lol my ew statement was towards winrar, 7zip is so much better ;P
but yes i have a ns4g and its great got a custom kernel on it running smooth and fine

So for user that a little above a noob, is it worth the upgrade?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

well i mean it all depends.. the epic is getting gingerbread soon enough, with some help the cm7 team will get a bit more fixed to almost be worth using everyday.. if yall get cm7 working fully then when the nexty version hits yall will prolly get that one too and have a way to keep up in updates it boils down to the hardware aspect at that point..

there

I'm trying to restore from your backup, but I get the MD5 mismatch error. Anybody else getting this?

it's because of how it was packed. netarchy was walking me through some of it. he fixed the file for me not sure how though. and no i dont have it anymore to upload the fixed one. thats the reason why it doesn't work though. something about ignoring garbage data option or something. i can't remember i was really tired.

Can you re-up this? I need the WiMAXSettings.apk

Is it possible to find the stock recovery in this? I just want a backup in case any warranty issues arise.
or...
If someone could point me in the correct direction I'd appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Exciting news. Thanks for the link.
Yea, woke up today to find mt4g on clockwork recovery and kmobs twitter pic of a booted, yet very broken cm6. Thus begins the flashwars! All during the black ops release lol.
I'm so ready for this.
I'm permrooted, have custom recovery installed, made a nandroid backup, now all I need is this.
Waiting patiently.......
Amazing news, hopefully they remap the Genius button to Search in that rom.
This right here is one of the reasons im getting rid of my vibrant.

I don't think that kernel source is available yet for the MT4G.

Would the kernel source for the mt4g be required to get C6 running? Or, would it be required in order to run C6 optimally?

You use kernel source in order to compile a new kernel, although you can still create modded ROMS that use the stock kernel, and you can also create kernel modules to add functionality, until you have access to kernel source.
just when I thought this phone didn't need root. CM pops up his head.. damn it here we go again... Flash flash flash

Is that why we don't have overclock ability yet. The G2 processor is kicking our buts. (Keeping it P.G.)

this is what i was waiting for...had CM on my original mytouch, moved up to the 4g and have been waiting...
Definitely excited for this! I'm no sense hater but it is no CM for sure.

I would love to see some customized build for this thing that would keep some of the Espresso things or, better yet, keep HTC framework optimized with CM goodies. This way we can just push things we like to it.

StupidFast Kernal on DJ05

Hey , i downloaded this through rom manager this morning , now everytime my phone is off for more than like 5 minutes , it doesnt wake back up . Anyone else have this problem ? or know how to get back to stock kernal on DJ05? I dont know if its a process like voodoo was or anything .
Just flash the clockwork.tar in Odin. Simple, should fix the problem, likely your problem is due to an app of some sort, look through your app list and see if there is anything that you have installed since you slapped on stupidfast. Just a few prices of advice.

Hopefully a dev will correct me if I'm wrong, but you may want to odin the DJ05 update if that what you were running before stupidfast in order to get it back to stock dj05. The posted clockwork .tar file contains the DJ01 kernel, which I do not think is the same.
just go to geeknik stupid fast website and get 1.5 it works great
it wasnt the kernals problem was a theme . thanks guys .
Sorry if I have given any misguided info guys. I'm usually a Stardust user and abuser in the fascinate irc room but seeing as how I have a wedding in less than a month I have been a very busy man. And you sir who said that clockwork would flash DI01 Kernel I'm almost positive that you are correct sir.

I need a good rom

I just rooted my Epic, and I need to know, what is the best, most stable Froyo rom out?
Sent from my Epic 4G
they're all awesome.
They are all (mostly) stable.
Try one on and see how it fits.
If you don't like it, flash another. It's not too terribly addicting.
It all depends on what you are looking for. Me personally I like the Frankenstein rom but I had radio issues and switched to the midnight rom and it runs very well.

Why do questions like this even get asked? If there were ROMs that were inferior in every way, such that preference had no bearing... they wouldn't be on the first page or two of the forum.
You are going to have a favorite. Go start trying stuff like everyone else did.
Like I've said a million times that this question was asked. What works for others might not work for you. Flash to you find one you like
Sent From Da Hood.
When I first started flashing I had the same questions and it is nice to be pushed in the right direction. Which gain it is all personal preference. Some roms run better than others but then some roms have the theming that some people are looking for. So my suggestion is read through some of them and the change logs look at some of the screenshots in the threads and flash it if you like what you see. Once you have flashed a couple times you won't hesitate to do it again and again and again to try the different ones there are. I think I have tried 7 or 8 different roms on my epic and 7 or 8 when I had my evo and I was constantly switching from one to the next to the next back to one I had previously and so on depending on the updates that had been applied and the different changes that were made. So try them all then go back to what you like. When you have found what you like stick with it until another version comes out with an update try it and see if you like it. It does get a little bit addicting. It is very hard to brick an epic because of the capabilities of flashing back using odin. So don't hesitate in flashing as many as you like.
Thanks everyone, I'll start trying some tonight.
Edit: ok I found one that looks promising but I have no idea how these modem things work. I never had to do that to install roms on my hero. Anyway, how do I install a modem?

Follow instructions and you should be good. You can install other roms after this if you like.
Which method did you use to get to froyo?
I really hate to advertise, but I feel the need I guess... Frankenstein FROYO is going to come out tomorrow night, its about 94mb zipped right now and solid,I'm still working to make it even smaller, stay tuned...

I'd be interested to see how different it is. I liked your last version for the most part, but boot up time was way too long. Would be nice to see the additional apps/add-ons included so they don't have to be installed individually (or maybe provide them as a pack somehow?) In general, it's a great ROM though.

I would avoid odin as much as possible just my opinion, i would much rather flash the dk28 modem with the flashable zip and noobnls stock dk28 rom first:

Deodex manually?

How do you deodex a rom? I'm runnin stock eb13 and I'm happy as a baby armadillo on an ant farm
But id really like the aosp lockscreen. I hav to be deodexed but I don't want to get off of stock samung.exe eb13 because I know the deodexed odin one has problems that I currently do not experience.
So is there a way to do it? If not, then whatever ima have to deal with it, but id really like to know please... :3

Try the one click root verision 3.0.0.6 i think? it did it for me.
There is a flashable deodexed eb13 in the development section. Been working great for me. I think mammon posted it.
Edit: dameon posted it, its about 30 threads deep in the dev section.

I wanna be DEODEXED on eb13 just so I could install the gingerbread theme. but I don't wanna be EXT4 because whenever my battery pop's out (for whatever reason) when the phone is not shut down, I have to recover it. Which is a pain in the @$$!
But rooted stock EB13 with the RTF or whatever it's called fileing system is very stable and works great.

please help, i am bricked!!!

I was trying to unroot my epic so i could flash an EL039 rom on my phone and was using odin but noticed that the download bar was not appearing on my epic. I unplugged it from the computer and now just have an epic , exclamation point, and computer when i attempt to power up. i can still however get in to download mode. please help me.
1) you are not bricked if you can get to download mode
2) find the post for going back to factory. You will have to use odin. There is also a post something like "restoring from the brink". I think that one is a sticky. [Edit] it is in the roll up sticky thread in the development section. "[How to] restore a semi-bricked epic from the brink". Took two minutes to find on my phone... [/edit]
3) search before posting (not trying to be an asshole)

What a guy. I wish I had that much time and patience but good for you being so helpful.
Thank you everyone who was willing and helpful. I got it back up and right now on stock rom, EL30. Is there a rom out there that you guys prefer for both performance and candy?

I like cm7 for 2.3 (stable, themes on the market, awesomeness) and cm9 is still in testing phase and has its fair share of issues. Try both and see.
