[Q] Have you received the updates on XOOM (wifi)? - Xoom General

Hi folks,
I bought my XOOM (WIFI only) in USA, and brought it back to China. Some news said Google has released some updates (proxy, etc) for the XOOM at the end of April. Just want to double check, have you received the updates?
I never pay attention to the registration. Shall I register my XOOM in motorola/us/registration?
Thanks,

There have not been any updates for wifi only Xoom. Wifi only has the latest version out of the box.
There was news (on 28 April) that there will be a update, but this was false news.

Agreed... US stock WiFi Zoom and no update here either...
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk

I havent received any official notice of update... but I noticed a few weeks back that the stock browser wasnt as crashy as usual.... so I went digging in the app list and find that my browser shows version 3.0.1-110420... which seems to indicate a build from Apr 20th.... I'm pretty sure the original version was March 3rd or something. Anyone else notice this?

I don't think the build number refers to a date.
The original 3G browser was 3.0-101999 and the current one is 3.0.1-109065

That update at the end of April was for the 3G Xoom only.

The update was never released.
Also I don't think they will seperate OTA updates between wifi and 3g devices, besides maybe which batch gets them first. I don't see why they would need to do that.

Reports coming in that Xoom Wifi owners have received the updates today!

Hey Xoomers! It appears that wifi-only xoom owners are also having the updates pushed to their tabs also! I have not received it yet, but be patient, looks like all Xooms are being updated!
https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/380602#380602
could be an accident. looks like people over there are getting silenced about the update
From the sounds of it, this was meant to go out to their preview members only. I guess someone jumped the gun and didn't bother to let them know they weren't supposed to talk about it.
Which is only a guess, since the corporate rep on the forums has been very vague - only a single post with a "maybe" and then a bunch of posts insisting that people who have stated they got an update check their email.
I wonder if Motorola has really internalized the fact that there are, like, four or five other vendors for these tablets coming out in the next few months - many of them with very, very similar hardware. Not communicating with their tech-savvy audience seems like a poor way to convince people to recommend their tablet over others.
They need to share this ****!!!

i got the update on my WIFI ONLY xoom i tried installing it it crashed on the android with exclamation mark, so i restarted and its back on 3.0.1 and says its up to date
DAMMIT
not only in usa
also reported in my country
Seems moto launch a experiment
This is pretty disappointing. The update obviously exists and works on the wifi xoom but google won't release it yet probably just to make Verizon happy.
Are people really going to go out and buy 3g xooms just because the update on Verizon came first.

Hmm Being in Denmark and having purchased a US Xoom Wifi I wonder what to do. (Stock 3.0)
So I did the following ...
Added a VPN tunnel to USA. (had previosly brought VPN access)
Set the date 1 day back, to let the Xoom look for updates.
" no cigar! "
Set the date 1 day forward (today´s date)
Still no luck -
I wonder if the update is really rolling out
Can Anyone confirm Xoom Wifi is really getting 3.1 right now ?
Is there Anyway to "push" it - (besides the date change procedure)
Have a good one

I also have a US WIFI only Xoom in Europe and i'm impatient
I downloaded the update from development forum, made a host USB cable and updated my Xoom manually.
I must say that everything that i hoped for is fixed in 3.1, so i'm really pleased with my Xoom now.

I'd also like to hear more about your update experience and see how you made a usb host cable.
Will probably require a new thread.

Read the Guide thread, all information is there, including a link to how to make a host cable. If something is still unclear, then just ask.
Not according to my conversation with Motorola today. Can you buy a wi-fi only from Verizon? Just wondering if those are still branded differently and that's why they're getting updates.
For now 32GB is plenty for me so I'm not exactly screaming for the SD card update. But I will be a little disappointed if I have to wait weeks for my update when Verizon got theirs already. There were several items in the list below that I was really hoping to take advantage of. I'm not exactly crying over the update just yet though, because I'd rather do the official OTA update than download directly like others have been doing. However, I will pre-qualify all this with...the rep I spoke with didn't seem to be the most knowlegable and appeared to be reading from a script based on the responses I was given to some other questions I asked. So take this with a grain of salt.
Ann: Motorola XOOM with Wi-Fi tablets and other variants of Motorola XOOM will receive the update within the next several weeks.
frost: will this update include the sd card support?
Ann: It does not.
frost: will that fix be implemented any time in the near future?
Ann: It's enhancements are:
● Enables movie services including Android Market Movie Rental via full HDCP / DRM support
● Enables support for full Adobe Flash 10.2 release
● Picture Transfer Protocol Feature Support
● Bluetooth(R) support in Gtalk
● Bluetooth(R) mouse support along with further Bluetooth(R) headset support
● Adding Proxy support for Wi-Fi network
● Resizable widgets
● Additional shortcut key support for Bluetooth keyboard
Ann: Yes. A future software upgrade will enable the SD card.
So I've changed my Date & Time and still haven't recieved my 3.1 Update for my Wifi Xoom.
Any suggestions....???? (Besides being patient...... just can't do that....)

Has anyone else with a Wifi model got there update today?

Just got Asus TF - how and when it will be updated to official 3.1

Hello,
Just got my Asus Transformer 16GB from Walmart...so excited!!(ummm don't be jealous - you will get your own once it's available widely JK )
Ok - I turned on the TF - and does anyone know when/how long my TF will get the 3.1 push from Asus? Or I have to download from support.asus.com web site and manually update it
Thx,
rcjpth
Wondering the same thing here. I went ahead and downloaded the FW update at the asus website, but i can't get the tab to pick it up once i transfer it. I'm new at this so any help would be appreciated!
Same here.. I'm not even sure if it's currently wise to upgrade to 3.1 with all the issues people have noted it having.
No issues with 3.1 here and Asus actually pushed it to my device.

How long was it taken so your device received the update 3.1? I'm wondering should I be updating it manually?
Thx,
rcjpth
The update seems to be rolled out by algorithm unknown - some has had to wait days to a week before they receive their update, some get it immediatly.
I received mine the day after the official release in UK. I did a manual check just a few minutes to early, because I received a message that there where no updates available. A few minutes later I get the pop-up about a firmare update being available.
Took me just past an hour, make sure you have more than 50% battery.
I was out of range from 5/31 - 6/6 (evening)... When I returned it connected to my network and immediately DL'd the update - took about 10 minutes.
I have had my TF since May 5th, 32GB.

Same here. I guess I just have to be patient.
Got update on Thursday, as soon as I opened the box. WW version in Australia.
Yayyy - 2 hours, no update insight yet - no plan to root it because basically nothing special to run or backup - software or purchased apps are stored in market - be prepared for Netflix,,,patient and patient ---- one day Netflix will be played on Asus TF! hhehehe
Alright - I activated my Transformer at 2:55pm and now at 8:30pm it said it got the update - proceeded to the update
For my case, it took almost 5.5 hour to get the update delivered to my TF
Thx all
rcjpth
My 16GB had the update waiting when I first opened the box and turned it on. I went ahead and updated.
But then I found out you can't root with 3.1 yet, so I had to downgrade to 3.0.1 again so I could flash Primordial 3.1.
So don't even bother waiting for the OTA update since you won't be able to root anyway.
I got mine a week ago from Asus OTA. I went to check updates in Settings>About and it said none available, then shortly after I received a notification that an update was available.
Got my update earlier. I did a factory reset and after the initial setup, I went to try and check for update and it found it on my second attempt.
So far youtube has been fine. I dunno about battery life, yet. I've been using it pretty much all day so it's draining quickly.

3.2 OTA in United States??

Hey has anyone gotten the 3.2 OTA in the USA yet? I'm in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA (outside of LA); but I bought the device in Portland, OR..Idk if that makes any difference though.
3.2 Update
I got the OTA update to 3.2 here in the USA yesterday. New York
Model A500
Version 3.2
Kernel Version 2.6.36.3+
Build Number Acer_A500_7.0006.01_Com_Gen1
I'm in the CA central coast & no update
Still waiting here in eastern MA
Negative in Rhode Island.
I'm not sure I want it based on some of the negative 3.2 threads

Got it here in MA. If you have rooted your device and haven't done the OTA, I suggest you wait even if it does come available to you. There is no way to root 3.2 and you will lose CWM if installed. So once you get it youre stuck with 3.2/no root till someone figures it out.

Oh, that's why? What's the difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2? I thought there's only one hardware, I think I saw the hardware info somewhere when I checked it on the tab, and it said rev. 1.
I'm in Socal, and so far nothing, I even went into the settings and manually checked a lot times. But as I said in another post, I doubt the location is what Acer used to decide which to upgrade first. It will be very easy to decide which country your device is in now from your IP, but other than that, it'll be hard to see where you are in the country. And to actually get a GPS location for this upgrade purpose is just an over kill, waste of their time to even develop anything like that and put in the software. If Acer needs to devide the whole population into groups to avoid congesting, there are a lot other ways to do that.

[Q] No update

No ICS update on stock unit with Acer enhancement installed. I live in Toronto Canada and have not had the update as of yet. Apr 27 8:30 am. Does anyone know if this is normal ie: still rollout by serial number.
I'm also in Toronto. No update yet...but I'm in no hurry...not until I understand the potential collateral damage...like apps that don't work etc.
+!.
Still waiting in Nova Scotia.
Nothing yet in Montreal area
Nothing yet in PEI either.
If you haven't received the update yet, check to see if you've received the ICONIA TAB Update Enhancement from the Play Store.
It just came through after I updated.
The Acer Enhancement was made available in the play store several weeks ago. I agree that it has some funcionality with the ICS upgrade however your note mentioned that you recieved it after you updated, do you mean after you were upgraded to ICS.

I got mine in Illinois this morning at like 9 am. I had a gen2 version of honeycomb.
You have to update the Iconia Tab enhancement app. It says it's required to update to ICS
mine was not pushed an update, but I went to setting/about/update, and did a manual check, and there was this ICS update, and I did it at about 6:30am PST.

You know what? I'm not sure now. I could've sworn I read an article saying there was, now the only reference I find is for T-Mobile S7's getting a performance update.
I was on rooted stock PI2 and accidentally said OK to the OTA and it sent my phone into bootloop. Had to start from scratch.
Is the current root stable enough to use as a daily driver?
