My unlocked T-Mobile HD2 seems to be locked to the T-Mobile data connection and I want to use the O2 data connection.
I purchased an unlocked T-Mobile HD2 with the intention of using my O2 sim and the O2 data connection. It arrived with rom software that allowed a data connection to the O2 service. Then I upgraded to the latest rom on the HTC site but the only one that was available to me was a T-Mobile version (I expected an unlocked phone to run a non-network provider specific rom but now I have my doubts). In the data connection configuration form it states that the only connection available to me is T-Mobile which is no use to me.
What can I do to enable my phone to connect to the O2 data service if anything?
If you want to use the stock ROM you will have to set up the O2 APN settings on your HD2.
If you you want to use the stock 3.14 O2 ROM you need to flash HSPL 3.03 to your HD2 and then you can flash the stock O2 3.14 ROM. That is if O2 has a stock 3.14 ROM. Also what ever stock ROM you flash after flashing HSPL you need to make sure it does not have a 2.04.50.xx, 2.05.50.xx, or a x.xx.51.xx radio version. Cause these radios will brick a TMOUS HD2 (T-Mobile US).
Or you can just flash HSPL 3,03 and flash a custum Windows Mobile ROM. I think they have a auto detect of operaters and APNs.
I am totally new to flashing smart phones. I can't get 3.14 O2 ROM from HTC because their downloader will not allow it with my serial number. Logical I supose.
I assume my T-Mobile phone is not a US version. How can I tell?
It is correct to say that an unlocked T-Mobile phone will need "special treatment" to run an O2 sim and and to use the O2 data connection? It seems fairly obvious after the reasearch I've done. For example, not being about to flash the O2 ROM without using HSPL. I bought the unlocked phone in the belief that it was not tied to a network provider but the data connection still seems to be tied to T-Mobile unless I do a lot of special operations.
Send and end keys green and red = tmous,, all white keys = regular hd2,, if you're tmo UK, then its a regular and you can ignore the bit about avoiding certain radios, that scary stuff is tmous only.
Regardless of network/sim/carrier unlock, the phone is still and always will be rom locked to T-Mobile roms. Network lock and rom lock are totally unconnected.
As for getting roms, look in rom development, there's a official roms thread with links (first post first link) to many stock roms, and various serial numbers, (pm me if you absolutely need an o2 rom, you can use my serial) BUT it is not necessary to use an o2 rom just because you are on o2, there is no benefit, and plenty of downsides. Branded roms tend to have more bloat, for example.
When the rom first configures itself (after a flash or hard reset) it should automatically configure the data settings. (Even the t mo one,,, go to settings menu all settings and in one of the subsections should be a "connection setup" app, run that to configure o2 as the network, or do a hard reset and it should auto run connection setup) or you can download the connectionswtup.cab from various places and run it.
To install any rom, stock or cooked, except tmo you will need hspl. Get reading!

Hi everyone i need abit of help.
iv recently got a HTC TYTN from a friend but it has no network, the phone operates well and i can play mp3's and videos(everything works fine). But there is no network when i search for one it gives me all the networks i need but does not register itself on the network according to the sim im using. The only time it gets a network if i turn off and on flight mode then i will search for network, but this hardly works iv had the phone for a month and i only got a network twice, but if turn off the phone and back on again i have to go through the same flight on and off procedure to get a network.
Please help.
either the phone is blocked by the IMEI number or you need to upgrade the radio rom
look on the wiki there are links there for radio roms
If the imei is blocked then you are screwed as nothing will unblock it except the network provider that blocked it originally
thanks man. Will try how do i check my bootloader version and radio bootloader.
i wouldnt worry about the bootloader version click start > settings > system > device info and it will tell you the radio version there. are you sure that the device worked ok on the sim provider you are using. What i mean is ,is the hermes unlocked to any network ,have you tried a sim from another provider?
when swithed it on it does not ask unlock codes or nething. it goes through but no network. im in south africa and we only have 3 service providers MTN,VODACOM and CELL C.
CELL C works only if i turn off and on flight mode, i got it right once. I tried the other sevice providers and nothing works.
radio version is 1.18.00.10
But for this radio rom thing to work dont i need RadioBootloader version 107 or less
so if you put another providers sim in the phone do you get this sign ! where the ariel strength should be? if so it may not be sim unlocked. But that will show even if it has been blocked. Was your friend on a contract and then stopped paying it so he gave you the phone or did you buy it from him
Yip i do get this sign !. im not sure where he got the phone from. i never bought it from him.
if you havent done so already install HARDSPL you can find the link here and the instructions how to do it as well
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_HardSPL
thanks buddy gonna try it out.
once you have installed hardspl install this which will cid and sim unlock so you can flash any rom to the device and use any sim
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/HTC_Hermes_SIM_CID_Unlock_v3a.zip
I have a feeling though that your phone is blocked though mate, if it accepts one sim but not the others but worth a try anyway
You can download a new vision of your PPC's radio driver,I tihnk 1.47.30.10 is the best
Changing the Radio ROM isn't advised as this is a sure-fire way to brick your Hermes if something goes wrong with the flash.
If the phone IS blocked then no amount of OS or radio ROM changing is gonna fix.
Hello,
(I also posted this in the kaiser general forum, but figure this might be a more fitting place for it, in retrospect)...
I have an (apparently) unlocked MDA Vario III. I originally tried with a virgin UK payg sim, and also a T-Mo UK sim, but no matter what settings I try, whether on standard Rom/Radio, or custom, I cannot make the data connection work.
I'm currently on the stock T-Mobile Rom and Radio, with factory T-Mobile data settings. Even that, with an activated T-Mobile sim gives me the "Cannot connect to the network for an unknown reason" error message. I'm sure the APN settings are correct, and I'm sure that it's not down to a specific ROM, or Radio having tried many of each.
What else could be causing this? Have I scuppered the phone by trying to unlock it? Could it be the SPL? (That's the only non-stock thing currently on there). Is there a way to generate some kind of log from WinMo to work out what's going on?

I'm having a 'strange' issue where the phone part of my HD2 doesn't seem to work. This is an HD2 that was locked to T-Mobile, but is now unlocked. I have used it with my O2 sim for around a day and a half just fine until some time this morning it lost the phone connection, and doesn't show the operator for this reason. Obviously I can't make or receive any calls or send or receive any texts. The 'Phone' is turned 'On' in the Comm Manager settings, and I've tried to turn it on and off, hard reset, reflash ROMs, and so on.
I have flashed HardSPL and was using EnergyROM, but have now flashed back to the latest official HTC ROM (1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE) which has radio 2.06.51.07 and protcol 15.30.50.07U. I also tried HTC ROM 1.43 (radio 2.04). Before flashing the official ROMs, I had not flashed any radios so it was left as the original that came with the phone.
The 'strange' part is that mobile web/internet works fine. When reflashing to stock ROMs (or any ROM for that matter) it finds the SIM just fine and recognises it as O2, and comes up asking which settings I want to use (it finds a couple of valid possibilities, O2 UK, Tescoe Mobile and one other), so it must find some sort of network.
Has anyone had any issues like this? Is there anything I can do, or is this a case for contacting HTC?
The SIM works just fine in my old Touch Pro.
Thanks for any help!
OK, So I am not sure exactly what I did, but I was running DFT_Android ROM without any issues but wanted to try the NexusHD2-Gingerbread ROM. After flashing (successful) I wasn’t able to get on to my cellular network, wireless LAN, or even see the device through Windows (Aside from USB Mass Storage). So I decided to flash back to DFT_Android…
Well now I can search for network operators and I see mine (Bell) but I can’t connect to it. If I try to set up and APN it asks me to choose an operator, Vodafone or Vodafone Business.
What the heck is going on? Did the ROM write to my SIM?
Where do I go from here? How do I get back on my carriers network?
Here are the current software details:
HTC HD2 Telstra
Baseband: 15.42.50.09u_2.14.50.04
So I swapped out the sim card with another working sim from another account and it worked right away... So my question is... Is it possible the sim became carrier locked to another carrier? Is that possible?
If I put my original sim back in I get the same message...
Your original SIM is probably just bad. I would request a new one from Bell.
Hello,
I live in The Netherlands, and my mobile operator is Tele2. I installed Android 2.3.7 on my HTC HD2, with Radio Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14.
But I can't send an SMS, or call a number, becasuse the network is not available. The network is also not available on Windows Mobile 6.5.
Which Radio ROM does work the best with Tele2 (The Netherlands). Or is there another solution for this problem?
Is HD2 network locked or have hardware issue ?
I would do clean install of generic WM6.5 from links in the HD2 Wiki .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_HD2#Official_ROMs_.26_Radios
If get it working on that then move to another platform.
I flashed some Radio ROMS, but they all don't solve the problem. I already flashed the stock Windows Mobile 6.5 OS, and also that doesn't work.
Borrow a sim from someone and see if it works
I tried it with my own Tele2 SIM card, and with a Vodafone SIM card, both don't work.
Did you recently buy the phone?
Or is it your old phone which worked and when you tried android it stopped working?
I recently purchased the phone from someone. He said it was working. When I got the phone, I flashed a new Radio ROM and Windows Phone 7, and did not check if my SIM card was working with Windows Mobile and the original Radio ROM. Now, I flashed Windows Mobile 6.5, but it is not working. Also Android doesn't work. I tried most of the Radio ROMS.
@Mister B will know more than I about this, but I think it is locked to a specific carrier, eg O2
Just to be sure, is it EU model (white call & end call buttons) or tmous model (green and red)?
The phone has white call & end call buttons, so it is the EU model. The previous owner did not know if it was locked to a specific carrier, because his SIM card just worked with the phone. How can I get to know if it is locked to a specific carrier?
I would have thought flashing hspl would have done it, and you have already done that to get wp7 on it previously.
Not sure
I flashed 2.08.HSPL on the phone with HSPL4, to get Windows Phone 7 and Android running.
I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28342560&highlight=carrier+locked#post28342560
in which Mister B mentions that the phone might be blocked due to an unpaid bill or stolen. Worth a read for you possibly.
Where did you get it from?
I don't think that's the case. I thought the problem was the Radio ROM, maybe I need to get a Radio ROM which works with Tele2 (Carrier)? If yes, I don't know which ROM.
I got the phone from a Dutch site where you can buy and sell things. And the previous owner used the phone with Vodafone.
Does the device actually know a sim is inserted or does it always show as no sim present ?
Showing as no sim present would be good indication of hardware problem.
If sim locked or blocked IMEI it will show sim present.
As such any of the main HD2 radios will be fine with your network & would allow full radio function if all else good.
I always fault find on original HD2 WM6.5 or a trusted WM6.5.x custom rom.
Dead sim reading is not that uncommon & can be mainboard issue or even the sim holder so worth looking at sim holder a little.
Most of the used HD2's sold online are faulty mainly due to amateur repairs so good chance that the case here.
There is a SIM inserted, because I need to enter a PIN code for the SIM. But I when I try to send an SMS, it says the network is not available. I get that message with Windows Mobile and with Android.
Does your sim work on another phone?
Yes, the SIM works on another phone.
I would say then it either network sim locked or IMEI blocked or radio hardware issue on mainboard.
Worth gong into phone settings & checking radio bands & try manual connection to varying networks.
Ideally want try all this on generic WM6.5 & reflash radio after rom flash (try radio n my signature)
You could also try an unlock by cable at local shop !
After that you stuck really ...
