will

Enter "about:useragent" in the address bar, and select the Desktop user agent.
It doesn't persist though, which is annoying!
Regards,
Dave
Also look at the foot of the web page concerned..... If it can go to Desktop you should see an option named 'Classic'. If so click on it to change from Mobile view to Desktop.
a former iphone zombie here, they had a sbsettings toggle called user agent faker... for android the equiv would be a toggle switch widget on the desktop?... not sure if its out there, been searching though. looking for a persistant toggle..

I can change the user agent, but seems not to be stored. if I enter again in "about:useragent", the "custom" option remains selected.
Or just download Dolphin HD browser, then in the browser,go to settings>Useragent and choose desktop instead of Mobile by default, worked great for me.
Dolphin HD browser + euro firmware did the trick for me.

Using Dolphin HD browser on US T-Mo, agent switched to Desktop and no luck - it would still go to mobile version. Same settings in the same browser on my EVO - no problem - always takes me to a full website. I hope there is some other solution. Otherwise it is very annoying not to be able to see full NY Times site...

Well! Too many of xda member faced this problem. But there is no such probbaly tweak to prevent the Tab access defaut webpage from it's stock browser.
Anybody has found a solution ? It's super annoying not to be able to see the "normal" websites given the form factor of the Tab...
Are you guys talking about the homepage? Or the fact that the stock browser reverts to mobile user agent upon closing? The stock browser will not save user agent settings after being closed. Download a new broswer. Don't rely on stock.

The thing is... why should you have to download a different browser just to be able to view web sites in desktop mode ~ and even then different browsers don't necessarily give you a desktop view.
As an example I have Dolphin HD installed and if you attempt to access either ITVPlayer or the BBC web site you get the mobile version.
sadly, you need to re-do the about:useragent everytime you completely close the browser. Also, on stock UK firmwares (Even JJ7) iPlayer doesn't work even with desktop mode selected. Need to be on JM6 or JMA for the fixed browser.

It works on JM6 ? OK, good to know
Try skyfire.
It works for mine (T-Mobile US version)
if you wants normal desktop browsing try Miren Browser and in the options set the Desktop version( or the ipad version, it works)
however,
some sites (like megavideo) will go further than a User Agent and try to guess if you are really on a desktop or not, to redirect you to some annoying ads and jo-games.com
if you want to avoid that use NetFront Live Browser, it's the best low level changer browser for android so far, you won't be dissapointed and its kind of tablet optimized.

Ok, so I do the about:debug thing on my Xoom because I like to view my sites in desktop view, but everytime I restart I have to do it all over again. Is there anyway to fix this other then rooting my Xoom?
There is a way but only works on the 3G. It's on the development forum.

For my work we use kinnser.com to track our patients info. We do receive efax and can attatch pdf into this online website. We can open these pdf from any computer. Calling kinnser support, they stated both Android and iOS cannot open the pdf from kinnser.com. I have tried on my rooted Evo running Mik 3.0, totally stock non-rooted Evo, Lenovo K1 tablet, and ASUS TF-101 to confirm this. When I click on the pdf attatchment, I would get the normal downloading started message. I would then click to view the progress of the download and it would stay at 0%. Would you know if there is something that is preventing me from opening the pdf from anything other than a PC? Thanks.
Not being able to download it is a different problem from not being able to open it. If you can't download it, perhaps they have a secure server or something. Are you trying to open from an email app or from a web browser?
Web browser
I currently have cm7 and as soon as I click a link in browser it automatically downloads the PDF. And is read with adobe reader app.
I cannot recreate this issue.

Since they told you the option want available on Android, I would assume that's specifically the website and that it wouldn't work. However you can try to set the user agent to desktop. I have been able to download files with Opera Mobile that wouldn't download with other browsers, perhaps you could try using the desktop ua with Opera and see if it works.
If not then I'd think you're sol without the website adding the ability.
Pure brilliant, that's it. I installed Opera and boom, I was able to open up the pdf in Kinnser. I guess the stock browser doesn't like to do it. Thanks everyone as always.

Glad you got it working. Opera Mobile has always been good about downloading files from sites that other browsers couldn't handle for whatever reason.

The other big reason I keep Opera installed as a backup browser is because of its support for "browse local device" on websites, a feature most android browsers shockingly lack.
