I was looking to do the same thing. Funny thing though, my evo was having a few issues so i took it to Sprint and they ate replacing it with a nexus s. Score!

If possible you should save your money up, there are a lot of good phones under 200 you can find on ebay. This phone is frustrating to use, with anything newer than donut, and this is coming from someone who has owned 3 generation of android phones(G1/MT3GS/MT4G). If you're interested in things like Ice Cream Sandwich you'll be better off with a newer device, you may not like android as much when you use a phone that's not capable.

If I'm not mistaken, the OG and 3D use different batteries.

I got an OG as a replacement back over the summer.

I was just wondering the same thing. My wife's phone is shattered and haven't had time or wanted to file a claim (would be #3-$300) and I don't want to file one just for the same EVO. Due for an upgrade in the summer so I might hold off on that or buy a phone off craigslist

Had a buddy get an OG EVO as a replacement just a week ago.

AFAIK they still have plenty of refurb OG Evo's left.

i got the OG super happy new evo is soooo nice haha, i cant believe how mean ive been to my phone , anyone know how to root new evo or can you do it same way?

No I had downgrade hboot, but I had to get rootacess by htc dev first then get super user on sd, then downgrade then use revoloutinaru, pain in the ass! Never want a new evo again haha

I just deleted everything lol it just goes straight to boot loader, which says s−off lol plus has a droid killing apple splash and ra recovery lol, so kinda olbvious
