Hey ,,
can someone root Cyanogenmod 7 or Cyanogenmod 6 android roms to A101??
Is it possible??
For the thousandth time:
No, there is no Cyanogen Mod on Gen8
We have only one Rom: Urukdroid, but this one is goood Try it.
Why you want exactly Cyanogen?
Why you want exactly Cyanogen?
Because It supports Arabic and other languages
but Uruku not support them
Aahh, thats the problem
ask sauron whether he can add this feature
Otherwise you have to live with english
until we get a custom recovery
hmmm
Ok then we must wait for that
If Cotulla is here he can do it easily
@saprano614:
Why do people thing that CM7 needs a recovery?
THERE IS NO NEED FOR A RECOVERY ON GEN8.
If you get someone to compile the CM7 with all the specifics for the gen8 ( f.ex. display via usb ) and some other things it is easily done, as $auron has allready proven with UrukDroid.
So please all stop wining about a recovery.
Moved to proper forum.

Thanks for enlighting us/me
I want to learn about android developement (at the moment i test solune's Urukconfig),
could you tell me: what is an recovery? (I dont think its a recovery what recovery you data/apps/media like on a pc.)
"The Recovery" is kind of an extended bootmenu for the devices where you can flash new ROMs or make a backup so that you can get back to where you are.
Normally it also comes with alot of custom scripts for root, displaydensity, cleaning caches, memhacks etc.
This is needed on other devices because they don't habe a SDE.

Okey, but if thats true i've another question:
Why nobody test some Roms from other Tablets/Phones on our Gen8?
It's true we have SDE that let us use UrukuDroid !!
That mean we can have other versions of roms like Cyanogenmod 7 or 6
Why nobody test some Roms from other Tablets/Phones on our Gen8?
this is good question ,,
why we don't try other roms like HTC HD2 !! It uses many many roms !!

Impossible is not French
@cajl:
That's not true.
CM7 is just one of many kernels done on the google basiscode.
If you could get the display to work and get the drivers of the other stuff in there it is just the work to get the initramfs to do the wireing of the partitions.
So if some of the cracks from the cm team would start with a "port" they would probably be ready before the end of the week.
I know, why don't one of you send the Cyanogenmod guys your Archos so they can get it done? lol

cm7 is not ''just'' a kernel and we have no indication how long it will take the cm7 for sgs is in the making for month and they have some great devs
it could be easy but to be honest i would bet money that we will never have a stable cm release
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
You are partially right, but the kernel part is the harder one to port, if that is done ....
But you are right with timing.
Even on my milestone it took them so long and roms like froyomod are alot more stable.
I know this is developement section and i should not post like this but i want to tell that whenever i open this developement section i see some new froyo custom roms or rom upgrades with several new features , nothing more. I think it is enough creating roms like v1.0 then v1.1 then v1.2 then v1.3 and so on. Galaxy 5 uses enjoying cyanogen but we can't. All devs are in the race for providing better froyo roms but no on one wants to provide cyanogen, why? because it is not possible. If port of cyanogen is possible in g5 then not in g3. G3 is better phone then G5. Shall we have to satisfied only with froyo roms? All devs are giving their best but it is enough creating new version of froyo in every week, do something new, port CYANOGEN which we really wants.I don't know anything about programming, coding, i can't do anything but all u devs are able to port cyanogen to our device. So please stop doing like v1.0=>v1.1=>v1.2=>v1.3 and do Cyanogen. All devs please combilne at one place and give us CYANOGEN.
Cyanogen can be ported to our phone. I have no idea how can i do this, i may give it a try in summer but i will fail, it is sure. But i will start to learn coding, & kernel compiling (the basics).
Maybe a few of the devs come together, make a team and then work on this
m ready to learn and try
you are right but seriously its not EASY! you should have very good programming skills... and why is CM so good anyway? i would prefer MIUI port. when you say cyanogen mod i assume you mean the latest GB version? what is so great in GB anyway? i mean yeah its newer than froyo but still, i have my own tablet and it runs 2.3 (3.0 is coming ) and i dont think its that great... i like the edge glow and on/off animation but thats it. we CAN have the same features on froyo! and besides IF we would port GB it would take so much time that android 2.5 would be out already and then everybody would say that GB sucks... thats all
It's a lot lot of work to do it.

In fact, you must start from source files as you must compile all. No ?
In example, for gingerbread, I started compiling it from google source, but I'm stuck with libaudio library.
I took libaudio source code from sgs and I will see if I can compile them and continue.
In addition, you should adapt kernel 2.6.35 for the apollo device, and that's a big work too.
Or if we are lucky, kernel 2.6.32 could work ... I don't know.
I know it is not easy but please devs do something. If porting once started we will defenetily get Cyanogen.
The thing is cyanogen takes alot of time and there's no encouragement so I say whoever devs GB then I will donate £10 to them and I know many others will.

well do that as soon as the guy who already did that will release his mod
We shall ask motafoca for help, he does not have a sg3 but has a lot of knowledge and experience porting Gingerbread to sg5!
Once we have some clue or knowledge on how to start with we then can try/experiment ways to accomplish CyanogenMod.
Some proof for Sg5 having 2.3>here
As for people who want to port GB or Cyanogen flores said in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=13132913&postcount=51 that he has already done work on gingerbread so i guess devs like apollo or other people who have experience in the kernel front can have something to work upon....... what i mean is there are a few devs who have mentioned about their incomplete works on Cyanogen/gingerbread, if an experienced developer can combine all their individual work we can have something actually working........

True is that we have too many custom roms, but changes only name and theme. We can customize everything in froyo rom, but we need to have some1 who can customize kernel! We have one kernel by our hero marcel and thats all! His kernel is used by every rom here. Always same:
New custom rom!
Same features as another rom
Thanks to marcellube for his kernel

We need MORE KERNELS!!!

First and foremost i wanna send my thanx and admiration to Crowds for his amazing work with this ROM. Everything he has done has been amazing.
I am hoping to continue the work that Ricardo has done and carry on the expantsion and updating of this rom.
But i am new.
This will be my first ROM.
So i am calling for your help. I need to know what i need to do.
-What proigrams are the best to use
-How has Crowds done this work so far? I know its a port of FXP and MIUI, with some ICS elements but which? Do i start with FXP then blend MIUI over it? If so which parts?
-Which version of FXP (7.2 or 9.0)?
-Which version of MIUI?
Basically i am starting from scratch with the whole ROM dev. I am fast learner, a fellow geek, and i want to do this right. Please bare with me because i may ask stupid questions at times. I just need help.
So far i have a few things to read up on and try out. For now im just going to be faffing around seeing what i can do. But my main objective is to update and upgrade the current ROM with the new versions of FXP and MIUI. Then once i am confident with it i have a few ideas of my own that i want to try.
So far i have these that im going to read up on. If yuou have anymore sugestions or and info for me....please send my it

The good combination will be MIUI\CM9, because its newest thing what we can get, but its gonna be hard to do, specially if you do not have any previous knowledge about porting, developing, so for now you can start with fxp CM7.2
First get stable ROM, then start with modification of same one,my suggestion.

Almost CM 9.0 FXP !
Because 7.2 is Old ,
You need New Source & New Design !
i get that cm9.0 is the new and best one. but obviously im new to all this.....so i wanna know which fxp crowds was using and just start my expedition by updating what he has done....i know fxp has released cm7.2 AND cm9.0 both with fxp106
As im new i wanna start by following the road set before me.
So far this rom is FXP052 and miui
but which miui? and is it already cm9.0 or is it just cm7.2? porting a whole new rom to the one will be a big peice of work and i am brand new to this
It's a great initiative and I really gotta add the importance of the RTL fix for Arabic & Farsi Support, as I've installed the BlackEditionHD FXP25-MIUI but none of the RTL patches work as I do even know which MIUI version is being used?

Hey guys.
I am new to android developing.
I started by porting the CM10.1 ROM from HTC Desire, but my phone is stuck at the Huawei logo when it boots up.
I can still flash another ROM, but that is not the problem.
I want to know how to fix this. I want it to go past the Huawei Logo.
By the way, I used this procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598713 and I used Aurora ICS 5.0 for the base ROM. I know it doesn't have the same version of android, but there is no reason I shouldn't be experimenting like this.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

I found out that there was a problem with the base ROM.

But there are four things that are not working:

- Cam Recording
- Sound
Can you guys tell me how to fix the audio? In the logcat, it says that there is no sound output.
Thanks

I have just ported the Jelly Bean from u8800pro to u8800non-pro, so I will be working on this ROM.
Seriously, I have no idea when I will be releasing a fully functional ROM. Because I have my studies as well, so I don't get much time to work on the ROM.
The audio is working in this ROM (wasn't working in the previous port),
The things that are currently not working are:
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- Video Recording
I will try my best to do as much as possible.
I am new at building android ROMs, so please don't expect too much from me
I will be needing some help from other developers as well.
Do you think I should make a thread for this? or is there already enough not-fully functional JB ROMs there?

I know how you feel. I also feel that way.
I would like to build Jelly Bean from source, like Blefish is doing right now, but I need a 64bit computer for that (mine is only 32bit. Unless there is a hack for this, I can't build from source.
I think everyone is going to start porting Jelly Bean ROMs until one starts working. :silly:
Everyone is porting the rom with the intention of making ir fully working and then abandon development. Why don't you and others continue the work that is already done instead of making a new port which will end up like the others.
Like your are having compatibility issues due to your 32bit computer, perhaps our device is incompatible with JB...

Our device will remain compatible with every new android untill android will be using some new architecture of processor, so "sometimes it's better to stay silent".
OP, abandon your trials of getting a working JB using copy-paste ports. It can be only ported from source.
P.S.: just install ubuntu x64 and try to build something like CWM recovery out of forumber's source. If it builds, you can build anything you want. Today's computers know how to emulate x64. I'm myself using an old pentium d 820 (i386, sse2 and that's all) and I can build.

Now I and others also pick up a JB Rom, mod it here and there and then instead of 4/5 roms we can have dozens. Then again non working well. This makes sense?

So I can install ubuntu x64 on my x86 laptop? Are you talking about a virtual machine or installing ubuntu x64 on the actual laptop?
And as for others: Instead of saying that JB is not compatible with our device and all that sh*t, why don't you encourage me and give me some solutions.
Anyways, I am not posting this JB ROM until it's fully functional, because I might stop development as well (getting interested in firefox os).

First of all, your CPU must support x64,If it supported, you can install x64 to you computer.
If you want install x64 system in virtual machine (like VirtualBox),you CPU must support VT-x or AMD-V (virtualization).
You can check virtualization and x64 support via SecurAble;

Relevant post - some starting info, and check out the CM wiki he links to. Also, and this is a very basic step, but if you've never done this before it can be informative: download a rom zip file (preferably but not necessarily a stock-based kitkat rom for this device) and open it up in either 7zip or WinRar, check out the layout and structure, and familiarize yourself with the updater-script. (Actually you can do that with a firmware tar file too). Sorry I can't give you any more useful info, not a dev, definitely not a rom designer, just a guy who knows a fair amount of android stuff.
Also don't let the tone of that post discourage you; the poster was answering a guy who was basically asking about the feasibility of building a brand new rom for the sole purpose of being able to use one particular proprietary Samsung app. Yes it is difficult, but still doable, and you say you're motivated...
Yes i did forgot to say that any links for learning are appriciated
Well.. I would ask moonbutt74 for more info regarding commands and such, probably more info than I can give but.. keep in mind your going to have to download about 20+GB of source code and all that. Also a bunch more knowledge of more things I don't remember. But it is alot

Well I decided to revisit this thread. Never thought I would come so far. I really want to say thanks to all of you who supported me and still support me. Everyone has a beginning and here was mine. Now I am actually there where I really wanted to be. Releasing a custom kernel and finally work on a custom ROM! Thank you XDA!

I'm amazed on how much people learn and achieve as well as myself. I've seen people who were total newbies then later built custom recoveries, CM12, Mods, Roms etc. Anyway good luck on working your rom!

Also I thank you my life for introducing me to moonbutt74. He learned me everything from how to work with custom kernels to Roms. Sadly he decided to stop developing a few Werks ago but he's doing it for his own good. I still will mention @moonbutt74 on my future projects because he really is the one who changed me from confused to knowing what is actually going on. So thanks allot !
