You can try 3 different methods. First try flashing cwm3.0 twice from rom manager before rebooting. Second under the advanced options choose erase recovery before flashing new recovery. Third flash the recovery as a PC36IMG

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Stop using ROM Manager and do everything in Hboot or recovery.
The ONLY thing I use ROM Manager for anymore is to fix permissions.

Remove the -1 in the name, place the file on the root of your sdcard, and then flash in the bootloader.

Exactly!
Using Rom Manager on the Evo is like using training wheels on a racing bike. You're gonna wipe out!

Thanks guys I appreciate the advice and sorry again about this being in general

rom manager is not supported by the stock kernel- to use clockwork you need to use the one click on the dev forum
Can you use the Z4 method?

Happened to me too. Once you install Clockwork Recovery with Rom manager, turn off phone, then turn it on but hold the vol down and camera buttons until the samsung.com screen. Then viola Clockwork recovery.
Basically I got both recoveries on here after using the one click method. All apps that reboot into recovery goto stock which I do need a fix for.

Please post questions in General section.
do you have clockwrk mod recovery?
Download rom manager from the market and flash clockword mod recovery and then choose the "install zip from sdcard" option
Idk how update.zips work, but I never installed a rom using one lol

Are you trying to use the stock recovery or do you have clockwork mod installed?
You won't be able to load roms from the stock recovery. It checks for a valid signature before it flashes.
I don't have a pc I did the clockwork from rom manager

I had this problem too, when I rooted. Do a factory reset and retry the rooting. Once rooted, you wont have a problem with Clockwork Recovery.
You cant use rom manager to install clockwork. It doesn't work on the phones stock kernel.

CWM Problems

UPDATE: To fix 3.0.2.4 from not formatting /system
Open rom manager and select settings, and check erase recovery. hit menu again and select clear cache, then flash 3.0.2.4 again.
now if your in recovery and you cant boot back up to use rom manager, use the file below. It will allow you to restore your backup then once booted back up use the method above to fix 3.0.2.4.
The reason im leaving custom over 3.0.2.4 is bc i know fastboot flash with this one will allow you to restore without wiping recovery or clear cache or anything else.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/b8ejhqbf3tgnsoe/recovery.img - this is CMW 3.0.1.4 just altered for installing zips. linking for people needing a recover img to boot up
To install:
1. If in recovery, open ur terminal on ur pc and type adb reboot boatloader
2. Once in bootloader it will load fast boot and say fastboot usb in red
3. cd to the folder with fastboot.exe and also place recover.img in that folder
4. then enter fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
5. adb reboot recovery
6. restore your backup and boot up
RafficaX said:
Little FYI for all, cwm recovery wont format system on a restore. made a backup, tried a flash and went to restore and it fails formatting system.
So be careful with flashing and all bc yo may not be able to restore currently with cwm.
UPDATE: format system in menu also fails! be careful bc you pretty much cant restore or flash atm!

im really hoping Amon_Ra does do his recovery on T-Bolt. I like Rom Manager and its features but would rather loose features for stability and reliability on each use.

A custom compiled one 3.0.1.4, working on porting The Ultimate Droid to T-bolt so blackdroid also compiled cwm to make sure it would install the zip but has working restore. i messaged koush on cwm twitter about the issue so hopefully he fixes it quickly. only problem is the one im running you need to flash through fastboot with adb.
Thanks for the heads up I agree I always loved CWM on my N1 but it started giving me all kinds of grief for several different reasons so I finally went to Amon Ra.

yeah, if you go on their forums all they do is flame XDA left and right. But I find it funny since their roms take advancements from XDA developers and then they incorporate it into their roms...

Yes Clockwork 3.0.2.4 is borked on Thunderbolt. I've been helping people on AndIRC's thunderbolt channel all day. Install 3.0.2.2, it's given me no problems.

I ran into the same problem. I tried to do a restore and got stuck. I used an sd card reader and put the 3rd file from the root thread PG05IMG.zip on the root of my sd card. I then put the card back in. Rebooted into recovery holding the volume down and the power button. It reflashed the file automatically and I followed the steps from 7 on to regain root. Worked for me, but now I have to start over. Hopefully they will get CWM working again. I will be much more careful about what I delete from now on. I think I will freeze it in TiBackup first to make sure everything is still working correctly. Hope this helps.

Newest Rom Manager is 3.0.1.3 but the newest ClockworkMod Recovery for the tbolt is 3.0.2.4
Under flash clockworkmod recovery it stats the current and latest recovery.
My battery died and am in the same position. Got an expensive paperweight at the moment. I'll try to get another battery today and give this a try. After fooling around with it last night, the computer wouldn't even recognize the phone. Ughh!

Ra recovery?

I used rom manager to flash Ra recovery 2.3 and when I booted into recovery, it's still clockwork... any help?
Evo 4G
Cyanogenmod 7
you'll want to do it threw the bootloader...run the update once its found and your have ra recovery
I flashed ra through Rom manager fine

What do I name It to flash through bootloader
Evo 4G
Cyanogenmod 7
I put the zip file and install it automatic with bootloader, very easy.
http://goo-inside.me/amon_ra/supersonic/PC36IMG.zip
Drop that file on your sdcard, don't rename it or anything, and just boot into the bootloader. It'll ask if you want to apply the update, so pick yes. Ta-da!
did you follow the instructions for flashing Amon or are you trying to do it thru the software. Best bet is to do it thru bootloader like suggested

Make sure rom manager is up to date. A recent version had this problem.

Put this file on the root of your SD card....
Hold Power button and down volume, Bootloader will autodetect and ask if you want to apply the update. Say yes, then reboot into recovery.
You should have a good copy of AMON RA 2.3 BTW...the screen tears are normal.

rom manager

i flash alternate recovery which is amon ra from rom manager and now it wouldnt let me flash back to clockword recovery image. IT said flashed successfully but when i reboot to recovery it always takes me to amon ra and all my back up is in clockwork recovery is there any way to change back up from clockwork to amon ra?

You have to do it through a terminal emulator. Instructions in the link below:

I don't know if I agree with that statement. ROM Manager has a lot of great features and a lot of utility, but flashing one Recovery over another is something it's not doing successfully right now.
ROM Manager has only one GREAT feature; Fixing permissions. Everything else is suspect to creating problems. Flashing recoveries should be done in Hboot, the right way, not short-cutting via some semi-useless apk.

Have faced this problem quite a few times. Usually when ROM manager comes packaged with the rom I just flashed or when I am playing with the apps2sd commands. Reinstalling RM did it for me every time.

Very opinionated statement based on hear say. Totally disagree.
Reinstalling rm multiple times didn't help me either.I guess gonna have to use Amon RA from here on now on. I used rom manager for all my flashing didn't have single problem until I flashed Amon RA

ROM Manager has issues flashing one recovery over another. Hence the need to use a terminal emulator as the instructions I linked explain.

Glad that I could help you restore your clockwork, although I prefer using Amon Ra myself. I came across more issues using clockwork, especially when using Rom Manager.
