[Q] SE included stuff (programs, language) in custom ROM's ? - XPERIA X8 General

So, my problem is next
I would like to put some custom ROM to my new Xperia X8, but I need Exchange Activesync Mail for my work.
SE included Roadsync application which I use for this.
any other application I found needs to be payed for, even Roadsync if I want to install it on some other device.
but I allready payed it with my X8 so I should have it for free if I change OS?
so what's the situation with this, and what are my possible solutions?
and what about other stuff like that (wisepilot...)?
and the other thing is about language.
SE ROM has everything in Croatian. I allways used english with every device I had because Croatian translation was funny.
But in X8 Croatian is very good. And that includes Android translations (menus, icons...), keyboard chars and dictionary.
I would really like to keep this
is it possible?
thank you for your answers in advance!

u only get it for free if u use the OS that SE provides, tho what i can think of is rooting your phone then going into /system/app folder and locate the respective .apk files, then installing them again when u change OS. of course if SE put dependencies all over the place then u're pretty much screwed unless u can find them and put them back in the proper places.
as for the croation translation u need to find out if the custom rom supports croation tho the translation is bound to be different from SE's original 1. if none of them do then maybe u can contact the rom developer to see if they're willing to make the translation for u.
bear in mind tho that if u install a custom rom u lose all support from SE and whatever free software that may come along with it. the "free" stuff that u're talking about comes in a package, not individually.

thank you for answer
I just hoped devs include this stuff, because that was the case with my HTC Touch Cruise. DEV's usually included all of the HTC stuff in the ROM.
But OK. the problem is that I need Activesync mail.
I think that nowdays it's essential thing for everybody that need mail for work.
Is there some free app that work good?
I couldn't find it myself.
I can do without everything else SE included.
and regarding language, is there a way to extract this stuff out of ROM and make some app or something that can be included in any other ROM after it's installed?
I saw there's a lot of people from Croatia on X8 forums, some with very big knowledge, so if there's a way maybe somebody will do it
I can use english like always till now (and will for better ROM), but now that I know there's good Croatian translation, it would be nice to have it.

german version of the xda-developers rom 1.2

hi guys
first of all thanks a lot for your work, it helped me out a lot and especially letting me get to know my new device much better and easier.
i just have some hard time setting up your xda special rom image. with an english version built in linux flashed with the bootloader way and xdarit.exe, it worked out fine but when i tried to built my own german version, it just shows the splash screen, at the lower right corned it show that the system initialised (with this g32S54 ; R3.17.01 message written in red) but than it just freezes and cannot be started.
i somehow tried it with a german t-mobile image, an old o2 image and the newest o2 image and i got the same problem everytime.
is there a way to get the german version running ? since i'm in need of the special signs or does your mkrom script just runs on an english image ?

To be honest, we never really tested mkROM much on German versions. But there's new developments on the horizon, and you may like what's coming...

What do you mean with that??? A universal multilanguage SE??? Special german ROM???
Please give more details...
Hi All,
English is ok for me. I just would like to get a german qwertz keyboard on it.
If anybody has freeware suggestions let me know.
regards,
Silver
did you mkrom, to extract the xipchain from your rom?
the offsets used in mkrom may need to be changed. currently these are all hardcoded for the qtek rom. have not looked at other roms.
thanks for the hint, i'm just about to try that, just did not recognize this xipchains script. but i'm working on that.
but since my knowledge is not that good it may take a while...
more hints are welcome .
actually this german qwertz keyboard is the most important thing for me too.. but having also a german language just makes navigating much quicker, and since there are a lot of people around here being interested in your special rom, because the original once just suck and are totally unusable. and yours seems to run very stable...

Sorry, no freeware, but there is an application called calligrapher, wich is a handwriting recognition thingy, far better than transscriber. It can use custom dictionaries and has a better keyboard included with it. I use it all the time with a dutch upgrade. You can get the german one if you like and youll have the qwertz keyboard. (Because of a bug, the dutch version also has qwertz).
I have also tried to built a German one...see http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1490&highlight=dolo
So I am even not sure if my Linux solution is the right one, or the hardcoded stuff is tricking me.
so any clue on how to get mkrom on German ROM running is apreciated.
Dolo
just checked the 3.19.01 german rom, the MISC block is larger than in the qtek rom. now it is partially overwritten by the XDA_DEVELOPERS1 block.
you would have to change the start of xda_developers1 to 81840000,
and also make it smaller, since not everything will fit anymore.
hey that sounds cool, but how do i do that ?
deleting some files out of the files2 directory ?
and how do i set the start block ? sorry did not have enough time to read through all the readme and how to files...
thanks a lot

Hello, The King! I think it's really difficult to translate a whole O.S. it is possible, but since a single O.S. has hundreds of strings (text) it would take months to years to make a good translation.
I think that there are tools, but, sorry, I don't know their names. I'm sure that any ROM cooker would provide you with the info.
Good luck!

U can ask cookers certenly they know files and the best u can get is to uppack installation package, get language files (i think they are numbered instead of saying like: english, they have somthing like "0409" files and all that has that typo of number indicates us to a lang file) So u can try to extract it and then for exemple with TXT editor replace and translate it manually, and most of words are duplicated so if u use replace tool u can translate all langs pretty quickly, and dont forget that there are another problem that is language keyboard, that is yet another little problem, but not so hard.
what you could do is translate all files that end with mui.0409 but you need some software like PE Explorer to translate all strings and dialogs. this would give you kurdish language in program menus and stuff but you could probable not change the names of the folder because the programs have the paths deaper coded into the dll and exe. I would not dream of doing this because when you finaly get finished there would probalble be 1 or 2 updates since you started to translate so most new apps would not run on the windows version you translated.

614c/612c I'd Like to Learn How to create or at least modify a Cooked a Rom

Hello,
yes, basically I am hoping someone could provide some information on how to create or at least modify a cooked a rom Like the Russian rom or the one from pdaclan specifically for the HP iPAQ 614c/612c.
I would like to make modifications to the existing 614c roms and re-build a flashable flash.dio. I've already bricked my iPAQ once and would like to avoid going thru that pain again.
I want to be able to do the following:-
1-
Example, the Chinese rom has a nice feature showing the battery status in percentage, I think thats the Windows\battdrvr.dll that is responsible for this, I'd like to learn how I can extract that file and integrate it with another Rom.
2-
The Chinese rom has some Chinese left overs so If I knew how I can rebuild the flash.dio, I could overwrite those file from the English one and fix the Chinese rom myself.
3- I would like to dictate what software I want to install as part of the rom.
I don't know where to begin, most of the information related to this PDA are either in Chinees or Russian and I am still a newbie.
I am sure if someone posts some tips, I can get started.
please share your knowledge, I am sure a lot of use would find this info useful.

What is HTC_CIME? Is it a specific ROM version? And, could you tell me how can I find out what version of ROM is on my phone?
Thanks.

HTC_CIME is HTC chinese input method editor (or something like that ) it exist as HTC_CIME.apk
So try to search but HTC_CIME.apk around the forum, not sure all roms will work with this if not i bet there is an default android CIME. But read several places that this is working on some of the no-sense roms released here on xda.
Since i'm not Chinese or even know the language i never had any use for it so don't know much about it either. Don't flame me if i'm wrong, just trying to help giving you some words there might help you in your search for a solution

Thank you anyway. But you still not tell that how do I know what is the version of ROM currently running on my phone? For example, you know yours is "CursorSense32A-1.2.6.1".
Narkewoody: the easiest way to use Chinese applications or see Chinese characters is for you to install an add-on program, such as CE-Star or Monster Chinese. The downside of doing it is that certain system-related prompts will be shown in Chinese, as opposed to English. Let me know if this doesn't make sense. You may also want to go to the CE-Star and Monster Chinese websites and take a look. Good luck.

Xperia X2: How to change language (re-flash an Stock Spanish ROM)

Hi!
This is interesting information for owners of the Xperia X2 that want to change the device language to Spanish, and for others who want to study a new ways to change it to other languages.
The people in a Spanish forum have managed to unbrand a Spanish Vodafone based X2 using a trick to foil SEUS: the way is aborting the phone custiomization process, and then, installing manually a lot of CABs. This method also is useful to change the language from Stock English to Stock Spanish MR1.
I've already tried on my English based X2 already Updated to MR1, and it worked. Now I have a Generic Spanish X2 with MR1 installed.
The curious thing is that, this Spanish Stock ROM is far more stable that the same R1BA024 in English. I've used the phone with the original MR1 English for a couple of days an it was a real mess. But, this Spanish ROM is a little faster and it hasn't give me so many problems. The phone is really more stable (not perfect, but nearly close).
This is the link (all credits goes to dreamcrawler):
http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?p=962961&posted=1#post962961
The instructions are of course in Spanish.
Cheers.
Jolo.
You need Flash Hard-SPL first. Then Flash ROM with another language.
But there is not any Hard-SPL for X2 yet.

I think that you don't even bother on read my message.
I already changed the language on my X2.
English translation of all that would be nice.
Since its me who made it i guess ill take the task of translating it
TUTORIAL: DEBRANDING AND UPDATING YOUR XPERIA X2
1º Open SEUS, start a new update. EVEN IF IT SAYS YOU HAVE LATEST VERS, UPDATE IT ANYWAY.
2º ONCE IT REBOOTS, CALIBRATION SCREEN APPEARS. RIGHT AFTER CLICKING ON THE CROSSES, IT WILL APPEAR THE SONY ERICSSON LOGO, AND IT WILL START APPLYING THE CABS. PUSH THE RESET RIGHT after it starts applying (hidden behind the stilus, opening the battery cover).
3º After rebooting, the Sony Logo will appear again asking to retry. Press NO.
4º Now you will need a pack with all the cabs from the language firmware you want to change & update your X2. No matter if they are from the old firmware or the last one.The important part is they must come from the firmware with the language you want to turn your cellphone into. you can find how to extract said cabs here:
(damn forum, it wont let me post a link, in this same forum theres a post explaining how to extract roms, seek for it)
5º Once you have the cabs on your SD Card, you have to install them all, one by one. Once you are done, restart the cellphone.
6º Start SEUS again, run another update, force it if it says you have last version and you will get your X2 updated on your desired language.
I also made a tutorial to make your x2 stable, run it with SPB shell 3.5.3, and many other fixes. tell me if interested so i can translate.
hello
I can't find any way to extract the cabs from the x2 firmwares(extractcabs.exe doesn't work). Can you please help by providing a tool for that or the cabs(english version firmware).
Thank you for the support!
biglaur, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5384641&postcount=2

...
I have a .sdr version of the firmware but it doesn't work with the program above either.Help to the pro's,many thanks if someone posts the cabs from any english firmware.Please...!Thank you!
got it...
It works,my x2 has english language from sweedish. To find the english language cabs type in the "search" tab this:"Cabs from MR1 are posted here" and you'll find them.
Many thanks to you guys that posted the method, you deserve all our respect.

It's not necesary that you force SEUS update on step 1. You can simply hard reset the device under Settings to erase all phone's content.
Then, you can go to step 2.

Thank you very much for advice-)))
But the thing is - few days after device hard using I got a stupid decision delete all pre-installed soft. And after rebooting I can only see the SE logo. I can put device into boot-loader but everytime SEUS says "You have the latest vers...etc"...
Bought it in China so I think the only solution is to wait official MR2 update for X2 for China.
Because X2 didn't official come to Chinese market yet.

Language from Czech to English
Very new to the forums here.
Phone: Xperia X2
Want to change the language on all of the programs from Czech to English.
I have tried to read as many posts as I could about this and people keep talking about putting X2 roms on their X1. I have not found any step by step instructions anywhere on how to change the language other than this thread and I am still unable to understand how to do it/get the proper programs/roms/tools etc. . . I have downloaded what I thought would be the step by step instructions but apparently you need special programs to open them up as well. Sorry to sound like s 3 year old but I am totally new to this and really want to use/read/understand the language on my new Xperia X2 phone.
My family bought me a Czech language Xperia X2 that I need to change to English. I am getting the complete run around from SE(Sony Ericsson) Europe as well SE USA."The phone was sold in Slovakia and was meant to be used in Slovakia. SE is not responsible for changing the language. . . " yadda yadda boolcookies.
Questions:
1.) Is there a complete step by step process (for idiots like myself) with all of the downloads/instructions/programs/extractors needed to change the language to English?
2.) Does the language change affect ALL of the programs on the phone: Windows Mobile Office, Internet Explorer, CNN tracker, Panels, etc. . . Or are there specific roms that i need to find for each program on the phone? Where are these roms?
3.) If I succeed to perform the necessary steps to change the language from Czech to English will I be able to perform future SE phone updates?
Sorry to be so new to this but I can use some help if someone is willing to offer it.

Language from Czech to English
Double Post
this is great! all i have instaled on my phonr is windows 6.5 that cames with the mr1 firmware (SE buggy stuff not installed) i installed just the SE dialer, SE comm manager and SE taskmanager. I also installed the SPB shell 3.5.3 and i have it as main menu. oh i also installed the X2 camera app from mr1 asn the SE flash deployment. internet settings were needed to set manualy bat that is no problem.
So far the performance is amazing. that SE stuf it just prings the phones performance down. I dont have slideview, dont have panel manager. as i da basic WM 6.5 and SPB 3.5.3 (and some apps for internet and file management.)
X2 performance for the first time in 3 month since i got the phone reminds me on my X1.
Ty again so much
I have updated to the latest version, canceled the customization and installed the extracted cabs as explained above and afterwards reflashed.
But unfortunately same language as before (Swedish) instead of English.
Did i miss a cab or something ?

try to delete the folder inside C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\ BEFORE you run SEUS
Im going to try and chagne my generic_SG to generic_UK after hearing its better.
So this is the steps Im going to try:
1) Do steps explained in first step up to the retry but and say NO
2) Download R3A UK rom
3) Extracted cabs from UK rom on SD card
4) On clean WM install ALL cabs? (Is this necessary?)
5) Update on SEUS again, say YES
6) Hopefully it will update it to generic UK
7) Once upgraded to MR2, clear phone memory again and repeat steps from post 1
8) Install my own personal cabs from R3A rom
Please correct me if im wrong anywhere, cheers.
